The December Box, which costs $49.95, features three products from the magical Australian brand Lepaar (Total Retail Value: $151).

There are three products in the box:

1) Lepaar Luminous Face Balm / Moisture Lock + Stress Recovery (full size, 1 oz, $103)

All three products use botanical extracts that are sun-infused in demeter certified biodynamic cold pressed extra virgin olive oil. The sun infusions take at least 4-6 months and the infusions happen with zero electricity. All three products contain frankincense, myrrh and 24K non nano gold. 

Johanna and Christo's personal skincare philosophy includes the use of whole plant extracts and minimal use of essential oils. Their products therefore smell round and beautiful but not obviously 'fragrant' with essential oils and absolutes. Lepaar Luxurious Body Firming Oil / Deep Tissue Strengthening Composition (custom size, 50ml, $35): This delightful firming body oil, which is intensely moisturizing and nourishing, is lightweight, fast absorbing and a delight to use. It melts into the skin immediately and it leaves skin remarkably soft, smooth and supple. Filled with extraordinary ingredients, such as camellia oil, milk thistle, vanilla, arnica flower and saffron, this body oil is perfectly suited for the colder months of the year. It has a very light earthy aroma that delights the senses, but it is not long-lasting, and therefore won't interfere with any fragrances that you may opt to wear. Lepaar Luminous Face Balm / Moisture Lock + Stress Recovery (full size, 1 oz, $103): This is an ultra-luxurious balm that is intensely moisturizing and nourishing. It has a delicious creamy and emollient consistency coupled with a light chamomile flower aroma– both of which are utterly intoxicating. Lepaar Velvet Sole Lip+Face Balm (5ml, $13): This lightweight, highly emollient, nourishing and hydrating lip and face balm is perfectly suited to the cold weather, and it is an absolute chapped lip savior. You really only need a tiny bit of this concentrated balm for great results. It boasts exfoliating properties because it is infused with ground pink Himalayan salt and papaya seed oil, but it isn't in the least bit gritty, drying or irritating. Calendula extract and olive oil help heal dry chapped skin– leaving them soft, supple and moisturized. This also makes a wonderful lipstick base– particularly when used in conjunction with drying matte formulas, but it must be used very sparingly so as not to change the finish of the lip product.

A deeply hydrating moisture lock balm. Composed with exfoliating and rejuvenating Papaya Seed oil, restoring and wound-healing Calendula extract, moisture loss [preventing beeswax and trace element providing Pink Himalayan Crystal Salt.

Boxwalla thought they would,  "change it up for the holidays for our beauty subscribers and so the outer December Box has a peach base. The lids don't have any branding/logo to make it super easy to reuse for gifting. Like always, the boxes are custom-made for us, from tree-free handmade paper, made from cotton scraps by a small family owned company in India using traditional paper making techniques (and is completely child labor free)."

There is no logo on the reusable gift box.

Overall Assessment: While I just received this box, and haven't tested any of its products yet, I am really excited to try everything! The total value, based upon the description card, is $68.50– making this box a good value based upon the price of their tiered subscription rates. I have never tried any of the brands featured in this box, and I hope that I will love everything.

This scent experience showcases the uber talented perfumer Patrick Kelly, creator of Sigil Scent. Patrick creates both mystical and modern olfactory vignettes from all natural raw materials: essential oils, absolutes, CO2 extracts, house-made tinctures all blended in certified organic sugarcane alcohol. They are also cruelty free and vegan.

This Scent Experience that we have curated will consist of TWO PHASES:

Phase 1: Customers will receive 4, 2ml spray samples, in a small Boxwalla box. The scents are: Anima Mundi, Prima Materia, Amor Fati and Solutio.

After up to four weeks of testing (which will be accompanied by conversations and posts from Boxwalla and Patrick about the various nuances of the different scents and about perfume in general), customers can email Boxwalla (with the subject: Sigil Scent Choice) with their choice of full bottle. There will also be more information about testing perfume and about each scent on the accompanying insert.

On social media, Patrick Kelly, the perfumer, and I will be talking at length about each perfume, discussing the nuances, the notes, and you are welcome to 'sniff' with us, take notes as you explore these four gorgeous perfumes. Each one of the scents is indescribably complex and nuanced. They have impressive longevity, they are made with healthy ingredients and are 100% cruelty-free. Each of these brilliantly articulated perfumes must be worn and tested since your preferred key notes and your body chemistry will undoubtedly dictate your ultimate full bottle choice. Furthermore, each of the four perfumes has such a distinctive character that there is no way to compare them to one another without doing a tremendous injustice to each of these masterful creations. This is the brilliance and wisdom with this box, you get to live with each of the perfumes for long enough to know them intimately, and to understand the extent to which they transform when commingled with your particular chemistry, and the way in which they transform once they dry down.

Sigil Anima Mundi: "Anima mundi or “world soul” represents the intrinsic spirit that connects all living things on the planet—a spirit that exists beyond our consciousness yet is present within each of us. Embodying the vital force of our universe, Anima Mundi balances masculine animus and feminine anima. Like petals floating through curls of smoke, luscious notes of rose and creamy jasmine mingle with spicy hinoki wood. The scent’s intoxicating essence shifts from moment to moment, revealing fragrant notes of tuberose and the candied smokiness of pure immortelle."

Sigil Prima Materia: "In ancient times, prima materia referred to the formless root of all matter—a blend of stars and soil from which all things emerge, and an essential component in the alchemy of turning base materials into gold. Uniting the earthly and the heavenly, Prima Materia is a scent rooted in soot yet elevated by sparkling notes of fresh citrus. The creamy sweetness of neroli and the cleansing power of white sage embody celestial matter, while oakmoss and woody vetiver signify the spirit of the soil. As it melts into the skin, the alchemy of the scent begins—revealing a golden, resinous heart of pure amber."

