October 2025 Empties For the Face, Body, Hair & Home

Purchased and Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

I managed to finish up 8 products during the month of October, and I was surprised that among the products that I used there were two full bars of soap, 2 candles, 2 serums and 2 hair products. I thought that I would use far fewer things this month, but I surprised myself.

The A Method Pearls of Retinol ($124.00 from The A Method and their Amazon Store): This comes in two strengths, a milder 0.5% concentration of All-Trans Retinol and the stronger 1% concentration. This is the 1% concentration. If you are new to Retinol, I recommend the 0.5% concentration, and work your way up to the 1%. The golden micro-encapsulated "pearls"– which are All-Trans Retinol– are suspended in a wonderfully hydrating solution that contains Hyaluronic Acid and nourishing extracts that kept my finicky skin from drying out and visibly peeling. It is a lightweight and fast absorbing serum that immediately leaves skin hydrated. The formula helps skin cell turnover and collagen production without irritating the skin. This formula softens the appearance of fine lines, reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation and brightens the skin.

It is important to use a high SPF sunscreen when using retinol-based products, and it is imperative to have your skin looked at by your family physician or dermatologist to make sure that the spots and irregularities that you want to treat are neither pre-cancerous, nor cancerous lesions. I have my skin fully evaluated during my yearly physicals, and I usually bring my doctor the list of ingredients of products that I am considering before I use them. I am not a medical doctor, and I consult with mine regularly to make sure that I am not doing something potentially dangerous to my skin.

The pearls hold micro-encapsulated All-Trans retinol stable until mixing with the hydrating serum base when pumped through the dispenser. This also creates the perfect micro-dosing scenario that is supported by hydrating ingredients to avoid dryness, redness and irritation. Purchase Again? I would use this again in a heartbeat, but I have two other retinol products to use before I replace them.

Lancôme Advanced Génifique Serum ($65.00-$260.00 for 0.67 oz. to 3.88 oz. from LancômeNordstromSephoraAmazonUlta): This seriously hydrating serum keeps skin quenched and skin dewy. I have been using it in the morning and the evening every single day for months and I just love how hydrated, luminous and noutrished my skin looks and feels. I really love how well this works for my skin. Purchase Again? I already opened another bottle!

Trader Joe's Next to Godliness Oatmeal & Honey Pure Vegetable Soap ($1.99 for two 4 oz. bars from Trader Joe's): This is a fantastic soap that is a pleasure to use, and it is very affordable. This cruelty-free soap is gentle and non-drying on the skin and it forms a luscious creamy lather without stripping the skin. While it is emollient and moisturizing it rinses clean without leaving behind any sort of oily residue. The oatmeal and honey aroma is very light and pleasant, and it is a treat to the senses. It took me two full months to finish both bars of soap (one was in the shower and one was at a high traffic sink), and that makes this two-pack especially economical. Purchase Again? On my next trip to Trader Joe's!
Kérastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste Shampoo ($46.00 for 8.5 oz. from Kérastase Paris, Sephora, Amazon,): This sulphate-free shampoo is formulated to smooth frizzy hair, and it leaves it soft and unbelievably manageable. This is a perfect choice for my curly hair, and what a difference it makes! It is non-drying, tames frizz and leaves my hair soft and moisturized. This is, without question, one of my very favorite shampoos! Purchase Again? A thousand times yes, but I need to use a few of my open shampoos before I buy another one!

NatureLab TOKYO Perfect Repair Conditioner (It seems to have been renamed Perfect Repair. $19.00 for 11.5 oz. from NatureLab Tokyo, Ulta, Amazon): This is a thick and emollient conditioner that leaves my hair soft, manageable, moisturized and shiny. It rinses clean and leaves behind no residue whatsoever. Purchase Again? Not anytime soon because I am swimming in shampoos and conditioners right now, but I would definitely use this again.
LAVANILA The Healthy Candle in Vanilla Grapefruit ($18.00 each for 7 oz. and $32.97 for a 2-pack from LAVANILA and LAVANILA'S Amazon Store): This lovely soy candle has a warm vanilla aroma, that is punctuated by grapefruit, and the warm and spicy cedarwood adds a wonderful woodsy undercurrent. This is a wonderful scent that is perfect for every month of the year. Purchase Again? YES!

