June 2025 Empties for the Hair and Body

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

Surprisingly, I didn't use up a single skincare product in June, but instead just products for the hair and body. Of the 8 products that I used, there were 5 haircare products and three body products. 7 of the products were full-size, and one was a deluxe sample hair conditioner that came in a box of hair dye. I thoroughly enjoyed using each of these products and would happily use all of them again. However, I am currently swimming in shampoos and conditioners and won't buy any more until I use up a few more that I already have.
Herbatint Royal Conditioner ($16.99 for their Permanent Haircolor Gel from iHerb, Herbatint, Amazon, Walmart and Target): I recently discovered the Italian haircare company that makes what has become my very favorite hair dye. It is healthier than most permanent hair dyes and is far more forgiving on my scalp than most of the drugstore brands of hair color. I plan to review the Herbatint Permanent Haircolor Gel soon, but for now I want to state for the record that the Herbatint Royal Conditioner, that they include in their box of hair dye, is utterly covet-worthy. This lightweight conditioner, that you use immediately after coloring your hair, makes freshly colored hair soft, moisturized, smooth and shiny! Purchase Again? Without question! I bought 4 boxes when they were recently on sale!

Anihana Shampoo Bar in Manuka Honey & Almond ($9.97 from AnihanaAmazon): This delectably honey and almond scented shampoo bar forms a luscious creamy lather that thoroughly cleans the hair and it leaves behind no unwanted residue. It leaves hair clean, manageable and frizz-free. Purchase Again? Perhaps in the distant future when I don't have so many shampoos to use up first.

Anihana Conditioner Bar in Manuka Honey & Almond ($9.99 from AnihanaAmazon): This ultra-nourishing, and delectably honey and almond scented conditioning bar deeply conditions the hair without weighing it down. It leaves my curly hair manageable, frizz-free and shiny. Purchase Again? I would definitely use this again, but I have too many conditioners to use up first!

milk_shake leave-in conditioner in flower fragrance ($26.00 for 11.8 oz. from milk_shake and their Amazon Store): my latest discovery from this wonderful brand, and I can't say enough good things about it! I use leave-in conditioners every single day– I use them after I wash my hair and even on days when I don't since a good leave-in conditioner keeps my hair manageable and hydrated. This lovely leave-in detangles, offers my hair lasting hydration, and fights frizz and leaves my hair soft and shiny. It has a wonderful fragrance that is delectable and intoxicating, but if you don't use fragrant hair products, this one might not be for you. However, the aroma isn't imposing or distracting. It is formulated for all types of hair. Purchase Again? I already opened a new bottle!

Philip B. Scent of Santa Fe Shampoo ($60.00 for 11.8 oz. from Philip B, Dermstore, Bloomingdale's): Philip B. Scent of Santa Fe Balancing Shampoo is a very hydrating and nourishing shampoo that is gentle enough for daily use, and it has the most incredible aroma punctuated by Sage and Juniper Berry. It smells like a beautiful Autumn day– which is an utter delight this time of year. It is suitable for all hair types, and it thoroughly cleanses without stripping the hair or scalp of their precious oils. Purchase Again? I have too many shampoos to use up first, but I would happily use this ultra-luxe shampoo again!
Baylis & Harding Natural Body Wash in Sea Kelp & Peppermint ($6.99 for 16.9 oz. from Target & Amazon): This heavenly body wash offers a refreshing reprieve from this sweltering summer heat. I run a lukewarm shower and use a body sponge to lather up this gorgeous refreshing aromatic body wash, and it is truly uplifting to the senses. The peppermint is tempered by the sea kelp, and it never overwhelms. This is my current go-to body wash, and it throughly cleans and leaves skin soft and never dry or stripped. Purchase Again? I just opened another bottle of their body wash! This British brand really knows how to make affordable luxury products!

Mrs. Meyer's Compassion Flower Hand Soap ($4.89-$5.12 for 12.5 oz. and a 3-pack for $14.64 from AmazonWalmart and Target): This is not your typical floral scented hand soap, but instead the aroma is neither too sweet, nor too fragrant. It has a light and delicate floral aroma that is uplifting and understated. This is a very moisturizing hand soap that neither strips the skin, nor leaves behind an oily residue. Instead, it is utter hand soap perfection.  Purchase Again? I already opened another bottle!

LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant in Vanilla & Earth ($12.00 for 2 oz. LAVANILAAmazonTarget): This is a wonderful healthy deodorant formula that is effective, smells delicious and offers long-lasting protection. Available in a nice range of scents, their scrumptious smelling Healthy Deodorants offer odor protection all day long, and the healthy ingredients condition the skin. If you are seeking an antiperspirant, then be advised that this does not prevent sweating. This has been my favorite healthy deodorant for many years now, and I will use it as long as LAVANILA makes it. It applies to the skin effortlessly, without tugging, and it never leaves a residue or stain on the clothes. This is a cruelty-free brand and their deodorants are free of aluminum and parabens. It appears that they no longer make this particular scent, but their Pure Vanilla scent is actually my favorite– it is warm and creamy perfection, and I absolutely love it! Purchase Again? Without question!

Overall Assessment: While I didn't manage to finish a single skincare product, I think that I will finish up a couple of them next month. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in June? Any amazing finds or duds to report?

