January 2023 Empties for the Face, Body & Hair

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

I managed to use of 7 full-size products in January, and I am pleased by this accomplishment. I liked everything enough to purchase each of them again, and I definitely enjoy using products from these brands. Here is what I finished up in January:
Derma E Vitamin C Gentle Daily Cleansing Paste ($16.95 for 4 oz. from Derma EUltaTarget and iHerb): is a wonderful hardworking gently exfoliating lathering cleanser that can also be used as an effective mask. As an exfoliating cleanser, you simply apply it to your face, neck and décolleté and the lovely lather and exfoliating particles effectively and gently clean the skin and remove dead skin cells without stripping or drying it out. As a mask you just apply a generous amount to the face and leave it on until it dries down (about 5 minutes), then with damp fingers gently massage to activate the exfoliating particles. then thoroughly rinse with warm water. The result is scrumptiously soft and smooth skin. There is no detectable scent, therefore if you are sensitive to aromatic skincare, you will have no issue with this cleansing paste. Purchase Again? I have another tube ready to go!

Shu Uemura Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil ($15.00-$98.00 for 1.69 oz to 15.22 oz. Shu Uemura USA): This ultra-luxe rich and emollient cleansing oil has a luscious lightweight consistency that leaves skin soft, smooth, supple and luxuriously hydrated. While it can be used by all skin types, I suspect that it will be coveted by people with normal to dry skin. When water is introduced, this cleansing oil also transforms into a rich and creamy milky emulsion that gently removes every trace of dirt and makeup without ever stripping the skin, and it leaves skin velvety soft and smooth without leaving behind a greasy residue. It has a warm and creamy aroma that I find intoxicatingly delicious. Purchase Again? I am about to open another bottle!

Spongellé Sugar Dahlia Hand & Body Wash ($24.00 for 11 oz. from Spongellé): is an extraordinary additions to Spongellé's collection. Spongellé, a Los Angeles based company, creates beautiful products that delight the senses and the skin, and they make wonderful gifts. This is an absolutely gorgeous scent, and it cleans the skin without any stripping or drying. In fact, all of their these beautifully aromatic Hand and Body Washes leave skin soft, smooth and hydrated. Sugar Dahlia: Top: Citrus Nuances, Solar Accord. Middle: Midnight Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Freesia, Muguet, Neroli. Base: Musk. Purchase Again? I just opened another scent!

Rituals The Ritual of Sakura Caring Shower Oil ($12.50 for 6.7 oz. from Rituals): is a wonderfully moisturizing shower oil for the body that functions in precisely the same way as the many facial cleansing oils that have recently flooded the market. You simply apply a small amount of oil to your skin and as soon as it has contact with water it emulsifies and turns from an oil consistency to a thin milky emulsion that effectively cleans the skin, and leaves it delectably soft smooth and moisturized. The beautiful scent of Cherry Blossom is a delight to the senses, and fills the air with its lovely aroma. While the scent is lovely it does not linger since it is, for the most part, washed away. Skin is left clean, soft, smooth and hydrated. Purchase Again? I have more of their Shower Oils waiting to be opened!

Potager Soap Co. Minted Lemon Tea ($9.98 for 4.5 oz. from Potager Soap Co.): When Potager states that the scent of spearmint is mood elevating, they are not exaggerating. The smell of this bar puts me in a very good mood. The spearmint is tempered by a hint of lemon, and the way in which the aroma bursts forth is enough to put a smile on your face. The rich and creamy lather is very satisfying, and the moisturizing formula leaves the skin soft and supple. Purchase Again? Definitely!

Bed Head After Party Smoothing Cream ($19.99 for 3.4 oz. from Ulta and Select Salons Nationwide): My sister introduced me to this styling wonder years ago, and I fell in love with it immediately. A small amount is all you need to fight frizz and fly-aways, make unmanageable hair silky smooth, shiny and absolutely gorgeous. It has a sweet aroma that is pleasant and unobtrusive. You do not have to have curly hair to benefit from it, just the desire for manageable silky smooth hair. For reference, while my hair is wildly curly, my sister's is perfectly straight, and we both use this stuff! Purchase Again? I have a lot of styling products to use, but I will definitely get this again in the future.

CRYSTAL Essence Pomegranate Mineral Deodorant Roll-On ($6.79 for 2.25 oz. from The CrystalWalmart and Walgreens): Available in a delightful array of scents, and an unscented variety, these natural roll-on deodorants offer me all-day protection and they neither stain clothing, nor do they irritate my sensitive skin. They are not antiperspirants, and therefore will not prevent sweating. Purchase Again? YES!

Overall Assessment: I am actually a little surprised that I finished up this many full-size products in January! What did you finish, toss out, give away or return in January? Any particularly good or products to report?

