/skin regimen/ ginger cleansing oil review

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

/skin regimen/ ginger cleansing oil is made in Italy by the Davines Skincare Division, and thus I had very high expectations for this product. I love Davines haircare products, and I have used for many years– therefore, I was delighted when I first learned that they had a skincare line.

This cleansing oil is extraordinarily lovely from its texture, to its smell, to its unmistakable efficacy. It is a mid-weight oil, with a gorgeous light ginger aroma, that feels like velvet on the skin. I apply it to dry skin and I massage it for about a minute before I wet my hands and continue to massage it into the skin. As soon as the oil is introduced to the water it turns into a creamy white emulsion. It lifts impurities, dirt and  makeup with tremendous efficacy and it leaves skin soft, smooth and hydrated. You can use it alone, or as the first step in your double cleansing routine. I love to double cleanse, most of the time, and when I do I simply use my cleanser after I emulsify this cleansing oil. This is the embodiment of the perfect cleansing oil, in my humble opinion.
According to /skin regimen/,

A gentle cleansing oil that is particularly suitable for undernourished skin. The soothing oils also help relax the face muscles and counteracts the effects of stress. Its full-bodied texture is rich in skin-compatible oils that help remove makeup, SPF, and pollution. It leaves the skin pleasantly soft and lightly scented with subtle notes of ginger. For All skin types.

Directions: Massage a small amount of product onto the face. Moisten your hands with warm water and continue to massage with circular movements, then rinse with warm water.

KEY INGREDIENTS:

Ginger Essential Oil: obtained by steam distillation, preserving the characteristic olfactory notes of the fresh root. It is known for its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic action, supports microcirculation and helps relieve muscle tension. The antioxidant action protects the skin from the action of free radicals responsible for aging. Its aroma is also a tonic for the mood, promoting energy and positivity.

Sweet Almond, Jojoba and Macadamia Oils: rich in emollients and nourishing fatty acids. These oils deeply hydrate even the driest skin. These oils restore softness, elasticity and strengthen the skin barrier.

THEIR MISSION: "To be the best for the world, creators of good life for all, through beauty, ethics and sustainability."

Overall Assessment: This is such a lovely and effective cleansing oil, and it is a true pleasure to use. A+

Erno Laszlo Phormula 3-9 Repair Balm Review

Purchased (Affiliate Links)

Erno Laszlo Phormula 3-9 Repair Balm is a great product to use when you have irritated skin. If you have a break out, a sunburn, or red and irritated skin that requires something gentle, nourishing and healing, then this mighty balm really helps. It makes this a perfect choice post-peel and post-exfoliation for that very reason. I recently had a bad allergic reaction to a product that I was testing, and it left an irritated patch of skin on my face that was dry, red and peeling, and nothing seemed to help it heal.

Thankfully, I already had this balm, and while I had little hope that it would help, I decided to try it anyway. Much to my surprise the flaking, peeling, itching, redness and irritation went away after a couple of days of use. It is very concentrated, and only requires a tiny, tiny bit. It is very easy to overdo it and use far more balm than necessary, and therefore I start out with very little and add more as needed. Not only is it calming, but it is also incredibly hydrating and it leaves the skin very soft, smooth and supple. It is definitely a luxury product with a luxury price tag, but it is so concentrated that it will last a very long time. It contains no fragrance, Phthalates, Parabens, Sulfates, Mineral Oil, Urea, or colorants.

According to Erno Laszlo,

A nourishing, soothing balm to rescue sunburned, irritated or scar-prone skin and minor nicks and wounds or blemishes on the mend.

A nourishing blend of botanical oils, plant and marine bio-actives creates a protective healing barrier at the surface as it absorbs deeply to heal damage and hydrate skin. As moisture and oxygen levels are increased, cell renewal and repair are stimulated thanks to a cushioning mix of complexion-smoothing ingredients. Tamanu oil, a traditional Indonesian therapy for skin, speeds healing while soothing inflammation and irritation; dromiceius oil, also prized in ancient healing traditions, deeply replenishes moisture while stimulating cell renewal; and marine extracts (called glycosaminoglycans) help skin retain vital moisture via their powerful water-attracting abilities, leaving your complexion smoother, suppler and more youthful.