LAVANILA The Healthy Candle in Vanilla Sugarcane($18.00 for 7 oz. and $32.97 for a 2-pack from LAVANILA and LAVANILA'S Amazon Store): This gorgeous and healthy candle, made from 100% natural soybean wax, has a warm scent that is intoxicatingly beautiful. This would be the perfect hostess gift this holiday season! Purchase Again? Absolutely!
Overall Assessment: I am always immensely gratified when I finish products before they go bad, and I am rather surprised that I finished as much as I did in October. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in October? Any really winners or duds to report?

August 2025 Empties for the Face, Body & Hair

Press Sample & Purchased (Affiliate Links)

I managed to finish up 11 products during the month of August, and only one was a travel size. I really liked these products and I would definitely use all of them again. That said, I am swimming in products for the hair face and body, and I don't need to replace any of them just yet. I did, however, have replacements of several of these products, and have already started using them.
Vichy Mineral 89 ($29.99 for 1.69 oz. from UltaAmazonDermstore and Walgreens): is described as a "new generation face moisturizer." It features 89% of Vichy's iconic Mineralizing Thermal Water that is further enhanced by Hyaluronic Acid to deeply boost hydration and fortify the skin. The consistency is that of a lightweight gel-like serum that sinks into the skin immediately leaving it hydrated with a luminous, ethereal glow. Dehydrated and dull skin gives way to comfortable, refreshed and moisturized skin without any greasy residue or stickiness. Furthermore, this fragrance-free moisturizer plumps fine lines, nourishes the skin and leaves skin soft, smooth and supple. It offers my normal/combination skin enough moisture and hydration during the warmer months that I can forgo a regular moisturizer altogether, and it pairs beautifully with my favorite serums and face oils, but during the rest of the year I layer it with richer moisturizers. Purchase Again? I already opened a new bottle, it's that good!

BIODERMA Hydrabio H20 Moisturizing Make-Up Removing Micelle Solution ($5.99- $20.99 for 3.38 oz. to 16.9 oz from UltaTargetAmazon and Dermstore): This is a very gentle micellar water that is specifically formulated for dehydrated, sensitive skin.  Bioderma suggests that it is, "a cleansing and make-up removing water that respects the fragility of sensitive skin and stimulates moisture. " It effortlessly sweeps away makeup, pollutants and dirt without stripping the skin or depleting its moisture levels. It leaves skin feeling fresh, clean and hydrated. I don't often use it in lieu of a cleanser, but on the occasions when I am too tired to do my full nighttime skincare routine, it does a great job thoroughly cleansing my skin. Purchase Again? I just opened another bottle of another Bioderma micellar water!

Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water ($11.99 for 5.1 oz. from UltaAmazonDermstore and Target): The is a truly wonderful mineral water spray that I have used for at least 5 years now. It is so refreshing and hydrating, and it is utter perfection all year long, but it is especially refreshing during the warm weather.

This water is sourced directly from French volcanoes, and its only ingredient is water. This soothing and refreshing spray feels amazing against the skin, and I often spritz it on right after I apply my favorite beauty oil to help speed up absorption, and because it allows me to use less oil. This can be used any time of the day, but I do like to spritz my face before going to bed for a little extra hydration. However, in the warm and hot weather, I keep this in the refrigerator and use it whenever I need to cool down and feel refreshed, and since the weather has been very hot in LA, I have been reaching for this wth great frequency! Furthermore, it can be used to moisten makeup sponges, used to help set makeup. Purchase Again? Without question!

The A Method Reti-Xo Retinol Exosome Serum ($349.00 for 1.52 oz from Amazon): This highly effective gel-based retinol serum is worthy of note. The lightweight gel serum, which is cruelty-free, gluten-free, fragrance-free and vegan, is effective, easy to use and it doesn't dry out my skin or leave it flaky. It stimulates cell turn-over and collagen production and skin fresh and glowing.

