December 2023 Empties Galore for the Face, Body, Hair and Home

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

It is hard to believe that it is already the end of December, and that the new year is upon us. Here is my last empties post for 2023, and I managed to toss all of the empty containers into my recycle bin before 2024. I finished up 10 full size products, one deluxe sample and one full size candle– not a bad way to close out the year.

René Furterer Triphasic Shampoo ($15.00-$76.00 for 1.6 oz to 20.2 oz. from René FurtererDermstoreLovelySkin and SkinStore): This non-stripping shampoo gently cleans the hair and scalp, and it is formulated to treat the hair follicles to encourage hair growth. Hair is left manageable and looks more full and healthy. I purchased this during the pandemic because I noticed that the stress of living in lockdown was causing me to shed more hair than usual. Once the pandemic became less of an existential threat, I no longer really needed this shampoo. Purchase Again?  If ever I need it again, I will most certainly buy another bottle!

René Furterer KARITÉ HYDRA Hydrating Shine Mask ($15.00-$54.00 for 1 oz.- 6.9 oz. from René FurtererLovelySkinDermstore and Amazon): If ever there was a hair mask that nourished, moisturized and left hair soft, manageable, shiny and frizz-free, it is this one. It offers dry hair much-needed moisture without ever weighing it down, and it rinses clean. Formulated for dry, dehydrated hair, the Shea oil replenishes moisture, helps restore the protective barrier and supplies the hair with essential fatty acids and vitamins. It has the most delectable light, nutty aroma that is an absolute pleasure to the senses. Purchase Again? I already opened a big jar!

Davines OI All in One Milk ($40.00 for 135 ml / 4.56 fl.oz. from DavinesNordstromAmazon and Cult Beauty): is a wonderful multipurpose leave-in treatment that tames frizz and flyaways, and it softens, detangles, hydrates, and protects hair from the heat. Additionally, it gives hair a gorgeous shine. It includes Roucou Oil, which is rich in Beta-Carotene and antioxidants, that protects and strengthens hair against environmental damage. This luxurious treatment has a lovely warm and creamy aroma that lingers in the hair, but it isn't in the least bit distracting or overpowering. Purchase Again? Without question, this stuff is magical!

Spongellé Tunisian Moon Body Wash Infused Buffer ($18.00 each from Spongellé): Spongellé Riviera Collection Body Buffers are brilliant body wash-infused sponges effectively and gently clean and exfoliate the skin, and they also leave the it deliciously baby soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. They really excel in their ability to clean and exfoliate the skin while delighting the senses with their delightful aromas. Fragrance NotesTop: Italian Mandarin, Crisp Green Apple, Golden Neroli. Middle: Creamy Coconut, Orange Blossom, Jasmine. Base: Dark Vanilla, Cedar, Cashmere Woods. Purchase Again? This scent was limited edition, and is now gone, but there are so many from which to choose, and they are all quite fantastic! I have several of their body buffers, and can't imagine not using them on a daily basis!

Trader Joe's Red Currant Foaming Hand Soap ($2.99 from Trader Joe's): If you shop at Trader Joe's, then I urge you to buy a bottle or two of the new seasonal foaming hand soap. I bought a bottle when I was grocery shopping, and it is the perfect embodiment of the holiday season. It has a wonderful red currant aroma, but it is not overpowering, and it boasts a luxurious creamy foaming lather that moisturizes the skin. Furthermore, it is cruelty-free and very affordable at $2.99 for an 8oz. bottle. Purchase Again? YES! It is on my grocery list, and I just hope that they haven't sold out by the time I get there!

