Many Vitamin C serums are quite potent and strong, and many people with delicate and sensitive skin find them difficult, if not impossible to use. This one, however, really is gentle, and it provides a nice introduction to the benefits of Vitamin C serums. This serum offers hydration that really buffers the Vitamin C, and soothes the skin while the Vitamin C helps to reduce dark spots and uneven skin tone. It is important to use a high SPF sunscreen when using products that fade dark spots so that you do not end up with more hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation. The lightweight serum gel melts into the skin and leaves behind no sort of unpleasant residue, and it has no detectable aroma.

Dr. Althea Pore Refresh Grinding Cleansing Balm is a deep pore cleansing balm that is formulated for all types of skin. It is lightweight, quite emollient and it is free of any detectable aroma. Simply turn the top clockwise (half turn for light makeup and a full turn for heavy makeup), and massage the balm into the skin and then add a little warm water so that it transforms into a milky emulsion. If I am experiencing any pore congestion on my nose or chin, then I massage it for a little longer in those areas to help release what is trapped in my pores. This cleansing balm rinses clean, and you don't have to double cleanse if you prefer not to, but I always double cleanse since that is my preference. It really helps to loosen up sebum and whiteheads when I get them, and even when I don't it deeply cleans my skin without ever stripping it or drying it out.

Dr. Althea Aqua Marine Deep Serum is a hydrating serum, which contains Hyaluronic Acid, that is very effective for dehydrated skin and skin that needs a little extra hydration. I give the bottle a good shake before use, and then massage a small amount of the lightweight serum into my skin and it immediately sinks in and leaves behind no residue. It leaves my skin hydrated, soft, smooth and glowing. I immediately follow with a face oil or moisturizer, but I can definitely see the difference in my hydration levels and retention.

Dr. Althea Pure Grinding Cleansing Balm is an innovative cleansing balm that is housed in a twist-up container that delivers the precise amount of balm that you desire, and without sticking fingers into the jar. Simply twist the top clockwise and you can control the amount that is dispensed. The balm itself is lightweight and super emollient, and it easily removes waterproof makeup and sunscreen. It is quite concentrated, and therefore I only use a tiny amount, and after I massage it into my skin I add a little water to emulsify the balm. I follow up with a cleanser since I am a big proponent of double cleansing, but some might prefer to use this as their only form of cleansing. It has no detectable scent, and it is really a pleasure to use, and I enjoy incorporating it into my cleansing routine.

Anua Rice 70 Glow Milky Toner is a nourishing and hydrating toner that is lightweight and fragrance-free. Filled with ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, it binds and retains hydration. It isn't sticky, leaves no residue, and it really prepares the skin for serums and lotions/creams. It leaves my skin feeling very soft and supple, and it calms irritated skin. Ceramides protect the skin barrier, while Niacimide brightens the skin leaving it luminous. Unlike alcohol-laden toners, that can be drying, this is hydrating and formulated for all types of skin.

Overall Assessment: I am delighted by the modest price tag, and so far this serum is worthy of continued use. If you have sun spots (hyperpigmentation from sun damage), you should consult with your doctor to determine whether those spots are pre-cancerous or cancerous lesions before you add any sort of topical cosmetic treatment to them. I always check with my doctor first, and I don't ever assume that dark spots are nothing to be concerned about.

Anua is a K-Beauty brand that has a wonderful double cleansing system that features the Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil and the ANUA Heartleaf Quercetinol Pore Deep Cleansing Foam. They can be used individually or together for a deeper and more effective cleansing, and the 2-step system helps to remove sebaceous filaments, blackheads, whiteheads and pimples. While this is an excellent system for skin prone to breakouts, it is gentle enough of all types of skin. I find it effective and non-stripping for my normal/combination skin. I am not prone to breakouts, but I do like to remove the sebaceous filaments the do form on my nose.
Double Cleansing Instructions:

Overall Assessment: While I just received this box, and haven't tested any of its products yet, I am really excited to try everything! I have always preferred light-coverage foundations, tinted moisturizers and BB creams over full-coverage foundations– because I like to see my skin through my finishing products, and I definitely prefer a natural finish. Matte foundations don't appeal to me, nor do overly dewy finishes. I prefer a dewy, but natural finish that perfects, rather than conceals, the skin. I really love Erborian's CC Crème (Reviewed HERE), and was therefore very excited to try their Erborian Liquid BB Crème Au Ginseng Cushion Compact & Erborian BB Crème au Ginseng. I only wish that Erborian had a wider range of colors so that more people could enjoy their lovely BB Crèmes. I wear Clair in both formulas, which is a perfect match for my cool-toned skin, and it never oxidizes on my skin.

Skin shows through, but appears more even in tone and perfected, and it leaves behind no greasy residue. It has a light fresh scent that fades after a few minutes. Erborian BB Crème au Ginseng ($39.00 for 1.5 oz. from Erborian, Sephora, Feel Unique, Space NK UK and Soko Glam): This BB Crème is lightweight on the skin, but it offers buildable coverage. Like their cushion BB Crème, this one also glides across the skin effortlessly, deposits color evenly, and it neither emphasizes, nor settles into, fine lines and pores. With a lighter application, skin shows through, and it appears more even in tone and texture. It leaves skin hydrated with a lovely luminescence, though it is described as mattifying, and it does not leave behind any sort of greasy residue.
It definitely creates the coveted my-skin-but-better look, while the buildable coverage allows for the concealment of scars, sun-spots, and other imperfections that one might seek to conceal. It also includes a broad-spectrum SPF 20, but I wear an additional sunscreen since I never wear less than an SPF 30. It also has a light fresh scent that fades after a few minutes. Available in three shades: Clair, Doré and Caramel.

Left to Right: Liquid BB Crème Au Ginseng Cushion Compact in Clair and Doré and BB Crème au Ginseng in Clair and Caramel. Intersting Clair is a bit different in hue between the two BB Crèmes. The cushion variant is slightly warmer, but once applied to my face it isn't at all noticeable.
Overall Assessment: I love the formula and coverage of both of the Erborian BB Crèmes, but wish that they offered a wider range of shades so that many more people could enjoy their lovely formulas.
