January 2026 Empties for the Face, Body & Hair

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

I somehow thought that I was going to finish more products in January, but instead I only managed to use up 4 full-size products. I loved all of them, and would happily use them again! Here is what I finished up in January 2026:

BIODERMA Hydrabio H20 Moisturizing Make-Up Removing Micelle Solution ($5.99- $20.99 for 3.38 oz. to 16.9 oz from UltaTargetAmazon and Dermstore): This is a very gentle micellar water that is specifically formulated for dehydrated, sensitive skin.  Bioderma suggests that it is, "a cleansing and make-up removing water that respects the fragility of sensitive skin and stimulates moisture." It effortlessly sweeps away makeup, pollutants and dirt without stripping the skin or depleting its moisture levels. It leaves skin feeling fresh, clean and hydrated. I don't often use it in lieu of a cleanser, but on the occasions when I am too tired to do my full nighttime skincare routine, it does a great job thoroughly cleansing my skin. Purchase Again? Oh yes, definitely!

Dove Beauty Bar Original ($5.39-$14.99 for 2-8 bar packs from AmazonTargetWalgreens): This gentle, creamy cleansing bar contains ¼ moisturizing cream that leaves skin soft smooth and very clean. I have used it for many years, and absolutely love it! Purchase Again? Unquestionably!

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Ultimate Reset Shampoo ($56.00 for 300ml / 10 oz from SephoraShu Uemura Art of Hair and Amazon): Ultimate Reset Shampoo is a restoration shampoo that is specifically formulated for ultra-damaged hair. It gently cleanses, without stripping the hair or scalp, and without weighing down the hair or leaving it greasy. It rinses clean and leaves hair feeling nourished and hydrated. The shampoo has a pleasant fragrance, but it doesn't linger for very long, and I do not smell it in my hair once it has dried. Purchase Again? Happily, but I will wait for a sale since this is an expensive shampoo!

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Ultimate Reset Conditioner ($64.00 for 250 ml / 8 oz. from SephoraShu Uemura Art of HairAmazon): This conditioner is superb for very dry and damaged hair because it is intensely moisturizing and yet it rinses clean and free of any residue. The consistency is mid-weight and emollient, and yet remarkably lightweight feeling in the hair. It deeply nourishes and hydrates hair, fights frizz and efficiently and effectively detangles it. It also has a pleasant fragrance, but it is neither imposing, nor long-lasting. Purchase Again? Yes, but only when it is on sale!
Overall Assessment: I loved all of these products, and will definitely use them all in the future. The shampoo and conditioner are favorites, but I will have to wait for a good sale before replacing them! What did you use up, toss out, return or give away in January? Any great finds or great disappointments to report?

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Ultimate Reset Shampoo, Conditioner & Mask: A Worthy Splurge for Hair in Need of TLC

Purchased (Affiliate Links)

If you have dry, very dry, chemically treated or damaged hair, or know someone who does, then read on. If not, the Shu Uemura The Art of Hair Ultimate Reset Collection products aren't likely going to offer many benefits to your hair, but if you have any of these hair issues to contend with, then this is a range that should be on your radar. It is undoubtedly very expensive, as is the case with ultra-luxurious brands, but it has made quite a difference in the appearance of my dry, naturally curly color-treated hair.

I have used these three products for about 8 years, and while I do not use them every single day, I reach for them whenever my hair needs extra TLC. It therefore takes me quite a long time to use up these three products, and I always try to purchase them when they are on sale, I have a gift card, or I have points I can cash in.

Rice Extract is the key ingredient used in the Shu Uemura Art of Hair Ultimate Reset Collection, and according to Shu Uemura Art of Hair,

For centuries, Japanese women have looked to rice for its immense beautifying powers. Referred to as “nuka biji”, or “beautiful by the rice” Japanese women cherish rice’s ability to hydrate and protect the hair. Enriched with minerals, antioxidants, and B and E vitamins, rice is renowned for its protecting and moisture retaining properties. Harvested in Hyogo, Japan, our rice of the highest polished quality, raised by an eco-friendly duck-cultivation system which maintains purity and ensures maximum natural benefits.

