Dr. Hauschka Soothing Day Lotion is a wonderfully calming and soothing face lotion that is formulated for skin that is sensitive and prone to irritation, inflammation and visible redness. It has a very lightweight texture and it is fast absorbing– leaving behind no residue whatsoever. My skin can be sensitive, at times, but usually it isn't. However, I have found that this nourishing and hydrating lotion is indispensable after at-home peels and exfoliation since they can leave skin a bit irritated and red.

Weleda Sheer Hydration Daily Dew Lotion is a wonderful lightweight and fast absorbing lotion that keeps my skin beautifully hydrated all day long. It is perfect for the warmer weather, and leaves skin with a lovely glow, but if you have very dry skin it may not offer you enough moisture. It has a very faint aroma informed by its ingredients, and it isn't in the least bit long-lasting. It contains no SPF, and therefore you will want to use a separate sunscreen. It is vegan and cruelty-free.

Elina Organics Sea Buckthorn Healing Lotion is a soothing, calming and nourishing lotion that can be used on the face and body to accelerate healing. This antioxidant-rich lotion is lightweight and fast absorbing with only the faintest natural aroma from the ingredients. It can be used on irritated skin for a variety of conditions, but it is also a wonderfully calming and hydrating lotion that calms red and irritated skin, and is therefore a wonderful choice after exfoliation and peels. I like to use it in that capacity, and note that it reduces redness, irritation and inflammation. It is also wonderful on bug bites, minor abrasions and dry patches.

SUN BUM Sun Screen Lip Balm ($3.99 from Ulta): One thing that I never leave home without is lip balm with a sunscreen, and even though it is cold outside doesn't mean that we don't need sun protection. I wear them alone and under my favorite lipsticks or lip glosses, and I leave them in my jacket pockets, purses, work bags, desk drawers and car– essentially anywhere that I will be in need of both moisture and sun protection. SUN BUM also has wonderful Tinted Lip Balms with an SPF 15 and CocoBalm versions that contain no sunscreen.

They apply as a gel but when they dry they transform into a rubbery mask that you peel off in sheets. They are so fun to use– especially when you get to peel them off!
Mustela(Available from Mustela, Nordstrom, buybuybaby, Target, Walgreens, Amazon, Dermstore, Bed, Bath & Beyond, CVS and Walmart) is a wonderful skincare brand for babies and mothers, but you neither have to be a baby, nor the mother of a baby to love their nourishing products. Their wipes are very gentle on even the most sensitive skin, and they leave it soft, smooth hydrated and pampered, and I use them for a multitude of uses from cleaning my hands, to removing swatches and makeup. Many of their products have light pleasant aromas, but others are fragrance-free. Furthermore, their lotions are emollient, hydrating and perfect for the cold weather.

It has a depth and yet it isn't in the least bit overpowering.

I have been reaching for this deodorant a lot lately because its luscious spicy orange aroma feels at once comforting and uplifting during the cold winter months. It reminds me of a smooth and spicy orange blossom tea.
Unwash Try Me Kit ($25.00 from Ulta): This range of haircare products cleans, without stripping and drying hair, and it conditions without weighing hair down or leaving it greasy. During the colder months of the year it is especially helpful because of its ability nourish and hydrate my dry curly hair.
Bio-Cleansing Conditioner: Apply to wet hair. Massage into scalp, working product through ends of hair. Rinse thoroughly. Tip: When a deeper clean is desired, use Unwash Anti-Residue Cleanse to help remove build-up.

While I do not have dry skin naturally, like many I definitely experience it during the colder months of the year. This year, for some reason, my skin has been more dry than usual– therefore, I thought that I would share a few new-to-me products that have been doing an impressive job maintaining the hydration levels of my skin.

It leaves behind absolutely no residue, despite its serious emollience, and it leaves skin immediately hydrated, soft, smooth and luminous. It does have a light and clean aroma, but it fades quickly.

It is nourishing, hydrating, very lightweight and it is a very effective makeup base that radically increases the wear-time of your makeup. It is a perfect hydrating base to give your skin extra moisture and protection during the colder months of the year.

It contains Aloe Vera and Hemp Seed Oil that moisturize the skin, and it has a creamy-dreamy lather (especially when used with a body mit or sponge) that is non-drying. Not only does it thoroughly clean and hydrate the skin, but I find it emollient enough that I can shave my legs with it. It has the delectable scent of coconut that makes the whole shower smell delicious.

It is a very lightweight and fast-absorbing oil that very effectively moisturizes dry skin. I have been using it to moisturize my whole body, but have really noticed the difference in my legs since they have been unusually dry this winter. It is nourishing, healing and ultra-hydrating. It has the delicious scent of coconut, but it is light and therefore not in the least bit overpowering.

C’est Moi 3 Step Gentle Skin Care ($26.00 from C'est Moi and Target): This 3-Step skincare set, which includes a cleanser, lotion and sunscreen, is perfect for summer travel, and in fact all three pieces have taken up residence in my travel bag (see my assessment of the cleanser and sunscreen below). I have only tested the lotion a couple of times, but it is lightweight, fast absorbing and very hydrating. It also has no detectable scent.