March 2025 Empties for the Face, Body & Hair

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

During the month of March I was able to finish up 10 full-size products for the face, body and hair, and I would happily use all of them again. I should state, however, that any product that I use up is something that I really like or love, and that I would happily use again. I stopped using products that I disliked long ago, and see no point in using them. I try to re-home or repurpose products that don't work for me, and use products that I really enjoy using! Here are my thoughts on what I used up in March:
Spongellé Sugar Dahlia Heart Body Wash Infused Buffer (Currently on sale for $10.00 from Spongellé): The smell of this buffer is delectable, the top notes are composed of Citrus Nuances, Solar Accord, the middle notes are a delightful amalgam of Midnight Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Freesia, Muguet, Neroli, and the base notes are a lovely musk. Purchase Again? This particular sold out, but there are others from this collection that are currently on sale, and new heart body buffers that are not on sale. I would most definitely use this again!

Mrs. Meyer's Lemon Verbena Hand Soap ($4.99 for 12.5 oz. and a 3-pack for $13.94 from AmazonWalmart and Target): is a glorious lemon verbena scented hand soap that is cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny Certified. It moisturizes the skin, and leaves the hands very soft and clean without any sort of residue. It has a satisfying lather, a delectable fresh citrus aroma, and it makes washing hands a joy rather than a drab experience. Purchase Again? Yes, I absolutely love this hand soap, and I just opened a new bottle!
Philip B. White Truffle Ultra Rich Moisturizing Shampoo: This is, without question, the most luxurious shampoo that I have ever used, and it cost an astounding $90.00 for 7.4 oz. It appears that it was discontinued, and it was prohibitively expensive, but it was rich, creamy, moisturizing and it had a delectable nutty aroma. I enjoyed every single drop. After I photographed it, I added water to get the last two uses from this beautiful shampoo! Purchase Again, if it was still available? If it was deeply discounted, I definitely would!

milk_shake Moisture Plus Conditioner ($28.00 for 8.4oz. from milk_shake and Amazon): This deeply moisturizing conditioner, which boasts the thickness and emollience of a mask, has a delectable papaya aroma. The conditioner is formulated for dry and dehydrated hair. It is also a lovely choice for the cold weather when the skin, hair and scalp are subjected to extreme temperatures that can really dry them out. The shampoo thoroughly cleanses the hair, and it rinses clean without stripping the hair or weighing it down. The conditioner offers hair nourishing hydration that leaves hair soft, smooth, manageable and free from frizz and flyaways. Purchase Again? Given the I cut open the tube to get every last bit of product out, I would say that I am sure to purchase it again!

The A Method Bubble Foaming Oxygenated Cleanser ($42.00 for 4 oz. from The A Method and their Amazon Store): is so kind and gentle on even on sensitive skin. This cleanser has a gentle bubbling effect that thoroughly cleanses the skin without ever stripping it or leaving it dry. Formulated for all type of skin, it leaves skin clean, soft, smooth and hydrated. However, it doesn't leave behind any sort of residue. It is gentle enough to use in the morning and evening each day. Purchase Again? I really enjoyed this cleanser, and never stopped using it once I opened it. However, I have many open bottles of facial cleansers that I need to use before I contemplate buying another one.

Annmarie Aloe Herb Cleanser ($35.50 for 1.7 oz and $58.00 for 3.4 from their Official Amazon Store): This is a lightweight and creamy Aloe Vera-based cleanser that thoroughly cleans the skin and leaves it soft, smooth and hydrated without feeling greasy or stripped. While it doesn't lather, it also lacks the heaviness of a cream cleanser. Instead, it behaves like a gel cleanser that washes clean. It has a wonderful light aroma informed by citrus, floral and herbal ingredients, and it is best described as pleasant and refreshing. It leaves my skin thoroughly cleansed and luminous, and it as effective as it is gentle. Suitable for all types of skin. Purchase Again? As I said above, I have far too many open facial cleansers to purchase another one, but I would definitely love to use this again in the future.

Aftelier Perfumes Geranium Cleansing Oil ($8.00 for 2ml. sample and $40.00 for 30ml from Aftelier Perfumes): This is a truly exemplary cleansing oil, the likes of which I have never experienced. My initial observations were informed by the disbelief that there was a permutation of geranium that was so otherworldly. One cannot sufficiently underscore the extent to which Mandy is an artist of rare genius, and this cleansing oil is a reminder of this fact. Geranium often has a sharp edge, but this golden elixir is warm, soft, slightly peppery and informed by a current of light floral notes. Mandy deftly selected each of the ingredients in perfect proportions, and the result is a balance of elements of which only she is capable. The aroma is the sublime embodiment of what geranium could only ever hope to be, and that could only be realized by Mandy.