December 2022 Beauty Empties to Bid the Year Farewell

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

I used up 6 full-size products in the busy month of December, and not a single one of them was a skincare product! I only used hair and body products, but they were all absolutely noteworthy.
Rituals Zensation Organic Rice Milk & Cherry Blossom Foaming Shower Gel (Discontinued scent): I fell in love with this innovative shower gel from the very first moment that I used it. It's an extraordinary take on the ordinary, and for me it makes my bathing experience anything but mundane. The unique gel to foam technology not only makes it immensely fun to use, but it exceeds my every expectation of what a body cleansing gel should do. It cleans beautifully, smells glorious, and leaves the skin lusciously hydrated and soft. Furthermore, the rich dense foamy texture lends itself to being one seriously amazing shaving cream that cleanses, softens, and gives a seriously close shave. My legs have been transformed into the most soft and silky skin imaginable, and this gorgeous product has quickly given the boot to all of my other shaving creams! Purchase Again? I have a couple of other scents from Rituals, and will open another one soon!

Spongellé Body & Soul Detox Buffer in Cosmic Lavender ($28.00 from Spongellé): This is a body wash infused buffer with ashwagandha root extract, and it includes its own chakra stone for meditation and cleansing. Helping to wash away negativity, each crystal creates a new found sense of energy– based upon the 7 chakras. The scent is lovely, and it thoroughly cleans and leaves skin soft and exfoliated. Violet is Cosmic Lavender (Crown Chakra). Purchase Again? I have more from this collection that I am about to open!

Potager Soap Co. Rosemary Lemongrass Soap ($9.98 for 4.5 oz. from Potager Soap Co.): This soap strikes the perfect balance between the aroma of the Rosemary and the Lemongrass. Each scent tempers the other in the most delectable way. It is a very moisturizing bar with a very satisfying creamy lather, and it is an absolute delight to use. Purchase Again? I just opened another Potager Soap Co.!

Viori Shampoo Hair Bar Hidden Waterfall™ Sweet-Musk Scented ($18.00 for 3.5 oz. from SephoraViori and the Viori Amazon Store): This beautifully fragrant shampoo bar boasts a satisfying lather that thoroughly cleans the hair and scalp without drying, stripping or leaving behind an oily residue. This particular bar is best suited for dry and normal hair, and it's gorgeous decorative floral motif is a luxurious delight to behold. Purchase Again? I have a lot of shampoo to use up first, but I will happily buy this in the future.
Spongellé Eau de Toilette in Peony Flower ($28.00 for 0.3 oz. from Spongellé): This is a striking floral that is the perfect embodiment of a huge bouquet of sweet peonies. The fruity floral aroma, which is informed by Rose, Waterlily and Papaya Flower also has a touch of crisp Red Apple, and the Musk in the base adds a beautiful layer of complexity to this lovely composition. Once again, this fetching fragrance sits close enough to the skin that it will never enter the room before you do. Purchase Again? I have a lot of open fragrances to use, but would happily use this again!

Spongellé Eau de Toilette in Blackberry ($28.00 for 0.3 oz. from Spongellé): What a lovely surprise, and it really does smell like "summer in a bottle" as Spongellé asserts. The Citrus and Blackberry are harmoniously juxtaposed with the Pink Jasmine and Vanilla Sugar, and the base notes of Sweet Musk and White Amber give the overall composition a warm and creamy depth without sacrificing the light elements that the top and middle notes provide. It is a gorgeous and infinitely wearable scent that delights the senses, and it sits close enough to the skin that it never enters the room before you do. Purchase Again? I would happily use this again!

Overall Assessment: I throughly enjoyed using all of these products, and really love all four of these brands. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in December?

Beauty Empties for September 2022

Press Sample and Purchased (Affiliate Links)

I had a suspicion that I wasn't going to finish up nearly as many products in September as I had in August, and the glaring absence of skincare products accounts for this disparity. I finished soaps, body washes, haircare products and an eyeliner pencil– amounting to 6 full-size products. While this isn't too bad, I am always happier when I finish up more skincare products before they expire. Here is what I finished in September:

Spongellé Hand and Body Washes are extraordinary additions to Spongellé's collection. Spongellé, a Los Angeles based company, creates beautiful products that delight the senses and the skin, and they make wonderful gifts. Bulgarian Rose is absolutely gorgeous scents and they clean the skin without any stripping or drying. In fact, these beautifully aromatic Hand and Body Washes leave skin soft, smooth and hydrated. Notes: Top: Orange, Clove, Strawberry. Middle: Rose, White Flowers, Jasmine. Base: Woody, Sandalwood, Ambery. Purchase Again? Forever and ever! I just opened another bottle! ($22.00 each for 11 oz. from Spongellé).

Spongellé Riviera Collection Body Buffers are brilliant body wash-infused sponges effectively and gently clean and exfoliate the skin, and they also leave the it deliciously baby soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. They really excel in their ability to clean and exfoliate the skin while delighting the senses with their delightful aromas. Spongellé Riviera Collection Body Buffer in Sicilian Blood Orange NotesTop: Blood Orange, Starfruit, Gerandine. Middle: Passionfruit, Mango Water, Dahlia Flower. Base: Sandalwood, Aquatic Musk. Purchase Again? I already opened another one (in another scent). ($18.00 each from Spongellé).