August 2025 Empties for the Face, Body & Hair

Press Sample & Purchased (Affiliate Links)

I managed to finish up 11 products during the month of August, and only one was a travel size. I really liked these products and I would definitely use all of them again. That said, I am swimming in products for the hair face and body, and I don't need to replace any of them just yet. I did, however, have replacements of several of these products, and have already started using them.
Vichy Mineral 89 ($29.99 for 1.69 oz. from UltaAmazonDermstore and Walgreens): is described as a "new generation face moisturizer." It features 89% of Vichy's iconic Mineralizing Thermal Water that is further enhanced by Hyaluronic Acid to deeply boost hydration and fortify the skin. The consistency is that of a lightweight gel-like serum that sinks into the skin immediately leaving it hydrated with a luminous, ethereal glow. Dehydrated and dull skin gives way to comfortable, refreshed and moisturized skin without any greasy residue or stickiness. Furthermore, this fragrance-free moisturizer plumps fine lines, nourishes the skin and leaves skin soft, smooth and supple. It offers my normal/combination skin enough moisture and hydration during the warmer months that I can forgo a regular moisturizer altogether, and it pairs beautifully with my favorite serums and face oils, but during the rest of the year I layer it with richer moisturizers. Purchase Again? I already opened a new bottle, it's that good!

Bioderma suggests that it is, "a cleansing and make-up removing water that respects the fragility of sensitive skin and stimulates moisture. " It effortlessly sweeps away makeup, pollutants and dirt without stripping the skin or depleting its moisture levels. It leaves skin feeling fresh, clean and hydrated. I don't often use it in lieu of a cleanser, but on the occasions when I am too tired to do my full nighttime skincare routine, it does a great job thoroughly cleansing my skin. Purchase Again? I just opened another bottle of another Bioderma micellar water!

Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water ($11.99 for 5.1 oz. from UltaAmazonDermstore and Target): The is a truly wonderful mineral water spray that I have used for at least 5 years now. It is so refreshing and hydrating, and it is utter perfection all year long, but it is especially refreshing during the warm weather.

This water is sourced directly from French volcanoes, and its only ingredient is water. This soothing and refreshing spray feels amazing against the skin, and I often spritz it on right after I apply my favorite beauty oil to help speed up absorption, and because it allows me to use less oil. This can be used any time of the day, but I do like to spritz my face before going to bed for a little extra hydration. However, in the warm and hot weather, I keep this in the refrigerator and use it whenever I need to cool down and feel refreshed, and since the weather has been very hot in LA, I have been reaching for this wth great frequency! Furthermore, it can be used to moisten makeup sponges, used to help set makeup. Purchase Again? Without question!

The A Method Reti-Xo Retinol Exosome Serum ($349.00 for 1.52 oz from Amazon): This highly effective gel-based retinol serum is worthy of note. The lightweight gel serum, which is cruelty-free, gluten-free, fragrance-free and vegan, is effective, easy to use and it doesn't dry out my skin or leave it flaky. It stimulates cell turn-over and collagen production and skin fresh and glowing.

It is extraordinarily important to use a high SPF sunscreen when using retinol-based products because they can cause photosensitivity, and in the absence of a high SPF sunscreen the use of a retinol-based product can lead to hyperpigmentation and/or hypopigmentation. It is also very important to consult with your doctor and/or dermatologist before adding a retinol-based product into your skincare routine. You may have suspicious moles, spots or lesions that could be cancerous or pre-cancerous, and they need to be treated medically before adding cosmetic treatments that could exfoliate those skin conditions. Your doctor may say that retinol-based products simply aren't a good core for your skin. Additionally, some medications that you may be taking may create photosensitivity, and your doctor should evaluate the products that you are thinking of adding to your skincare routine before you decide to try them. Purchase Again? I just opened another bottle!
Shu Uemura Art of Hair Color Lustre Sulfate-Free Brilliant Glaze Shampoo ($56.00 for 10 oz. from SHU UEMURA Art of Hair, SephoraAmazon): This sulfate-free formula provides delicate cleansing of color-treated hair, while giving it a polished touch. Color Lustre Sulfate-Free Brilliant Glaze Shampoo is remarkably gentle and moisturizing, and it is perfect for my curly hair. So perfect, in fact, that it is my shampoo of choice even when my hair isn't colored. It effectively and gently cleans my hair without doesn't stripping it, and that is a rare combination. Purchase Again? I have too many shampoos to purchase more, but I would definitely use this again!