Directions: Use after toning and serums or following your moisturizer. Dab on skin and massage into face and neck. Can also be used on other troubled areas of skin throughout the body. Formulated for all skin types.
Ingredients: Water (Aqua/Eau), Petrolatum, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dromiceius Oil (Emu Oil), Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Sorbitol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cera Microcristallina (Microcrystalline Wax/Cire Microcristalline), Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Dimethicone, Panthenyl Ethyl Ether, PEG-40 Castor Oil, Polysorbate 60, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Taraktogenos Kurzii Seed Oil, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Brassica Campestris/Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer, Calophyllum Tacamahaca Seed Oil, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Allantoin, Polysorbate 20, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Glycosaminoglycans, Saccharomyces Lysate Extract. Formulated without: Phthalates, Parabens, Sulfates, Mineral Oil, Urea, Colorants and Fragrance.
Overall Assessment: If you have irritated skin, or want an effective balm for the times that you do, then this is a wonderful choice. I sometimes use it at night because it does such an effective job of hydrating and soothing my skin, and I definitely see a big difference when I wake up the following day. It really is remarkable post-peel and post exfoliation, as well!

BEST SKINCARE REPURCHASES OF 2019

Repurchased (Affiliate Links)

Given that I have a huge collection of skincare products, it is far that I need to replace products since there s always something to replace my empties. However, there are a few products that I love so much that I feel compelled to replace them rather than going without. In 2019, there were only a few products that I loved so much that I replaced them before I even finished them up.

As a huge fan of RODIN Olio Lusso, I was very excited by the prospects of trying the RODIN Olio Lusso Geranium & Orange Blossom Face Oil, and given my penchant for luxury beauty oils, and my unmitigated devotion to RODIN Olio Lusso Jasmine/Neroli Luxury Face Oil (Reviewed HERE) this fetching oil was at the top of my list of must-haves. Interestingly, I love the Geranium and Orange Blossom Face Oil far more than the Jasmine/Neroli Face Oil that I have used for many years! Its aroma is utterly enchanting. It is the perfect balance between the Geranium and the Orange Blossom, and it is neither too sweet, nor too citrusy. Instead, it is deep, rich and warm it reveals a touch of spice. It is hypnotic, delectable and truly divine.

RODIN Olio Lusso Geranium & Orange Blossom Face Oil ($170.00 for 1 oz. and $89.00 for .50 oz. from Nordstrom, Sephora, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Credo Beauty, Revolve and Saks Fifth Avenue): is a lightweight antioxidant-rich, remarkably fast absorbing and ultra nourishing oil. It immediately hydrates even the most parched and dehydrated skin– leaving it baby soft, smooth, supple and seriously luminous. I have noted that it banished a couple of dry patches that I had on my chin, and it has softened the appearance of my light expression lines. It is effective for all types of skin, and has been an extraordinary treat for my normal/combination skin.
According to Rodin Olio Lusso,

When skin’s lost its zest, massage in the energizing powers of this exotic blend to encourage microcirculation and rev up radiance. Not a morning person? You can still look like one. Traveling? Look fresh even when you’ve lost track of the time zone.

Microcirculation is key. That’s why this blend focuses on fatigue-fighters and radiance-makers. Massage in, and see the difference. Credit goes to South African Geranium & Moroccan Orange Blossom and Moroccan Jojoba Oil.

Every RODIN formula has a power base of 9 powerhouse oils. All are pure and natural, not synthetic. This core works to keep skin smooth, supple, glowing. Omegas build a skin-strengthening moisture barrier. Vitamins A,E and C to help skin shrug off the effects of modern life.

Southwest Asia Sweet Almond Oil, Moroccan Argon Oil and Himalayan Apricot Seed Oil are the big three in this RODIN quality core. A shared wealth of antioxidants and fatty acids to improve skin’s appearance, pronto.

If skin is looking a bit oily or feeling congested, Geranium’s natural properties might just clear things up.

Ingredients: Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Rosa Canina Seed Extract, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Flower Extract, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Flower Oil, Calendula Officinalis Flower Oil, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Linalool, Citronellol, Geraniol, Farnesol, Limonene, Citral, Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate.