Potager Soap Co. Unscented Oatmeal Soap is a wondrous unscented oatmeal soap is perfect for people with sensitive skin who need a soothing bar to nourish and pamper their skin. The rich and creamy lather is very moisturizing, and satisfying to use. Purchase Again? I have already opened up another one of their amazing soaps! ($9.98 for 4.5 oz. from Potager Soap Co.).

René Furterer Triphasic Texturizing Conditioner  This is a lightweight, and yet very hydrating, conditioner that makes hair manageable, frizz-free and makes hair look thicker, healthier and more shiny. It is formulated to stimulate hair follicles, and I noticed an immediate difference in the way my hair looked and felt when I was using this. Purchase Again? Definitely, if I ever need it in the future. ($12.00-$34.00 for 1 oz. to 5 oz. from René FurtererDermstoreLovelySkin and SkinStore).

Derma E Bonding Hair Repair Oil is an ultra-lightweight oil that not only nourishes and hydrates hair and scalp, but it also effectively fights frizz and fly-aways while leaving hair ridiculously soft, smooth and shiny. It has a wonderful light fruity aroma that is informed by its natural ingredients, rather than an artificial fragrance, and while I find the scent delightful, it is not long lasting. Purchase Again? I have other hair oils that I am using currently, but I will definitely buy this in the future. ($12.95 for 1 oz. from Derma E and Ulta).
Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'N' Kohl Iconic Liquid Eye Pencils are really spectacular.
One of the first things that I noticed about this wonderful formula, when I started buying these pencils years ago, was the extent to which they are so creamy to the touch and easy to blend. Barbarella Brown, shown above, is a deep and blackened brown without red undertones.
It glides across the skin without any tugging or pulling, and it deposits color evenly and effortlessly. It allows you to create a very clean crisp line, but gives you enough time before setting to make a smoky smudged line as well. Once it does set, it is completely waterproof and lasts on me all day long, and without a primer. I do not experience any transfer, smudging or fading, but I do not have very oily eyelids, and your wear-time may vary if you do. Purchase Again? Absolutely!

($29.00 from NordstromBeautylishSephoraBloomingdale'sSelfridgesCult Beauty).

Overall Assessment: 6 full-size products isn't too bad, but hopefully I can finish some of those almost empty skincare products in October. What did you finish ,toss, give away or return in September? Any spectacularly good or bad products to report?

EMPTIES JUNE 2022 FOR THE FACE, BODY & HAIR

Press Sample & Purchased (Affiliate Links)

I have really been making a concerted effort to use up as many open products as I can since it really bothers me when things go bad before I finish using them. I managed to use up 6 full-size and 3 sample-size products in June, and while I feel pretty good about that, I do wish that I had managed to use a few more. I have numerous products that are on the verge of going bad, and I hope to finish them before they no longer are fit to be used. Here is what I finished up in June:

Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser ($13.00-$38.00 3oz-16oz. from Philosophy and Nordstrom): Formulated for all types of skin, this non-stripping cleanser does an enviable job thoroughly cleaning the skin and removing makeup without any signs of drying. It is fragrance free, it forms a very satisfying creamy lather and it leaves the skin lightly hydrated and feeling incredibly soft. Purchase Again? I liked it enough to use it again, but I have too many open cleansers to use before I buy another one.

Mamonde Petal Spa Oil to Foam Cleansing Oil (This product appears to have been discontinued): This is a luscious and luxurious foaming cleansing oil that removes every trace of makeup, and it leaves skin soft, smooth, supple and hydrated. It essentially functions as a double cleanser in a single bottle. It contains soapberry extract, which is an effective natural surfactant, that gently cleanses makeup, dirt, oil, sunscreen and grime without drying the skin. The creamy oil transforms into a satisfying foam with the most luscious Damask Rose Oil aroma, and to say that it is a joy to use is an understatement. Purchase Again? I loved this so much, and hope that they bring it back!
Tata Harper Rejuvenating Serum ($130.00 for 1 oz. and $180.00 for 1.7 oz. for 1 oz.from Space NKSephoraNordstromNet-A-PorterCult BeautyThe Detox MarketCredo BeautyNeiman MarcusSelfridges and Bergdorf Goodman): I managed to use numerous deluxe samples of this serum, and the more that I used it the more obsessed I became. It is an ultra-hydrating serum that is lightweight and very fast absorbing, and it immediately gives the skin a dewy luminous glow. The antioxidant-rich formula protects the skin against free-radicals, the Hyaluronic Acid binds moisture and plumps fine lines, and the vitamins, natural oils and extracts soften the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and leave the skin soft, smooth, moisturized and luminous. There is no residue left behind whatsoever, and the fruity natural aroma is neither cloying, nor long-lasting. Purchase Again? Without question!
Potager Soap Co. Natural Lavender Soap ($7.98 for 4.5 oz. from Potager Soap Co.): This lovely soap is a delightful lavender dream-come-true. The rich and creamy lather effectively and thoroughly cleans the skin and rinses clean without stripping or drying. Furthermore, it delights the senses, and calms the spirit, with its sublime lavender aroma. If you love the fragrant magnificence of lavender, then you must experience this fetching soap. Purchase Again? I still have 3 of their of their other soaps to use first, but I will definitely purchase this one once I run out!