The texture of this oil is impossibly silky and smooth, and its tactile effects are not only ultra-luxe, but it is likewise visceral in its ability to evoke unmitigated joy. Use of this cleansing oil, is therefore, profoundly experiential and it requires a slowing down, being present, and savoring every moment of its use. As you massage the oil into your skin, you will naturally be inclined to take long and deep breaths, and this will quiet the mind and soothe the senses. After massaging the skin, add a little warm water to emulsify this magical oil and then rinse with warm water and pat dry. Purchase Again? I would definitely purchase this again! A+

Aftelier Perfumes Vetiver & Frankincense Face Elixir ($8.00 for 1 ml and $75.00 for 20ml. from Aftelier Perfumes): I perpetually extol the virtues of Mandy Aftel's handmade Face Elixirs, and with each new addition to her perfectly articulated and curated collection she showcases the extent to which a boundless creative imagination and unmitigated brilliance can do what no one else can do. Aftelier Perfumes Vetiver & Frankincense Face Elixir is the most unexpected, sophisticated, refined and intoxicatingly beautiful permutation of Vetiver and Frankincense that could only have been imagined by Mandy. Her erudition is felt in the way in which her alchemical mastery pairs unexpected aromatic juxtapositions, and this new elixir perfectly underscores this point.

Mandy's brilliance is, in part, a function of this very ability to unite disparate elements into a singular unified heavenly elixir that is unprecedented in the vast sea of face oils. Each note, no matter how assertive, is tempered by the properties inherent in the other oils chosen. and her nuanced selections are a function of her intimate knowledge and intuitive ability to navigate thousands upon thousands of aromatic possibilities, and to then capture those most perfectly suited to her vision. She does not follow trends, and her standards exceed the expectations set by everyone else making face oils. This is one of the finest face oils you will ever try! Purchase Again? In a heartbeat, it's that amazing!

INDIE LEE Squalane Facial Oil ($38.00 for 1 oz. from INDIE LEENordstromUltaCredo Beauty and Bluemercury): If you are a quality skincare fanatic, then you have probably been hearing a lot of buzz about Squalane-based products lately. Among the features for which it is hailed a must-have ingredient in your skincare: its lightweight and non-greasy texture, its ability to lock moisture into the skin, its serious anti-inflammatory properties, and the fact that it is good for a wide variety of skin types. The anti-inflammatory properties help to reduce redness, irritation and swelling– therefore making it an ideal ingredient for sensitive skin, acne-prone skin and skin that is susceptible to dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis and rosacea.  This is a very lightweight and fast absorbing oil that immediately sinks into the skin without leaving behind any sort of oily residue. It is formulated for normal, dry, combination and oily skin types, and it helps to relieve dryness, dullness and uneven texture. Unlike many facial oils, this is made from a single ingredient: 100% squalane that is olive-derived. It has no fragrance, and it has a lovely silky-smooth texture. It immediately improves hydration, helps to balance excessive oil production, plumps fine lines and soothes irritated skin. It is a wonderful choice to calm and heal post-peel and exfoliated skin, and it leaves it soft, smooth, supple and luminous. Purchase Again? Another bottle is in my future, but not until I finish up some of my open bottles of facial oils!

Curél Intensive Moisture Care Moisture Facial Milk ($22.50 for 4 oz. from the Curél Amazon Store): This is just my kind of moisturizer for the warm and hot weather. It is lightweight, fast-absorbing, fragrance-free, non-irritating and incredibly moisturizing without feeling heavy on the skin. While it is intended for dry and sensitive skin, my normal/combination skin really looks and feels great when I use this moisturizer! It comes in a huge 4 oz. bottle with a convenient and sanitary pump dispenser and it does everything that it claims to do. Furthermore, this wonderful and thoughtfully crafted Japanese skincare brand creates luxurious products that are actually affordable! Purchase Again? While I would definitely purchase this again, I can't justify buying any more moisturizers until I use up some of my open bottles and jars!
Overall Assessment: I really enjoyed using these products in March, and have already scoped out what I will be using in April! What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in March? Any really great discoveries to report? Any disappointments? Any over-hyped products that weren't worth buying? Do tell!

Empties Galore for the Face, Body, Hair and Home for August 2023

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

This month I managed to finish up 11 products (9 full size, 1 deluxe sample and 1 perfume sample), and I am pretty pleased by the empties in my recycle bin this month! Here is what I used up this month:

My Kirei by Kai Yuzu Flower Foam Hand Wash ($18.00 for 8.5 oz. from MyKirei and their Amazon Store): This is, without question, the most charming hand soap that I have tried. Each pump of this fetching hand soap produces a floral shaped dense and creamy foam that is soft and creamy to the touch. It thoroughly cleans the hands, without ever stripping, and in fact leaves them moisturized. The lovely Yuzu aroma is uplifting and refreshing, but it doesn't linger for long after rinsing. Everything about this beautiful hand soap is wondrous. Purchase Again? I plan to buy a refill!

Spongellé Burnt Sugar Confection Buffer ($20.00 from Spongellé): Light, sweet and fluffy, this sugary strawberries and cream buffer smells good enough to eat– though I don't recommend it! It also does an exceptional job cleaning and exfoliating the skin! Purchase Again? I would definitely buy this one again, but not until I use up my unopened Spongellé Body Buffers.

Thinksport Epsom Salt Bubble Bath ($7.99-$8.49 for 8 oz. from Thinksport and Amazon): is an effective, and cruelty-free, bubble bath that is formulated to relieve sore muscles. Whether your muscles are sore from a vigorous workout or from a long and exhausting day, this bubble bath offers the perfect peaceful soak that soothes the spirit and relieves sore muscles. Instead of a pungent therapeutic aroma, that can be cloying, this wonderful bubble bath has a lovely citrus floral scent. I was so relaxed after my first use that I slept like a baby! Purchase Again? I just opened another tube!

