November 2023 Empties Galore for the Face & Body

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

This month I managed to finish 12 products, and two of them were sample sizes. I liked everything that I used up, and thoroughly enjoyed them. I should note that while this pile of empties seems like a lot, in the spirit of transparency they were all quite used up, and I simply focused on finishing them before they spoiled. Here is what I finished up in the month of November:

Erno Laszlo Phelityl Night Cream ($146.00 for 1.7 oz. from Erno LaszloNordstrom and Amazon): is pH-balancing and formulated to repair, strengthen and hydrate your skin while you sleep. It is very thick, but miraculously lightweight, fast-absorbing and non-greasy. It quickly melts into the skin, leaves behind no residue whatsoever, and deeply moisturizes. When I wake up my skin is so soft, supple, moisturized and luminous. Additionally, it softens the appearance of fine lines and makes my skin look incredible. It can also be used during the day, but it contains no sunscreen, and therefore you need to use a separate sunscreen if you use this during the day. It has a very light and pleasant aroma that quickly dissipates, and it can be used for all types of skin. It is perfect for my normal/combination skin, but I think that people with dry skin might prefer a richer cream at night. Purchase Again? I will definitely purchase more at some point in the future, but for now I have far too many open jars of cream to use first.

Fleur & Bee Youth Fairy Retinol Moisturizer ($40.00 for 1.5 oz. from Fleur & Bee and Amazon): is a wonderfully effective and affordable cruelty-free brand. This rich and nourishing antioxidant cream, which is formulated for all types of skin, features 0.03% retinol to increase skin cell turnover and lighten hyperpigmentation, and plant stem cells to protect and rejuvenate the skin. To offset any of the drying and peeling effects, often associated with retinol-based skincare products, Evening Primrose was selected to moisturize and smooth the skin. Unlike many retinol-based skincare products, Youth Fairy is quite gentle, and I experienced no redness, irritation, itching or peeling. The thick and emollient cream melts into the skin immediately leaving it nourished and luminous. It does take up to 12 weeks to see the full effects of the retinol, but I noticed that my skin was brighter after just a couple of weeks. This cream is also gluten-free and it has no detectable aroma. If you are seeking a gentle retinol, then this is a really nice one to consider.

It should be noted that it is very important to use a high SPF sunscreen, and reapplying it frequently, when using retinol-based products since they remove dead skin cells and leave the skin more vulnerable to the elements. It is also very wise to have your doctor check your moles and any skin irregularities– including, but limited to hyperpigmentation– to make sure that you do not have pre-cancerous lesions or spots, or skin cancer. Since I am not a medical doctor, I would urge you to see your physician to discuss the safety of adding retinol to your routine, and to make sure that none of your skin irregularities need medical attention instead of a skincare product. My doctor is very accustomed to looking over the ingredients in products that I seek to use, and she always carefully checks my skin for anything that might be, or could become, problematic. Purchase Again? I have several open jars and tubes of retinol-based products to use first, but I would definitely use this again!

Vitabrid C¹² Wrinkle Cream is ($70.00 for 1.69 oz. from Vitabrid C¹²Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom) is a mid-weight rich cream that melts into the skin, and the Shea Butter delivers serious moisture. Stabilized Vitamin C helps to even skin tone and lighten hyperpigmentation, and the novel peptides help plump fine lines leaving the skin smoother looking in appearance. This ultra-luxe, and velvety-textured, cream is such a pleasure to use and it makes skin look and feel exquisite. While I do not have wrinkles, I do have some fine expression lines, and this cream has definitely softened their appearance. There is no fragrance, and therefore people who are sensitive to fragrant skincare products will not have any problems with this cream in that regard. Purchase Again? I think that I might have another jar stashed somewhere, and will definitely use it!