Kneipp Relaxing Lavender Shower Foam & Body Wash ($12.00-$16.00 for 6.8 oz. from Kneipp's Amazon StoreUlta and SkinStore): is a delectably aromatic shower foam that is creamy-dreamy, it fills the shower with the sweet scent of lavender, and it is wonderfully hydrating. Not only does it clean the skin thoroughly, and without any drying or stripping, but it also works small miracles for shaving the legs and underarms. I have used this product for a very long time, and was surprised to find a hidden can at the back of my cabinet, and I am just overjoyed to have made that discovery! Purchase Again? Oh yes, this is heavenly!
SHU UEMURA Art of Hair Wonder Worker Air Dry/Blow Dry Multi-Tasking Primer ($33.00 for 5 oz. from SHU UEMURA Art of Hair and The Bay): This is a lightweight lotion primer that can be used to hydrate, detangle, eradicate frizz, smooth and condition hair. It can be used for air or blow drying, and it leaves hair notably radiant and silky. It is color-treated hair safe, and can be used on all types of hair. I typically use it when I air dry my hair, and it really makes my curly, dry tresses manageable and lustrous. Purchase Again? I think that I may have another bottle in the back of my cabinet! I would definitely purchase another bottle!
René Furterer Complexe 5 Stimulating Plant Concentrate ($50.00 for 1.6oz. from René FurtererLovelySkinRevolve and Amazon): is a pre-shampoo treatment that detoxes the scalp, by cleansing and purifying it, and the warming effect helps to improve microcirculation. It is soothing, invigorating and makes the scalp feel amazing, and my hair also looks and feels wonderful after using it. You simply apply it to the scalp and then massage for a few minutes, and then leave it in for about 5-10 minutes. Be sure to shampoo twice, to remove the residual oil, and then condition hair as you would normally. It has a wonderful orange aroma that is punctuated by the lavender oil, and it is such an amazing treat to the senses. Purchase Again? I already opened my full-size bottle!

René Furterer 5 Sens Enhancing Dry Oil ($48.00 for 3.3 oz. from René FurtererAmazon and LovelySkin): is a beautifully fast absorbing dry oil that can be used on the hair and body. It has a lovely soft aroma that is a treat to the senses, but it isn't long lasting or in the least bit cloying. When I use it on my body, it melts into the skin and leaves it soft, supple, hydrated and nourished. For the hair, it offers extraordinary hydration and leaves locks soft, smooth and manageable. It tames frizz and fly-aways, and it gives hair a glossy shine. Purchase Again? I have a full-size bottle in use!
Overall Assessment: Not too bad, but I wish that I could have finished up a few more things. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in June? Any particularly amazing products, or duds to report?

BEAUTY PRODUCT EMPTIES FOR MARCH 2022

Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

It's hard to believe that March 2022 has already come and gone, but now it is springtime! I didn't use as many skincare products as I thought that I might, but I still manages to work my way through the remainder of 9 full-size products. Here is what I finished up in March:

Potager Soap Co. Natural Secret Garden Soap ($8.98 for 4.5 oz. from Potager Soap Co.): Secret Garden is a wonderful amalgam of lavender, patchouli, geranium and rose petals. The notable pungency of the patchouli is tempered by the rose, geranium and lavender and the result is a warm, rich and creamy aroma that is an utter delight to the senses. The rich lather rinses clean, but never strips the skin. Purchase Again? YES! I already started using another soap from this wonderful company!

Baylis & Harding Rose & Geranium Natural Hand Wash ($5.99 each for 16.9 oz. from Target): is the perfect pick if you love the aroma of freshly cut roses with a slight twist of geranium. Their hand soaps are affordable and sustainable luxury washes that are a joy to use and they smell utterly delectable. Furthermore, they leave your hands soft and moisturized, rather than dry and stripped. Purchase Again? YES! I already opened another bottle!

AHAVA Mineral Botanic Velvet Cream Wash in Lotus & ChestnutThis body wash gently cleanses the skin without stopping it, or leaving it taut. It soothes and moisturizes the skin with macadamia oil, organic plant extracts and Dead Sea Minerals– leaving skin silky smooth. It has a delicious nutty, fruity aroma that I find intoxicatingly good! Purchase Again? I would, but they appear to have discontinued this scent!

African Botanics Marula Botanical Hand Cream ($55.00 for 2 oz. from African BotanicsNet-A-PorterBluemercury and Revolve): The ultra-emollient luxury oil-infused cream boasts a refreshingly creamy lightweight texture that sinks into the skin immediately and doesn't leave hands in the least bit greasy. If you adhere to the belief that one needs to use thick and greasy hand creams in order to stave-off and heal dry and chapped hands, then you will be astonished by the efficacy of this ingenious hand cream. In fact, I think that it is more accurate to classify Marula Botanical Hand Cream as a cutting-edge antioxidant-rich anti-aging serum/cream hybrid that protects, nourishes, hydrates, soothes, brightens and repairs the skin with great efficacy.