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Color Lustre Brilliant Glaze Conditioner ($64.00 for 8 oz. from SHU UEMURA Art of Hair, SephoraAmazon):This is a nourishing conditioner that adds vibrancy to hair color for a polished touch from roots to ends. Lightweight conditioners seldom deliver tremendous moisture and shine without weighing down hair, but this magical conditioner is like a high quality moisturizing serum. My hair is left soft, shiny and moisturized. It is an absolutely amazing conditioner. Purchase Again? That is a definite yes, but not in the near future because I am swimming in hair conditioners!

JR Liggett’s Tea Tree & Hemp Oil Shampoo Bar ($8.49 for 3.5 oz. from JR Liggett's, Amazon, iHerb): This is a bar shampoo that effectively treats dry and flakey scalp and it's formulated to calm dermatitis. While I do not have dermatitis, I recently found that a drugstore hair dye formula had changed and left my scalp very irritated, itchy and dry. This shampoo has definitely helped return my scalp back to its pre-hair dye equilibrium. It boasts a satisfying lather and it rinses clean without leaving behind an unwanted oily residue. Purchase Again? I have so many shampoos to use before I consider buying any more, but I liked this one a lot.

JR Liggett’s Herbal Formula Shampoo Bar ($8.49 for 3.5 oz. from  JR Liggett'sAmazoniHerb and Walmart): This bar isn't just great for washing hair, but it is also an effective and moisturizing soap for the body. It boasts a rich and creamy lather– which is quite satisfying– and it has a wonderful light herbal aroma. It effectively cleans without stripping and drying out the hair and skin, and it rinses thoroughly without leaving behind an oily residue. I actually ended up using this as an ode bar even more than for my hair! Purchase Again? As I said above, I have far too many shampoos to use before I buy any others, but I liked this one.

Mrs. Meyer's Lemon Verbena Hand Soap ($4.89 for 12.5 oz. and a 3-pack for $13.47 from AmazonWalmart and Target): This is a truly exceptional Lemon Verbena scented hand soap, and it is cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny Certified. After using it daily for over a year, I can say, without hesitation, that this is my all-time favorite hand soap. It moisturizes the skin, and leaves hands very soft and clean without any sort of residue. It has a satisfying lather, a delectable fresh citrus aroma, and it makes washing hands a joy rather than a drab experience. Purchase Again? Without question!

Baylis & Harding Goodness Natural Body Wash in Oud, Cedar & Amber ($8.99 each for 16.9 oz. from Amazon and Target): is a wonder to the senses and the skin. Best described as aromatic and uplifting, this wondrous scent is creamy and warm and perfectly suited for the cold weather. It is neither overpowered by the patchouli, nor overdone by the citrus. Instead, it is has the perfect amount of spice to make it one fetching scent that perfectly embodies the season. Baylis & Harding make luxurious products that are inherently affordable, and thoroughly enjoyable. This is a must-have for me this season. Purchase Again? Most definitely, this is utterly divine!

JR Liggett’s Shaving Foam ($9.99 for 1 oz. travel size and $14.99 for 7 oz. from JR Liggett's and Amazon): What a wonderful shaving foam it is! It is gentle on the skin, beautifully emollient and moisturizing and it washes clean without leaving behind any sort of oily residue. It has a light and clean aroma, but it is barely noticeable and therefore should not bother people who prefer no aromas in their body care products. I used up this travel size pretty quickly because I reached for it all of the time! Purchase Again? I would use it again, but I will not need a shaving cream or foam for quite a while.

Overall Assessment: It was very satisfying tossing all of these empty containers into my recycle bin, and I would happily use all of these products again! What did you use up, toss out, return or give away in August? Any real winners or losers to report?

May 2025 Empties for the Face, Hair & Body

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliated Links)

I managed to use of 15 products in the month of May. All but two items were full size, and I was pretty surprised to have finished that many things for the face, hair and body in May. I really loved everything that I finished up, and would happily use all of these products again.

Dove White Beauty Bar ($4.89-$11.99 for 2-14 bar packs from TargetWalgreens): This gentle, creamy cleansing bar contains ¼ moisturizing cream that leaves skin soft smooth and very clean. I have used it for many years, and absolutely love it! Purchase Again? I already have!