May Lindstrom, the eponymously named line of its creator, is a healthy skincare collection that uses sustainably sourced certified organic, wild harvested, biodynamic and vegan ingredients of the highest quality. May, a former model known as the "skin chef," lovingly makes each batch by hand, and is among the short list visionaries to create ultra luxurious natural skincare products. More of a magician, or alchemist, May has an innate understanding of the raw materials and is able to commingle disparate elements to create harmonious blends that ignite the senses and nourish the skin.

May Lindstrom is a line that inspires a profound engagement with the ritual associated with the finest quality skincare products that boast otherworldly textures, heavenly aromas, and astonishing results. Stress melts away as one yields oneself to the undeniable experiential aspect of this magical line, and one cannot help but savor every moment of this glorious process.
If you have long sought a magical unicorn of a beauty product, and one that could end the hunt for a holy grail beauty balm, then say hello to May Lindstrom The Blue Cocoon Beauty Balm Concentrate ($180.00 for 1.69 oz. from Net-A-Porter, Space NK, goop, Follain, Neiman Marcus, Beautylish, The Detox Market, Citrine Natural Beauty Bar and Shen Beauty): Aptly named, one immediately wants to be completely enveloped by this wondrous melting balm. While this balm evokes the color of the Adriatic Sea, this glistening gem melts into an irresistible oil serum upon being greeted by the warmth of the skin.

This delectable anti-inflammatory multipurpose balm deeply nourished and hydrates the skin, eradicates redness and skin irritations and makes skin soft, supple, balanced, healed and luminous.

I cannot sufficiently underscore the extent to which this is a truly special skincare treat. This magical balm is unlike anything else that I have tried, and not only does it nourish and treat the skin, but it also creates the most heavenly sensory experience. I begin by slowly and deeply inhaling its aroma directly from the jar, and then I remove a tiny amount from the jar and warm it between my fingers before massaging it into my freshly cleansed and damp face, neck and décolleté. The botanical aroma is a warm and earthy amalgam of its ingredients from which slight traces of Vanilla Planifolia and Lavender emerge. The scent essentially defies a lucid description because it has an otherworldly aroma, and is unlike anything else that I have experienced.
Once this balm, which boasts the efficacy of the finest serums and beauty oils, sinks into the skin one immediately notices that their skin becomes ultra-hydrated, soft, supple and nourished. Furthermore, this ultra-luxe balm immediately calms sensitive skin that is reactive and easily irritated. It soothes and treats inflammation of all sorts, and is a wonderful choice for rosacea, eczema and acne-prone skin. The Blue Cocoon Beauty Balm Concentrate is also a great post-treatment, post-peel and post exfoliation product choice since its potent anti-inflammatory ingredients boast an efficacy that is seldom found in a single product.

This potent, antioxidant-rich balm is also the perfect choice if you seek ultra-effective anti-aging skincare products that are healthy and effective. It should also be mentioned that this multipurpose healing and nourishing balm can be used to spot treat irritated skin, and that it works extraordinarily well as an eye cream and lip balm.  Additionally, if you have dry skin, or dry patches you will be astonished by the speed with which these conditions will be reversed.
According to May Lindstrom,

Our balmy blue enchantress greets your skin with cool serenity, melting on touch to a fluid potion that tenderly envelopes you in the most decadent azule calm.

Mystical blue tansy eases feelings of emotional anxiety while releasing heat and providing nourishment and relief to delicate, inflamed and irritable skin conditions.

Massage a pea sized amount into wet immediately following cleansing. Boss: Work beautifully as an eye and lip treatment.

The Blue Cocoon Beauty Balm Concentrate activates the senses, elevates the mood and transforms the skin. It is, indeed, a magical unicorn that is filled with healthy, potent actives that together perform miracles for the skin and the spirit.

Among my favorite TATCHA gems is the entire Indigo Collection. TATCHA Soothing Silk Body Butter is ($48.00 for 6.8 oz. Available from TATCHA and Violet Grey): is a tremendously moisturizing treatment cream that offers even the driest skins great relief.
TATCHA'S Indigo Soothing Silk Body Butter is a rich, fast absorbing and non-greasy body cream that leaves behind the most lusciously supple, soft and deeply moisturized skin imaginable. The anti-inflammatory-rich formula soothes redness and skin irritation swiftly, effortlessly and with great efficacy. The subtle warm clean scent is utterly intoxicating, but it fades quickly and will not to interfere with any fragrances that one might wear.
According to TATCHA,

Rich in anti-inflammatory Indigo, liquid Silk and Squalane, TATCHA's INDIGO Soothing Silk Body Butter softens and soothes irritated skin.