Not only are my hands soft, supple and ultra moisturized, but they are left with the type of pronounced luminosity that I have only ever experienced in luxurious serums and beauty oils for the face. The delectable warm and earthy scent heightens the sensory experience of using this luxe hand cream, but it does fade soon upon application, and therefore won't pose a problem for those among you who prefer scent-free products.

It is noteworthy that the formula is very concentrated, and the effects are very long-lasting– therefore a single tube goes a very very long way.  If you treat yourself to one new body product this season, then African Botanics Marula Botanical Hand Cream should be at the top of your list. I kid you not, this hand cream is that extraordinary. Purchase Again? YES! This is a truly amazing hand cream!

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Murato Volume Hydro-Texturing Mist ($42.00 for 3.3 oz. from Shu Uemura Art of Hair and Sephora): This texturizing spray adds volume to hair, and is perfect for making beachy waves. It has the same light aroma as the other products from this collection, but the scent dissipates very quickly. Purchase Again? DEFINITELY! I already miss it!

Briogeo Don't Despair Repair Deep Conditioning Mask ($38.00 for 8.2 oz. from Space NK, Sephora and Nordstrom): That I have naturally curly hair means that I must deeply condition it, and I must do so frequently. I need a deep conditioner that really hydrates my hair, but doesn't weigh it down, and that tames frizz and fly-aways. This mask is cruelty-free, as is Briogeo in general, and it contains 98% natural ingredients. There are no silicones to weigh down my hair, and it does not contain parabens, phthalates or artificial dyes. Additionally, it is safe for color treated and otherwise chemically processed hair. It deeply nourishes and hydrates my hair, gives it a glossy shine and leaves it unbelievably soft and manageable. Furthermore, it effectively detangles hair, and banishes frizz and flyaways. The rich and thick mask is concentrated, therefore you don't have to use a lot, and it has a delectable non-lingering aroma. I generally leave it on for about 10 minutes, but when I really want to take it to the next level I leave it on for 30-45 minutes. Purchase Again? It's at the top of my list once I finish a few more of my open hair masks.
LOVINAH Copper Peptide & EGF Pro-Aging Collagen Ampoules with Sea Kelp Bioferment ($125.00 for 4 x 5ml ampoules from LOVINAH, and Macy's): This is a "watery, supercharged serum with Copper Peptides and vegan Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF). Copper peptides are potent skin regeneration actives that improve the appearance of skin, helping to increase skin thickness & reducing the appearance of wrinkles. EGF has a multitude of benefits including the acceleration of skin healing, skin renewal & the slowing down of the thinning of skin. It helps to boost collagen & elastin in the skin." Note: This serum is like a booster serum and doesn't contain any lipid components. You can either layer under another water-based serum (and then oil on top) or directly under an oil. You can also add it like a booster to your moisturizer or serums (that do not contain acids) The only restriction is that it cannot be layered with vitamin C - L-Ascorbic acid, or added to any serum with vitamin C (oil soluble vitamin C esters are ok). Purchase Again? At some point, definitely.
May Lindstrom The Blue Cocoon Solid Oil Facial Concentrate ($180.00 for 1.69 oz. from goop): Aptly named, one immediately wants to be completely enveloped by this wondrous melting balm. While this balm evokes the color of the Adriatic Sea, this glistening gem melts into an irresistible oil serum upon being greeted by the warmth of the skin. This delectable anti-inflammatory multipurpose balm deeply nourished and hydrates the skin, eradicates redness and skin irritations and makes skin soft, supple, balanced, healed and luminous.

I cannot sufficiently underscore the extent to which this is a truly special skincare treat. This magical balm is unlike anything else that I have tried, and not only does it nourish and treat the skin, but it also creates the most heavenly sensory experience. I begin by slowly and deeply inhaling its aroma directly from the jar, and then I remove a tiny amount from the jar and warm it between my fingers before massaging it into my freshly cleansed and damp face, neck and décolleté. The botanical aroma is a warm and earthy amalgam of its ingredients from which slight traces of Vanilla Planifolia and Lavender emerge. The scent essentially defies a lucid description because it has an otherworldly aroma, and is unlike anything else that I have experienced.

Once this balm, which boasts the efficacy of the finest serums and beauty oils, sinks into the skin one immediately notices that their skin becomes ultra-hydrated, soft, supple and nourished. Furthermore, this ultra-luxe balm immediately calms sensitive skin that is reactive and easily irritated. It soothes and treats inflammation of all sorts, and is a wonderful choice for rosacea, eczema and acne-prone skin. The Blue Cocoon Beauty Balm Concentrate is also a great post-treatment, post-peel and post exfoliation product choice since its potent anti-inflammatory ingredients boast an efficacy that is seldom found in a single product.

