Derma E is such an amazing, and affordable cruelty-free brand, that at this point I could barely list all of their products that I have on my love list. A few weeks ago I reviewed and swatched their Derma E Tinted Moisturizing BB Cream SPF 30 in Light, and I had so many requests to swatch their Fair shade that I decided to feature it today.
As previously noted, the Derma E Tinted Moisturizing BB Cream SPF 30 is not a tinted moisturizer, but instead a tinted moisturizing BB cream– thus it is a moisturizing BB cream. This is an important distinction to make because tinted moisturizers and BB creams are not the same thing. The former is often just what it sounds like a lightweight, light coverage skin tint and moisturizer combined. The latter, instead, is more of a multipurpose tinted cream that offers light to medium coverage, a built-in primer, a sunscreen, and in this case a moisturizer as well.
The coverage is lightly buildable, and this one definitely has a slightly thicker consistency, often associated with BB creams, and yet it feels light as a feather on the skin. Once it tried down it has a matte finish, but not of the dry or uncomfortable variety that feels as though it is gripping the skin. It is very concentrated, and therefore a little goes a long way, but you will still need to reapply it, or your sunscreen throughout the day in order to keep your skin protected.
It contains a non-nano physical/mineral sunscreen, Zinc Oxide (20%), with the Sun Protection Factor of 30, but it does not create an unwanted white cast. The antioxidant-rich formula, which fights free-radicals, features ingredients such as Bilberry, Vitamins C and E "to help moisturize the skin"– which they do brilliantly!

Overall Assessment: I am just so happy with this formula, and I am even more happy now because Fair is actually a much better match for my skin tone. If you are fair, then light will likely be too dark for you. If you are somewhere in-between then you might like to mix the two.

Overall Assessment: I really like Derma E Tinted Moisturizing BB Cream SPF 30 a lot, and will be wearing it a lot this summer.
I have always preferred light-coverage foundations, tinted moisturizers and BB creams over full-coverage foundations– because I like to see my skin through my finishing products, and I definitely prefer a natural finish. Matte foundations don't appeal to me, nor do overly dewy finishes. I prefer a dewy, but natural finish that perfects, rather than conceals, the skin. I really love Erborian's CC Crème (Reviewed HERE), and was therefore very excited to try their Erborian Liquid BB Crème Au Ginseng Cushion Compact & Erborian BB Crème au Ginseng. I only wish that Erborian had a wider range of colors so that more people could enjoy their lovely BB Crèmes. I wear Clair in both formulas, which is a perfect match for my cool-toned skin, and it never oxidizes on my skin.
Erborian Liquid BB Crème Au Ginseng Cushion Compact ($48.00 for 0.49 oz. from Erborian and Sephora): This Liquid BB Crème glides across the skin effortlessly, deposits color evenly and it neither settles into, nor emphasizes, pores and fine lines. It feels very light on the skin and the formula is hydrating. It offers light buildable coverage with a natural slightly dewy finish, and it lasts all day on my normal-combination skin. Skin shows through, but appears more even in tone and perfected, and it leaves behind no greasy residue. It has a light fresh scent that fades after a few minutes. Available in two shades: Clair and Doré (both shades swatched below).

Erborian BB Crème au Ginseng ($39.00 for 1.5 oz. from Erborian, Sephora, Feel Unique, Space NK UK and Soko Glam): This BB Crème is lightweight on the skin, but it offers buildable coverage. Like their cushion BB Crème, this one also glides across the skin effortlessly, deposits color evenly, and it neither emphasizes, nor settles into, fine lines and pores. With a lighter application, skin shows through, and it appears more even in tone and texture. It leaves skin hydrated with a lovely luminescence, though it is described as mattifying, and it does not leave behind any sort of greasy residue.
It definitely creates the coveted my-skin-but-better look, while the buildable coverage allows for the concealment of scars, sun-spots, and other imperfections that one might seek to conceal. It also includes a broad-spectrum SPF 20, but I wear an additional sunscreen since I never wear less than an SPF 30. It also has a light fresh scent that fades after a few minutes. Available in three shades: Clair, Doré and Caramel.