Annmarie Skin Care Anti-Aging Facial Oil ($118.00 for 30ml. from Annmarie Skin Care and their Official Amazing Store): is a seriously gorgeous luxury face oil. While this glorious face oil is formulated for dry and mature skin, it is one of the finest and most effective oils to have graced my normal to combination skin. This ultra-luxe antioxidant-rich facial oil, which is velvety-to-the-touch, is infused with herbs and a symphony of more than 13 nourishing oils. Ingredients such as chia, goji berry, and broccoli firm and tighten the skin, and therefore soften the appearance of fine lines. Deeply moisturizing, this beautiful oil is lightweight and it effortlessly melts into the skin. It is neither greasy, nor does it leave behind any residue. I prefer to apply it to moist and warm freshly washed skin, and it immediately leaves my skin soft, smooth, supple and luminous. It is quite concentrated, and therefore I find the a single pump offers plenty of oil to cover my face, neck and décolleté, but your use may vary. It has the most hypnotic herbal aroma, but is not long-lasting or overpowering. Purchase Again? I am using a full size bottle as we speak, and I love it!

Aesop Damascan Rose Facial Treatment ($85.00 for 0.8 oz. from Aesop, Nordstrom, Space NK, Bluemercury, Revolve and Saks Fifth Avenue): is undoubtedly a very deeply nourishing and moisturizing face oil that will do wonders for dry and/or distressed skin, but it has also done incredible things for my normal/combination skin as well. It is a very concentrated, vitamin infused treatment oil that serves as a potent remedy for skin that needs intense hydration, but is so gentle and nourishing that my skin happily drinks it up and is left soft, supple, glowing, balanced, and very moisturized. I only need a couple of drops that I warm between my hands before massaging it into my slightly damp and warm face, neck and décolleté. It sinks in immediately and effortlessly, and it has an intoxicatingly hypnotic warm earthy rose scent that simply delights the senses. It is neither too rich for my skin, nor has it caused me to break out in the least. It just makes my skin look and feel amazing. Purchase Again? I will definitely consider it once I have finished some of my many open face oils.

Goldfaden MD Fleuressence Native Botanical Cell Oil ($129.00 for 1 oz. from Goldfaden MDCredo BeautyBloomingdale's and Amazon): If you are looking to try a new-to-you luxury face oil that is lightweight, fast-absorbing and incredibly nourishing and hydrating, then Goldfaden MD Fleuressence Native Botanical Cell Oil is worthy of your consideration. This delicate and delectable golden elixir boasts a light floral aroma that is an utter delight to the senses. This silky smooth ultra-luxe oil melts into the skin immediately moisturizing the skin and leaving it soft, smooth, supple and luminous. It boasts a thoroughly non-greasy texture that makes it the perfect candidate to be added to your daily moisturizer for added hydration, and it can be added to your favorite foundation for added luminosity. Furthermore, the antioxidant-rich formula, which is rich in Omega fatty acids, helps protect the skin against free-radical damage. After repeated use for about 5 weeks, I noted that the appearance of my fine lines were softened and my overall skin tone appeared more even and brightened. Purchase Again? DEFINITELY!

Fleur & Bee Just Dew It Hydrating Serum ($34.00 for 1 oz. from Fleur & Bee and the Fleur & Bee Amazon Store): This Hyaluronic Acid serum includes 14 nourishing actives that pamper and hydrate the skin with extraordinary efficacy. It is a lightweight and yet rich gel that leaves skin soft, smooth, hydrated and with a dewy glow. It is fast absorbing, it has a wonderful slightly floral aroma, and it softens the appearance of fine lines. This cruelty-free and vegan serum is as much a treat to the senses as it is to the skin, and it is remarkably affordable for such a luxurious serum. It is formulated for all skin types, and it is perfect all year long. Purchase Again? Definitely!

