I can barely believe that I finished up 10 full-size products in the month of August, but while the pile looks impressive, I have to state that I nearly finished the deodorant in July, and got less than a full week of use in August. The hair mask, likewise was nearly finished in July, everything else had just enough product left to make it through the end of the month, but nothing in this pile was freshly opened in August and finished in the same month. I throughly enjoyed using everything here, and would happily use all of these products again, but in most cases I won't be replacing them soon because I am swimming in other products that I should, ideally, finish first.

Native Body Wash in Cucumber & Mint: I absolutely LOVE this body wash, and it has earned pride-of-place as my all-time favorite warm weather body wash. It is so refreshing, and the scent is uplifting and invigorating. While the fragrance is described as cucumber and mint, I detect mostly cucumber, but I absolutely love the aroma. It is gentle, and it never strips or dries out my skin. It is quite concentrated, and I just add a tiny bit to a nylon loofah and it produces a bountiful lather that is beautifully aromatic. Purchase Again? I already opened a new bottle!

Trader Joe's Bergamot & Vetiver Scented Hand Soap: This was a limited-time hand soap, and it sold out. What an absolute delight this is, and I really hope that they bring it back. In fact, I went back to buy 3 more bottles before they sold out, and now have one left. This beautiful citrusy floral scent is such a treat to the senses, and rather than drying out my hands, they are left lightly moisturized. The last time that I went to the same Trader Joe's they didn't have any left, but I plan to try again to get a few more bottles before they are gone altogether. I hope that there is enough demand for this lovely liquid hand soap that Trader Joe's considers making it part of their regular collection of hand soaps! A+ Purchase Again? In a heartbeat! Fingers crossed that they bring it back!

LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant in Pure Vanilla: This is a wonderful healthy deodorant formula that is effective, smells delicious and offers long-lasting protection. Made from Pure Madagascar vanilla, creamy tonka bean, and a soft heliotrope blend, this delicious fragrance is a treat to the senses. The Pure Vanilla scent is warm and creamy perfection, and wearing it is a real pleasure.

If you are seeking an antiperspirant, then be advised that this does not prevent sweating. This has been my favorite healthy deodorant for many years now, and I will use it as long as LAVANILA makes it. It applies to the skin effortlessly, without tugging, and it never leaves a residue or stain on the clothes. This is a cruelty-free brand and their deodorants are free of aluminum and parabens. Purchase Again? I already opened another one!

Gotukola Youth Spring Keratin Hair Mask: While I have used  this conditioner as the company recommends, I have found that leaving the mask on longer renders even better results. I have tried a few additional methods of use: 1) leaving it on for several hours, and 2) leaving it on overnight, and in both situations my hair was left indescribably soft, shiny, and with beautifully formed glossy curls. It is a true thing of beauty to see naturally curly hair deeply moisturized and shiny, and trust me it is not an easy thing to achieve. It tames all of my frizz and fly-aways without weighing my hair down in the least bit. It also moisturizes so deeply that my hair is far more compliant when it comes to styling. Anyone who has dry hair will be shocked by the level of moisture that Gotukola Youth Spring Hair Mask delivers to their locks.

I have seen firsthand how this mask impacts non-curly hair, and to say that it creates breathtakingly beautiful and shiny hair is an understatement. The mask itself has a very dense, thick, and rich consistency. It has a very pleasant and comforting scent that I am at a loss to describe. This is undoubtedly luxury niche haircare at its finest, and anyone who with a penchant for hair masks will likely be delighted by this rare gem. Purchase Again? Eventually, but I have too many conditioners to use before I commit to buying more.

[ comfort zone ] Sublime Skin Eye Cream: is seriously an obsession-worthy eye cream. This lovely anti-aging eye cream, which is made in Italy by the Davines Skincare Division, is a nourishing and peptide-filled cream that is formulated to reduce puffiness, to soften the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and to offer the skin serious and sustained moisture. It is a very emollient, and yet lightweight and fast-absorbing, cream that melts into the skin without leaving behind a greasy residue. I also noticed that it leaves my skin decidedly luminous and smooth. Additionally, there is no added fragrance, and no detectable scent, and therefore it should pose no problem for people with sensitive eyes, like me. Purchase Again? Not in the near future because I have too many open jars and bottles of eye cream to use first, but I love this eye cream!