The stems, leaves and petals of the Indigo plant are steeped in water and fermented to make a concentrated botanical extract. Charlotte Tilbury Superstar Lips Lipstick in Pillow Talk Diamonds | Review

Purchased (Affiliate Links)

Charlotte Tilbury Superstar Lips Lipstick in Pillow Talk Diamonds, which Charlotte Tilbury describes as a, "sheer rose-pink lipstick with a dreamy veil of golden sparkle" is a stunning sheer pink with a festive metallic finish punctuated by shimmering glitter particles. This sheer-leaning lipstick can be worn alone, or layered over Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Matte Revolution, or your favorite lipstick in this color family. I also like to wear it over a lipstick, but only applyied to the center of my lips for a pop of luminosity. It has a gorgeous diamond-like nearly frosted finish that is on the verge of being duo-chrome. If you are seeking wonderfully bejeweled lips, that are neither garish, nor too glittery, then this beauty is a perfect pick for the holidays. I have read some reviews that suggest the glitter flakes and migrates, and the glitter can migrate if it is applied in multiple passes, but I tend to wear it in a single pass. The texture is smooth and feels good on the lips, rather than feeling chunky and drying. It is a small tube, weighing in at 0.06 oz., and therefore if you use it regularly it won't last very long, but I am happy with my purchase and have really enjoyed wearing this pretty lipstick.  This product is vegan and cruelty-free.
According to Charlotte Tilbury,

Charlotte’s universally-loved, award-winning, best-selling Pillow Talk lipstick is now adorned with diamonds! It’s the secret to lips that dazzle and delight as they play with the light!

Pillow Talk Diamonds leaves a wash of sheer pink, sparkling golden, Pillow Talk magic in its path! Adorn your lips in a diamond-like, glittering finish that POPS, for the most glamourous, bejewelled lips of your life.

Layer it over Pillow Talk Matte Revolution to give your favourite shade a shimmering, diamond-like top coat, apply it with Pillow Talk Lip Cheat for a color-rich finish or wear alone for a shimmering veil of sparkle!

This new dimension of Pillow Talk is the secret to other-worldly, celestial lips that enchant, hypnotise and cast a spell over everyone you meet!

Mineral-based Glitter Pigments capture and reflect the light for a multi-dimensional, glistening pout! An environmentally-friendly alternative to plastic glitter!

Sunflower Seed Oil and Hops Extract nourish and condition for a soft, kissable finish!
Microcrystalline Wax adds stretch, bounce and a super soft, pillow-y feeling to your lips!
Directions: Wear alone or as a shimmering top coat for a kiss of Pillow Talk shine! Apply Lip Cheat Pillow Talk first for added pink color.
Note the luminosity and subtlety when applied with a light hand.
Ingredients: Octyldodecanol, Polybutene, Synthetic Wax, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Triisodecyl Trimellitate, Vp/Hexadecene Copolymer, Vp/Eicosene Copolymer, Hydrogenated Microcrystalline Wax, Dicalcium Phosphate, Stearalkonium Bentonite, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Sucrose Acetate Isobutyrate, Propylene Carbonate, Ethyl Vanillin, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Sed Oil, Aroma (Flavor), Humulus Lupulus Extract/ Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Silica, Bht, Tin Oxide, Limonene, Citral, [+/- Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Carmine (Ci 75470)].
Overall Assessment: You will note from the stock photo above that this is a seriously luminous lipstick with a metallic finish, and if that doesn't appeal to you, then you shouldn't bother buying this. However, if you are looking for a gorgeous festive lipstick, then this is definitely worth trying.