Mrs. Meyer's Lemon Verbena Hand Soap ($4.99 for 12.5 oz. and a 3-pack for $13.94 from AmazonWalmart and Target): This is a glorious lemon verbena scented hand soap that is cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny Certified. It moisturizes the skin, and leaves the hands very soft and clean without any sort of residue. It has a satisfying lather, a delectable fresh citrus aroma, and it makes washing hands a joy rather than a drab experience. Purchase Again? Yes, I absolutely love this hand soap, and I just opened a new bottle!

MyKirei Onsen Therapy Soothing Mineral Soak ($15.00 for a 5 pack from MyKirei by Kai and Amazon): This is a very soothing mineral soak that is perfect after a vigorous workout, or a long day at work. It relieves muscle aches and pains and it relieves stress. The Japanese Hinoki fragrance boasts a calming woodsy aroma that is a delight to the senses, while the mineral-rich tablet relieves the tension in sore muscles. A soak before going to bed helps one achieve a calm and deep sleep. Purchase Again? YES, I plan to place an order soon.

TOA Waters Lockwood Forest Bubble Bath ($35.99 for 16 oz. from TOA Waters Amazon Store): This is a truly luxurious bubble bath with an irresistible aroma. Described as Earthy & Natural, it is infused with Oakmoss, Amber, Vanilla, Sage, and Lavender, and this combination is utterly delectable. It is relaxing, inspiring and altogether transformative. The creamy, rich lather moisturizes, rather than strips, the skin and it creates a space in which one can luxuriate and unwind effortlessly. Everything about this bubble bath is unmitigated perfection, and it melts away the stress of the day, and offers a relaxing before-bed treat that helps usher in a restful night of sleep. I am delighted by the magnificence of this bubble bath, and I love the earthy scent, as opposed to the more predicable floral bubble baths with which I am the most familiar. Purchase Again? I have a pile of bubble baths and bath salts to use first, but I would definitely get this again!

Spongellé Hand Creams ($20.00 each for 2 oz. from Spongellé): These hand creams are the perfect antidote to dry hands any time of the year. I have used their hand creams for several years now, and I reach for them constantlySpongellé Hand Creams are available in 8 delightfully fragrant scents, and they offer serious hydration. They feature ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, Shea Butter, Argan Oil and Macademia Seed Oil that deeply moisturize and heal chapped hands, and the Hyaluronic Acid retains moisture and plumps fine lines. After using these hand creams, my poor chapped hands have been soft, smooth, nourished, hydrated and luminous! I wish that I could choose a favorite scent, but I really love the distinctly different fragrance profiles for all eight of these beautiful hand creams. Beach GrassTop: Spicy, Fruity, Green. Middle: Jasmine, Rose, Powdery. Base: Aquatic, Woody, Musk. Purchase Again? I am already using another scent from this collection!

CAP'N COCONUT Coconut Body Balm ($14.00 for 4 oz. from Cap'N Coconut and the Cap'N Coconut Etsy Store): Cap'N Coconut Coconut Body Balm is a spectacularly high quality body balm that melts into the skin upon contact. It is very concentrated, therefore I recommend a less-is-more approach. It has a warm and creamy vanilla aroma that is pleasant, calming and soothing to the senses. Not only can it be used to moisturize and sooth the skin, but it can also be used in the hair, on the scalp and for massage. It is also great for chapped dry hands and cuticles! Tip: as a body moisturizer, I recommend applying it directly to the skin when you first get out of the shower or bath when skin is a little damp and still warm. It sinks in immediately, and leaves skin soft, smooth, supple and luminous. Purchase Again? I have too many body balms, creams and lotions before I buy another one, but I would definitely use this again!

Vitabrid C¹² Scalp+ Shampoo ($32.00 for 10.4 oz. from Vitabrid, Amazon): This shampoo is formulated to improve scalp and hair health by gently cleansing, while moisturizing and infusing them with antioxidant-rich vitamins. It boasts a rich and satisfying lather, it thoroughly and effectively cleanses without stripping the scalp or hair, and it leaves both moisturized without any sort of residue left behind. I noted an increase in the volume of my hair, and it is decidedly softer and smoother when I use this shampoo. It has a light, clean and fresh aroma, but it is neither long-lasting, nor in the least bit overpowering. It is formulated for all scalp and hair types. Purchase Again? I already opened a new bottle!