Elina Organics Vitamin C Elixir ($63.00 for 2 oz. from Elina Organics and their official Amazon Store): is a nourishing serum that contains Vitamin C, Rose Hips, Almond Oil, Green Tea and Sea Buckthorn to nourish and even skin complexions. This serum, which has the consistency and appearance of a lightweight moisturizer, melts into the skin and offers it immediate nourishment and hydration. If you have normal to combination skin, like me, then you can actually use this gem as your daily moisturizer, and if you have dry skin, then you will want to use it as a serum underneath your moisturizer. It also brightens the complexion, it fades hyperpigmentation and scars over time, and it soothes irritated skin. My skin is left soft, smooth, supple, brightened and with a pronounced clarity. It has a light herbal aroma, informed by its ingredients, not added fragrance, but it dissipates altogether once it is absorbed by the skin. Purchase Again? I just opened up a different Vitamin C serum, but I would love to get this one again in the future.

Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar ($44.00 for 3.4 oz. from Erno LaszloNordstrom and Look Fantastic): Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar does an exceptional job cleaning and exfoliating my skin, and it does so without drying, stripping or irritating. Skin is left soft, clear and luminous, and while it is now said to be formulated for all skin types, it used to be for normal, combination and oily skin types. I would say that dryer skin types would only use it periodically for its deep cleaning and exfoliating abilities, but not as a daily soap. I do like to use it with a cleansing oil, but sometimes I use it alone. My one grievance is that the bar used to be a hefty 6 oz., which was far more satisfying to use, and now it is nearly half the size. Purchase Again? Absolutely!
Spongellé Body Wash Infused Buffers ($12.00-$20.00 each from Spongellé): This particular buffer was limited edition from a while ago, but you really can't go wrong with any of their buffers. These sponges not only effectively remove dead skin cells, but they also leave the skin deliciously baby soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. Body wash infused body buffers are such a treat to use, and they really excel in their ability to clean and exfoliate the skin while delighting the senses with their delightful aromas. You simply dampen the body buffer with water to activate the lather to effortlessly clean and exfoliate the skin. Each sponge is filled with enough body wash for a minimum of 14 washes, and once you have used up all of the body wash, the sponge itself is still quite intact, and therefore all you need to do is use it in conjunction with your favorite liquid or bar soaps. The hanging ribbon allows the buffer to dry out easily, but I recommend hanging it outside of the moist environment of the shower to avoid bacterial growth. Purchase Again? I just opened up a new one!
Spongellé Botanica Candle in Tobacco Flower ($35.00 for 8 oz. from Spongellé): This is amazing candle has a rather hard to describe scent profile. The bottom notes, cedarwood and sandalwood, account for the tobacco flower sensibility, but it is mellowed by the top and middle notes to create a brilliantly conceived amalgam of these carefully selected aromas. If this were a perfume, it would be described as decidedly unisex in its composition and conception. Fragrance NotesTop: Bergamot, Green Fig. Middle: Rosemary, Juniper, Sheer Lavender. Bottom: Cedarwood, Sandalwood. Purchase Again? I just start burning another one of their delectable candles!

Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'n' Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Velvet Violet ($29.00 for 10g. from Charlotte TilburySephoraNordstromBloomingdale'sBeautylishSelfridgesCult Beauty and John Lewis): This wonderful formula is so creamy to the touch and easy to blend, and it glides across the skin without any tugging or pulling, and it deposits color evenly and effortlessly. It allows you to create a very clean crisp line, but gives you enough time before setting to make a smoky smudged line as well. Once it does set, it is completely budge-proof, and lasts on me all day long, and without a primer. I do not experience any transfer, smudging or fading, but I do not have very oily eyelids, and your wear-time may vary if you do. Purchase Again? I just opened another one!

Overall Assessment: I hope that I can do this well in December! What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in November? Any excellent or mediocre products to report?

October 2023 Empties for the Face, Body and Hair

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

In the month of October I finished up 13 products– 9 of which were full-sized and the remaining 4 were deluxe samples. There was not a single dud in the bunch, and I would happily use all of them again. However, in many cases I won't replace them in the near future because I have so many open products to use up before they spoil. While it looks as though I used a lot of products in October, it is important to note that many of these bottles, jars and tubes were simply finished up, and in some cases the were nearly empty. That said, it is always my goal to practice sustainability and mindfulness, and therefore I make a concerted effort to finish up products each month so that they aren't wasted.