Banish All Clear Mint Cleanser ($39.00 for 59ml from Banish): which is a gentle lathering cleanser, is formulated for oily, combination, normal and dry skin types. I was initially a bit concerned that this cleanser was going to be too minty for me, and that this could be a problem for my sensitive eyes, but I am pleased to say that was not the case. In fact, the aroma is informed by a mixture of the ingredients, and the result is a lightly herbal scent. The lather is satisfying, but it's neither drying, nor stripping in the least bit. Furthermore, it thoroughly cleans the skin without leaving an oily residue. Each time that I use it, my normal/combination skin is left clean, soft and lightly hydrated. Purchase AgaIn? While I liked it a lot, I have far too many facial cleansers to use before buying another one.

Erno Laszlo Phelityl Day Lotion SPF 15 ($122.00 for 3 oz. from Erno Laszlo and Nordstrom): This is a weightless moisturizer that includes broad-spectrum UV protection. It is very hydrating and leaves skin soft, smooth and supple. Erno Laszlo used to make this same lotion without an SPF, and I actually preferred that version since this version only has an SPF 15, and I use a much higher SPF sunscreen on my face. Purchase Again? No, but I would if it had a higher SPF, or if they brought back the original formula without sunscreen since I add a sunscreen after my lotion.

Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Memory Sleep Mask ($49.00 for 0.50 oz. and $120.00 for 1.35 oz. from Erno LaszloNordstrom and SkinStore): This is a phenomenal sleep mask, and I wish that I had discovered it sooner. This is a wonderfully hydrating overnight mask with a bouncy gel texture that melts into the skin immediately, and it leaves behind no residue whatsoever. I simply massage a small amount into my face, neck and décolleté directly after cleansing my skin, and it is immediately lusciously hydrating. However, when I wake up the next morning, I really note the extent to which my skin is dewy, soft, smooth and hydrated. I also have noticed that it plumps fine lines and makes my skin look and feel rejuvenated. There is a barely-there whisper of an aroma, from the ingredients themselves, but I do not detect a scent once it is applied to my skin. For even more impressive results, I use this mask directly after the Erno Laszlo AHA Resurfacing Sleep Serum (Reviewed HERE), and this combination of products gently exfoliates and hydrates the skin, and the following morning my skin has a pronounced clarity and luminosity. Truly a dynamic duo! Purchase Again? Yes, the next time Erno Laszlo has a sale!

Crystal Essence Mineral Deodorant Roll-On in Chamomile & Green Tea (Bundle of three for $15.00 from Amazon and $6.79 for 2.25 oz. from The Crystal and WalgreensWalmart): I have used  most of their scents, but there is something so pleasant about this one. It has a wonderful and light herbal/floral aroma that in't in the least bit imposing, and it offers me all-day protection. Purchase Again? I will definitely be purchasing one of the three-packs from Amazon since it offers a great savings.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby Silent Street ($85.00 for 1.7 oz. from Macy's and Amazon): This is the type of fragrance that wraps itself around your senses in the most subtle way. It sits close to the skin, invites frequent deep breaths to take it in, and it is light and elegant enough to actually wear to work. While it is decidedly in the floral family, it has an undercurrent of White Musk that makes it the perfect clean floral for those among you who don't often reach for florals. While this is a remarkably feminine and fetching scent, it isn't a girly floral. The White Musk effectively tempers the light floral sensibility, and it has a very calm and peaceful demeanor. It is a light scent, which might lead you to believe that its sillage would be entirely elusive, and while it is not among the airborne fragrances that sit aloft in the air for a long period of time, after you leave the room, this scent remains intimate in its desire to remain close to the skin without imposing itself on everyone else in the neighboring zip codes. It is, in a word, lovely. Purchase Again? I have far too many perfumes to use before purchasing more, but I will consider buying it again if and when I need a new fragrance.

Abel Black Anise Eau de Parfum ($180.00 for 50 ml. from Abel): Abel describes this fragrance as, "A vibrant, smoky amber with dynamic star anise top notes, a rich blackcurrant and cacao heart, and a distinctive tobacco base. Black Anise is a dark and sultry scent that is sure to surprise. Long-lasting, powerful and deeply memorable." Purchase Again? This is an indescribably beautiful fragrance, and I would love a full size bottle. The sample size didn't provide enough perfume to review it, but when I am in "need" of a bottle of perfume, I will definitely revisit Abel.

Philip B. Maui Wowie Volumizing & Thickening Beach Mist ($30.00 for 5.07 oz. from Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's): Philip B. Maui Wowie Volumizing & Thickening Beach Mist is an ultra-light, non-sticky spray that gives hair tousled beachy waves with a gorgeous glossy shine. It moisturizes my hair, while enhancing my curls and adds textured volume. It also has a delightful beachy aroma that I really love. Purchase Again? Oh, definitely, this is my favorite volumizing and thickening hair mist!

Spongellé Florica Floret Mystic Rose Diffuser: ($60.00 from Spongellé): This is by far the most stunning diffuser that I have ever seen in my entire life. I am not exaggerating in the least bit, and opening up the ultra-luxe box to find this work of art was utterly breathtaking, and in fact I let out a gasp when I first saw it in person. Suffice it to say, pictures simply do not do it any justice.