African Botanics Buchu Botanical Enzyme Polish ($85.00 for 3.4 oz. from Boxwalla,  African BotanicsCredo Beauty and Cult Beauty): Buchu Botanical Enzyme Polish is a very deep-cleansing facial exfoliator that effectively and efficiently sweeps away impurities and cleans out clogged pores. It is formulated with a combination of Marula Oil, Baobab Oils and Buchu Plant extracts that are punctuated by Micro-Algae and ultra-fine granules of ancient volcanic minerals. The fine granules, which densely populate this exfoliator, efficiently and effectively unclog pores, and remove dead skin cells, excess oils and impurities. Papaya and Pineapple enzymes help to dissolve dead skin cells, aid in cleaning out the pores, and make them appear reduced in size. Skin is left brightened, deeply cleansed and utterly glowing. In fact, the first time that I used it I noticed that it left my skin feeling as soft and silky smooth as ultra-fine velvet. Only the smallest amount is needed to achieve the desired results for the face, neck and décolleté, and the exfoliating particles are so efficient that you do not need to apply any pressure as you massage it into the skin. Buchu Botanical Enzyme Polish Skin neither strips the skin, nor does it deplete vital moisture or hydration. Dull, congested skin gives way to youthful, radiant skin that feels amazing to the touch. Purchase Again? I think that I might have another tube hiding somewhere!

Neutrogena Reusable Gentle Foaming Facial Cleanser Starter Kit ($14.99 for 7.5 fl oz. from NeutrogenaAmazonTarget and Walmart): is a brilliant addition to their skincare collection, and a wonderful eco-friendly cleanser. The kit includes a reusable metal bottle and a concentrated powder cleanser refill. You simply fill up the bottle with drinking quality water and then add the powder packet and give it a good shake. The end result is a fragrance-free, 7 ingredient foaming cleanser that is gentle and creamy to the touch. It thoroughly cleans the skin without ever stripping it, and leaves it silky smooth. This is a wonderful cleanser that is an excellent choice for even the most sensitive skin types. Purchase Again? I have far too many cleansers to use before I buy another one, but I will likely pick up one of the refill packets at some point because I really like this cleanser.
Ao Skincare Reverse Longitude PM Serum-Shot ($95.00 for 1 oz. from Ao Skincare): is an antioxidant-rich nighttime serum that reduces the appearance of fine lines, helps to fade hyperpigmentation, it does an excellent job exfoliating dead skin cells, and it stimulates collagen production. Unlike retinol, which can be a more harsh form of Vitamin A, that many people can't tolerate, Retinal is a more gentle version of Vitamin A, and therefore it can be more easily tolerated by people with sensitive skin. This serum is lightweight, fast-absorbing and fragrance-free. My skin can be a bit sensitive, and I often experience dry and peeling skin after using retinol-based products, but this serum neither leaves my skin dry, nor peeling and irritated. It is very effective, gentle and a perfect pick for my skin. My skin is left soft and smooth, and my fine lines are softened. Furthermore, my skin has a pronounced clarity and my small area of hyperpigmentation (sun damage) is starting to lighten. Purchase Again? While I really loved using this a lot, and would definitely use it again, I have numerous retinol and retinal based products to use before I buy another one. This one is definitely first rate!

The A Method C Glow Moisturizer ($75.00 for 1 oz. from The A Method): is a gorgeous lightweight and fast absorbing Vitamin C-based moisturizer that is antioxidant-rich and very nourishing. It offers skin effective and sustainable hydration while fighting free-radical damage. Skin is left decidedly soft, smooth and luminous. It does not contain a sunscreen, and therefore you will need to apply your sunscreen after you have let this lovely moisturizer sink into your skin. This moisturizer has the most heavenly citrus aroma, but it is neither too assertive, nor is it long-lasting. Purchase Again? I just opened a new bottle.