SHU UEMURA CLEANSING OILS FOR RADIANT SUMMER SKIN

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

I am a proponent of double cleansing, with a cleansing oil as the first step, and while I don't do it every time that I wash my face throughout the year, I do it daily during the warm months of summer. The added step cleans the skin thoroughly and gently, and never strips it or leaves it dried out. Shu Uemura makes some of my all-time favorite cleansing oils, and in fact they have 7 different varieties from which to choose. They are housed in elegant thick plastic bottles which makes them perfect to use in the shower, and in fact I keep one in my shower at all times without the concern that it will shatter.
Each of the Shu Uemura Cleansing Oils is formulated to address specific targeted concerns and types of skin, but all of them transform into a lovely milky emulsion when they come in contact with water, and they do an exceptional job removing dirt, impurities and makeup. While I have normal to combination skin, I have found that I am able to use all of these oils without exception. However, since each one is quite different, it is worth assessing the needs of your skin before selecting the cleansing oil or cleansing oils that will best suit your skin.
Shu Uemura Anti-Oxi+ Skin Refining Cleansing Oil ($14.00-$83.00 for 1.69 oz. to 15.22 oz. from Shu Uemura USA and $17.00-$94.00 from Shu Uemura Canada): Formulated for all types of skin, Anti-Oxi Skin Refining Cleansing Oil is a lightweight oil that boasts an antioxidant-rich formula– which includes potent ingredients such as Moringa Oil and Green Tea Extract. This beautifully aromatic cleansing oil, which is punctuated by lavender, cardamom and geranium, is neither overpowering, nor cloying, and I find it quite calming and pleasant. When water is introduced, this cleansing oil transforms into a milky emulsion that gently removes every trace of dirt and makeup without ever stripping the skin. Skin is left soft, smooth, supple, hydrated, refreshed and thoroughly cleansed. It washes away clean without any greasiness or residue left behind.

According to Shu Uemura,

Anti/Oxi is a cleansing oil with enhanced power to remove micro impurities and stubborn make-up with no residue. shu uemura’s latest anti-pollution breakthrough, Anti/Oxi with moringa and green tea extracts are combined for a more powerful removability. Anti/Oxi is balanced to provide a sensation that is refreshing and relaxing by awakening your senses at first touch with a top note of elemi, mandarin and ginger. During massaging, a stimulating and comforting middle note of lavender, cardamom and geranium invigorates your senses. After washing, you sense a healing base note of guaiac wood. An extraordinary cleansing experience that brings intoxicating fresh and relaxing scents to everyday cleansing rituals and restores dull yellow skin to a refined, supple and radiant complexion.
Shu Uemura Blanc:Chroma Cleansing Oil ($15.00-$83.00 for 1.69 oz. to 15.22 oz. from Shu Uemura USA and $17.00-$94.00 from Shu Uemura Canada): This lightweight cleansing oil is formulated to brighten uneven skin tones by gently polishing the skin to reveal a brighter complexion that is more even in tone. As a result, it helps to fade discoloration, dark circles, hyperpigmentation, and it calms redness. While formulated for uneven skin tones, I find that it has an overall brightening and evening effect, and therefore will appeal to a wider range of skin types. It has a light and pleasant fruity floral aroma that is neither overpowering, nor cloying. When water is introduced, this cleansing oil also transforms into a milky emulsion that gently removes every trace of dirt and makeup without ever stripping the skin. Skin is left soft, smooth, supple, hydrated, brightened and thoroughly cleansed. It washes away clean without any greasiness or residue left behind.

According to Shu Uemura,

Moving beyond stubborn makeup removal, blanc:chroma brightening & polishing gentle cleansing oil effectively polishes away accumulated melano-stains for brighter and more transparent skin, leading to a beautiful makeup finish. Fights against 4 chroma imperfections (uneven redness, yellow dullness, brown dark spots, greenish dark circles) for luminous, transparent skin. Ultimate removal system dissolves and lifts away makeup and impurities in a flash. New exclusive technology Clay EX: A combination of purifying Clay Extract and polishing Lipo HA lightens the skin tone by thoroughly removing accumulated melano-stains (dead cells containing melanin on the skin surface that cause uneven and dull skin tone)
Shu Uemura Nutri Nectar Cleansing Oil in Emulsion ($41.00-$83.00 for 5.07oz. and 15.22 oz. from Shu Uemura USA and $47.00-$94.00 from Shu Uemura Canada): A few years ago, when Shu Uemura celebrated their 50th anniversary of cleansing oils, they launched this very unique cleansing oil that is formulated to nourish delicate, sensitive skin. Antioxidant-rich Acai calms sensitive skin, while Magnolia and Reishi Mushrooms are utilized to restore and make skin more resilient. Rather than their traditional cleansing oil consistency, this delectable cleansing oil boasts a thick gel texture that magically liquifies and transforms into a milky emulsion when water is introduced. It boasts extreme efficacy in its ability to break down makeup, in part because the gel texture is so easy to use, and it lends itself to the speedy and effective removal of eye makeup. It gently removes every trace of dirt, pollution and makeup without ever stripping the skin. Skin is left soft, smooth, supple, hydrated, calmed and thoroughly cleansed. It has a beautiful, light floral aroma that is calming and peaceful to the senses. I love this oil and just finished up a bottle, and plan to get another one ASAP!