Vichy Mineral 89 Eyes Hyaluronic Acid Eye Gel: This lightweight eye gel, which is ultra hydrating courtesy of the Hyaluronic Acid, is very nourishing and fast absorbing. It is suitable for all types of skin, including very sensitive skin, and it addresses dryness and dehydration while lifting fine lines and brightening and smoothing the skin. Furthermore, the gel formula is very refreshing, and it contains no irritating fragrance that can cause sensitive eyes to water and sting. Purchase Again? I would happily use this again and again, but need to finish some of my open eye products first!

Sisley Paris Eye Contour Mask: If you are seeking an effective mask that reduces the appearance of under eye puffiness, dark circles and fine lines– then this ultra-luxe mask needs to be on your radar. I have used this luxury treat for many years, and it is definitely my secret weapon for those days when I wake up with puffiness because I am exhausted and didn't get nearly enough sleep.  It is a smoothing mask, that is suitable for all types of skin, and it is specifically formulated to reduce puffiness, lighten dark circles and soften the appearance of fine lines.

On me, I have noted that it deeply hydrates the skin, efficiently smooths and plumps fine lines, reduces the appearance of puffiness and has lightened my dark circles associated with a poor night of sleep. The richly hydrating gel-based formula feels refreshing and lightly cooling, and immediately nourishes and moisturizes the skin leaving it soft, smooth, supple, lifted and dewy.

The recommendation is to apply a thick layer and to leave it on for about 10 minutes, and then gently tissue it off. However, I prefer to apply a moderate layer and leave it on for about 20 minutes instead. The results are impressive, and it is such a pleasure to use. I should remind you that I have sensitive eyes, and that this gentle formula does not irritate them or cause them to water. There is a very light aroma, presumably from the ingredients rather than an added fragrance, that is barely detectable. Purchase Again? I would be elated to use this again, but I am swimming in eye products right now now and can't justify the purchase– especially since it would be a splurge.

Bloomeffects Tulip Dew Cream: is a very emollient lightweight and fast absorbing gel-cream that instantly moisturizes the skin, and leaves it soft, radiant, dewy and comfortable. It delivers immediate hydration and the pleasant aroma is natural and light.

Bloomeffects uses their proprietary Dutch Tulip Complex and a nourishing multivitamin complex– consisting of Vitamins B3, Vitamin B5, C and E– that helps protect skin against environmental damage, and it leaves skin with a dewy glow as the name suggests. This wondrous cream is formulated for normal to dry skin, and it effectively addresses dryness, dullness, uneven skin tone– along with softening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by plumping the skin. Bloomeffects is a cruelty-free brand. Purchase Again? Not in the near future because of the number of open jars of face creams in my current rotation, but this is such a lovely cream.

Live Botanical Sanctuary Barrier Balm: This luscious balm has a remarkably emollient light whipped fluffy texture that immediately melts into the skin. It contains a wonderful array of Amazonian butters such as: Murmuru, Tucuma, Ucuuba and Bacuri, that are rich, nourishing and healing anti-inflammatory ingredients. This balm deeply hydrates the skin, it helps to prevent water-loss, it protects, softens, repairs and moisturizes even the most sensitive skins. It contains no essential oils, and has no detectable aroma. This wondrous balm can also we used as an overnight mask, and it is miraculous in its ability to heal and rejuvenate the skin. Purchase Again? I have too many skin balms open, and can't justify purchasing another one, but this would be at the top of my list, if I was ready to purchase another one!

Siam Seas Reservoir Probiotic Skin Fortifying Beauty Mist: This delectably aromatic mist was created to hydrate the skin as well as to help maintain hydration. It can be used alone when additional hydration is desired, or as a delivery vehicle that helps balms and oils sink into the skin more deeply. It is formulated in a base of Linden & Roman Chamomile Hydrosols that calm irritated, red skin effectively and efficiently. The aroma is informed by sweet flowers, citrus, a touch of mint and a woodsy undercurrent that is calming, soothing and utterly hypnotic. Purchase Again? YES!