shu uemura Art of Hair Urban Moisture Hydro-Nourishing Treatment ($73.00 for 6 oz. from shu uemura Art of Hair, Sephora, Amazon): This creamy, rich, nourishing and ultra-luxe deep conditioning mask is an especially effective treatment for dry and stressed tresses. While SHU UEMURA recommends leaving it on for 5-10 minutes, which is highly effective, I prefer to leave it on for 20-30 minutes for even greater efficacy. Not only does it deeply moisturize my hair, but it also softens it, smooths it, fights frizz and fly-aways, and leaves it remarkable shiny. Furthermore, if you have curly hair, you will be astounded by the extent to which facilitates gorgeous natural curl formation. While fragrance is listed among the ingredients, I wouldn't describe it as a particularly fragranced mask, there is no lingering aroma that I can detect. Purchase Again? I will splurge if it goes on sale! This is one if the very best hair masks I have ever used!

LOVINAH Skincare Dragon's Blood Vitamin C Cleansing Oil ($55.00 for 3.7 oz. from Boxwalla and Macy's):What a revelation in cleansing oils! This extraordinary oil cleanser emulsifies when in contact with water, and it rinses clean, and leaves behind  no greasy residue, whatsoever. The antioxidant-rich formula is filled with nourishing oils such as: Milk Thistle, Guava Seed Oil, Radish Seed, Lingonberry Seed Oil, Cloudberry Oil and Tomato Seed Oil in concert with healing ingredients such as Croton Lechleri Resin Extract (Dragon's Blood), Gromwell and Lycopene. While it does include ingredients such as stable Vitamin C and double encapsulated Salicylic Acid, this cleansing oil is very gentle and does not irritate the skin. It has a heavenly warm and rich aroma, that frankly defies description, and it soothes, hydrates, plumps and cleanses very effectively. Dead skin cells are gently removed and skin is left soft, smooth and supple. Purchase Again? Without question, this is a sensational cleansing oil! My bottle was a deluxe travel size, but I definitely want to get the full size bottle next time.

Bloomeffects Black Tulip Overnight Retinoid Serum ($119.00 for .88 oz. from Boxwalla, Amazon Store, Bluemercury): The Black Tulip, which is the deepest and darkest of Tulips, boasts the highest flavinoid count, and Bloomeffects utilizes a proprietary complex that includes a potent extract from the Black Tulip petals in this extraordinary formula. These Tulips are grown on Kim Van Haaster's family farm, and they "partnered with the University of Leiden in The Netherlands to study & discover the regenerative powers of the Black Tulip."

This stunning purple serum, with its fetching light aroma, effectively improves uneven skin tone, reduces the appearance of discoloration and spots, plumps fine lines, exfoliates dead skin cells and gives skin a healthy glow. It is lightweight, fast absorbing and utterly delectable! There is something inherently mesmerizing about this regal looking serum, and it is not only highly effective, but also quite bewitching. If you try one new serum this year, this is the one! Purchase Again? That is a foregone conclusion. This is the best retinoid product that I have tried in years!

Bloomeffects Tulip Dew Cream ($49.00 for 1.69 oz. from BoxwallaCredo Beautybluemercury and Bloomeffects Amazon Store): This is a very emollient lightweight and fast absorbing gel-cream that instantly moisturizes the skin, and leaves it soft, radiant, dewy and comfortable. It delivers immediate hydration and the pleasant aroma is natural and light. Bloomeffects uses their proprietary Dutch Tulip Complex and a nourishing multivitamin complex– consisting of Vitamins B3, Vitamin B5, C and E– that helps protect skin against environmental damage, and it leaves skin with a dewy glow as the name suggests. This wondrous cream is formulated for normal to dry skin, and it effectively addresses dryness, dullness, uneven skin tone– along with softening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by plumping the skin. Bloomeffects is a cruelty-free brand. Purchase Again? I only finished up my travel size, I still have a full-size jar I am using!

