Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream is without question one of the best face creams that I have ever used, and therefore it was one of the best creams to grace my face in 2022. There are many more bottles of this miraculous cream in my future!

HOW I TESTED IT:

I exclusively tested Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream for more than a month, and I was very pleased with my results. Professor Bader suggests using his cream for 27+ days since that is the amount of time it takes for a full cycle of skin cell turnover. Therefore, for optimal results one should initially test this cream alone and avoid all other products except for your daily cleanser, and obviously your sunscreen. That is precisely what I did, and it was definitely worth following his advice.

As previously noted, this product has received a lot of hype since it launched, but I was honestly more interested in trying it after reading about the creator of this line. Augustinus Bader is a physician and biomedical scientist who created his products after more than 30 years of research and innovation in his field. He tracked the results  in test subjects over a 27 day period, and HERE are his results.

Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream is a very rich and emollient cream that is deceptively thin in texture, and yet its richness becomes evident as you massage it into the skin. The texture is heavier than expected, but it melts into the skin in such a satisfying and luxurious way. You can really feel the richness imparted by the presence of the nourishing Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, and Shea Butter. Therefore, it is no surprise that it is aptly called The Rich Cream, and that it was formulated for normal to dry skin, more mature skin and for skin subjected to colder and drier climates. My normal/combination skin would dictate that I should have tried Augustinus Bader's The Cream, rather than The Rich Cream, but my penchant for face oils made me more interested in the ingredients used in the latter, rather than the former. 

I was also very interested to learn more about his proprietary TFC8®, or Trigger Factor Complex, which is describes as "an exclusive patented technology comprised of over 40 ingredients and inspired by over 30 years of research, innovation and clinical study."

TFC8® Claims:

I used this ultra-nourishing cream twice a day and I found it intensely moisturizing, without being in the least bit greasy. My skin had a pronounced clarity, and it was vibrant, luminous, soft and supple after about a week of use. I noted that going through the full month of use, to coincide with a full skin cell turnover cycle, was a very wise choice. My skin had the same freshness and clarity that I experience when I regularly exfoliate my skin, but without exfoliating a single time in that 30+ day trial period, and that is quite remarkable to me. I also noted that my little spot of hyperpigmentation had faded considerably and my fine lines were noticeably softened.

Overall Assessment: There is no question that this is a very hyped product, and brand, but this is one seriously impressive and effective luxury face cream. If you have normal to dry skin, then The Rich Cream is the right choice for you. If you have combination to oily skin, then it will likely be far too rich for you, and you would want to try The Cream, instead. It is definitely worth trying to get a sample, or purchasing the smallest size to try, or you could do what I did and wait for a Sephora sale since this is such a luxury splurge.

[ comfort zone ] SACRED NATURE Hydra Cream is one of my recent favorite moisturizers, made in Italy by the Davines Skincare Division, and I am so happy to be able to extol its many virtues. While this face cream is formulated for dry skin, this antioxidant-rich power-broker is perfect for my balanced to combination skin (but mostly balanced), and it is the perfect cream to transition into the fall and winter seasons. It is lightweight, incredibly emollient and it melts into the skin in the most luxurious and satisfying way. It is very concentrated, and therefore I only use a tiny amount, and it leaves my skin incredibly soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. Furthermore, it lightly plumps fine lines and gives skin a dewy glow without any hint of a residue left behind. It has a delectable light fruity herbal aroma that is informed by its natural ingredients, not added fragrance. It just makes my skin look and feel incredible, and I have to say that [ comfort zone ] really knows how to make very effective skincare that one savors. I slow down my skincare routine and enjoy every step of the process because their products feel and smell amazing, and they are safe and highly effective.

This is an ultra-luxe face cream, with a price tag to match, but I am elated by the results and by the way it makes my skin look and feel. If you have normal to dry skin, then The Rich Cream is the right choice for you. If you have combination to oily skin, then it will likely be far too rich for you. It is definitely worth trying to get a sample, or purchasing the smallest size to try, or you could do what I did and wait for a Sephora sale since this is such a luxury splurge. I guess the biggest question is whether I like it enough to repurchase it again, or to try more Augustinus Bader products, and the answer is yes to both. However, I will definitely wait for another Sephora sale since this cream is so expensive.

Cold weather really wreaks havoc on the skin, and it tends to dry it out and it also further irritates dry and dehydrated skin. Therefore, to treat red, dry and irritated skin, it is worth using high quality nourishing, hydrating and moisturizing skincare. Erno Laszlo Phormula 3-9 Repair Balm is a great product to use when you have irritated skin. If you have a break out, a sunburn, or red and irritated skin that requires something gentle, nourishing and healing, then this mighty balm really helps. It makes this a perfect choice post-peel and post-exfoliation for that very reason. I recently had a bad allergic reaction to a product that I was testing, and it left an irritated patch of skin on my face that was dry, red and peeling, and nothing seemed to help it heal. 

Thankfully, I already had this balm, and while I had little hope that it would help, I decided to try it anyway. Much to my surprise the flaking, peeling, itching, redness and irritation went away after a couple of days of use. It is very concentrated, and only requires a tiny, tiny bit. It is very easy to overdo it and use far more balm than necessary, and therefore I start out with very little and add more as needed. Not only is it calming, but it is also incredibly hydrating and it leaves the skin very soft, smooth and supple. It is definitely a luxury product with a luxury price tag, but it is so concentrated that it will last a very long time. It contains no fragrance, Phthalates, Parabens, Sulfates, Mineral Oil, Urea, or colorants.

Overall Assessment: If you have irritated skin, or want an effective balm for the times that you do, then this is a wonderful choice. I sometimes use it at night because it does such an effective job of hydrating and soothing my skin, and I definitely see a big difference when I wake up the following day. It really is remarkable post-peel and post exfoliation, as well!