Fleur & Bee H2 Oh Yeah Hydrating Moisturizer ($65.00 for 1.5 oz. from Fleur & Bee and Amazon): is an ultra-emollient moisturizer that acts as a very effective humectant. It is perfect for dry and dehydrated skin, and it offers serious hydration that lasts all day. The Hyaluronic Acid, which is a humectant, not only attracts and retains hydration, but it also plumps fine lines. This soothing cream is rich, emollient and it leaves skin unbelievably soft, smooth, hydrated and nourished. The consistency is buttery to the touch, and it melts into the skin in the most scrumptious way. Furthermore, it has a barely-there aroma, and it is vegan and cruelty-free. Fleur & Bee is not only a wonderful company that practices sustainability, by the use of recycled materials for its packaging and the use of wind-energy to make its skincare products, but they do all of this and keep their prices affordable! Purchase Again? I am currently swimming in open jars of moisturizers, but I would definitely use this again when I need another cream.

GOOD FAITH Smoothing Eye Cream + Caffeine ($26.00 for 0.50 oz from GOOD FAITH and Amazon): is a wonderful discovery that I made recently, and I couldn't wait to share it with you! This cruelty-free, and antioxidant-rich, eye cream is lightweight, fast absorbing and it offers the delicate eye area serious moisture without being greasy. The caffeine de-puffs the under eye area, and this formula noticeably brightens and softens the skin. Furthermore, the Hyaluronic Acid plumps fine lines and retains serious hydration. This formula is fragrance-free and doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes in the least bit. This is a really nice, and affordable, eye cream that is definitely worthy of your consideration. Purchase Again? Definitely!
Spongellé Botanica Candle in Petitgrain ($25.00 for 8 oz. from Spongellé): This is an incredible citrus delight to behold. The bottom notes, consisting of musk and sea salt, temper some of the crisp edges associated with citrus-based scents, and the end result is among the most alluring citrus fragrance profiles. Fragrance Notes: Top: Lemon, Sparkling Water, Grapefruit. Middle: Mandarin, Navel Orange, Cassis Bottom: Musk, Sea Salt. Purchase Again? This candle is no longer available, but they have many other enchanting scents. I currently have several of their candles, and I really love them all!

Overall Assessment: I am thrilled that I was able to finish up all of these products before 2024, and hope that I can do as well next month. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in December? Any amazing finds or terrible duds to report?

October 2023 Empties for the Face, Body and Hair

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

In the month of October I finished up 13 products– 9 of which were full-sized and the remaining 4 were deluxe samples. There was not a single dud in the bunch, and I would happily use all of them again. However, in many cases I won't replace them in the near future because I have so many open products to use up before they spoil. While it looks as though I used a lot of products in October, it is important to note that many of these bottles, jars and tubes were simply finished up, and in some cases the were nearly empty. That said, it is always my goal to practice sustainability and mindfulness, and therefore I make a concerted effort to finish up products each month so that they aren't wasted.

Here is what I finished in October 2023:
Thinksport Epsom Salt Bubble Bath ($7.99-$8.49 for 8 oz. from Thinksport and Amazon): is an effective, and cruelty-free, bubble bath that is formulated to relieve sore muscles. Whether your muscles are sore from a vigorous workout or from a long and exhausting day, this bubble bath offers the perfect peaceful soak that soothes the spirit and relieves sore muscles. Instead of a pungent therapeutic aroma, that can be cloying, this wonderful bubble bath has a lovely citrus floral scent. I was so relaxed after my first use that I slept like a baby! Purchase Again? I have more bubble bath to use first, but I would definitely purchase this again.

RITUALS Fortune Oil Sweet Orange & Cedar Wood ($14.00 for 200 ml. from Rituals): RITUALS Fortune Oil Sweet Orange & Cedar Wood from the Laughing Buddha Collection is a wonderfully moisturizing shower oil for the body that functions in precisely the same way as the many facial cleansing oils that have recently flooded the market.