Overall Assessment: It was deeply satisfying recycling these containers at the end of August, and I loved using each of these products. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in August? Do you have any great product discoveries, or over-hyped disappointments to share?

I managed to finish up 7 products in the month of July, and almost finished up one of my bar shampoos that will end up being finished in the first few days of August. All but three products were full size and the remaining three were deluxe travel sizes. I would happily use everything again, and thoroughly enjoyed each one of them. Here is what I thought of each thing I finished in July:

Curél Deep Moisture Spray ($15.00 for 5.4 oz. from the Curél Amazon Store): This is one of my very favorite moisturizers for the warmer months, and I have been using it for more than a year, and plan to use it as long as they make it! It is just perfect for the warm/hot weather, and I use it daily. This ultra-fine moisture mist can be used on the face and body and it sinks in immediately leaving skin nourished and hydrated. It is fragrance-free, easy to use and effective. It is especially satisfying on a hot day to refresh the skin with a spritz here and there. Additionally, because it is so light and hydrating it doesn't feel heavy on the skin. It does not, however, contain a sunscreen, so you will need to add your sunscreen after you apply this spray.

I keep mine in the shower, and use it there as well. I spray it on lightly towel dried skin, and then let it sink in before getting dressed. It offers wonderful hydration and it is just so easy to use. Purchase Again? Oh yes, most definitely! 

[ comfort zone ] SUBLIME SKIN Cream ($161.00 for 2.13 oz. from [comfort zone], Nordstrom and Amazon): This is yet another product, made in Italy by the Davines Skincare Division, about which I am deliriously happy. This nourishing cream, which is very emollient and hydrating, is lightweight, fast-absorbing and it leaves behind no oily residue. The texture is velvety smooth and creamy, and the experience feels luxurious and indulgent when massaged into the skin. Formulated for normal to dry skin, it offers deep hydration, because this is a Hyaluronic Acid-based cream, and therefore it plumps fine lines and leaves skin more firm in appearance. Skin is left indescribably baby soft, supple, smooth in texture and luminous. It has a faint aroma, which might be described as an herbal/floral scent, but it is neither long-lasting, nor is it in the least bit cloying. Purchase Again? I won't need to buy another face cream for quite some time, but this is definitely one that I would happily use again!

The A Method Pearls of Retinol (The A Method® Pearls of Retinol - 0.5% - $104.00 & 1% - $124.00 from The A Method. The A Method® Skin Perfecting Serum - $100 from The A Method. The A Method is also sold in their Amazon Store): This retinol comes in two strengths, a milder 0.5% concentration of All-Trans Retinol and the stronger 1% concentration. If you are new to Retinol, I recommend the 0.5% concentration, and work your way up to the 1%. The golden micro-encapsulated "pearls"– which are All-Trans Retinol– are suspended in a wonderfully hydrating solution that contains Hyaluronic Acid and nourishing extracts that kept my finicky skin from drying out and visibly peeling. It is a lightweight and fast absorbing serum that immediately leaves skin hydrated. The formula helps skin cell turnover and collagen production without irritating the skin. This formula softens the appearance of fine lines, reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation and brightens the skin. 

It is important to use a high SPF sunscreen when using retinol-based products, and it is imperative to have your skin looked at by your family physician or dermatologist to make sure that the spots and irregularities that you want to treat are neither pre-cancerous, nor cancerous lesions. I have my skin fully evaluated during my yearly physicals, and I usually bring my doctor the list of ingredients of products that I am considering before I use them. I am not a medical doctor, and I consult with mine regularly to make sure that I am not doing something potentially dangerous to my skin. Purchase Again? I just opened the 1% strength since the one I just finished was the 0.5% strength.

R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo ($18.00 for 1.6 oz and $37.00 for 6.3 oz. from R+Co, Amazon, Nordstrom, bluemercury and Dermstore): This is a wonderful volumizing dry shampoo that adds body between the times that you shampoo the hair. Purchase Again? I love the quality of this dry shampoo so much that I will definitely buy the full size next time I run out of my current full size dry shampoo.