It is extraordinarily important to use a high SPF sunscreen when using retinol-based products because they can cause photosensitivity, and in the absence of a high SPF sunscreen the use of a retinol-based product can lead to hyperpigmentation and/or hypopigmentation. It is also very important to consult with your doctor and/or dermatologist before adding a retinol-based product into your skincare routine. You may have suspicious moles, spots or lesions that could be cancerous or pre-cancerous, and they need to be treated medically before adding cosmetic treatments that could exfoliate those skin conditions. Your doctor may say that retinol-based products simply aren't a good core for your skin. Additionally, some medications that you may be taking may create photosensitivity, and your doctor should evaluate the products that you are thinking of adding to your skincare routine before you decide to try them. Purchase Again? I just opened another bottle!
Shu Uemura Art of Hair Color Lustre Sulfate-Free Brilliant Glaze Shampoo ($56.00 for 10 oz. from SHU UEMURA Art of Hair, SephoraAmazon): This sulfate-free formula provides delicate cleansing of color-treated hair, while giving it a polished touch. Color Lustre Sulfate-Free Brilliant Glaze Shampoo is remarkably gentle and moisturizing, and it is perfect for my curly hair. So perfect, in fact, that it is my shampoo of choice even when my hair isn't colored. It effectively and gently cleans my hair without doesn't stripping it, and that is a rare combination. Purchase Again? I have too many shampoos to purchase more, but I would definitely use this again!

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Color Lustre Brilliant Glaze Conditioner ($64.00 for 8 oz. from SHU UEMURA Art of Hair, SephoraAmazon):This is a nourishing conditioner that adds vibrancy to hair color for a polished touch from roots to ends. Lightweight conditioners seldom deliver tremendous moisture and shine without weighing down hair, but this magical conditioner is like a high quality moisturizing serum. My hair is left soft, shiny and moisturized. It is an absolutely amazing conditioner. Purchase Again? That is a definite yes, but not in the near future because I am swimming in hair conditioners!

JR Liggett’s Tea Tree & Hemp Oil Shampoo Bar ($8.49 for 3.5 oz. from JR Liggett's, Amazon, iHerb): This is a bar shampoo that effectively treats dry and flakey scalp and it's formulated to calm dermatitis. While I do not have dermatitis, I recently found that a drugstore hair dye formula had changed and left my scalp very irritated, itchy and dry. This shampoo has definitely helped return my scalp back to its pre-hair dye equilibrium. It boasts a satisfying lather and it rinses clean without leaving behind an unwanted oily residue. Purchase Again? I have so many shampoos to use before I consider buying any more, but I liked this one a lot.

JR Liggett’s Herbal Formula Shampoo Bar ($8.49 for 3.5 oz. from  JR Liggett'sAmazoniHerb and Walmart): This bar isn't just great for washing hair, but it is also an effective and moisturizing soap for the body. It boasts a rich and creamy lather– which is quite satisfying– and it has a wonderful light herbal aroma. It effectively cleans without stripping and drying out the hair and skin, and it rinses thoroughly without leaving behind an oily residue. I actually ended up using this as an ode bar even more than for my hair! Purchase Again? As I said above, I have far too many shampoos to use before I buy any others, but I liked this one.

Mrs. Meyer's Lemon Verbena Hand Soap ($4.89 for 12.5 oz. and a 3-pack for $13.47 from AmazonWalmart and Target): This is a truly exceptional Lemon Verbena scented hand soap, and it is cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny Certified. After using it daily for over a year, I can say, without hesitation, that this is my all-time favorite hand soap. It moisturizes the skin, and leaves hands very soft and clean without any sort of residue. It has a satisfying lather, a delectable fresh citrus aroma, and it makes washing hands a joy rather than a drab experience. Purchase Again? Without question!

Baylis & Harding Goodness Natural Body Wash in Oud, Cedar & Amber ($8.99 each for 16.9 oz. from Amazon and Target): is a wonder to the senses and the skin. Best described as aromatic and uplifting, this wondrous scent is creamy and warm and perfectly suited for the cold weather. It is neither overpowered by the patchouli, nor overdone by the citrus. Instead, it is has the perfect amount of spice to make it one fetching scent that perfectly embodies the season. Baylis & Harding make luxurious products that are inherently affordable, and thoroughly enjoyable. This is a must-have for me this season. Purchase Again? Most definitely, this is utterly divine!

JR Liggett’s Shaving Foam ($9.99 for 1 oz. travel size and $14.99 for 7 oz. from JR Liggett's and Amazon): What a wonderful shaving foam it is! It is gentle on the skin, beautifully emollient and moisturizing and it washes clean without leaving behind any sort of oily residue. It has a light and clean aroma, but it is barely noticeable and therefore should not bother people who prefer no aromas in their body care products. I used up this travel size pretty quickly because I reached for it all of the time! Purchase Again? I would use it again, but I will not need a shaving cream or foam for quite a while.