You simply apply a small amount of Fortune Oil Sweet Orange & Cedar Wood to your skin and as soon as it has contact with water it emulsifies and turns from an oil consistency to a thin milky emulsion that effectively cleans the skin, and leaves it delectably soft smooth and moisturized. The scent is a warm amalgam of Sweet Orange & Cedar Wood, and it is neither too sweet, nor too woodsy. While the scent is lovely it does not linger since it is, for the most part, washed away. Purchase Again? I will definitely purchase one of their shower oils once I use up more of my shower products.
Derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub ($32.50 for 2 oz. from Ulta): This is a wonderfully effective facial scrub. This exfoliator features tiny, and densely populated, exfoliating particles suspended in a creamy base that has enough grit to sweep away dead skin cells effortlessly. The formula is gentle, effective and non-stripping. Skin is left soft, silky smooth, supple and refreshed. It is a very concentrated formula– so this 2 oz. jar should last a long time unless you are using it on your face and body. Derma e suggests that it can be used on your hands, elbows, feet, knees– or anywhere you need to exfoliate rough skin, and I definitely agree that it is quite effective on rough skin in those regions as well. Purchase Again? Most definitely!
Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water ($15.00-$71.00 from Revolve, Neiman Marcus): is one of my holiest of holy grail products, and I have been using it for many years now. My eyes can be particularly sensitive when it comes to makeup and makeup removers, and I have even found many so-called gentle eye makeup removers to be very irritating for my eyes. Koh Gen Do's Cleansing Spa Water removes all traces of makeup and eye makeup without irritating sensitive eyes or skin, and it leaves the skin soft, clean and hydrated. On the nights that I am too tired to do my full skincare routine, I use this multi-tasker to clean my skin and remove all traces of makeup. Not only is it incredibly effective, but it neither strips the skin, nor does it leave behind an oily residue. Purchase Again? YES!

Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water Wipes ($62.00 for a 3-pack from Macy'sAmazonViolet Grey and Neiman Marcus): My eyes can be particularly sensitive when it comes to makeup and makeup removers, and I have even found many so-called gentle eye makeup removers to be very irritating to my eyes. When I was first introduced to Koh Gen Do's Cleansing Water and Cleansing Water Cloths I assumed that I would be disappointed as I had been so many times before. However, much to my surprise these products actually lived up to the claims made (in fact exceeded them). Not only did my eyes not sting, but it removes all traces of makeup, and the surrounding skin was left feeling soft and supple. Purchase Again? Without a doubt, I love these fabulous wipes, they are by far the best that I have ever used.
Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical Serum ($195.00 for  30 ml/ 1 oz. from Space NK, Neiman Marcus and Cult Beauty (210.00€): This lightweight and fast absorbing golden elixir boasts a delectable warm and earthy aroma from which one can detect the Rose Damascena Absolute, Jasminum Grandiflorum Flower and a fusion of the remaining essential oils. The intoxicating aromatherapeutic experience delights and calms the senses while it quiets the mind. I find that I slow down and inhale deeply as I massage in into my skin, and that any residual stress that I may have been experiencing just melts away. This ritual is utterly relaxing, and it heightens the sensory experience of using this luxe oil. This serum significantly bolsters radiance and it leaves skin silky smooth, soft and supple. I note a distinct brightening and evening of my skin tone, a lifting and softening on my fine lines, and an undeniable increase in the long term hydration of my skin. Purchase Again? I just opened a new bottle! This earns a definite A+!

GOOD FAITH Brightening Serum + Vitamin C ($28.00 for 1 oz. from GOOD FAITH): is a wonderful lightweight and fast absorbing hydrating hybrid serum that is lusciously emollient. It leaves skin very soft, silky smooth, hydrated and luminous. It softens and plumps the appearance of fine lines, and noticeably brightens the complexion.

While it is designated as fragrance-free, it does have a delicious light citrus aroma that is tempered by a clean herbal undercurrent, and the aroma is from the ingredients themselves, not added fragrance. It is formulated for all types of skin and it is vegan and cruelty-free. Purchase Again? Maybe at some point, but I currently have several Vitamin C serums to use up first.
TATCHA The Dewy Skin Cream ($72.00 for 1.7 oz. from TATCHA and Sephora): It a wonderful plumping, hydrating and antioxidant rich moisturizer that leaves skin luminous and happy. It is lightweight, fast absorbing and such a joy to use! Purchase Again? Not in the near future because I have far too many open moisturizers at the moment!

Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Gel Cream ($140.00 for 1.7 oz. from Erno Laszlo): is a moisture-rich, deeply hydrating and fast-absorbing gel cream that melts into the skin, leaves behind no residue whatsoever, and immediately delivers results. The antioxidant-rich cream is formulated to be utterly weightless and it does an exquisite job quenching dry and dehydrated skin. It calms and soothes inflamed skin, and leaves it soft, supple and luminous. While it contains fragrance, toward the middle of the ingredients, it doesn't have much of an aroma to speak of. Purchase Again? I thoroughly enjoyed this gel cream, and would definitely consider buying it next summer.

Dr. Barbara Sturm Face Cream ($75.00 for 0.50 oz. and $225.00 for 1.69 oz. from Sephora, Nordstrom and Bluemercury): I now understand why this brand, and indeed this cream, has such a cult following. Described as, " soothing anti-aging face moisturizer that targets the signs of aging, promotes skin regeneration, and is infused with power ingredient purslane to keep skin hydrated and radiant for 24 hours"– this cream is a serious contender. It melts into the skin immediately and calms, soothes and deeply hydrates the skin. Skin is left soft, smooth, supply and luminous. Purchase Again? It is at the top of my list as soon as I finish up more of my face creams!
Zion Health's Deep Cleansing Scalp & Hair Scrub Pink Grapefruit Peony ($16.31 for 4 oz. from iHerb): This low-lathering scrub contains gritty little exfoliation particles that gently remove dead skin cells, product build-up, dirt and excessive oils. It leaves scalp and hair clean and exfoliated without leaving them dry or stripped. Simply massage it into the hair and scalp to activate the light lather, then rinse thoroughly and follow with your favorite conditioner. This is a very effective formula, and I only need to use it once or twice a month, but your use may vary. The aroma, which is informed by the pink grapefruit and peony, is unsurprisingly a bright and cheery fruity floral. The scent is uplifting and pleasant, but it does not linger. Purchase Again? Probably not because I have several other scalp scrubs to use, and it will take forever to finish them, but if I didn't I would.

OUAI Wave Spray ($14.00 for 1.7 oz. and $28.00 for 4.9 oz. from Sephora and Ulta): This is a wonderful non-sticky spray for effortless looking beachy waves. It has a weightless texture, it doesn't flake or make hair crunchy, s I run out.and it is suitable for all types of hair. While I have curly hair, this wonderful spray offers my hair touchable hold and enhances my curls. Purchase Again? I have two more bottles, and will definitely purchase more as soon as I run out.
Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Eye Shadow Pencil in Dark Pearl ($29.00 for 0.06 oz. from Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Beautylish, Cult Beauty and Selfridges): is described as a "sparkling grey eyeshadow pencil for brown eyes," but it strikes me as a bit more of a bronzy taupe shade. It has stunning shimmer that does not migrate, and the consistency is silky smooth. It glides across the skin effortlessly, depositing color evenly, and it sets after about 30 seconds, as suggested, so you want to blend it out rather quickly since I have found it budge proof after it sets. Whether you wear it as an eyeshadow, or as an eyeliner– it offers all day wear without any creasing or migrating on my eyes. I should note that I do no have particularly oily eyelids, and therefore I can wear this without a primer and it stays put until I remove it, but your wear may vary. It is also very important to avoid tightlining, or wearing this in your waterline because it "is infused with Synthetic Sapphire, a mineral gemstone" and Charlotte Tilbury suggests that you immediately, and thoroughly, rinse your eyes with water should it get into them. I have sensitive eyes, and always avoid putting liner on my waterline, but even when I used to I never put shimmering liners that close to the eye. Purchase Again? Oh yes, it's just that stunning!
Overall Assessment: I am quite pleased that I managed to finish up 13 products in October! What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in October? Any serious hits or misses to report?

