Skin Essentials BRIGHTEN + SMOOTH Encapsulated Vitamin C Serum with Hyaluronic Acid Review

Press Sample (Unaffiliated Links)

Skin Essentials BRIGHTEN + SMOOTH Serum with Encapsulated Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid is a very nice Vitamin C-based serum that brilliantly includes Hyaluronic Acid among its ingredients. In fact, the HA is the first ingredient on the list, and that means that it really offers significant hydration, and therefore you have the efficacy of a Vitamin serum along with the intensive hydration of an HA serum. Skin is left hydrated, fine lines are plumped and skin is visibly brightened. Sometimes I find Vitamin C serums a little drying for my normal/combination skin, but that is not the case here.

According to Skin Essentials,

Stimulate collagen and elastin and protect against environmental damage with this award winning, stabilized vitamin c serum. Encapsulated technology delivers the purest concentration of vitamin c directly to the skin. Instantly hydrates and smooths out fine lines and wrinkles with the powerful effects of hyaluronic acid.

About this serum:

  • Revitalizes and brightens complexion
  • Helps plump and smooth fine lines
  • Protects against environmental damage
  • Increases collagen and elastin production
  • Supports capillaries/ decreases redness
  • Non-oxidizing encapsulated technology

Directions: Apply 4-6 drops to cleansed skin. Wait 1-2 minutes for serum to absorb completely. Follow with moisturizer and sunscreen.

Ingredients: Hyaluronic Acid/Sodium Hyaluronate, Stabilized Vitamin C, Orange Peel Essential Oil , Aloe Vera Gel, Bergamot Oil, Pullulan, Ho Wood Essential Oil, Levulinic Acid/Sodium Levulinate, Eucalyptus Essential Oil, Red Cedar Leaf Essential Oil.

Overall Assessment: Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid is such a winning combination of ingredients. I am very impressed by the efficacy of this serum.

Vichy Summer Skin Saviors

Press Sample and Purchased (Affiliate Links)

I have rounded up three of my all-time favorite, and most coveted, Vichy products that I have used for years, and that I have been using all summer long. They are the perfect skin saviors for this hot weather!

I am a huge fan of thermal water sprays, and Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water is sourced directly from French volcanoes. This soothing and refreshing spray feels amazing against the skin, and I often spritz it on right after I apply my favorite beauty oil to help speed up absorption, and because it allows me to use less oil. This can be used any time of the day, but I do like to spritz my face before going to bed for a little extra hydration. However, in the warm and hot weather, I keep this in the refrigerator and use it whenever I need to cool down and feel refreshed, and since the weather has been very hot in LA, I have been reaching for this with great frequency! Furthermore, it can be used to moisten makeup sponges, used to help set makeup.

($10.00 for 5.1 oz. from Vichy, Walgreens and SkinCareRX)

According to Vichy.

Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water enriched with 15 rare minerals. 15 clinical studies have proven the skin health benefits of Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water. Dehydrated and dull skin gives way to comfortable, refreshed and moisturized skin without any greasy residue or stickiness. Furthermore, this fragrance-free moisturizer plumps fine lines, nourishes the skin and leaves skin soft, smooth and supple. Vichy Summer Must-Have Skincare Heroes

    Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

As a lifelong French Pharmacy product fanatic, it took no time at all for me to fall in love with Vichy's fantastic array of products. Here are some of my top picks for the warm months of summer.
    About Vichy,

In 1931, Dr. Haller, a medical director at the thermal treatment center in Vichy, France, discovered the therapeutic virtues of Vichy Thermal Spa Water on skin. Originating more than 2000 years ago in the heart of Auvergne’s volcanoes, this extraordinary water, rich in 15 beneficial minerals and antioxidants, was found to improve skin quality, soothe sensitivity and accelerate the healing of skin wounds.

Convinced that skin health is the true source of beauty, Dr. Haller pioneered the first line of dermocosmetics powered by this mineral-rich water. Today, this very water, known as Vichy Thermal Spa Water, is still sourced from the same location in France, and is at the core of all Vichy skincare formulations.
Vichy Aqualia Thermal Face Serum ($36.00 for 1.01 oz. from Vichy, Amazon, Dermstore, TargetKohl's, Walgreens and Escentual): This remarkably lightweight mineral-rich and thermal water-infused serum, which includes Hyaluronic Acid as among its star ingredients, immediately melts into the skin imparting superior hydration. It is perfect for the warm weather, and it is so light on the skin that it never feels heavy, even in humid weather. It is the perfect pick-me-up for dehydrated skin, and is the perfect summer serum. It has a very faint, clean, aroma– but it is neither long-lasting, nor in the least bit imposing.

    According to Vichy,

Aqualia Thermal Serum provides immediate and long lasting 48-hour dynamic hydration and smoothed fine lines. It helps retain water and reinforces the skin’s moisture barrier function. Skin is moisturized and protected even under temperature variations. It is formulated with 97% natural-origin ingredients including Hyaluronic Acid, plant sugar and Vichy 15 mineral-rich thermal water. Paraben-Free.

    SKIN TYPE: Dry, Combination
    SKIN CONCERN: Dryness

    Ingredients: Aqua • Glycerin •Dimethicone • Peg/Ppg/Polybutylene Glycol-8/5/3 Glycerin • Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil • Dimethiconol • Sodium Hyaluronate • Phenoxyethanol • Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) • Ammonium Polyacryldimethyltauramide • Poloxamer 338 • Disodium Edta • Caprylyl Glycol • Citric Acid • Biosaccharide Gum-1 • Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer • Parfum /Fragrance • Code F.I.L. : C163732/3.
Vichy Aqualia Thermal Rehydrating Rich Cream ($31.00 for 1.69 oz. from Vichy, Amazon, Ulta, Target, Walgreens, Dermstore and Escentual): This is a very rich and moisturizing cream, and yet it melts into the skin without leaving behind a thick or greasy residue. It contains Hyalaronic Acid, for superior hydration, and it leaves skin infinitely moisturized. It softens the appearance of fine lines, but plumping them, and it leaves skin incredibly soft and smooth. While it lists fragrance among its ingredients, I detect no aroma to speak of. While this cream is formulated for normal to dry skin types, it works beautifully for my normal to combination skin. It is a great choice for the warm weather since it really boosts moisture levels.

    According to Vichy,

A replenishing and soothing dry skin moisturizer in a rich, refreshing cream. This paraben-free moisturizer is formulated with 97% Natural Origin Ingredients and provides 48-hour dynamic hydration & smoothed fine lines. For deep comfort and a fresh complexion that lasts.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Rehydrating Water Gel ($31.00 for 1.69 oz. from Vichy, Ulta, Amazon, Target, Dermstore and Kohl's): I am completely obsessed with gel moisturizers, and this one is absolutely phenomenal, in my opinion. It is feather-weight, it sinks into the skin immediately, and I mean immediately, and it leaves behind no residue whatsoever. It includes Hyaluronic Acid for superior hydration, and moisture retention, and it plumps fine lines while drenching the skin in hydration. It has a very faint, clean, aroma, but it fades immediately.