According to Shu Uemura,

To celebrate our 50th anniversary of cleansing oils, nutri:nectar has been created for nourishing cleansing oil for delicate skin. Composed with essential oils, this healing fragrance comforts skin as if taking a deep breath in the forest. Together, calming Acai, replenishing Magnolia and Reishi Mushroom for its resilience restorability, lies at the heart of the nutri:nectar formula. This extravagantly nourishing fusion is carefully composed to reboot skin barrier function while resisting the environmental stress. This cleansing oil in emulsion created with the power of nature help even dry delicate skin feels conditioned & strengthened.
Shu Uemura High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil ($36.00-$71.00 5.07 oz. and 15.22 oz. from Shu Uemura USA and $40.00-$80.00 from Shu Uemura Canada): This lovely cleansing oil evolved from the original Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil, and this variant was specifically formulated to effectively and gently remove waterproof makeup from sensitive skin. It has a light to mid-weight consistency that transforms into a milky emulsion when water is introduced. It gently removes every trace of dirt, pollution and makeup without ever stripping the skin. Skin is left soft, smooth, supple, balanced and hydrated. I don't wear a lot of waterproof makeup, but when I wear waterproof mascara it does an enviable job breaking it down and removing it. It has a light, clean aroma that is pleasant and refreshing.

According to Shu Uemura,

Evolved from the original shu uemura cleansing oil, "Classic" is reformulated with an advanced High Performance Cleansing Oil system for significantly improved removability of waterproof make-up. A medium-weight cleansing oil that leaves skin feeling clean, balanced and moisturized.
Shu Uemura Porefinist Anti-Shine Fresh Cleansing Oil ($12.00-$75.00 for 1.69 oz. and 15.22 oz. from Shu Uemura USA and $15.00-$86.00 from Shu Uemura Canada): This feather-weight cleansing oil, with its delectable light floral aroma, is specifically formulated to address the needs of acne-prone/oily skin. While it deep cleans the skin, it does so exceedingly gently and without any stripping or drying. It thoroughly removes dirt and excess oils from the pores, and makeup and dirt from the surface of the skin, and it leaves skin soft, smooth and supple. When water is introduced, this cleansing oil transforms into a milky emulsion that leaves behind no oily residue whatsoever. If you have normal to dry skin, you may find this cleansing oil a bit too clarifying for your skin to use on a daily basis, and while I have normal/combination skin, I only tend to use it a few times a week, or as needed.

According to Shu Uemura,

An incredibly lightweight cleansing oil that leaves the skin clean, fresh and refined. Ideal for normal to oily skin types and acne-prone skin. With the expertise in cleansing oil for half a century, our beloved fresh formula is powerfully reborn to target the source of oily concerns. The water-like cleansing oil goes beyond make-up removal to dissolve and wash away excess sebum and blackheads that are stuck inside pores. No pulled or parched feeling after cleansing. The new formula, with cinnamon bark extract, regulates sebum secretion day after day. Shine is blotted and open pores appear shrunken. Blackheads are removed to reveal a refined, smooth skin.
Shu Uemura Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil ($14.00-$96.00 for 1.69 oz to 15.22 oz. Shu Uemura USA and $49.00-$99.00 from Shu Uemura Canada): This ultra-luxe rich and emollient cleansing oil has a luscious lightweight consistency that leaves skin soft, smooth, supple and luxuriously hydrated. While it can be used by all skin types, I suspect that it will be coveted by people with normal to dry skin. When water is introduced, this cleansing oil also transforms into a rich and creamy milky emulsion that gently removes every trace of dirt and makeup without ever stripping the skin, and it leaves skin velvety soft and smooth without leaving behind a greasy residue. It has a warm and creamy aroma that I find intoxicatingly delicious.