September 2023 Empties for the Face and Body

Press Sample & Purchased (Affiliate Links)

September has already come and gone! How is that even possible?! I managed to use up 11 products, and gleefully placed the empty container in my recycle bin. It feels so good to finish things up before they turn, and I hope that I am able to do a good job in October. Here is what I finished up, and my thoughts about each of these products:
Spongellé Riviera Collection Body Buffer in Ibiza Bloom ($18.00 from Spongellé):  Spongellé's brilliant body wash-infused sponges effectively and gently clean and exfoliate the skin, and they also leave the it deliciously baby soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. They really excel in their ability to clean and exfoliate the skin while delighting the senses with their delightful aromas. Ibiza Bloom NotesTop: Orange Flower, Magnolia, Green Vines. Middle: Jasmine Buds, Tuberose, Ylang. Base: Sandalwood, Musk, Amber. Purchase Again? It appears that this line was discontinued, but there are so many other lovely body buffers from which to choose. I have already opened another one!

Cetaphil Deep Cleansing Bar ($10.82 for. 3-Pack from Amazon, Walmart, Target and iHerb): I can't believe that I have never reviewed this wonderful bar before! This gentle cleansing bar can be used on the face and body, and it deeply cleans without stripping the skin. Gentle enough for sensitive skin, this bar does what it says and it is rich, creamy and so satisfying to use! Purchase Again? Without question!

Baylis & Harding Goodness Natural Body Wash in Lemongrass Ginger ($6.79 for 16.9 oz. from Amazon and Target): I have been gleefully using Baylis & Harding body washes since the British brand launched in the US a few years ago, and their truly affordable luxury products are a treat to the senses without putting a dent in your wallet. If you are a fan of brands like Molton Brown, you will be elated by this affordable alternative.

One of my most coveted products is the Baylis & Harding Goodness Natural Body Wash in Lemongrass & Ginger, and I have really been enjoying it a lot these days. The uplifting aroma is a delight to the senses without being in the least bit overpowering. Purchase Again? Yes, as long as they make it!

Curél Foaming Facial Wash ($15.00 for 5 oz. from their Amazon Store): I was particularly interested to see whether this foaming and moisturizing cleanser, which is made for dry and sensitive skin, would be a good match for my normal/combination skin. I am a fan of hydrating cleansers that are gentle enough for sensitive skin, but I like them to rinse clean without leaving behind any sort of residue that requires a second cleanse (when they would be used last in a double cleansing routine).

This cleanser exceeded my expectations. It has a wonderful and dense foam that thoroughly cleans the skin without stripping it in the least bit, and it rinses clean without any sort of residue. It is fragrance-free (and unscented) and it leaves my skin silky-smooth and hydrated without feeling as though I need to wash my skin again to feel clean. It is gentle, a pleasure to use, and it feels like a great match for my normal/combination skin. Purchase Again? Definitely!

100% Pure Watermelon Cucumber Water Locking Facial Mist ($25.00 for 1.7 oz. from 100% Pure): This is an ultra-hydrating mist that refreshes, plumps and leaves skin luminous. Like their serum and moisturizer, this facial mist also has a wonderful watermelon and cucumber aroma, but it fades away quickly. Purchase Again? Probably not because I have a lot of moisture mists to use up, but I really liked this one a lot.

GOOD FAITH Softening Moisturizer + Plant-Derived Squalane ($26.00 for 1.69 oz. from GOOD FAITH and Amazon): is a wonderful lightweight and fast absorbing antioxidant-rich moisturizer that leaves my skin deeply moisturized all day long. This nourishing lotion has a very light citrus aroma that fades as soon as it melts into the skin. It can be used as a daytime and nighttime moisturizer, and it leaves my skin soft and smooth. It is formulated for all skin types, but if you have particularly dry skin you might want a richer cream during the colder months of the year. Purchase Again? I would if I wasn't swimming in moisturizers!