This potent, antioxidant-rich balm is also the perfect choice if you seek ultra-effective anti-aging skincare products that are healthy and effective. It should also be mentioned that this multipurpose healing and nourishing balm can be used to spot treat irritated skin, and that it works extraordinarily well as an eye cream and lip balm.  Additionally, if you have dry skin, or dry patches you will be astonished by the speed with which these conditions will be reversed. The Blue Cocoon Beauty Balm Concentrate activates the senses, elevates the mood and transforms the skin. It is, indeed, a magical unicorn that is filled with healthy, potent actives that together perform miracles for the skin and the spirit. Purchase Again? It's on my list!
Spongellé Botanics Candle in Rose ($38.00 for 8 oz. from Spongellé): I love aromatic rose fragrances, and this one is particularly special. The Turkish Rose comes through in all of its glory, but the bottom notes add a creamy woodsy aroma and the top citrus note adds a touch of zing. It is one of my all-time favorite permutations of the perfected rose. Features: 100% Soy Wax | Hand-poured in the US | Special flickering wooden wick | Burns up to 50 hours | Purchase Again? I still have three of their candles left to use first, but this is definitely worth buying! Plus the rose aroma is utter perfection!

Overall Assessment: I should be finishing up a few more skincare products next month since I have nearly finished up a few more things this month, but we will see! What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in March? Do you have any duds or winners to report?

Empties from February 2022

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

As you can see, I had an unusually slow February in the month of empties! It isn't because February is a short month, but instead it is the direct result of testing
Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream (preliminary post HERE) the way that professor Bader suggests, and that means using this product alone. Therefore, I only used a face cleanser, sunscreen and The Rich Cream for more than 30 days in order to properly test and evaluate this luxurious cream. Next month, I am sure that you will see a few skincare empties since I will have concluded my testing, and I will have posted my review.

This month I only used bath and body washes and hand soaps, and that's it! Here is what I used:

REN Moroccan Rose Otto Body WashThis is a soothing and delicately fragrances body wash that not only smells utterly delicious, but it also hydrates, soothes and thoroughly cleanses the skin. It is perfect in the shower or bath, and it is emollient enough to use for shaving your legs! Purchase Again? Unquestionably, this is one of my all-time favorite body washes! ($36.00 for 6.8 oz from RENSephora and Bloomingdale's)

Spongellé with Love | Freesia Pear Heart BufferSpongellé Body Buffers are brilliant body wash-infused sponges effectively and gently clean and exfoliate the skin, and they also leave the it deliciously baby soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. They really excel in their ability to clean and exfoliate the skin while delighting the senses with their delightful aromas.

You simply dampen the Spongellé Body Wash Infused Buffers with water to activate the very satisfying lather. Once you have used up all of the body wash, the sponge itself is left quite intact, and therefore all you need to do is use it in conjunction with your favorite liquid or bar soaps. The hanging ribbon allows the buffer to dry out easily, but I recommend hanging it outside of the moist environment of the shower to avoid bacterial growth. Purchase Again? I have another couple of scents that I am about to open ($14.00 from Spongellé)

Potager Soap Co. Lemonngrass Soap: Lemongrass is one of my favorite aromas, and Potager Soap Co. has created one of the finest permutations of that scent. This uplifting aroma is an unmitigated delight to the senses. The creamy lather is very satisfying to the touch, it thoroughly cleans the skin, and never leaves it dry or stripped. Their soaps are made in small batches in Concord, Massachusetts, and they are cruelty-free, vegan and certified organic. Furthermore, this is a woman-owned company that is invested in sustainable practices. Purchase Again? I have about 5 more of their beautiful soaps to use before buying more! ($7.98 for 4.5 oz. from Potager Soap Co.)

Baylis & Harding Lemongrass & Ginger Natural Hand Soap: is a delicious blend of Lemongrass that is tempered by the spiciness of ginger, and it has a beautiful complexity to it. It is an affordable and sustainable luxury hand soap that is a joy to use and it smells utterly delectable. Overall Assessment: It was definitely a slim month in the land of empties since I was only testing Augustus Bader The Rich Cream, but I imagine that I will have a few more next month. At least I really loved everything that I used this month! What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in February?

November 2021 Empties Galore!

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

November turned out to be a good month in the land of empties, as it turns out! I somehow didn't think that I would finish up this month, but I did before some of my older products were about to turn! Here is what I finished this month:

Arcona Wine Oil ($58.00 for 1 oz. from UltaDermstoreSkinStore and Nordstrom): is an antioxidant-rich, powerhouse of an anti-aging beauty oil, if ever there was one. This beautiful resveratrol-based formula harnesses the power and potency extracted from grapes, and delivers its anti-aging benefits deep into the skin for long-lasting and intensive hydration. It boasts a lightweight and fast absorbing consistency that immediately hydrates, moisturizes and nourishes the skin. This light golden elixir has an ultra-luxe velvety texture that leaves skin soft, smooth, supple and decidedly luminous. Furthermore, its anti-inflammatory properties calm irritated skin, while its anti-aging properties plump fine lines and improve the overall texture of the skin. The utterly delectable warm aroma, which is punctuated by cloves, is luscious and intoxicatingly delicious. The aroma alone reminds me of Autumn, and it is one of my most reached for beauty oils this time of year. If you are seeking a special beauty oil to add into your routine, then I highly recommend this wonderfully conceived and executed facial oil. Purchase Again? Maybe at some point, but I have a lot of face oils to use before I can justify buying another!