The wonderful time-released fragrance lasts for about 8 weeks and each 8 oz. bottle is good for 2 uses (16 weeks) since Spongellé suggests using about 4 oz. Refill bottles can be purchased separately.

The rich and bold color of the leaves are stunning to look at, and the aroma released is a beautiful amalgam of Rose (top note), Water Lily (middle note) and Sweet Musk (base note), and the result is a complex floral that is neither too sweet, nor too musky. In my estimation, it is the embodiment of the perfect home fragrance. I keep mine in my home office, and it makes it a real pleasure to sit and work at my desk. Purchase Again? I need to order a refill!

Overall Assessment: I am pleased that I continue finishing up so many open products before they go bad. I have no duds to report this month, what about you? Any hero products to share?

Empties Galore in June 2023

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

I managed to finish up 9 products in June, and I am happy to say that I thoroughly enjoyed using all of these products. There isn't a disappointing product in the bunch, and I would happily use all of them again!
Spongellé Men's Bold Buffer ($22.00 for 3.5 oz. from Spongellé): Spongellé makes brilliant body wash-infused sponges effectively and gently clean and exfoliate the skin, and they also leave the it deliciously baby soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. They really excel in their ability to clean and exfoliate the skin while delighting the senses with their delightful aromas. This scent is described as a luxurious blend of  "mango, shea, cocoa butters, and extracts powered by the three C’s (cypress, comfrey, and cucumber) for a truly elevated bathing experience." Purchase Again? I would definitely get this one again!

Rituals Zensation Organic Rice Milk & Cherry Blossom Foaming Shower Gel (I am not sure if they still make this scent, or if they changed the name): You simply apply a small amount of the shower oil to your skin and as soon as it has contact with water it emulsifies and turns from an oil consistency to a thin milky emulsion that effectively cleans the skin, and leaves it delectably soft smooth and moisturized. The scent is delightful and uplifting, but not  too sweet. While the scent is lovely it does not linger since it is, for the most part, washed away. Purchase Again? This was my last bottle of their marvelous foaming shower gels, and I definitely plan to buy more!

Trader Joe's Lavender Chamomile Hand Soap ($3.99 for 17 oz. from Trader Joe's):
This hand soap is one of my all-time favorites, and it is so affordable! It produces a very  satisfying lather, and yet it neither strips, nor dries out the hands. It doesn't overpower with the potential pungency of lavender because it is tempered by the chamomile, and the aroma doesn't linger on the hands after rinsing. Hands are left soft, nourished and lightly hydrated. Purchase Again? Without question, and I will buy several of them the next time I go to Trader Joe's.

Spongellé Bulgarian Rose Hand & Body Wash ($24.00 each for 11 oz. from Spongellé): Their hand & body washes are truly extraordinary additions to Spongellé's collection, and the Bulgarian Rose is an absolute showstopper. It is a sophisticated blend of the following notes: Top: Orange, Clove, Strawberry. Middle: Rose, White Flowers, Jasmine. Base: Woody, Sandalwood, Ambery. Spongellé, a Los Angeles based company, creates beautiful products that delight the senses and the skin, and they make wonderful gifts. Purchase Again? Most definitely!

Philip B. Oud Royal Forever Shine Shampoo ($88.00 for 7.4 oz. from Nordstrom, Space NK): This shampoo is utterly unbelievable! This ultra-nourishing shampoo features time-released botanical moisturizers that make hair soft, supple, hydrated and give it a praiseworthy glossy shine. Oud Royal Forever Shine Shampoo is able to give my naturally curly hair unprecedented shine, and those among you with curly tresses know the extent to which it is difficult achieve shiny curly hair, but this miracle formula really delivers serious shine. Purchase Again? I am currently using another one of their shampoos, and won't need to purchase another for a long time, but this is definitely worth the splurge at some point in the future.

KMS Moistrepair Revival Creme ($23.00 for 4.2 oz. from KMS Hair, Amazon and Walmart): This is like a big sip of moisture for the hair, and it is very impressive the extent to which it restores moisture and manageability to hair, and it also effectively controls frizz. Purchase Again? I have too many bottles of conditioner to use before I need to buy another, but I will definitely consider this again in the future.

Erno Laszlo Phelityl Night Cream ($146.00 for 1.7 oz. from Erno LaszloNordstromSkinStoreAmazon): This cream, which is pH-balancing, is formulated to repair, strengthen and hydrate your skin while you sleep. It is very thick, but miraculously lightweight, fast-absorbing and non-greasy. It quickly melts into the skin, leaves behind no residue whatsoever, and deeply moisturizes. When I wake up my skin is so soft, supple, moisturized and luminous. Additionally, it softens the appearance of fine lines and makes my skin look incredible. It can also be used during the day, but it contains no sunscreen, and therefore you need to use a separate sunscreen if you use this during the day. It has a very light and pleasant aroma that quickly dissipates, and it can be used for all types of skin. It is perfect for my normal/combination skin, but I think that people with dry skin might prefer a richer cream at night. Purchase Again? I already opened another jar.