Overall Assessment: This collaboration between Boxwalla and Sigil Scent is utterly extraordinary, and the extent to which this is a brilliant way to discover ultra-luxe handcrafted fragrances cannot be sufficiently underscored. During my scent journey through this exquisite first installment of Boxwalla's The Perfumer Series, I fell madly in love with Sigil Scent Anima Mundi and Solutio– the former is a magical amalgam of immortelle, hinoki, rose and jasmine– and it is neither too floral, nor too woodsy. Indeed, it strikes the perfect balance between these two magical realms. The latter, Solutio, is an alchemical masterpiece that coaxes the most extraordinary characteristics from the blend of cypriol, labdanum, chaparral tincture and cypress, and what emerges on my skin is a spicy citrus that is refined and altogether bewitching. This box earns an unmitigated A+

5) Doucce Relentless Matte Lip Crayon in Spur (Full Size. $22.00 for 0.0098 oz.): This full-size matte lip crayon glides across the lips so effortlessly, and its creamy texture doesn't feel dry or stiff. Spur is a gorgeous nude brown, and unlike most matte lipsticks, I do not find that this one dries out my lips. It is long-lasting and I have found it transfer-proof.

Directions: Apply generously onto freshly washed face. Most skin types will benefit from following immediately with an emollient moisturizer, facial oil, or balm. (For sensitive skin types, though, we recommend applying aloe serums like this one over an oil or emollient moisturizer.) Ideally REFRIGERATE to protect freshness and enhance the cooling, refreshing, and depuffing properties.

Ingredients: Cold-press whole-leaf Aloe barbadensis leaf juice*, Daucus carota (carrot) seed essential oil*, tocopherol (vit. Earthwise Beauty Yasuni Face Balm, which is also formulated for all types of skin, is an emollient and rich balm that is lightweight and very fast absorbing. This magnificent balm features cold-pressed plant butters, such as tucuma, bacuri and cupuaçu, that are responsibly sourced from the Amazon.

One of the remarkable features about this balm is the fact that the açai oil, which gently exfoliates and resurfaces the skin, acts much like retinol, but it does so gently and without redness, irritation or obvious peeling. Furthermore, it includes hydrating, and antioxidant-rich and anti-inflammatory, marula oil that leaves skin soft, smooth, hydrated and luminous.

It has a very interesting aroma that Earthwise Beauty describes as initially lightly fruity, "from the raspberry and cranberry oils, but there is also the grown-up element of freshly picked green coffee beans, and hints of fertile soil from the bacuri and of desert wind from the kokum butter." I would describe it as a berry aroma with a hint of rich earthiness, and it is very pleasant, but it is neither imposing, nor long-lasting.

According to Earthwise Beauty,

As soon as we launched our first face balm, Tigress, requests poured in for more face balms for more skin types, especially a balm without essential oils that would be appropriate for very sensitive skin. Ava had been immersed in a self-imposed plant butter study for two years by then, so creating a second balm was a matter of narrowing down the list of remarkable ingredients we already had on hand, and creating a focus for this new balm. 

Yasuni is based on fruit oils that have particularly high and wide-ranging phytonutrient levels and enzymatic action. This balm works similarly to a retinol on the skin, exfoliating and resurfacing it, but with none of the irritation, redness, or peeling often caused by actual retinol products. It is also an ideal balm for healing acne and reducing blackheads and oil production. 

Yasuni is named after the Yasuni National Park in Ecuador. Not many people outside of environmentalist circles have heard about this rainforest, but it is one of the most precious natural reserves still left on earth. Many scientists believe that is it the most biodiverse place on the planet, with record numbers of animal and plant species per geographic area. The story of the Yasuni rainforest is heartbreaking, because oil drilling has begun there despite the region's ecological importance. There is currently insufficient international support to help the government of Ecuador to maintain this natural reserve intact. We hope to raise awareness about this area so that we are all reminded to make purchasing and lifestyle choices with our planet in mind. 

...The açai oil exfoliates and resurfaces the skin similarly to a retinol product, but being a fruit oil, it doesn't overexfoliate or cause redness or intense peeling. Even more retinol-like action is supplied by the buriti oil, which is exceptionally high in betacarotenes. The enzymes keep sebum oil production in check, so oily skin types become more balanced and are not shiny at the end of the day, and the appearance of blackheads is greatly reduced over time. 

The deep green, whole-fruit açai fruit oil we've sourced is also the acne sufferer's dream come true: this very light, extract-like oil heals and dries up acne due to its enzymes and high vitamin C content, and unlike most other effective acne ingredients, it is nonirritating. The açai oil's anti-acne action is supported by the astringent kokum butter (cold extracted from mangosteen kernels), which helps to minimize pores, speed healing of acne breakouts, and promote skin firmness.

A few plant butters and other oils worth highlighting are the hydrating marula oil and cupuaçu butter, firming tucuma butter, deeply penetrating bacuri butter, sun-damage-correcting raspberry oil, and revitalizing cranberry oil.

Directions: Apply day and night all over the face or just on the more oily, acne-prone, and blackhead-prone areas. Yasuni may be blended with our Farizad's Veil Sun Reflector to add sun protection and to mattify the skin. Yasuni may also be blended with a few drops of a facial oil of choice for a looser, juicier balm.

Overall Assessment: This is my first time trying anything from Earthwise Beauty, and I am so impressed by their products that I definitely plan to further investigate the brand.  As always, this is such an amazing value from Boxwalla, and I highly recommend that you grab yours before they sell out.