Goldfaden MD Doctor's Scrub ($38.00 for 1.7 oz. and $75.00 for 3.5 oz. from   Bloomingdale'sSkincare RXSpace NKSkinstoreCredo BeautyCult Beauty): is a very effective exfoliant formulated for all skin including: normal, combination, blemish-prone, dry, mature and sensitive types. The base is densely populated with tiny exfoliating particles that aren't jagged, and therefore they aren't harmful to the skin. However, it should be noted that there is considerable grit to its consistency, and therefore one should use a very light hand, rather than brute force when exfoliating with this scrub (or any scrub for that matter). That it does an exquisite job exfoliating dead skin cells is evident after a single use, and it leaves skin soft, smooth, supple and radiant. Furthermore, unlike many facial scrubs, this one is formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, which helps retain moisture and that helps to plump fine lines. It has no added fragrance, and only the most faint aroma can be detected from the ingredients themselves, but it is unlikely to register for even the most sensitive noses. It should be noted that it is highly concentrated, and therefore the 3.5 oz. jar should last a long time. Purchase Again? As soon as I use up my current face scrubs!

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Liquid Peel ($25.00 for 3.38 oz. from The Body Shop): The Body Shop Drops of Youth Liquid Peel is definitely worthy of your attention! While housed in a beautiful bright green pump bottle, the gel is itself clear rather than tinted in any way. You simply dispense about 2 pumps of this gentle exfoliating gel and massage it into the skin, avoiding the eye area, until the gel begins to pill up as it dislodges and removes dead skin cells. You only need to massage it into your face for a mere 20 seconds, and then rinse your face thoroughly.

Once you pat your skin dry, you will immediately note that it is silky smooth, soft as soft can be, and that all dry patches and dead skin cells give way to the most luminous and vibrant skin. I neither experienced tingling, nor burning in the least bit, but you should patch test it before applying it to your entire face to test for sensitivities. I am very impressed by the results! Purchase Again? DEFINITELY!

Kerstin Florian Correcting Multi-Vitamin Day Creme SPF 30 ($64.00 for 2 oz. from  Kerstin Florian and SkinStore): One of my very favorite sunscreens, with its ultra-luxe and divine texture, and its nourishing skincare ingredients is unquestionably Kerstin Florian Multi-Vitamin Day Creme SPF 30. This day cream is richly emollient, seriously moisturizing, and fast absorbing. It applies evenly, it melts into the skin immediately, and it neither leaves behind a greasy film, nor does it leave an undesirable white cast. Furthermore, the antioxidant-rich formula protects the skin while its active botanicals, and other nourishing ingredients, leave skin soft, smooth, supple and luminous. It is the height of luxury given its glorious velvety texture, its impressive efficacy and its enviable ability to play well with makeup. In fact, I have found that it serves as a wonderfully effective primer for all of the foundations that I have paired it with. It has a delectable light and clean aroma, but it fades soon upon application. Purchase Again? YES! This is one of the very best sunscreens that I have ever used!

Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen SPF 35 ($65.00 for 2 oz.from TATCHA and Sephora): This sunscreen boasts a lightweight and nourishing formula that doubles as a primer to extend the wear of your makeup while protecting your skin. It is a thick cream housed in a beautiful blue squeeze tube. A light squeeze dispenses the perfect amount of sunscreen without any waste. The sunscreen itself defies expectations in that its thick texture suggests that it might require a great deal of effort to work into the skin, and that there will invariably be a white residue that will prove to be incompatible with makeup. Yet, TATCHA was able to create the most luxurious silky-smooth sunscreen that melts into the skin as soon as it meets the warmth of the body, and it transforms from an opaque cream into one that is completely invisible. Additionally, there is no greasy residue left to contend with– that so often alters the consistency of your makeup. It neither feels, nor smells like a sunscreen, but instead behaves more like an ultra-luxe nourishing hydrating cream. Purchase Again? Unquestionably, this is a really amazing sunscreen!
Cetaphil Gentle Makeup Remover ($7.66-$10.99 for 6 fl oz. from TargetBed, Bath & BeyondAmazonWalmart and other mass retailers): This is a wonderful ultra-gentle oil-free bi-phase liquid eye makeup remover that even removes waterproof formulas! Cetaphil Gentle Makeup Remover, which uses silicone instead of oil as its main ingredient, allows you to remove every trace of makeup without a leaving behind a greasy residue. Formulated with Aloe Vera, Ginseng, and Green Tea, this makeup remover is soothing and gentle enough for sensitive eyes like mine. Purchase Again? YES!!!

Kneipp Body Wash Enjoy Life May Chang & Lemon ($14.00 for 6.76 oz. from Kneipp): Kneipp makes among my very favorite body washes because they are soap-free, non-stripping and they are infused with essential oils. They leave skin gently, and yet thoroughly, cleansed and have the added benefit of leaving skin hydrated without a greasy residue. The lemon aroma is uplifting and invigorating– not to mention scrumptious. Purchase Again? Oh, most definitely!