Here is what I finished in October 2023:
Thinksport Epsom Salt Bubble Bath ($7.99-$8.49 for 8 oz. from Thinksport and Amazon): is an effective, and cruelty-free, bubble bath that is formulated to relieve sore muscles. Whether your muscles are sore from a vigorous workout or from a long and exhausting day, this bubble bath offers the perfect peaceful soak that soothes the spirit and relieves sore muscles. Instead of a pungent therapeutic aroma, that can be cloying, this wonderful bubble bath has a lovely citrus floral scent. I was so relaxed after my first use that I slept like a baby! Purchase Again? I have more bubble bath to use first, but I would definitely purchase this again.

RITUALS Fortune Oil Sweet Orange & Cedar Wood ($14.00 for 200 ml. from Rituals): RITUALS Fortune Oil Sweet Orange & Cedar Wood from the Laughing Buddha Collection is a wonderfully moisturizing shower oil for the body that functions in precisely the same way as the many facial cleansing oils that have recently flooded the market.

You simply apply a small amount of Fortune Oil Sweet Orange & Cedar Wood to your skin and as soon as it has contact with water it emulsifies and turns from an oil consistency to a thin milky emulsion that effectively cleans the skin, and leaves it delectably soft smooth and moisturized. The scent is a warm amalgam of Sweet Orange & Cedar Wood, and it is neither too sweet, nor too woodsy. While the scent is lovely it does not linger since it is, for the most part, washed away. Purchase Again? I will definitely purchase one of their shower oils once I use up more of my shower products.
Derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub ($32.50 for 2 oz. from Ulta): This is a wonderfully effective facial scrub. This exfoliator features tiny, and densely populated, exfoliating particles suspended in a creamy base that has enough grit to sweep away dead skin cells effortlessly. The formula is gentle, effective and non-stripping. Skin is left soft, silky smooth, supple and refreshed. It is a very concentrated formula– so this 2 oz. jar should last a long time unless you are using it on your face and body. Derma e suggests that it can be used on your hands, elbows, feet, knees– or anywhere you need to exfoliate rough skin, and I definitely agree that it is quite effective on rough skin in those regions as well. Purchase Again? Most definitely!
Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water ($15.00-$71.00 from Revolve, Neiman Marcus): is one of my holiest of holy grail products, and I have been using it for many years now. My eyes can be particularly sensitive when it comes to makeup and makeup removers, and I have even found many so-called gentle eye makeup removers to be very irritating for my eyes. Koh Gen Do's Cleansing Spa Water removes all traces of makeup and eye makeup without irritating sensitive eyes or skin, and it leaves the skin soft, clean and hydrated. On the nights that I am too tired to do my full skincare routine, I use this multi-tasker to clean my skin and remove all traces of makeup. Not only is it incredibly effective, but it neither strips the skin, nor does it leave behind an oily residue. Purchase Again? YES!

Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water Wipes ($62.00 for a 3-pack from Macy'sAmazonViolet Grey and Neiman Marcus): My eyes can be particularly sensitive when it comes to makeup and makeup removers, and I have even found many so-called gentle eye makeup removers to be very irritating to my eyes. When I was first introduced to Koh Gen Do's Cleansing Water and Cleansing Water Cloths I assumed that I would be disappointed as I had been so many times before. However, much to my surprise these products actually lived up to the claims made (in fact exceeded them). Not only did my eyes not sting, but it removes all traces of makeup, and the surrounding skin was left feeling soft and supple. Purchase Again? Without a doubt, I love these fabulous wipes, they are by far the best that I have ever used.
Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical Serum ($195.00 for  30 ml/ 1 oz. from Space NK, Neiman Marcus and Cult Beauty (210.00€): This lightweight and fast absorbing golden elixir boasts a delectable warm and earthy aroma from which one can detect the Rose Damascena Absolute, Jasminum Grandiflorum Flower and a fusion of the remaining essential oils. The intoxicating aromatherapeutic experience delights and calms the senses while it quiets the mind. I find that I slow down and inhale deeply as I massage in into my skin, and that any residual stress that I may have been experiencing just melts away. This ritual is utterly relaxing, and it heightens the sensory experience of using this luxe oil. This serum significantly bolsters radiance and it leaves skin silky smooth, soft and supple. I note a distinct brightening and evening of my skin tone, a lifting and softening on my fine lines, and an undeniable increase in the long term hydration of my skin. Purchase Again? I just opened a new bottle! This earns a definite A+!