Overall Assessment: It was very satisfying tossing all of these empty containers into my recycle bin, and I would happily use all of these products again! What did you use up, toss out, return or give away in August? Any real winners or losers to report?

July 2025 Empties for the Face, Body & Hair

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

I managed to finish up 7 products in the month of July, and almost finished up one of my bar shampoos that will end up being finished in the first few days of August. All but three products were full size and the remaining three were deluxe travel sizes. I would happily use everything again, and thoroughly enjoyed each one of them. Here is what I thought of each thing I finished in July:
Curél Deep Moisture Spray ($15.00 for 5.4 oz. from the Curél Amazon Store): This is one of my very favorite moisturizers for the warmer months, and I have been using it for more than a year, and plan to use it as long as they make it! It is just perfect for the warm/hot weather, and I use it daily. This ultra-fine moisture mist can be used on the face and body and it sinks in immediately leaving skin nourished and hydrated. It is fragrance-free, easy to use and effective. It is especially satisfying on a hot day to refresh the skin with a spritz here and there. Additionally, because it is so light and hydrating it doesn't feel heavy on the skin. It does not, however, contain a sunscreen, so you will need to add your sunscreen after you apply this spray.

I keep mine in the shower, and use it there as well. I spray it on lightly towel dried skin, and then let it sink in before getting dressed. It offers wonderful hydration and it is just so easy to use. Purchase Again? Oh yes, most definitely!

[ comfort zone ] SUBLIME SKIN Cream ($161.00 for 2.13 oz. from [comfort zone]Nordstrom and Amazon): This is yet another product, made in Italy by the Davines Skincare Division, about which I am deliriously happy. This nourishing cream, which is very emollient and hydrating, is lightweight, fast-absorbing and it leaves behind no oily residue. The texture is velvety smooth and creamy, and the experience feels luxurious and indulgent when massaged into the skin. Formulated for normal to dry skin, it offers deep hydration, because this is a Hyaluronic Acid-based cream, and therefore it plumps fine lines and leaves skin more firm in appearance. Skin is left indescribably baby soft, supple, smooth in texture and luminous. It has a faint aroma, which might be described as an herbal/floral scent, but it is neither long-lasting, nor is it in the least bit cloying. Purchase Again? I won't need to buy another face cream for quite some time, but this is definitely one that I would happily use again!

The A Method Pearls of Retinol (The A Method® Pearls of Retinol - 0.5% - $104.00 & 1% - $124.00 from The A MethodThe A Method® Skin Perfecting Serum - $100 from The A Method. The A Method is also sold in their Amazon Store): This retinol comes in two strengths, a milder 0.5% concentration of All-Trans Retinol and the stronger 1% concentration.

Purchase Again? I just opened the 1% strength since the one I just finished was the 0.5% strength.
R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo ($18.00 for 1.6 oz and $37.00 for 6.3 oz. from R+Co, Amazon, Nordstrom, bluemercury and Dermstore): This is a wonderful volumizing dry shampoo that adds body between the times that you shampoo the hair. Purchase Again? I love the quality of this dry shampoo so much that I will definitely buy the full size next time I run out of my current full size dry shampoo.

Herbatint Royal Conditioner ($16.99 for their Permanent Haircolor Gel from iHerbHerbatintAmazon and Walmart): I recently discovered the Italian haircare company that makes what has become my very favorite hair dye. It is healthier than most permanent hair dyes and is far more forgiving on my scalp than most of the drugstore brands of hair color. I plan to review the Herbatint Permanent Haircolor Gel soon, but for now I want to state for the record that the Herbatint Royal Conditioner, that they include in their box of hair dye, is utterly covet-worthy. This lightweight conditioner, that you use immediately after coloring your hair, makes freshly colored hair soft, moisturized, smooth and shiny! Purchase Again? Without question!

Trader Joe's Oatmeal Exfoliant Bar in Almond Ginger ($3.99 for 8.8oz from Trader Joe's) This is a seriously worthy purchase the next time that you shop at Trader Joe's. This French milled soap has little oatmeal exfoliating particles that gently lift dead skin and the luxurious lather releases the delectable almond ginger aroma. It cleans skin beautifully, and at $3.99 (8.8 oz. bar) it is a perfect budget-friendly pick for washing the hands and body. Purchase Again? Yes, on my next trip to Trader Joe's!

LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant in Berry Vanilla ($12.00 for 2 oz. LAVANILAAmazonTarget): While the Berry Vanilla scent is no longer available, there are many scents from which to choose. This is a wonderful healthy deodorant formula that is effective, smells delicious and offers long-lasting protection. Available in a nice range of scents, their scrumptious smelling Healthy Deodorants offer odor protection all day long, and the healthy ingredients condition the skin. If you are seeking an antiperspirant, then be advised that this does not prevent sweating. This has been my favorite healthy deodorant for many years now, and I will use it as long as LAVANILA makes it. It applies to the skin effortlessly, without tugging, and it never leaves a residue or stain on the clothes. This is a cruelty-free brand and their deodorants are free of aluminum and parabens. It appears that they no longer make this particular scent, but their Pure Vanilla scent is actually my favorite– it is warm and creamy perfection, and I absolutely love it! Purchase Again? Without question!
Overall Assessment: I really love everything that I used up this month and would happily use all of these products again! What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in July? Any serious holy grail discoveries or over-hyped duds to report?

March 2025 Empties for the Face, Body & Hair

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

During the month of March I was able to finish up 10 full-size products for the face, body and hair, and I would happily use all of them again. I should state, however, that any product that I use up is something that I really like or love, and that I would happily use again. I stopped using products that I disliked long ago, and see no point in using them. I try to re-home or repurpose products that don't work for me, and use products that I really enjoy using! Here are my thoughts on what I used up in March:
Spongellé Sugar Dahlia Heart Body Wash Infused Buffer (Currently on sale for $10.00 from Spongellé): The smell of this buffer is delectable, the top notes are composed of Citrus Nuances, Solar Accord, the middle notes are a delightful amalgam of Midnight Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Freesia, Muguet, Neroli, and the base notes are a lovely musk. Purchase Again? This particular sold out, but there are others from this collection that are currently on sale, and new heart body buffers that are not on sale. I would most definitely use this again!

Mrs. Meyer's Lemon Verbena Hand Soap ($4.99 for 12.5 oz. and a 3-pack for $13.94 from AmazonWalmart and Target): is a glorious lemon verbena scented hand soap that is cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny Certified. It moisturizes the skin, and leaves the hands very soft and clean without any sort of residue. It has a satisfying lather, a delectable fresh citrus aroma, and it makes washing hands a joy rather than a drab experience. Purchase Again? Yes, I absolutely love this hand soap, and I just opened a new bottle!
Philip B. White Truffle Ultra Rich Moisturizing Shampoo: This is, without question, the most luxurious shampoo that I have ever used, and it cost an astounding $90.00 for 7.4 oz. It appears that it was discontinued, and it was prohibitively expensive, but it was rich, creamy, moisturizing and it had a delectable nutty aroma. I enjoyed every single drop. After I photographed it, I added water to get the last two uses from this beautiful shampoo! Purchase Again, if it was still available? If it was deeply discounted, I definitely would!

milk_shake Moisture Plus Conditioner ($28.00 for 8.4oz. from milk_shake and Amazon): This deeply moisturizing conditioner, which boasts the thickness and emollience of a mask, has a delectable papaya aroma. The conditioner is formulated for dry and dehydrated hair. It is also a lovely choice for the cold weather when the skin, hair and scalp are subjected to extreme temperatures that can really dry them out. The shampoo thoroughly cleanses the hair, and it rinses clean without stripping the hair or weighing it down. The conditioner offers hair nourishing hydration that leaves hair soft, smooth, manageable and free from frizz and flyaways. Purchase Again? Given the I cut open the tube to get every last bit of product out, I would say that I am sure to purchase it again!

The A Method Bubble Foaming Oxygenated Cleanser ($42.00 for 4 oz. from The A Method and their Amazon Store): is so kind and gentle on even on sensitive skin. This cleanser has a gentle bubbling effect that thoroughly cleanses the skin without ever stripping it or leaving it dry. Formulated for all type of skin, it leaves skin clean, soft, smooth and hydrated. However, it doesn't leave behind any sort of residue. It is gentle enough to use in the morning and evening each day. Purchase Again? I really enjoyed this cleanser, and never stopped using it once I opened it. However, I have many open bottles of facial cleansers that I need to use before I contemplate buying another one.