Kneipp Body Wash Relaxing Lavender (14.00 for 6.7 oz. from Kneipp): With natural lavender oil, the soap-free and pH balanced formula cleanses gently and leaves skin soft, supple and hydrated. The lavender scent calms the mind, and it fills the shower with its lovely aroma. Purchase Again? Absolutely!

Baylis & Harding Natural Hand Wash Lemongrass & Ginger ($5.99 each for 16.9 oz. from Target): is a delicious blend of Lemongrass that is tempered by the spiciness of ginger, and it has a beautiful complexity to it. This is an affordable and sustainable luxury wash that is a joy to use and it smells utterly delectable. Furthermore, it leaves your hands soft and moisturized, rather than dry and stripped. Purchase Again? I already have more!

Potager Soap Co. Sugared Balsam Soap ($7.98 for 4.5 oz. from Potager Soap Co.): This luscious richly moisturizing soap, with a satisfying lather, has a warm and creamy aroma that is underscored by the Balsam and peppermint, and it is at once soothing and uplifting. Purchase Again? I have several more of their beautiful soaps that I can't wait to use!

Goldfaden MD Hands to Heart Anti-Aging Brightening Hand Treatment ($38.00 for 3 oz. from Bloomingdale's, Space NK, Credo Beauty, Dermstore, Amazon, SkinStore and Skincare RX): This hand treatment works very well in its ability to hydrate and heal dry, rough and cracked hands, and it leaves them very soft, velvety smooth, supple and moisturized. The texture is lightweight, and yet very emollient, and it immediately sinks into the skin without leaving behind a greasy residue. Furthermore, it is formulated as an anti-aging hand cream that is supposed to fade dark spots, but I do not have dark spots on my hands to test these claims. However, I will say that my hands appear luminous and brightened. I should note that it has a light citrus aroma, that is incredibly pleasant, but it does fade rather quickly. Purchase Again? Absolutely, this is one of the very best hand creams that I have ever used.

Molton Brown Rhubarb & Rose Replenishing Hand Cream ($15.00 for 1.4 oz. from Molton BrownSaks Fifth Avenue and SkinStore): This is a truly obsession-worthy hand cream, and it is so good that I have gone through many tubes of it over the years. I remain obsessed with, and loyal to, this hand cream because it is fast absorbing, unbelievably nourishing and hydrating, and it smells heavenly. It leaves my hands unbelievably soft and supple, and the delectable scent lingers, but it is never cloying. It is a beautifully articulated fruity floral that offers the perfect balance between the zesty citrus, Rhubarb and the Rose extract. This hand cream is unmitigated perfection in my view. Purchase Again? Eventually!

African Botanics Marula Stretchmark Botanical Body Oil ($100.00 for 3.58 fl. oz. from African BotanicsViolet Grey): While the perfect choice to treat and prevent stretchmarks or scars– it is likewise the ultimate collagen-boosting, antioxidant, vitamin, mineral and essential fatty-acid-rich moisturizer that leaves skin deeply nourished, hydrated, soft, supple, firm and lifted. It effectively prevents, and treats stretchmarks and scars, but generally firms, lifts and improves the texture of the skin.

Among the key ingredients that account for its efficacy is the potent blend of cold-pressed oils, regenerating Grapefruit and Neroli that tone and regenerate, fast-absorbing vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that nourish, firm and reduce the appearance of scars and stretchmarks. Furthermore, the highest quality Marula, Baobab and Avocado oils strengthen and nourish the skin while Rosa Mosqueta Oil reduces that appearance of stretch marks, and aids in their prevention in the first place.
This healing body oil is the perfect anti-aging choice for premature skin damage from overexposure to the sun, and it is a perfect choice to treat post-surgical scars. Furthermore, if you experience crepey skin or body acne, this delectable oil will improve the texture of the skin with remarkable efficacy. Purchase Again? I have more of their body oils to use!

REN Moroccan Rose Otto Bath Oil ($48.00 for 4.08 oz. from RENSephora and Net-A-Porter): This beautifully fragranced bath oil hydrates and nourishes the skin while enveloping and enrapturing the senses. It leaves the skin soft, supple, luminous and exceedingly hydrated. This is one of the very best bath oils that I have ever used, and it offers the perfect way to unwind after a stressful day. Purchase Again? There is definitely another bottle in my future!
Mario Badescu Lecithin Nourishing Shampoo ($8.00 for 8 oz. from Amazon and Mario Badescu): This is a shampoo that is perfect for people with dry and frizz-prone hair, therefore it is a great fit for my dry and curly hair. It has a satisfying lather, but it is non-stripping and non-drying, and it leaves hair soft and moist without an undesired oily residue. It has a very light and pleasant aroma, but it does not linger. Purchase Again? I have far too many bottles of shampoo to use before I buy any more, but I love this stuff.
Purchase Again? Yes, this candle is utterly magnificent!

Fragrance NotesTop: Citrus. Middle: Turkish Rose, Jasmine, Armoise. Bottom: Patchouli, Guaiac Wood.

Overall Assessment: I doubt that I will manage to use up quite so many almost-empties in December, but we will see! What did you use up, give away, toss out or return in November? Any real winners or duds to report?