Herbatint Royal Conditioner ($16.99 for their Permanent Haircolor Gel from iHerb, Herbatint, Amazon and Walmart): I recently discovered the Italian haircare company that makes what has become my very favorite hair dye. It is healthier than most permanent hair dyes and is far more forgiving on my scalp than most of the drugstore brands of hair color. I plan to review the Herbatint Permanent Haircolor Gel soon, but for now I want to state for the record that the Herbatint Royal Conditioner, that they include in their box of hair dye, is utterly covet-worthy. This lightweight conditioner, that you use immediately after coloring your hair, makes freshly colored hair soft, moisturized, smooth and shiny! Purchase Again? Without question! 

Trader Joe's Oatmeal Exfoliant Bar in Almond Ginger ($3.99 for 8.8oz from Trader Joe's) This is a seriously worthy purchase the next time that you shop at Trader Joe's. This French milled soap has little oatmeal exfoliating particles that gently lift dead skin and the luxurious lather releases the delectable almond ginger aroma. It cleans skin beautifully, and at $3.99 (8.8 oz. bar) it is a perfect budget-friendly pick for washing the hands and body. Purchase Again? Yes, on my next trip to Trader Joe's!

LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant in Berry Vanilla ($12.00 for 2 oz. LAVANILA, Amazon, Target): While the Berry Vanilla scent is no longer available, there are many scents from which to choose. This is a wonderful healthy deodorant formula that is effective, smells delicious and offers long-lasting protection. Available in a nice range of scents, their scrumptious smelling Healthy Deodorants offer odor protection all day long, and the healthy ingredients condition the skin. If you are seeking an antiperspirant, then be advised that this does not prevent sweating. This has been my favorite healthy deodorant for many years now, and I will use it as long as LAVANILA makes it. It applies to the skin effortlessly, without tugging, and it never leaves a residue or stain on the clothes. This is a cruelty-free brand and their deodorants are free of aluminum and parabens. It appears that they no longer make this particular scent, but their Pure Vanilla scent is actually my favorite– it is warm and creamy perfection, and I absolutely love it! Purchase Again? Without question!

Overall Assessment: I really love everything that I used up this month and would happily use all of these products again! What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in July? Any serious holy grail discoveries or over-hyped duds to report?

During the month of August I managed to finish 8 products, and I am already missing some of those products! There is not a single product that I would not happily use again and again. Here is what I used, and what I thought about each product.

Renpure Tea Tree & Mint Purifying Body Wash ($6.16 for 24 oz. from Walmart): This is yet another big hit from Renpure! This ultra-refreshing body wash awakens the senses while it thoroughly cleans the skin. It has a satisfying creamy lather that effectively cleans the skin without stripping it or leaving a residue. In fact, it moisturizes the skin and leaves it soft, smooth and supple. Purchase Again? Without question!

Spongellé Botanica Citrus Aurantium Petigrain Body Wash Infused Buffer ($18.00 for 3.5 oz. from Spongellé): Spongellé Botanica Collection comes in four lovely scent profiles, and they are shaped like butterflies! These sponges not only effectively remove dead skin cells, but they also leave the skin deliciously baby soft, smooth, supple and moisturized.  Body wash infused body buffers are such a treat to use, and the Spongellé Body Wash Infused Buffers really excel in their ability to clean and exfoliate the skin while delighting the senses with their delightful aromas. Petitgrain Botanica Body Buffer (Yellow) has the following fragrance notes: Top: Lemon, sparkling water, grapefruit. Middle: Mandarin, navel orange, cassis. Bottom: Musk, sea salt. Purchase Again? Oh yes, I love this uplifting scent!

Curél Foaming Face Wash ($15.00 for 5 oz. from the Curél Amazon Store): Curél Foaming Facial Wash is one of my favorite discoveries from this affordable and effective Japanese skincare brand. I was particularly interested to see whether this foaming and moisturizing cleanser, which is made for dry and sensitive skin, would be a good match for my normal/combination skin. I am a fan of hydrating cleansers that are gentle enough for sensitive skin, but I like them to rinse clean without leaving behind any sort of residue that requires a second cleanse (when they would be used last in a double cleansing routine). This cleanser exceeded my expectations. It has a wonderful and dense foam that thoroughly cleans the skin without stripping it in the least bit, and it rinses clean without any sort of residue. It is fragrance-free (and unscented) and it leaves my skin silky-smooth and hydrated without feeling as though I need to wash my skin again to feel clean. It is gentle, a pleasure to use, and it feels like a great match for my normal/combination skin. Purchase Again? Just as soon as I need another cleanser!