According to Shu Uemura,

Siam Seas Sai Clear Skin Serum (Full Size: Retail value $65.00 for .68 oz.): This antioxidant-rich serum features a stable form of Vitamin C in conjunction with potent actives that are formulated to create a "second skin-like protective layer" that firms and brightens the skin.  It is lightweight, has a lovely earthy aroma, and it dries down to a natural matte finish. It effectively calms redness, brightens dark spots, hydrates skin and leaves it soft, smooth and supple.

According to Boxwalla,

This serum is a vitamin C serum that combines many ancient South East Asian botanicals with more modern actives like ceramides, MSM and a stable ester of vitamin C. This serum is hydrating with barrier protecting properties. You will find that it may have a slight graininess owing to the presence of gypsum which contributes to the wonderful ''smoothing' properties of this serum.

To test & evaluate this serum, Supadra (founder & formulator of Siam Seas), recommends using just a mist/essence under a couple of pumps of this serum. I have also found that doing that, gives you the best idea of how this serum works and then you can figure out if you need to layer more skincare over it (usually a cream or oil  and/or balm). For oilier skin types and in warmer climates, you may not need anything over this.

Directions:
1. You can mist and then apply 2-3 pumps of Sai. It will tighten on the face, like it's forming a 'second-skin' layer. It dries down really matte and your skin will feel very smooth to touch. But visually, it still will look glowy. You can repeat this step again, if your skin tends to be dry (Mist and apply Sai, let it dry, then Mist and apply Sai again). This will allow you to study the effects of this serum on your skin (it is really great at reducing scars as well).

2. After the testing phase, you can start layering this under an oil, balm/cream, if your skin needs more emollient products. When doing that, you don't have to wait until Sai dries down (so that the oil can be applied to damp skin). It is recommended to always apply Sai on damp skin. An example layering routine would be : Mist, Sai, 1-3 drops of oil, seal in with a dab of cream or balm.

Sai Clearing Serum Ingredients: Oryza sativa(rice) water*, Ascorbyl phosphate, Methylsulfonylmethane, Gluconolactone, Senna tora (cassia tora) water*, Terminalia chebula (chebulic myrobalan) extract*, Unsulfured gypsum fibrosum, Vigna aconitifolia (moth bean) extract, Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP, Ceramide EOP, Phytosphingosine, Cholesterol, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Carbomer, Aloe Barbadensis (aloe vera) juice*, Curcuma longa (turmeric) hydrosol*, Acacia concinna (sompoi) water*, Ocimum gratissimum (basil) extract*, Camellia sinensis (green tea) extract*, Glycerin, Aqua, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium anisate, Silybum Marianum (milk thirtle) fruit extract*, Psoralea corylifolia (babchi) extract*, Boswellia serrate(frankincense) extract*, Gardenia jasminoides (cape jasmine) extract*, Coptis chinensis (coptis) extract*, Phellodendron amurense (amur cork tree) extract*, Scutellaria baicalensis (Skullcap) extract*, Berberis (barberry) extract*, Plumbago zeylanica (chitrak) extract**, Angelica Dahurica (wild angelica) extract*, Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) extract*, Paeonia lactiflora (peony) extract*, Azadirachta indica (siamese neem) extract*, Centratherum Anthelminticum (kali jiri) seeds extract**, Andrographis paniculata (king of bitters) extract**, Usnea Barbata (beard lichen) extract*, Baptisia australis (indigo) extract*, Rhus chinensis (galla chinensis) extract*, Myristica fragrans (nutmeg) extract*, Piper nigrum (black pepper) extract*, Hemidesmus indicus (indian sarsaparilla) extract*, Terminalia arjuna (arjuna) extract*, Withania somnifera (ashwagandha) extract*, Rheum palmatum (rhubarb) extract*, Eclipta prostrate (false daisy) extract*, Garcinia mangostana (mangosteen) extract*, Rubus occidentalis (black raspberry) oil,  Populus tremuloides (aspen) bark extract*, Raspberryketone Glucoside, Terminalia bellirica (beleric) extract*, Phyllanthus emblica (amla) extract*,  Cupressus cashmeriana (weeping cypress) oil*, Rosa centifolia (rose moroc) absolute oil*,  Xanthan Gum, Lecithin, Sclerotinum Gum , Pullulan, Vanilla planifolia (vanilla) CO2*, Cananga odorata (ylang ylang extra) oil* *Organic /biologique, **Wildcrafted/naturel
Siam Seas Kwam Rak Body Serum (Full Size. Retail value $90.00 for 3.4 oz.): This is an absolutely delectable hybrid body serum that deeply hydrates and moisturizes the body with the efficacy of a rich body lotion and an emollient body oil combined. It has a remarkably lightweight texture that is creamy, emollient and it melts into the skin in the most satisfying way. Skin is left soft, smooth, supple, radiant and silky to the touch. The complex aroma transforms from a spicy earthy scent to a more complex floral punctuated by Jasmine Sambac.