Left to Right: Liquid BB Crème Au Ginseng Cushion Compact in Clair and Doré and BB Crème au Ginseng in Clair and Caramel. Intersting Clair is a bit different in hue between the two BB Crèmes. The cushion variant is slightly warmer, but once applied to my face it isn't at all noticeable.
Overall Assessment: I love the formula and coverage of both of the Erborian BB Crèmes, but wish that they offered a wider range of shades so that many more people could enjoy their lovely formulas.
Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water SPF 30 is a lightweight, water-based BB that is a primer, perfecter, hydrator and sunscreen in one. While it can be built up for fuller coverage, its feather-weight consistency lends itself to the perfect light, natural finish. I always prefer the coverage foundations, tinted moisturizers, and BB and CC creams, and therefore this type of formula ranks among my very favorite. While described as a semi-matte finish, I would add that the finish is natural, and creates the widely coveted "my skin, but better" appearance that I always seek in finishing products. The watery consistency spreads across the skin with ease, deposits pigmentation evenly, and it neither emphasizes pores, nor does it settle into expression lines. Skin feels hydrated and balanced, and it creates the appearance of a perfected, but natural looking, complexion.
I shake the bottle very well, and then dispense a drop or two into the palm of my hand, and then dot drops on my face, and then use my fingertips to blend it into my skin. For fuller coverage, Smashbox recommends patting on additional drops.

The shade that I am featuring is Light/Neutral, and while it appears slightly yellow-based and warm on my swatches, I find that it melts right into my skin and blends perfectly. The end result is seamless coverage, and it doesn't appear too warm for my cool-toned skin.
Directions: Shake bottle well. Use dropper to release 1 to 2 drops on the back of your hand and blend into face with fingertips. Pat on for fuller coverage.
Overall Assessment: I love all of the new innovations that have utterly transformed the realm of finishing products, and Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water is just the type of formula that I like to wear. It is so easy to use, and the finish is beautiful and natural. While it can be built-up for medium to full coverage, I prefer using it for the lighter coverage that I usually seek. I also really appreciate that it contains an SPF 30. A+

Stowaway Tinted Lips Gloss in Petal, Rosewood and Honey ($8.00 each for .19 oz. from Stowaway Cosmetics): I have always been a lip gloss girl, but I definitely favor non-sticky glosses that are long-wearing, boast the perfect amount of cushion, and have an enviable glimmering shine. Stowaway Effortless Eyeliner in Spice ($10.00 for .005 from Stowaway Cosmetics): This tiny eyeliner is absolutely the perfect size for carrying in a makeup bag, and it is such a joy to use. Not only does its diminutive size allow for greater control, and a more precise application, but applies effortlessly without any tugging. It glides across the skin with great ease, it deposits color evenly without skipping, and it sets in about 30 seconds– which gives you ample time to work before it sets. I don't have oily eyelids, but once it set it neither migrated, nor did it smudge. Spice is a wonderful brown shade that isn't too red, as are many brown liners, but if you prefer a black liner it is also available in Jet.

Overall Assessment: I love that Stowaway Cosmetics creates products that are small enough to finish up, so gorgeous that you actually want to finish them up, and that are such a pleasure to use. I have no doubt that I will finish every single one of these beauties, and that isn't something that I often do with my makeup. If you have yet to try anything from Stowaway Cosmetics, I highly recommend trying out some of their goodies– you won't regret it!

I have never really been one to use full coverage foundations, and have always naturally gravitated toward lighter coverage foundations, tinted moisturizers and BB creams. I like for my skin to show through, and prefer a natural finish. Therefore, I was very excited to try the new Burt's Bees BB Cream as soon as I learned about its launch, and thought that you would be very interested to learn about this high quality gem that is also very affordable.
Burt's Bees BB Cream with Noni Extract SPF 15 is a lightweight moisturizing BB Cream that offers the coverage of a light to medium coverage foundation or tinted moisturizer, and a natural finish that enhances and perfects the appearance of skin while allowing it to show through. The antioxidant-rich formula provides the skin with wonderful long-lasting hydration while smoothing and evening skin tone. It has a lovely creamy consistency that feels great on the skin, and it leaves behind a slight, natural luminosity. While it does contain sunscreen, it is an SPF 15– therefore, I still use an additional sunscreen with a higher sun protection factor since I live in Los Angeles, and require more protection.
Burt's Bees BB Cream with SPF 15, marries makeup and moisturizer in a light, natural formula. This cream possesses the essence of the noni plant, known for being rich in antioxidants and moisturizing properties. This cream is clinically shown to even skin tone while moisturizing. It protects the skin from sun damage with SPF 15 and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with a light tone base. It also visibly firms, conceals, smooths, illuminates and perfects skin.

I could have probably just as easily used the lightest shade, but Light/Medium also works for my skin, and will probably be a better match during the summer months. It appears a bit too warm and dark for me in the tube, but once it melts into my skin it looks natural on my skin.

Overall Assessment: If you love a good BB Cream, then you definitely should consider Burt's Bees BB Cream with Noni Extract SPF 15! Great quality and affordable, you just can't go wrong. The only thing that I would like to see is an expanded range of shades since there are many people who are both lighter and darker than the 3 shades available.