GOOD FAITH Brightening Serum + Vitamin C ($28.00 for 1 oz. from GOOD FAITH): is a wonderful lightweight and fast absorbing hydrating hybrid serum that is lusciously emollient. It leaves skin very soft, silky smooth, hydrated and luminous. It softens and plumps the appearance of fine lines, and noticeably brightens the complexion.

While it is designated as fragrance-free, it does have a delicious light citrus aroma that is tempered by a clean herbal undercurrent, and the aroma is from the ingredients themselves, not added fragrance. It is formulated for all types of skin and it is vegan and cruelty-free. Purchase Again? Maybe at some point, but I currently have several Vitamin C serums to use up first.
TATCHA The Dewy Skin Cream ($72.00 for 1.7 oz. from TATCHA and Sephora): It a wonderful plumping, hydrating and antioxidant rich moisturizer that leaves skin luminous and happy. It is lightweight, fast absorbing and such a joy to use! Purchase Again? Not in the near future because I have far too many open moisturizers at the moment!

Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Gel Cream ($140.00 for 1.7 oz. from Erno Laszlo): is a moisture-rich, deeply hydrating and fast-absorbing gel cream that melts into the skin, leaves behind no residue whatsoever, and immediately delivers results. The antioxidant-rich cream is formulated to be utterly weightless and it does an exquisite job quenching dry and dehydrated skin. It calms and soothes inflamed skin, and leaves it soft, supple and luminous. While it contains fragrance, toward the middle of the ingredients, it doesn't have much of an aroma to speak of. Purchase Again? I thoroughly enjoyed this gel cream, and would definitely consider buying it next summer.

Dr. Barbara Sturm Face Cream ($75.00 for 0.50 oz. and $225.00 for 1.69 oz. from Sephora, Nordstrom and Bluemercury): I now understand why this brand, and indeed this cream, has such a cult following. Described as, " soothing anti-aging face moisturizer that targets the signs of aging, promotes skin regeneration, and is infused with power ingredient purslane to keep skin hydrated and radiant for 24 hours"– this cream is a serious contender. It melts into the skin immediately and calms, soothes and deeply hydrates the skin. Skin is left soft, smooth, supply and luminous. Purchase Again? It is at the top of my list as soon as I finish up more of my face creams!
Zion Health's Deep Cleansing Scalp & Hair Scrub Pink Grapefruit Peony ($16.31 for 4 oz. from iHerb): This low-lathering scrub contains gritty little exfoliation particles that gently remove dead skin cells, product build-up, dirt and excessive oils. It leaves scalp and hair clean and exfoliated without leaving them dry or stripped. Simply massage it into the hair and scalp to activate the light lather, then rinse thoroughly and follow with your favorite conditioner. This is a very effective formula, and I only need to use it once or twice a month, but your use may vary. The aroma, which is informed by the pink grapefruit and peony, is unsurprisingly a bright and cheery fruity floral. The scent is uplifting and pleasant, but it does not linger. Purchase Again? Probably not because I have several other scalp scrubs to use, and it will take forever to finish them, but if I didn't I would.

