Dr. Althea Vitamin C Boosting Serum is an effective, and high potency Vitamin C brightening serum, and it effectively brightens the skin and over time reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation. However, if you have very sensitive skin, I would recommend trying the Dr. Althea Gentle Vitamin C Serum instead. It is a very gentle Vitamin Serum that is perfect for people with sensitive skin and for people new to using vitamin C serums.

Dr. Althea Vitamin C Boosting Serum is formulated with Centella Asiatica and 8 types of hyaluronic acid, and this combination of ingredients helps to calm and hydrate the skin. This lightweight gel-based serum melts into the skin without leaving behind an unpleasant residue and it brightens the skin and leaves it soft and supple. Since it does brighten the complexion and it helps to fade hyperpigmentation, it is imperative to use a high SPF sunscreen to protect the skin. I do not use Vitamin C serums when I am using retinol/retinoid serums because it is simply too much for my sometimes finicky skin. As you likely already know, I am a big fan of TIRTIR skincare products because this beautiful Korean beauty brand not only excels in their effective formulas, but also in their affordable price points. They are proof positive that you don't have to pay a fortune for luxurious and effective products, and I have consistently been impressed by their products. My latest discovery from them is the TIRTIR Pure Vitamin C24 Serum, and as someone who loves using Vitamin C serums, I was excited to try this one.

Additionally, it helps to plump fine lines and it leaves skin soft and smooth. I am really impressed by this serum, and have noticed that my small area of hyperpigmentation (from sun damage) is lightening. I do make sure to use a high SPF sunscreen to protect my skin since this serum actively works to fade sun damage, and therefore more sun protection is imperative.

Bee & You is a cruelty-free brand, which is made in Turkey, that harnesses the benefits of raw honey, propolis, royal jelly and bee venom in their products– in an effort to promote healthy skin. I recently discovered this brand, and so far I am very impressed by their skincare products.

In fact, the HA is the first ingredient on the list, and that means that it really offers significant hydration, and therefore you have the efficacy of a Vitamin serum along with the intensive hydration of an HA serum. Skin is left hydrated, fine lines are plumped and skin is visibly brightened. Sometimes I find Vitamin C serums a little drying for my normal/combination skin, but that is not the case here.

GOOD FAITH Brightening Serum + Vitamin C is a wonderful lightweight and fast absorbing hydrating hybrid serum that is lusciously emollient. It leaves skin very soft, silky smooth, hydrated and luminous. It softens and plumps the appearance of fine lines, and noticeably brightens the complexion.

While it is designated as fragrance-free, it does have a delicious light citrus aroma that is tempered by a clean herbal undercurrent, and the aroma is from the ingredients themselves, not added fragrance. It is formulated for all types of skin and it is vegan and cruelty-free.

Typology Radiance Serum 11% Vitamin C is a very potent Vitamin C serum that helps to fade hyperpigmentation and it transforms dull and listless skin into radiant and glowing skin. The high concentration of Vitamin C, at 11%, makes this serum quite effective. This lightweight serum has a gel texture that melts into the skin and it leaves behind no residue. It has no scent, and therefore will not offend sensitive noses. My skin can be sensitive at times, and this serum wasn't in the least bit irritating. If you have dull skin or hyperpigmentation, then this cruelty-free serum is definitely worthy of your consideration.

Directions: Apply 3 to 4 drops to clean, dry skin each morning and evening. Gently massage into face and neck using circular motions. Then, follow with your moisturizer. For optimal results, we recommend using the vitamin C serum consistently for at least four weeks.

An active-rich serum to restore radiance to dull and tired skin. Lack of sleep, stress and smoking are known to trigger harmful free radicals, which oxidize the skin cells and create a dull complexion. The high concentration of vitamin C in this serum effectively combats this process.