Annmarie Aloe Herb Cleanser ($35.50 for 1.7 oz and $58.00 for 3.4 from their Official Amazon Store): This is a lightweight and creamy Aloe Vera-based cleanser that thoroughly cleans the skin and leaves it soft, smooth and hydrated without feeling greasy or stripped. While it doesn't lather, it also lacks the heaviness of a cream cleanser. Instead, it behaves like a gel cleanser that washes clean. It has a wonderful light aroma informed by citrus, floral and herbal ingredients, and it is best described as pleasant and refreshing. It leaves my skin thoroughly cleansed and luminous, and it as effective as it is gentle. Suitable for all types of skin. Purchase Again? As I said above, I have far too many open facial cleansers to purchase another one, but I would definitely love to use this again in the future.

Aftelier Perfumes Geranium Cleansing Oil ($8.00 for 2ml. sample and $40.00 for 30ml from Aftelier Perfumes): This is a truly exemplary cleansing oil, the likes of which I have never experienced. My initial observations were informed by the disbelief that there was a permutation of geranium that was so otherworldly. One cannot sufficiently underscore the extent to which Mandy is an artist of rare genius, and this cleansing oil is a reminder of this fact. Geranium often has a sharp edge, but this golden elixir is warm, soft, slightly peppery and informed by a current of light floral notes. Mandy deftly selected each of the ingredients in perfect proportions, and the result is a balance of elements of which only she is capable. The aroma is the sublime embodiment of what geranium could only ever hope to be, and that could only be realized by Mandy.

The texture of this oil is impossibly silky and smooth, and its tactile effects are not only ultra-luxe, but it is likewise visceral in its ability to evoke unmitigated joy. Use of this cleansing oil, is therefore, profoundly experiential and it requires a slowing down, being present, and savoring every moment of its use. As you massage the oil into your skin, you will naturally be inclined to take long and deep breaths, and this will quiet the mind and soothe the senses. After massaging the skin, add a little warm water to emulsify this magical oil and then rinse with warm water and pat dry. Purchase Again? I would definitely purchase this again! A+

Aftelier Perfumes Vetiver & Frankincense Face Elixir ($8.00 for 1 ml and $75.00 for 20ml. from Aftelier Perfumes): I perpetually extol the virtues of Mandy Aftel's handmade Face Elixirs, and with each new addition to her perfectly articulated and curated collection she showcases the extent to which a boundless creative imagination and unmitigated brilliance can do what no one else can do. Aftelier Perfumes Vetiver & Frankincense Face Elixir is the most unexpected, sophisticated, refined and intoxicatingly beautiful permutation of Vetiver and Frankincense that could only have been imagined by Mandy. Her erudition is felt in the way in which her alchemical mastery pairs unexpected aromatic juxtapositions, and this new elixir perfectly underscores this point.

Mandy's brilliance is, in part, a function of this very ability to unite disparate elements into a singular unified heavenly elixir that is unprecedented in the vast sea of face oils. Each note, no matter how assertive, is tempered by the properties inherent in the other oils chosen. and her nuanced selections are a function of her intimate knowledge and intuitive ability to navigate thousands upon thousands of aromatic possibilities, and to then capture those most perfectly suited to her vision. She does not follow trends, and her standards exceed the expectations set by everyone else making face oils. This is one of the finest face oils you will ever try! Purchase Again? In a heartbeat, it's that amazing!

INDIE LEE Squalane Facial Oil ($38.00 for 1 oz. from INDIE LEENordstromUltaCredo Beauty and Bluemercury): If you are a quality skincare fanatic, then you have probably been hearing a lot of buzz about Squalane-based products lately. Among the features for which it is hailed a must-have ingredient in your skincare: its lightweight and non-greasy texture, its ability to lock moisture into the skin, its serious anti-inflammatory properties, and the fact that it is good for a wide variety of skin types. The anti-inflammatory properties help to reduce redness, irritation and swelling– therefore making it an ideal ingredient for sensitive skin, acne-prone skin and skin that is susceptible to dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis and rosacea.  This is a very lightweight and fast absorbing oil that immediately sinks into the skin without leaving behind any sort of oily residue. It is formulated for normal, dry, combination and oily skin types, and it helps to relieve dryness, dullness and uneven texture. Unlike many facial oils, this is made from a single ingredient: 100% squalane that is olive-derived. It has no fragrance, and it has a lovely silky-smooth texture. It immediately improves hydration, helps to balance excessive oil production, plumps fine lines and soothes irritated skin. It is a wonderful choice to calm and heal post-peel and exfoliated skin, and it leaves it soft, smooth, supple and luminous. Purchase Again? Another bottle is in my future, but not until I finish up some of my open bottles of facial oils!