OUAI Wave Spray ($14.00 for 1.7 oz. and $28.00 for 4.9 oz. from Sephora and Ulta): This is a wonderful non-sticky spray for effortless looking beachy waves. It has a weightless texture, it doesn't flake or make hair crunchy, s I run out.and it is suitable for all types of hair. While I have curly hair, this wonderful spray offers my hair touchable hold and enhances my curls. Purchase Again? I have two more bottles, and will definitely purchase more as soon as I run out.
Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Eye Shadow Pencil in Dark Pearl ($29.00 for 0.06 oz. from Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Beautylish, Cult Beauty and Selfridges): is described as a "sparkling grey eyeshadow pencil for brown eyes," but it strikes me as a bit more of a bronzy taupe shade. It has stunning shimmer that does not migrate, and the consistency is silky smooth. It glides across the skin effortlessly, depositing color evenly, and it sets after about 30 seconds, as suggested, so you want to blend it out rather quickly since I have found it budge proof after it sets. Whether you wear it as an eyeshadow, or as an eyeliner– it offers all day wear without any creasing or migrating on my eyes. I should note that I do no have particularly oily eyelids, and therefore I can wear this without a primer and it stays put until I remove it, but your wear may vary. It is also very important to avoid tightlining, or wearing this in your waterline because it "is infused with Synthetic Sapphire, a mineral gemstone" and Charlotte Tilbury suggests that you immediately, and thoroughly, rinse your eyes with water should it get into them. I have sensitive eyes, and always avoid putting liner on my waterline, but even when I used to I never put shimmering liners that close to the eye. Purchase Again? Oh yes, it's just that stunning!
Overall Assessment: I am quite pleased that I managed to finish up 13 products in October! What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in October? Any serious hits or misses to report?

September 2023 Empties for the Face and Body

Press Sample & Purchased (Affiliate Links)

September has already come and gone! How is that even possible?! I managed to use up 11 products, and gleefully placed the empty container in my recycle bin. It feels so good to finish things up before they turn, and I hope that I am able to do a good job in October. Here is what I finished up, and my thoughts about each of these products:
Spongellé Riviera Collection Body Buffer in Ibiza Bloom ($18.00 from Spongellé):  Spongellé's brilliant body wash-infused sponges effectively and gently clean and exfoliate the skin, and they also leave the it deliciously baby soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. They really excel in their ability to clean and exfoliate the skin while delighting the senses with their delightful aromas. Ibiza Bloom NotesTop: Orange Flower, Magnolia, Green Vines. Middle: Jasmine Buds, Tuberose, Ylang. Base: Sandalwood, Musk, Amber. Purchase Again? It appears that this line was discontinued, but there are so many other lovely body buffers from which to choose. I have already opened another one!

Cetaphil Deep Cleansing Bar ($10.82 for. 3-Pack from Amazon, Walmart, Target and iHerb): I can't believe that I have never reviewed this wonderful bar before! This gentle cleansing bar can be used on the face and body, and it deeply cleans without stripping the skin. Gentle enough for sensitive skin, this bar does what it says and it is rich, creamy and so satisfying to use! Purchase Again? Without question!

Baylis & Harding Goodness Natural Body Wash in Lemongrass Ginger ($6.79 for 16.9 oz. from Amazon and Target): I have been gleefully using Baylis & Harding body washes since the British brand launched in the US a few years ago, and their truly affordable luxury products are a treat to the senses without putting a dent in your wallet. If you are a fan of brands like Molton Brown, you will be elated by this affordable alternative.

One of my most coveted products is the Baylis & Harding Goodness Natural Body Wash in Lemongrass & Ginger, and I have really been enjoying it a lot these days. The uplifting aroma is a delight to the senses without being in the least bit overpowering. Purchase Again? Yes, as long as they make it!

Curél Foaming Facial Wash ($15.00 for 5 oz. from their Amazon Store): I was particularly interested to see whether this foaming and moisturizing cleanser, which is made for dry and sensitive skin, would be a good match for my normal/combination skin. I am a fan of hydrating cleansers that are gentle enough for sensitive skin, but I like them to rinse clean without leaving behind any sort of residue that requires a second cleanse (when they would be used last in a double cleansing routine).

This cleanser exceeded my expectations. It has a wonderful and dense foam that thoroughly cleans the skin without stripping it in the least bit, and it rinses clean without any sort of residue. It is fragrance-free (and unscented) and it leaves my skin silky-smooth and hydrated without feeling as though I need to wash my skin again to feel clean. It is gentle, a pleasure to use, and it feels like a great match for my normal/combination skin. Purchase Again? Definitely!