THE ACTIVES:

Vitamin C (11%): This molecule is highly-prized for its ability to restore radiance, reduce pigmentation spots, and slow down photoaging. Vitamin C also helps stimulate the production of keratinocytes, which are cells present in the epidermis that protect the skin and reinforce its elasticity. Albizia Julibrissin Extract (3%): Also known as the silk tree, this native Asian plant boasts delicate fan-shaped pink flowers. Glycation is a natural chemical reaction of sugar molecules attaching themselves to the proteins of the dermis. These proteins are then more sensitive to oxidation (glycoxidation) which results in more free radicals, and more fine lines around the eyes. While the phenomenon of glycation is inevitable in any living organism, it can be slowed down by a balanced, less sugary diet and good skincare.

It effectively softens the appearance of fine lines, radically brightens the skin and offers serious hydration. It does have a light aroma from the Eucalyptus and Rosemary, and I thought that it would irritate my sensitive eyes, but it actually doesn't.

The A Method Amazing Peel ($59.00 from The A Method): This peel is formulated to remove dead skin cells, brighten the skin, even out skin texture, lighten hyperpigmentation, soften the appearance of fine lines and enlarged pores, and heal blemishes. Follow the instructions to the letter, and be aware that this peel does cause the skin to tingle, tighten, flake and then peel. The entire metamorphosis takes about four days, and the end result is amazing luminous skin with pronounced clarity. However, with powerful peels, I tend to spot test them on my hand or on a tiny area of skin because I want to know if I will have a negative reaction before doing it on my entire face. My skin can be quite sensitive, and I have learned this trick the hard way. You also do not want to do a peel on any suspicious looking spots or moles, and therefore it is a wise idea to see your doctor or dermatologist before doing a peel of any sort. I always have my skin checked out by my doctor before I treat my skin with powerful peels or exfoliants because if one has an underlying issue, such as precancerous or cancerous lesions etc., then applying powerful topicals can be a very dangerous thing to do. When in doubt, always check with your doctor first, that is what I do, and I cannot stress this point enough!

According to The A Method,

NEW! Your AT HOME solution to developing younger, healthier, radiant skin! Improves the look of: Hyperpigmentation, Uneven Skin Texture and Tone, Enlarged Follicle and Pore Size, Blemish-Prone Skin, Fine Lines and Wrinkles.

Directions:

AM:

1. Wash face with tepid water using CLEANSE. Pat face dry with a soft towel.

2. Once face has dried, apply the TCA PEEL using roller ball applicator to ensure sterile application. Be sure to saturate the skin and focus on areas of concern like dark spots and areas of uneven texture and tone. Expect to feel a slight tingling sensation as the TCA absorbs into the skin. If you start to experience FROSTING in any particular area this simply means your skin is saturated. It’s important to note you DO NOT NEED to reach the point of frosting to achieve results.

3. WAIT until the tingling sensation has subsided BEFORE reapplying to areas of concern, if needed.

4. Your skin will appear flushed and tight once the TCA PEEL has fully absorbed.

5. If you have leftover product, you can apply to the neck, décolleté and the tops of your hands, if desired.

6. LET PEEL SIT FOR TWO HOURS MINIMUM before participating in any activities for maximum effectiveness.

7. After the two hours have passed, feel free to re-wash your face with CLEANSE and moisturize with SOOTHE.

8. IMPORTANT! If you plan on going outside, apply a layer of PROTECT SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen to protect against sun damage.

PM:

1. Wash face with with tepid water using CLEANSE. Pat face dry with a soft towel.

2. Once face has dried, apply a light layer of TCA RETEXTURIZING CREAM to boost the effects of the peel while you sleep.

3. Once TCA RETEXTURING CREAM has dried, moisturize with SOOTHE.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

1. Expect your skin to be tight, dry and flaky by day 2 and to start seeing your skin peel by day 3-4. Areas where you can expect the most peeling is around the mouth area (smile lines) and chin. Moisturize with SOOTHE as needed.

2. Expect areas of pigmentation concerns to “worsen” before they get better - perfectly normal. Pigmentation has to come up and out of the skin in order to flake off.

3. Expect skin to feel tight and to see results within 14 days after using the AMAZING PEEL KIT.

4. Repeat the AMAZING Peel treatment monthly for ongoing clinical results.

Overall Assessment: This is definitely a wonderful brand discovery for me, and I can hardly wait to try more products from The A Method.