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Night Concentrate (formerly known as the Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate) ($30.00 for travel size from TATCHA, Sephora, Ulta): This is a lightweight, and fast absorbing, nighttime serum that begins its life as a firm bouncy gel that immediately gives way to a liquid once introduced to the warmth of the skin. When you rest your skin regenerates new skin cells, sloughs off dead skin cells, and cycles oxygen and nutrients, and it is during this cycle that this serum works its magic. It profoundly hydrates the skin, visibly plumps fine lines and gives skin a luscious and dewy lit-from-within glow. Each time that I use this magical elixir, I awaken to find my skin soft, supple, ultra-hydrated, balanced, lifted and fine lines are noticeably plumped. I have also used this during the day because it adds essential moisture and a dewy radiance. I have also mixed a tiny amount into my foundation for added moisture and luminosity. The all natural, light aroma is fresh, clean and utterly delectable, but it is subtle– and therefore should not bother people who are sensitive to scents.

I use the gold spoon to scoop out one rounded spoonful and massage it into my face, neck and décolleté in an upward motion, and it immediately melts into the skin, and does not leave behind a greasy residue. The results the following morning, even after a single use, are so pronounced that using it is rather addictive! Purchase Again? I am waiting for it to be back in stock!

Overall Assessment: I loved using every single thing that I finished up in May, and I would happily use each one of them again. What did you finish up, toss out, give away or return in May? Any great discoveries or over-hyped disappointments?

January 2025 Empties for the Face, Body, Hair & Home

Purchased and Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

It is hard to make sense of the fact that January 2025 has already come to a close! I was, rather surprisingly, able to finish up 12 full-size products in January, and I thoroughly enjoyed each one of them. Here are the products that I finished, and my thoughts about each of them:
Mrs. Meyer's Compassion Flower Hand Soap ($4.99 for 12.5 oz. and a 3-pack for $13.94 from AmazonWalmart and Target): This is not your typical floral scented hand soap, but instead the aroma is neither too sweet, nor too fragrant. It has a light and delicate floral aroma that is uplifting and understated. This is a very moisturizing hand soap that neither strips the skin, nor leaves behind an oily residue. Instead, it is utter hand soap perfection. Purchase Again? I already opened another bottle!

Spongellé Daisy Collection Travel Spongettes ($12.00 each from Spongellé): are the perfect travel-sized body wash infused buffer sponges, but they are also perfect in your favorite soap dish at home. While Spongellé claims that each of them offer 7 or more washes, I find that I get about double that amount. Once you use up the body wash, then simply use the sponge with your favorite soaps and body washes. As always, the scents are gorgeous, and the buffers effectively exfoliate dead skin cells and clean the skin. The travel size body buffers offer 7+ uses, and that is why I finished three of them in a month. Purchase Again? I just opened another Spongellé Body Buffer!

Shu Uemura Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil ($19.00-$00.00 for 1.69 oz to 15.22 oz. Shu Uemura USA): This ultra-luxe rich and emollient cleansing oil has a luscious lightweight consistency that leaves skin soft, smooth, supple and luxuriously hydrated. While it can be used by all skin types, I suspect that it will be coveted by people with normal to dry skin. When water is introduced, this cleansing oil also transforms into a rich and creamy milky emulsion that gently removes every trace of dirt and makeup without ever stripping the skin, and it leaves skin velvety soft and smooth without leaving behind a greasy residue. It has a warm and creamy aroma that I find intoxicatingly delicious. Purchase Again? I have many other cleansing oils that I need to use, but this is a classic that I would happily use again and again and again!

LilyAna Naturals Retinol Cream ($29.99 from LilyAna NaturalsWalmart): is a gentle, and yet effective Retinol cream that actually hydrates the skin. It is a lightweight, fast-absorbing and while it promotes skin cell turnover. Ingredients such as Botanical Hyaluronic Acid, Shea Butter, Aloe Vera Juice, Jojoba Oil and Sunflower Seed Oil ensure that skin is left hydrated and moisturized, rather than dry and peeling. While LilyAna Naturals posits that this cream can be used morning and night, I only use it at night and I always use a high SPF sunscreen during the day since skin is more vulnerable when using actives that encourage skin cell turnover. This cruelty-free brand is affordable, ethical and their products are very effective. Purchase Again? I have numerous other retinol-based products to use first, but I liked this enough to use it again!