100% Pure Watermelon Cucumber Water Locking Facial Mist ($25.00 for 1.7 oz. from 100% Pure): This is an ultra-hydrating mist that refreshes, plumps and leaves skin luminous. Like their serum and moisturizer, this facial mist also has a wonderful watermelon and cucumber aroma, but it fades away quickly. Purchase Again? Probably not because I have a lot of moisture mists to use up, but I really liked this one a lot.

GOOD FAITH Softening Moisturizer + Plant-Derived Squalane ($26.00 for 1.69 oz. from GOOD FAITH and Amazon): is a wonderful lightweight and fast absorbing antioxidant-rich moisturizer that leaves my skin deeply moisturized all day long. This nourishing lotion has a very light citrus aroma that fades as soon as it melts into the skin. It can be used as a daytime and nighttime moisturizer, and it leaves my skin soft and smooth. It is formulated for all skin types, but if you have particularly dry skin you might want a richer cream during the colder months of the year. Purchase Again? I would if I wasn't swimming in moisturizers!

AveSeena Ageless Perfection Cream ($157.00 for 1.7 oz. from AveSeena and AveSeena's Amazon Store): is an ultra-nourishing cream that is lightweight, incredibly emollient, and it melts into the skin leaving it soft, smooth, supple, richly moisturized and velvety to the touch, and without any sort of residue left behind. It makes your skin feel so good that it might be difficult to keep yourself from repeatedly touching your face!

It is formulated for sensitive, dry, oily, prematurely aged, mature, combination and balanced skin, therefore it was formulated for essentially everyone. It was created to effectively treat dryness, dehydration, dullness and uneven skin tone. It can be used both as a daytime and a nighttime moisturizer, but you will need a separate sunscreen if you use it during the day.

It has a gorgeous aroma that is informed by a delightful compilation of Rose Damascena, cucumber hydrosols and lavender, and the scent is 100% natural from the listed ingredients. It offers a wondrous and luxurious aromatherapeutic sensory experience without being in the least bit overpowering. Purchase Again? Perhaps once I have finished up more of my open jars of face cream.

Erno Laszlo Phelityl Night Cream ($146.00 for 1.7 oz. from Erno Laszlo, Nordstrom and Amazon): which is pH-balancing, is formulated to repair, strengthen and hydrate your skin while you sleep. I already opened another jar!

I already opened another jar!

Serendipitous Eau de Parfum Spray ($50.00 for 50 ml. from Lucky Scent): is a truly delectable fragrance with notes of Cocoa, Tahitian Vanilla and Blood Orange. While it may sound more like a gastronomic delight than one might imagine for a perfume, it is infinitely wearable, and the beautiful fusion of its notes create an aroma that is at once sweet, smooth, creamy, deep, rich, warm and hypnotic. In fact, this tantalizing fragrance is intoxicatingly addictive, soothing and scrumptious. Once it wears down, its sillage lacks longevity, but instead it sits close to the skin and mellows so as not to impose itself on passersby. I absolutely love this fragrance, and its warmth is perfect for the Autumn. Purchase Again? I am contemplating it because this smells utterly delectable!
Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'n' Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Midnight Blue ($29.00 for 10g. from Charlotte TilburySephoraNordstromBloomingdale'sBeautylishSelfridgesCult Beauty and John Lewis): This wonderful formula is so creamy to the touch and easy to blend, and it glides across the skin without any tugging or pulling, and it deposits color evenly and effortlessly.

I found myself mesmerized by the beauty of Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'N' Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Midnight Blue– which struck me as the perfect deep purplish blue, and I fell madly in love with it from the first moment that I saw it in person. This shade can be built up for greater pigmentation and saturation, but it can also be worn more sparingly, and therefore less intensely. Purchase Again? Absolutely, because this color is spectacular!
Overall Assessment: I am happy with what I finished in September, and there were no duds to report. What did you use up, toss out, return or give away in September?