100% Pure Apple Enzyme Exfoliating Cleanser ($32.00 for 4oz. from 100% Pure): This exfoliating cleanser features 7% fruit acids that effectively exfoliate dead skin cells by accelerating skin cell turnover to reveal a clean, clear and even complexion. I am struck by its efficacy as an exfoliator, but also by the fact that my skin isn't left taut and dry after use. Instead, my skin is left soft, smooth and luminous. This cleanser has a wonderful green apple scent that is very refreshing and pleasant. Purchase Again? I won't need another cleanser for quite a while, but I would definitely use this one again.

Crystal Essence Mineral Deodorant Roll-On (Bundle of three for $15.00 from Amazon in a bundle of $6.79 for 2.25 oz. from The Crystal and WalgreensWalmart): Their deodorants are available in a delightful array of scents, and this unscented variety. These natural roll-on deodorants offer me all-day protection and they neither stain clothing, nor do they irritate my sensitive skin. They are not antiperspirants, and therefore will not prevent sweating. Purchase Again? Unquestionably!
Overall Assessment: I am very pleased to have finished up this many open containers in June, and really enjoyed all of these products. While I have no need to replace any of them at this moment, I would happily use all of these products again. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return to sender in June? Do you have any great products to report? Any duds to avoid?

Empties Galore in August 2022

Press Sample & Purchased (Affiliate Links)

I actually assumed that I wouldn't use up many products in the month of August, but I managed to finish up 11 full-size products! There wasn't a dud in the bunch, and in many cases I already have replacements ready to go. Here is what I finished this month:

Shu Uemura Anti-Oxi+ Skin Refining Cleansing Oil: Formulated for all types of skin, Anti-Oxi Skin Refining Cleansing Oil is a lightweight oil that boasts an antioxidant-rich formula– which includes potent ingredients such as Moringa Oil and Green Tea Extract. This beautifully aromatic cleansing oil, which is punctuated by lavender, cardamom and geranium, is neither overpowering, nor cloying, and I find it quite calming and pleasant. When water is introduced, this cleansing oil transforms into a milky emulsion that gently removes every trace of dirt and makeup without ever stripping the skin. Skin is left soft, smooth, supple, hydrated, refreshed and thoroughly cleansed. It washes away clean without any greasiness or residue left behind. Purchase Again? I have a couple more bottles of their cleaning oils to use before I decide. ($15.00-$87.00 for 1.69 oz. to 15.22 oz. from Shu Uemura USA)

Cure Natural Aqua Gel is a very fun exfoliant to use because after you massage it into your skin for a short amount of time it transforms into a rather milky gel that causes dead skin cells to pill on the skin. The next step is to simply rinse the gel and dead skin cells off of your face or body, and you will be delighted by the extent to which your skin is left soft, smooth, supple and luminous. I routinely use it on my hands and feet, and am thrilled by the results. Furthermore, it is fragrance-free, free of harmful chemicals and so satisfying to use! Purchase Again? I just opened a brand-new bottle! ($39.00 for 8.5 oz. from the Cure Amazon Store)

Vichy 3-in-1 Micellar Wipes: I use makeup wipes all of the time, and these micellar wipes are among my very favorites. They gently and effectively remove every trace of makeup, they are gentle enough for sensitive eyes and skin, and they soothe and hydrate rather than irritate and strip the skin. Purchase Again? Most definitely. ($7.99-$8.99 for 25 wipes from VichyWalgreensDermstore and Amazon)
I can't believe that I finished two full-size Erno Laszlo products!
Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing BarSea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar does an exceptional job cleaning and exfoliating my skin, and it does so without drying, stripping or irritating. Skin is left soft, clear and luminous, and while it is now said to be formulated for all skin types, it used to be for normal, combination and oily skin types. I would say that dryer skin types would only use it periodically for its deep cleaning and exfoliating abilities, but not as a daily soap. I do like to use it with a cleansing oil, but sometimes I use it alone. My one grievance is that the bar used to be a hefty 6 oz., which was far more satisfying to use, and now it is nearly half the size. Purchase Again? I just opened another full-size bar, and will replace it once I finish it. ($40.00 for 3.4 oz. from Erno LaszloNordstromSephora and Look Fantastic)
Erno Laszlo Phelityl Night Cream, which is pH-balancing, is formulated to repair, strengthen and hydrate your skin while you sleep. I have several deluxe samples to use before I decide whether I will purchase another jar. ($155.00 for 1.7 oz. from Erno LaszloNordstrom and SkinStore). This was a Limited Edition Jumbo Size.
Molton Brown Tobacco Absolute Bath & Shower Gel is a warm, woodsy, tobacco and leather aromatic fusion that may be considered more masculine, but if you love to wear fragrances like Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, which is one of my very favorite fragrances, then you will delight in this bath and shower gel. It has a deep and complex aroma that is distinguished by its deep Tobacco Absolute essence that is enhances by the leather. There is a slight citrus top note that crisps up the edges, but once this magical potion meets the warm water and steam, it is a warm sexy, smokey tobacco that envelops the senses. I wear Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, and the moment that I first tried this bath and shower gel, I knew that it would be one of my most beloved bath and shower gels. This is not my first bottle of this Molton Brown gem, and it most certainly is not my last! Purchase Again? Oh, yes! I am completely in love with this! ($35.00 for 10 oz. from Molton Brown and Neiman Marcus)