AveSeena Ageless Perfection Cream ($157.00 for 1.7 oz. from AveSeena and AveSeena's Amazon Store): is an ultra-nourishing cream that is lightweight, incredibly emollient, and it melts into the skin leaving it soft, smooth, supple, richly moisturized and velvety to the touch, and without any sort of residue left behind. It makes your skin feel so good that it might be difficult to keep yourself from repeatedly touching your face!

It is formulated for sensitive, dry, oily, prematurely aged, mature, combination and balanced skin, therefore it was formulated for essentially everyone. It was created to effectively treat dryness, dehydration, dullness and uneven skin tone. It can be used both as a daytime and a nighttime moisturizer, but you will need a separate sunscreen if you use it during the day.

It has a gorgeous aroma that is informed by a delightful compilation of Rose Damascena, cucumber hydrosols and lavender, and the scent is 100% natural from the listed ingredients. It offers a wondrous and luxurious aromatherapeutic sensory experience without being in the least bit overpowering. Purchase Again? Perhaps once I have finished up more of my open jars of face cream.

Erno Laszlo Phelityl Night Cream ($146.00 for 1.7 oz. from Erno Laszlo, Nordstrom and Amazon): which is pH-balancing, is formulated to repair, strengthen and hydrate your skin while you sleep. It is very thick, but miraculously lightweight, fast-absorbing and non-greasy. It quickly melts into the skin, leaves behind no residue whatsoever, and deeply moisturizes. When I wake up my skin is so soft, supple, moisturized and luminous. Additionally, it softens the appearance of fine lines and makes my skin look incredible. It can also be used during the day, but it contains no sunscreen, and therefore you need to use a separate sunscreen if you use this during the day. It has a very light and pleasant aroma that quickly dissipates, and it can be used for all types of skin. It is perfect for my normal/combination skin, but I think that people with dry skin might prefer a richer cream at night. Purchase Again? I already opened another jar!

I already opened another jar!

Serendipitous Eau de Parfum Spray ($50.00 for 50 ml. from Lucky Scent): is a truly delectable fragrance with notes of Cocoa, Tahitian Vanilla and Blood Orange. While it may sound more like a gastronomic delight than one might imagine for a perfume, it is infinitely wearable, and the beautiful fusion of its notes create an aroma that is at once sweet, smooth, creamy, deep, rich, warm and hypnotic. In fact, this tantalizing fragrance is intoxicatingly addictive, soothing and scrumptious. Once it wears down, its sillage lacks longevity, but instead it sits close to the skin and mellows so as not to impose itself on passersby. I absolutely love this fragrance, and its warmth is perfect for the Autumn. Purchase Again? I am contemplating it because this smells utterly delectable!
Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'n' Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Midnight Blue ($29.00 for 10g. from Charlotte TilburySephoraNordstromBloomingdale'sBeautylishSelfridgesCult Beauty and John Lewis): This wonderful formula is so creamy to the touch and easy to blend, and it glides across the skin without any tugging or pulling, and it deposits color evenly and effortlessly. It allows you to create a very clean crisp line, but gives you enough time before setting to make a smoky smudged line as well. Once it does set, it is completely budge-proof, and lasts on me all day long, and without a primer. I do not experience any transfer, smudging or fading, but I do not have very oily eyelids, and your wear-time may vary if you do.

I found myself mesmerized by the beauty of Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'N' Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Midnight Blue– which struck me as the perfect deep purplish blue, and I fell madly in love with it from the first moment that I saw it in person. This shade can be built up for greater pigmentation and saturation, but it can also be worn more sparingly, and therefore less intensely. Purchase Again? Absolutely, because this color is spectacular!
Overall Assessment: I am happy with what I finished in September, and there were no duds to report. What did you use up, toss out, return or give away in September?