[ comfort zone ] SACRED NATURE Youth Serum ($81.00 for 1 oz. from [ comfort zone ], Nordstrom and Amazon): is yet another reason that I have fallen head-over-heels in love with this magnificent Italian brand. This antioxidant-rich serum, which helps to fight free-radical damage, plumps fine lines while it delivers intense moisture to the skin. Formulated for all skin types, it leaves skin very soft, smooth, supple and unmistakably luminous. It melts into the skin immediately and leaves behind no residue whatsoever. It has a light fruity/herbal aroma, that is informed by its ingredients, but it does fade quickly. It is an ultra-luxe serum that is very effective and a joy to use. Purchase Again? Yes, but not for quite a while since I need to use up quite a few serums before purchasing another one.

Lovinah Dragon-C Vitamin C and Bio-Retinol Brightening Elixir ($155.00 for 1 oz. from LOVINAH, Boxwalla and Macy's): This antioxidant-rich Vitamin C based facial oil is my current favorite luxury face oil, and for me that is a significant claim– given my longstanding love of luxury face oils. This brightening elixir, which is composed in a base of Dragon Fruit Oil, also includes Kakadu Plum Oil, Goji Berry Oil, Lingonberry Oil, Raspberry Oil , Mongongo Nut Oil, Mongongon Nut Oil– to name a few of its nourishing oils.

Unlike many Vitamin C based products that quickly oxidize, Lovinah Dragon-C Vitamin C and Bio-Retinol Brightening Elixir contains a very stable form of Vitamin C, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, selected because it is a highly absorptive form of oil-soluble Vitamin C. Furthermore, Kakadu Plum, Dragon Fruit and Goji Berry were selected since they are very rich in Vitamin C. 

The texture of this oil is like crushed velvet, and the scent has a heavenly natural fruity sensibility that defies description. This otherworldly oil, which is lightweight and fast-absorbing, melts into the skin and leaves it soft, smooth, moisturized, brightened and glowing. I can't recall ever being quite this impressed by, or obsessed with, a face oil. This is truly covet-worthy. Purchase Again? This is one of the best face oils that I have used in years, and I will definitely buy another bottle.

Annmarie Anti-Aging Facial Oil ($149.00 for 30ml. from their Official Amazing Store): is a seriously gorgeous luxury face oil. While this glorious face oil is formulated for dry and mature skin, it is one of the finest and most effective oils to have graced my normal to combination skin. This ultra-luxe antioxidant-rich facial oil, which is velvety-to-the-touch, is infused with herbs and a symphony of more than 13 nourishing oils. Ingredients such as chia, goji berry, and broccoli firm and tighten the skin, and therefore soften the appearance of fine lines. Deeply moisturizing, this beautiful oil is lightweight and it effortlessly melts into the skin. It is neither greasy, nor does it leave behind any residue. I prefer to apply it to moist and warm freshly washed skin, and it immediately leaves my skin soft, smooth, supple and luminous.  It is quite concentrated, and therefore I find the a single pump offers plenty of oil to cover my face, neck and décolleté, but your use may vary. It has the most hypnotic herbal aroma, but is not long-lasting or overpowering. Purchase Again? I love this face oil, and there is definitely another bottle in my future!

milk_shake curl passion leave-in spray for curly hair ($25.00 for 10.1 oz. from milk_shake and their Amazon Store): is a product that I have been using for more than a year, and it is so incredible that I can't imagine not using it. I have naturally curly hair, and it can be unruly at times, and therefore a reliable and effective leave-in spray is essential to keep my hair in great shape. It fights frizz, hydrates and leaves hair manageable. It doesn't weigh hair down, it doesn't flake, but instead it nourishes and it facilitates bouncy and perfected soft-to-the-touch curls. I always use leave-in treatments to make my hair manageable, and this one is definitely obsession-worthy. It also has a delectable fruity aroma that smells like summertime captured in a bottle! Purchase Again? I already have another bottle!