TATCHA Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder ($68.00 for 2.1 oz. from TATCHA, Sephora, Ulta and Amazon): This is a very effective, yet a remarkably gentle, exfoliating cleanser. I really enjoy the metamorphosis from powder to paste, and the routine itself is immensely pleasurable. There is just enough grit to the texture of this refined and silky paste to loosen and remove all debris and dirt. I chose the Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder because I have combination skin, and it definitely is a very good fit for my skin type. Despite the fact that this cleanser exfoliates the skin from the fine gritty bits, it also depends on the enzymes to dissolve dead skin cells as well. It is a very effective exfoliant, but truly is gentle enough to be used on a daily basis. I cannot believe just how soft and smooth that this leaves my skin. I also found that leaving the paste on your face for a few minutes, as you would with a mask, renders even better results. I have found that doing so results in clean fresh skin that one experiences after getting a facial. This is such a magical powder! Purchase Again? Oh, definitely!

dearcloud new/youth collagen cream with niacinimide + algae ($20.00 for 3.38 oz. from Ulta): is a lightweight, and yet very emollient, cream that melts into the skin and leaves behind no greasy residue. The charming cloud-shaped container puts a smile on my face each time I reach for this cream. The brightening formula leaves skin luminous, and the antioxidant-rich formula protects skin from free-radical damage. Furthermore, it leaves skin soft, smooth, hydrated and supple. I do not detect a scent, though the ingredients do list fragrance. Purchase Again? I really love this cream, and will buy it again in the future, but I have a lot of open jars of cream to use first.

shu uemura Art of Hair Cleansing Oil Shampoo: It appears that shu uemura discontinued this wonderful cleansing oil shampoo! It is one of my favorite shampoos, and I am grateful that I have a bottle left. It thoroughly cleans and leaves my hair and scalp feel so good! Purchase Again? I would if they still made it!

René Furterer KARITÉ HYDRA Hydrating Shine Mask ($36.00-$56.00 for 3.4 oz.- 6.9 oz. from René FurtererDermstore and Amazon): If ever there was a hair mask that nourished, moisturized and left hair soft, manageable, shiny and frizz-free, it is this one. It offers dry hair much-needed moisture without ever weighing it down, and it rinses clean. It has the most delectable light, nutty aroma that is an absolute pleasure to the senses. This conditioning mask is heavenly! Purchase Again? Without question!
LAVANILA The Healthy Fragrance in Vanilla Sugarcane ($48.00 for 1.7 oz. from LAVANILA and Amazon): This is a mouthwateringly delicious fragrance! The warm and creamy vanilla is brightened and spices up by the mandarine and the sugarcane adds a sweetness that is neither overpowering, nor too sweet. This is a really lovely fragrance with some depth, and it is perfect for the spring. I love this fragrance! Purchase Again? I am currently using their Healthy Fragrance in Pure Vanilla!

Archipelago Botanicals Black Forest Candle ($44.00 for 6.7oz. from Nordstrom RackArchipelago and Amazon): This is one of their best-selling candles, and I definitely understand why. This dark and moody woodsy candle has the key notes of Dark Ebony Wood, Douglas Fir, and Black Currant, and those aromas are intermingled with Mulberry and Black Patchouli, and the end result is a dark and warm aroma that has a hint of sweetness that smells like a winter walk in the woods. It is a wonderfully sublime scent that is truly enchanting. I love the way that it makes my house smell when it is lit, and even when it is not. I find the scent so lovely that I often just pick it up and inhale. Fragrance Notes: Dark Ebony Wood, Douglas Fir, and Black Currant are paired with the sweet hints of Mulberry and Black Patchouli to create a dark and sweet scent you won't soon forget. Purchase Again? I already opened another one! It's truly candle perfection!
Overall Assessment: I can't believe that I finished up this many products this month. I would happily use all of these products again, but in most cases it will be a while before I need to buy more haircare, skincare or body care products. What did you finish up, toss out, return or give away in January? Any amazing product discoveries to share? Any serious duds to report?

November 2024 Empties for the Face, Body and Hair

Purchased and Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

I managed to use up 8 products in the month of November. Among the empties are 4 body products 2 hair products and two face products. 7 were full size and 1 was a deluxe sample. The biggest surprise was getting through two bottles of hand soap, though in all fairness one had mostly been used up in October, and the other had about 2/3 left when the month of November began.