Beauty Empties for September 2022

Press Sample and Purchased (Affiliate Links)

I had a suspicion that I wasn't going to finish up nearly as many products in September as I had in August, and the glaring absence of skincare products accounts for this disparity. I finished soaps, body washes, haircare products and an eyeliner pencil– amounting to 6 full-size products. While this isn't too bad, I am always happier when I finish up more skincare products before they expire. Here is what I finished in September:

Spongellé Hand and Body Washes are extraordinary additions to Spongellé's collection. Spongellé, a Los Angeles based company, creates beautiful products that delight the senses and the skin, and they make wonderful gifts. Bulgarian Rose is absolutely gorgeous scents and they clean the skin without any stripping or drying. In fact, these beautifully aromatic Hand and Body Washes leave skin soft, smooth and hydrated. Notes: Top: Orange, Clove, Strawberry. Middle: Rose, White Flowers, Jasmine. Base: Woody, Sandalwood, Ambery. Purchase Again? Forever and ever! I just opened another bottle! ($22.00 each for 11 oz. from Spongellé).

Spongellé Riviera Collection Body Buffers are brilliant body wash-infused sponges effectively and gently clean and exfoliate the skin, and they also leave the it deliciously baby soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. They really excel in their ability to clean and exfoliate the skin while delighting the senses with their delightful aromas. Spongellé Riviera Collection Body Buffer in Sicilian Blood Orange NotesTop: Blood Orange, Starfruit, Gerandine. Middle: Passionfruit, Mango Water, Dahlia Flower. Base: Sandalwood, Aquatic Musk. Purchase Again? I already opened another one (in another scent). ($18.00 each from Spongellé).

Potager Soap Co. Unscented Oatmeal Soap is a wondrous unscented oatmeal soap is perfect for people with sensitive skin who need a soothing bar to nourish and pamper their skin. The rich and creamy lather is very moisturizing, and satisfying to use. Purchase Again? I have already opened up another one of their amazing soaps! ($9.98 for 4.5 oz. from Potager Soap Co.).

René Furterer Triphasic Texturizing Conditioner  This is a lightweight, and yet very hydrating, conditioner that makes hair manageable, frizz-free and makes hair look thicker, healthier and more shiny. It is formulated to stimulate hair follicles, and I noticed an immediate difference in the way my hair looked and felt when I was using this. Purchase Again? Definitely, if I ever need it in the future. ($12.00-$34.00 for 1 oz. to 5 oz. from René FurtererDermstoreLovelySkin and SkinStore).

Derma E Bonding Hair Repair Oil is an ultra-lightweight oil that not only nourishes and hydrates hair and scalp, but it also effectively fights frizz and fly-aways while leaving hair ridiculously soft, smooth and shiny. It has a wonderful light fruity aroma that is informed by its natural ingredients, rather than an artificial fragrance, and while I find the scent delightful, it is not long lasting. Purchase Again? I have other hair oils that I am using currently, but I will definitely buy this in the future. ($12.95 for 1 oz. from Derma E and Ulta).
Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'N' Kohl Iconic Liquid Eye Pencils are really spectacular.
One of the first things that I noticed about this wonderful formula, when I started buying these pencils years ago, was the extent to which they are so creamy to the touch and easy to blend. Barbarella Brown, shown above, is a deep and blackened brown without red undertones.
It glides across the skin without any tugging or pulling, and it deposits color evenly and effortlessly. It allows you to create a very clean crisp line, but gives you enough time before setting to make a smoky smudged line as well. Once it does set, it is completely waterproof and lasts on me all day long, and without a primer. I do not experience any transfer, smudging or fading, but I do not have very oily eyelids, and your wear-time may vary if you do. Purchase Again? Absolutely!

($29.00 from NordstromBeautylishSephoraBloomingdale'sSelfridgesCult Beauty).

Overall Assessment: 6 full-size products isn't too bad, but hopefully I can finish some of those almost empty skincare products in October. What did you finish ,toss, give away or return in September? Any spectacularly good or bad products to report?