Rituals Express Your Soul Uplifting Shower Foam in Verbena & Petitgrain: This limited edition Foaming Shower Gel has a lovely, uplifting floral citrus aroma from which one detects the the most succulent Verbena. I fell in love with this innovative shower gel formula from the very first moment that I used it. It's an extraordinary take on the ordinary, and for me it makes my bathing experience anything but mundane. The unique gel to foam technology not only makes it immensely fun to use, but it exceeds my every expectation of what a body cleansing gel should do. It cleans beautifully, smells glorious, and leaves the skin lusciously hydrated and soft. Furthermore, the rich dense foamy texture lends itself to being one seriously amazing shaving cream that cleanses, softens, and gives a seriously close shave. My legs have been transformed into the most soft and silky skin imaginable, and this gorgeous product has become my favorite shave cream as well. Purchase Again? In a heartbeat, but the scent seems to have been discontinued!
Spongellé Riviera Collection Body Buffers are brilliant body wash-infused sponges effectively and gently clean and exfoliate the skin, and they also leave the it deliciously baby soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. They really excel in their ability to clean and exfoliate the skin while delighting the senses with their delightful aromas. Spongellé Riviera Collection Body Buffer in Mediterranean Peach Fragrance Notes: Top: Peach Water, Garden Greens, touch of Mint. Middle: Geranium, Basil, Flowering Sage. Base: Vetiver, Crisp Musk. Purchase Again? Eventually, but I actually have quite a few of their body buffers to use up first. ($18.00 each from Spongellé)

Sciabica's Lemongrass Olive Oil Soap: This beautifully aromatic soap boasts a luscious creamy lather, a delectable lemongrass aroma and the gorgeous scent lingers. It thoroughly cleans the skin and leaves it soft and moisturized. I am utterly obsessed with this soap, and if you love lemongrass, then this is a must-have. Purchase Again? It is on my list! ($8.00 from Sciabica California Olive Oil)

Philip B. I just opened another bottle! ($30.00 for 5.07 oz. from Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's)

Derma E Scalp Relief Treatment: This lightweight water-based serum is formulated to balance, hydrate, soothe and nourish a dry and itchy scalp and leave it comfortable and itch-free. Purifying Tea Tree Oil and Menthol gives the scalp a cool tingle while the moisture-rich ingredients offer it much-needed relief. Since I have such confidence in the efficacy of Derma E products, I just knew that this would work, and it did. My itchy and dry scalp returned to its happy pre-drying shampoo state, and thankfully a nourishing shampoo and conditioner gave my hair back its luster. Purchase Again? Currently I am using the René Furterer Astera Fresh Soothing Freshness Serum, and I will have to decide whether I need another scalp treatment serum before I contemplate buying another one. ($15.50 for 1 oz. from Derma E and Ulta)

Overall Assessment: I am quite pleased that I finished up 11 full-size products! What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in August? Any real winners or duds to report?

October 2021 Empties Galore

Purchased and Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

I somehow imagined that I wouldn't finish up quite as many products in October, but thankfully I managed to get through a good number of largely used up products. I have so many open products, and I really wanted to finish them before they started to go bad.

Here is what I finished this month:

Lancôme Crème Mousse Confort Comforting Creamy Foaming Cleanser for Dry Skin ($28.00 for 4.2 oz. from Lancôme, Macy's, Nordstrom, Ulta and Bloomingdale's): This cleanser is very rich, luxuriously creamy and gentle. It effectively melts away makeup and cleans the skin without stripping it. While it is formulated for dry skin, it worked beautifully on my balanced to combination skin. Repurchase? Not any time soon because I have a lot of cleaners to use, but I really loved using this hidden gem.

Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar ($40.00 for 3.4 oz. from Erno LaszloNordstromSephoraViolet Grey, RevolveAmazon and Look Fantastic): Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar does an exceptional job cleaning and exfoliating my skin, and it does so without drying, stripping or irritating. Repurchase? I  just opened another bar.

Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask ($65.00 for 1 oz. from Tata HarperSephoraSpace NKSaks Fifth AvenueCredo BeautyNordstromNeiman MarcusBergdorf GoodmanBloomingdale's and Cult Beauty): I had used numerous sample jars of this before I bought the deluxe size, and I used every last bit because it is that good! This is one of those miraculous masks, in my estimation, that delivers real results for glowing skin. While it contains clay in its list of ingredients, it is not a clay mask, but instead it has a gorgeous fluffy gel texture that dries down in the manner of gel-type masks. It is a beta-hydroxy mask, from White Willow Bark and Pomegranate Enzymes, that is intended for all types of skin, and it gently exfoliates dead skin cells, unclogs congested pores, and it leaves skin luminous and hydrated. I simply apply it to freshly cleansed skin, with the brush provided, and leave it on my skin for 20-30 minutes. There is a light tingling sensation, but it is neither uncomfortable, nor in the least bit irritating. It dries down, but doesn't pull the skin, and it is very easy to wash off unlike some masks that can be difficult to remove. However, unlike many exfoliating masks, that are intended for healthy glowing skin, this one is not drying to the skin. Instead, the inclusion of Beet Root Extract and Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice leaves skin hydrated rather than taut and dry. The end result is very soft, smooth, hydrated and luminous skin, and it is one of my very favorite gentle exfoliating masks. I should note that the mask, and the cleanser, both have an earthy, rather fruity, aroma that is subtle and unobtrusive. Repurchase? ABSOLUTELY!