According to Boxwalla,

Kwam Rak is a very unique body serum made in a base of aloe (aloe juice and aloe inner fillet gel). It also contains a high percentage of raw, mustard seed oil. Since this serum has a built in aloe delivery system and cream lotion-y texture, unlike other oils, you don't have to apply on damp skin. It still absorbs beautifully when applied on dry skin. But you can apply on damp skin for more spreadability. It feels like a light watery serum going on, but with an after-feel of an oil/balm.

The scent of Kwam Rak is very unusual.  It starts of with a spicy earthy scent of mustard oil. As you smell the mustard oil, you will also simultaneously, feel the cooling effect of the mustard oil on the skin. Mustard oil (which is also used to cook with in Thailand and parts of India), is used both in Ayurveda and Thai Massage for its ability to boost circulation and thereby reduce cellulite. After a good 15-20 mins, the mustard oil scent dissipates and gives way to the softer floral scent of frangipani/plumeria and jasmine sambac which is what will linger on your skin.

Kwam Rak Body Serum Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis (aloe vera) juice*, Brassica nigra (mustard seed) oil*,  Helianthus (sunflower) oil, Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) inner fillet gel*, Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP, Ceramide EOP, Phytosphingosine, Cholesterol, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Carbomer, Punica granatum (pomegranate) extract*, Polyglyceryl-2 Sesquioleate (vegetable derived), Glycerin, Aqua, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium anisate, Nelumbo nucifera (pink lotus) extract*, Camellia sinensis (green tea) extract*, Terminalia chebula (chebulic myrobalan) extract*,  Curcumin longa (turmeric) extract*, Ginkgo biloba (gingko) extract*, Zingiber officinale (ginger) extract*, Withania somnifera (ashwagandha) extract*, Morinda citrifolia (noni) extract*, Rosa spp (rosehips) extract*, Sodium PCA, Vegetable glycerin, Plumeria (frangipani) oil*, Populus tremuloides (aspen) bark extract*, Piper longum (long pepper) extract*, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Anisate, Hyaluronic acid, Jasminum sambac (Jasmine sambac) oil*, Myristica fragrans (nutmeg) oil*, Xanthan Gum, Lecithin, Sclerotium Gum, Pullulan. *Organic /biologique, **Wildcrafted/naturel

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Luxury Palette and Cheek to Chic Swatches

Affiliate Links

One of the most hyped recent makeup releases (and re-releases) is undoubtedly the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Collection, and while I have (and love) her iconic Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk (Reviewed HERE), which is a beautiful nude pink, I needed to see the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Luxury Palette and Cheek to Chic in person to determine if they were too warm and too peach for my cool-toned skin. The description and pictures on the Charlotte Tilbury website   described the eyeshadow palette as "golden pink shades" and the Cheek to Chic as a "two-tone pink and champagne powder blush"– both of which sounded absolutely perfect for me, but I was concerned that they would pull far-too warm on me, and sadly they do. If they had been a bit cooler and if they had pulled a bit more pink, then I would have purchased both, but instead they were warm and muddy against my cool-toned complexion.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Luxury Palette and Cheek to Chic both boast ultra-finely milled luxurious textures, beautiful pigmentation and they are very easy to blend. The eyeshadows and blush are very warm peachy shades that are absolutely gorgeous, and they are perfect elegant neutrals for people with fair to medium warm-toned complexions. If you have cooler-toned skin, you might want to swatch them on your skin to see if they are too warm for you, as they are for me. I wish that I could wear these colors, but sadly they are just too warm.