GOOD FAITH Exfoliating Toner + AHAs Review

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

GOOD FAITH Exfoliating Toner + AHAs is an ultra-effective nighttime exfoliating toner, with Niacinamide and natural fruit AHAs, that gently exfoliates dead skin cells while simultaneously hydrating and balancing the skin. Skin looks and feels refreshed, smooth and supple, and without drying or peeling. It has a very faint fruity aroma, from the ingredients, but it is neither long-lasting, nor in the least bit cloying. This toner is formulated for all skin types and it is cruelty-free, alcohol-free, fragrance-free and vegan. Since this does exfoliate the skin, albeit gently, it is imperative to use a high SPF sunscreen to protect the skin (which we should be doing anyway).
According to GOOD FAITH,

This multi-action formula tones and exfoliates for smooth and glowing skin in one simple step. A powerful blend of lactic acid, natural fruit acids and niacinamide helps clear pores, refine skin texture and even skin tone.

Sensitive skin? Use this formula in targeted areas only like the nose and chin to reduce build up for brighter skin without irritation.
Features:
  • Gently resurfaces uneven skin texture by removing dead skin cells, leaving it soft and renewed
  • Clarifies deep into pores removing dirt and makeup residue
  • Balances skin to control oil and refreshes skin moisture where needed
  • Preps skin to maximize the power of serums and moisturizers
  • For all skin types
  • Vegan, alcohol-free, fragrance-free
Directions: Start with clean, dry skin. Apply toner to a cotton pad, gently sweep over face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Let product absorb into the skin. Follow with serum, moisturizer, eye cream or SPF. Can be used daily. Slight tingling may occur. Please note: this is for external use only. May cause sun sensitivity, so please use SPF prior to sun exposure. If tingling persists for an extended time, consult your doctor.
Key Ingredients:
  • AHA COMPLEX: Curated blend of lactic acid and natural fruit AHAs exfoliate dead skin cells to promote a healthier complexion
  • NIACINAMIDE: Helps to improve uneven skin tone and dullness, while refining the look of pores
  • WITCH HAZEL: A natural astringent plant extract that helps purify, clarify and control oil

GOOD FAITH Gentle Cleanser + Vitamin E Review

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

GOOD FAITH Gentle Cleanser + Vitamin E is a wonderful light lathering gel cleanser that effectively cleans the skin, but it does so without drying or stripping the skin in the leas bit. In fact, skin is left hydrated, comfortable, soft and smooth. It can be used day and night and is well suited for all types of skin. It has quickly become one of my most reached-for cleansers, and I couldn't be happier with the results. It is cruelty-free, vegan, pregnancy-safe and very affordable.

According to GOOD FAITH,

This non-stripping and sulfate-free cleanser deeply cleanses dirt and makeup while leaving skin feeling soft and hydrated after each use. Gentle enough to be used twice a day, every day of the week but powerful enough to remove stubborn makeup and prevent build up in pores.

Many cleansers are formulated with harsh sulfates that cleanse and strip the skin of moisture leaving it feeling tight. This is intentionally done to trick users into thinking their skin is ultra clean when in reality it's causing irritation and damaging your moisture barrier. Stick with a gentle sulfate and fragrance free option to minimize irritation for hydrated and healthy skin.
Features:
  • Effectively cleanses and purifies to remove dirt, oil, makeup and impurities
  • Hydrates and replenishes moisture, leaving skin feeling smooth and soft
  • Sulfate-free and can be used daily without ever stripping or drying out skin
  • Protects skin from daily damage of free radicals and environmental stress
  • For all skin types
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Sodium Chloride, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Rosa Canina Flower Extract Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Cellulose Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid, Coconut Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Inulin, Sodium Phytate, Cellulose, Fructose, Glucose, Sodium Methyl Taurate, Phenoxyethanol.