SHU UEMURA Ultimate Remedy Extreme Restoration Treatment for Ultra-Damaged Hair ($73.00 for 6 oz. from Sephora and SHU UEMURA Art of Hair): If you seek a rich, ultra-moisturizing deep conditioning hair mask, then this mask will prove to be a real treat for your damaged tresses. Its rich and dense buttery texture is emollient and nourishing, but it leaves behind no greasy residue. It transforms my dry, color-treated naturally curly hair into soft, supple, manageable and shiny locks. Furthermore, it tames fly-aways and frizz, and the delectable fruity-floral aroma is the ultimate treat to the senses. Purchase Again? I just opened a new jar of another shu uemura hair mask!

Overall Assessment: Such great products, and not a dud in the bunch! What did you use up, toss out, give away or return to sender in August? Any serious winners? Any over-hyped misses?

It does not sting, tingle or burn my skin in the least bit, and after use skin is left soft, smooth and glowing. This exfoliant softens the appearance of fine lines, reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation and brightens the skin. Furthermore, it exfoliates dead skin cells without leaving my skin dry, tight, peeling or uncomfortable.

[ comfort zone ] SACRED NATURE Cleansing Balm has got to be the best kept secret to the world of cleansing balms. This sacred balm, made in Italy by the Davines Skincare Division, has an oil-gel texture that transforms into a milky emulsion when introduced to water. You simply use the wooden spatula to remove a tiny amount of balm from the glass jar and then massage it into your skin and neck. After a minute, or so, add water to your fingers to emulsify the balm and then rinse with water, or remove it with a warm, wet towel. If you tend to double cleanse, then you can simply rinse your skin once and then use your second cleanser. This balm, which is Certified Organic, has such a gorgeous and satisfying texture, and it is fragrance-free. 

It effectively removes makeup, including eye makeup, and the organic buriti oil works wonders in its ability to break down and remove makeup. I have not tested it against waterproof mascaras, because I tend not to wear them, but it has removed my eyeliners and eyeshadows with ease. I try not to get it into my eyes since it is oily and milky and it can cloud your vision until it washes away, but it doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes. After cleansing, my skin is left feeling very comfortable, and never dry or irritated. Instead, it is left soft, smooth and supple and hydrated.

[ comfort zone ] SACRED NATURE Hydra Cream is one of my recent favorite moisturizers, made in Italy by the Davines Skincare Division, and I am so happy to be able to extol its many virtues. While this face cream is formulated for dry skin, this antioxidant-rich power-broker is perfect for my balanced to combination skin (but mostly balanced), and it is the perfect cream to transition into the fall and winter seasons. It is lightweight, incredibly emollient and it melts into the skin in the most luxurious and satisfying way. It is very concentrated, and therefore I only use a tiny amount, and it leaves my skin incredibly soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. Furthermore, it lightly plumps fine lines and gives skin a dewy glow without any hint of a residue left behind. It has a delectable light fruity herbal aroma that is informed by its natural ingredients, not added fragrance. It just makes my skin look and feel incredible, and I have to say that [ comfort zone ] really knows how to make very effective skincare that one savors. I slow down my skincare routine and enjoy every step of the process because their products feel and smell amazing, and they are safe and highly effective.

This nourishing cream, which is very emollient and hydrating, is lightweight, fast-absorbing and it leaves behind no oily residue. The texture is velvety smooth and creamy, and the experience feels luxurious and indulgent when massaged into the skin. Formulated for normal to dry skin, it offers deep hydration, because this is a Hyaluronic Acid-based cream, and therefore it plumps fine lines and leaves skin more firm in appearance. Skin is left indescribably baby soft, supple, smooth in texture and luminous. It pairs perfectly with the [ comfort zone ] Sublime Skin Intensive Serum (Reviewed HERE), day and night, or it can be used on its own. It has a faint aroma, which might be described as an herbal/floral scent, but it is neither long-lasting, nor is it in the least bit cloying.