Curél Intensive Moisture Care Moisture Facial Milk ($22.50 for 4 oz. from the Curél Amazon Store): This is just my kind of moisturizer for the warm and hot weather. It is lightweight, fast-absorbing, fragrance-free, non-irritating and incredibly moisturizing without feeling heavy on the skin. While it is intended for dry and sensitive skin, my normal/combination skin really looks and feels great when I use this moisturizer! It comes in a huge 4 oz. bottle with a convenient and sanitary pump dispenser and it does everything that it claims to do. Furthermore, this wonderful and thoughtfully crafted Japanese skincare brand creates luxurious products that are actually affordable! Purchase Again? While I would definitely purchase this again, I can't justify buying any more moisturizers until I use up some of my open bottles and jars!
Overall Assessment: I really enjoyed using these products in March, and have already scoped out what I will be using in April! What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in March? Any really great discoveries to report? Any disappointments? Any over-hyped products that weren't worth buying? Do tell!

The A Method Orange You Peppy Facial Peptide Moisturizer Revisited

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

The A Method Orange You Peppy Facial Peptide Moisturizer is a peptide and antioxidant-rich moisturizer that effectively nourishes and moisturizes the skin. I have used this peptide-rich moisturizer for a little over a year, and I just love it so much that I wanted to revisit this hardworking gem of a product.

It has an emollient mid-weight texture that immediately melts into the skin, and it leaves no greasy residue. The skin-soluble Vitamin C helps to brighten skin, fade hyperpigmentation and evens skin tone over time. Additionally, the Hyaluronic Acid retains hydration and plumps fine lines and therefore skin is left soft, smooth, supple, hydrated and positively luminous. It has a faint citrus aroma upon application, but it fades away once it is absorbed into the skin. Additionally, it leaves my skin soft, smooth, supple, hydrated and luminous.

According to A Method,

Facial moisturizer formulated with 3 powerful peptides plus antioxidant vitamin C to revive and nourish a healthy, hydrated complexion.

Formulated with skin-soluble vitamin C plus a high concentration of three powerful peptides to restore vibrant complexion via collagen nourishment and hydration balance. Skin-strengthening amino acids further plump firm and smooth skin for improved elasticity and a more energetic look.

KEY BENEFITS:

  • Oil-soluble vitamin C deeply absorbs for potent antioxidant support.
  • AH-8, a topical neuromodulator, nourishes collagen and plumps skin.
  • PT-1 firms skin for improved elasticity and “plumpness”.
  • PT-7 smooths texture and refines complexion.
  • Promotes collagen nourishment and formation of healthy cells.
  • Helps improve skin-barrier-function against pollution.

Directions: Recommended for mature skin types to plump and revive skin appearance. Apply a light layer to face, neck, and décolleté in the morning and/or at night after cleansing and serum application.

The A Method Reti-Xo Retinol Exosome Serum Review

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

I have been happily using The A Method products for quite a while now, and I am quite impressed by their products. Created by a dermatologist, The A Method seeks to create high quality, and effective, products that simplify your skincare routine.

About The A Method,

The A Method® was created by Tina Alster, M.D. – founding director of the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery and clinical professor of dermatology at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC. to provide her patients the ability to maintain and care for their skin at home.

Dr. Alster is a world-recognized leader in dermatologic laser surgery and has published hundreds of articles and 8 textbooks on the subject. She received her B.S. and M.D. degrees with highest honors from Duke University and completed her dermatology residency at Yale University. It's our mission to simplify skincare routines using clean, paraben-free formulas without fragrances, dyes and other stressors that can lead to many common skin concerns.

My latest discovery is The A Method Reti-Xo Retinol Exosome Serum, and this highly effective gel-based retinol serum is worthy of note.

According to The A Method,

Reti-XO is a revolutionary serum formulated with Plant Exosomes and gentle levels of 1% All Trans Retinol to stimulate conditions for strong collagen, vibrant complexion and improved elasticity.