Rodin Olio Lusso Geranium and Orange Blossom Luxury Face Oil (Estee Lauder closed the entire Rodin Olio Lusso company): This is a lightweight antioxidant-rich, remarkably fast absorbing and ultra nourishing oil. It immediately hydrates even the most parched and dehydrated skin– leaving it baby soft, smooth, supple and seriously luminous. Interestingly, I love the Geranium and Orange Blossom Face Oil far more than the Jasmine/Neroli Face Oil that I used for many years! Its aroma is utterly enchanting. It is the perfect balance between the Geranium and the Orange Blossom, and it is neither too sweet, nor too citrusy. Instead, it is deep, rich and warm it reveals a touch of spice. It is hypnotic, delectable and truly divine. Repurchase? I would in a second if it was still available, and I remain heartbroken that EL shuttered Rodin Olio Lusso.

Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Rose Gold Eye Masks ($25.00 for 6 pairs from Wander Beauty): are absolutely amazing for tired and puffy eyes. They deeply hydrate the delicate under eye area, they brighten the appearance of dark circles and they plump fine lines. Additionally, they are so refreshing and cooling after a long day that I actually can't wait to use them after being stuck in rush hour traffic! If you are a fan of eye masks, then these are sure to delight you. Repurchase? I actually used up two sets this month, and will definitely repurchase once I use up my other eye masks.
Baylis & Harding Oud Wood and Bergamot Luxury Hand Wash ($3.97 for 16.9 oz. from Walmart): Described as, "a dynamic spicy citrus fragrance featuring a vibrant pink pepper, saffron and gingerbread accord over a solar woody base, bringing a unisex touch to a masculine note." This gorgeously aromatic hand soap is sumptuous, luxurious and incredibly affordable. This hand soap thoroughly cleans the skin without ever stripping it, and the aroma delights the senses. Repurchase? Without question!

Tatcha Indigo Soothing Silk Body Butter ($48.00 for 6.8 oz. from Tatcha): This is a profoundly moisturizing treatment cream that offers even the driest skins great relief. It is a rich, fast absorbing and non-greasy body cream that leaves behind the most lusciously supple, soft and deeply moisturized skin imaginable. The anti-inflammatory rich formula soothes redness and skin irritation swiftly, effortlessly and with great efficacy. The subtle warm clean scent is utterly intoxicating, but it fades quickly and will not to interfere with any fragrances that one might wear. Repurchase? YES!

Philip B. Chai Latte Soul & Body Wash (Discontinued): Philip B Chai Latte Soul & Body Wash was described as a,"warming, energizing body wash" that "revives your senses and leaves skin silky and glowing." Its aroma is intoxicatingly delicious, and the warm, sensual scent really does echo the spicy goodness of a high quality Chai Latte. This unisex body wash moisturizes the skin and leaves it velvety soft and smooth. The aromatic and rich lather also works beautifully for shaving legs and underarms, and it truly delights the senses. Repurchase? I wish that I could, and I am so sad that Philip B. no longer makes this!

NatureLab TOKYO Perfect Repair Shampoo ($6.00 for 2.5 oz and $14.00 for 11.5 oz. from UltaNatureLab Tokyo and Amazon): This nourishing shampoo has a satisfying lather, it thoroughly cleans my hair, and yet it isn't stripping. The aroma, which they describe as, "inspired by Japanese bamboo forests with a hint of green tea and cypress" is what I would describe as a refreshing green tea. However, the aroma isn't in the least bit imposing or long-lasting. Repurchase? Definitely.

NatureLab TOKYO Perfect Repair Conditioner ($6.00 for 2.5 oz and $14.00 for 11.5 oz. from UltaNatureLab Tokyo and Amazon): This is a really lovely and nourishing conditioner that left my hair soft, manageable and hydrated. Like its companion shampoo, that shares its fragrance profile, I once again would describe it as a refreshing green tea aroma. Repurchase? Definitely.

Ouidad Curl Recovery Melt-Down Extreme Mask ($44.00 for 6 oz. from Ouidad): I am a huge proponent of deep masking, and advocate doing it often during the cold months of the year. This formula is ultra-conditioning, and leaves hair soft, shiny and manageable after only 10 minutes of use. I like to leave it on for about 20-30 minutes when my hair is feeling particularly dry and unruly, and it does the trick every single time. Repurchase? As soon as I finish up the deep conditioning masks that I have left.

Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Restore + Revive Bi-Phase ($32.00 for 6.8 oz. from Ouidad, Ulta and Macy's): This pretty pink bi-phase treatment, that you need to shake well to incorporate the ingredients, includes a cocktail of antioxidant-rich natural oils that nourish and moisturize the hair. The formula protects hair from free-radical damage while defining curls, fighting frizz and leaving hair shiny, soft and smooth. Furthermore, like the gel, it neither flakes, nor does it become crunchy and unnatural looking. There is a very light clean scent in the bottle, but I detected no fragrance in my hair. Repurchase? It is on my list!

Overall Assessment: I'm so pleased that I managed to finish up so many products this month, and hopefully I can finish up a lot of my open products by the end of the year. I really don't want anything to go bad before I can finish them! What did you use up, toss out, give away or return this month? Any fabulous finds or total duds to report?