Spongellé Botanica Lavender Body Wash Infused Buffer (Was $18.00 from Spongellé): While this particular Body Wash Infused Buffer was limited edition, and is no longer available, there are many different types from which to choose. These buffers with built-in body wash are infused with extracts of yuzu, edelweiss and vetiver root to cleanse, exfoliate, massage, and hydrate the skin for a spa-like pampering experience at home. Purchase Again? It appears that they no longer have this, but I have other scents to use next!

Mrs. Meyer's Compassion Flower Hand Soap ($4.99 for 12.5 oz. and a 3-pack for $13.94 from AmazonWalmart and Target): is not your typical floral scented hand soap, but instead the aroma is neither too sweet, nor too fragrant. It has a light and delicate floral aroma that is uplifting and understated. This is a very moisturizing hand soap that neither strips the skin, nor leaves behind an oily residue. Instead, it is utter hand soap perfection. Purchase Again? I already opened another bottle!

Mrs. Meyer's Lemon Verbena Hand Soap ($4.99 for 12.5 oz. and a 3-pack for $13.94 from AmazonWalmart and Target): is a glorious lemon verbena scented hand soap that is cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny Certified. It moisturizes the skin, and leaves the hands very soft and clean without any sort of residue. It has a satisfying lather, a delectable fresh citrus aroma, and it makes washing hands a joy rather than a drab experience. Purchase Again? Yes, forever and ever!

Lovinah Goddess Glow Shimmering Body Oil ($30.00 for 1 oz. from Boxwalla and Lovinah Skincare): This is the shimmering body oil by which all shimmering body oils should be judged. It is a brand new product by Lovihan Skincare, and it is magical. As Boxwalla asserts, "it feels like a perfumed river of gold." It offers skin gorgeously fragrant moisture and its golden shimmer is absolutely gorgeous. I would like to bathe in this masterpiece! Purchase Again? I will buy another bottle this coming summer!
Viori Native Essence Unscented Conditioner ($18.00 for 2.8 oz. from SephoraViori and the Viori Amazon Store): This nourishing and emollient conditioner has a light herbal aroma, though there is no added fragrance, and it is both delightful and effective. It detangles hair, fights frizz and leaves hair soft, silky smooth and shiny. It does not weigh hair down or leave behind an oily residue. Purchase Again? I have other bar shampoos and conditioners to use up before I buy any others, but this will be at the top of my list.

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Color Lustre Brilliant Glaze Treatment of Color Treated Hair ($73.00 for oz. from Shu Uemura Art of Hair, Sephora and Amazon): This nourishing treatment mask is very hydrating and nourishing, and it makes hair shiny and manageable. It preserves hair color longer and it can be used weekly for fine hair.

While one only needs to leave this treatment masque on for 2-3 minutes, I prefer to leave it on a bit longer. It deeply nourishes and moisturizes my hair, and leaves it soft, shiny and silky smooth! It's absolutely amazing, and I will promptly buy another jar just as soon as I finish this one. Purchase Again? It is on my wish list!
Go-To Face Hero Facial Oil ($34.00 for 1 oz. from Go-To): Formulated for all types of skin, this face oil is lightweight, fast absorbing and lusciously moisturizing. It has a rich and velvety texture that melts into the skin– leaving it silky smooth, luminous and lightly plumped. Not only does it brighten dull skin, but after sustained use it lightens dark spots. The antioxidant-rich formula helps to protect skin against free-radical damage, and the anti-inflammatory ingredients help to calm and soothe irritable skin. For this reason, I find it particularly effective when my skin is a bit sensitive, or when I use a peel or exfoliant. It has a delectable warm aroma that is informed by the beautiful variety of oils used, but also from the Orange Blossom & Rose Gardenia natural fragrances. Purchase Again? YES!

Curél Intensive Moisture Facial Cream ($22.50 for 1.4 oz. from Amazon): is a richly moisturizing, and yet lightweight and fast-absorbing, fragrance-free cream that is formulated for dry, sensitive skin. While my skin is decidedly normal/combination, this beautiful facial cream offers the perfect amount of moisture without being too rich, or in the least bit greasy. In fact, this cream melts into the skin, has no greasy residue and it leaves my skin soft, smooth and supple. This is a beautifully moisturizing cream that works wonders on my normal/combination skin, and it is very affordable. Purchase Again? Yes!
Overall Assessment: I thoroughly enjoyed using these products in November, and would happily use all of them again! What did you finish up, toss out, give away or return in November? Any great finds or real duds to report?
