I used more skincare products than I expected in the month of April. While I am pleased that I finished many skin and body care products, I am also disappointed that 5 lipsticks became rancid before I was able to finish them. They are a few years old, and I haven't really worn lipstick since the pandemic began, but it is still disappointing. However, it isn't altogether surprising that some lipsticks have been unused and expired in the last two years.

Mustela Limited Edition Soothing Cleansing Gel ($12.99 for 10.14 oz from Amazon): This super creamy lathering cleansing gel is fragrance-free, soothing against even the most sensitive skin and it thoroughly cleans without any stripping or drying. In fact, it leaves skin lightly moisturized and comfortable. Purchase Again? I just opened a new bottle!

Spongellé Bulgarian Rose Body Buffer ($18.00 from Spongellé) is a brilliant body wash-infused sponge that effectively and gently cleans and exfoliates the skin, and it also leaves it deliciously baby soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. It really excels in its ability to clean and exfoliate the skin while delighting the senses with its delightful Bulgarian Rose aroma. 

You simply dampen the Spongellé Body Wash Infused Buffers with water to activate the very satisfying lather. Each sponge is filled with enough body wash for a minimum of 14+ washes, but I always get more washes from each of their buffers. Once you have used up all of the body wash, the sponge itself is left quite intact, and therefore all you need to do is use it in conjunction with your favorite liquid or bar soaps. The hanging ribbon allows the buffer to dry out easily, but I recommend hanging it outside of the moist environment of the shower to avoid bacterial growth. Purchase Again? I have quite a few of their body buffers to use up first, but I will definitely get the Bulgarian Rose again since I really love it!

5YINA Guiying Décolletage Treatment ($65.00 for 1.6 oz. from 5YINA and Beauty Heroes): is a neck, décolleté and breast treatment balm that is ultra-emollient and richly moisturizing. Simply massage this velvety smooth balm into the neck, décolleté and breasts– though I only tend to use it on my décolleté- and it melts into the skin immediately without leaving behind a greasy residue. It is highly concentrated, and therefore only a tiny amount is needed, and its herbal aroma, from the Chinese medicinal plants used, is calming and woodsy. It is formulated to help facilitate lymphatic drainage and to improve circulation, but it also deeply moisturizes and nourishes the skin leaving it soft, smooth and luminous. Furthermore, after sustained use it improves the appearance of the texture of the skin and leaves it with improved clarity. Purchase Again? At some point, perhaps, but I have too many open jars to finish first.

Go-To Face Hero Facial Oil ($34.00 for 1 oz. from Go-To): Formulated for all types of skin, this face oil is lightweight, fast absorbing and lusciously moisturizing. It has a rich and velvety texture that melts into the skin– leaving it silky smooth, luminous and lightly plumped. Not only does it brighten dull skin, but after sustained use it lightens dark spots. The antioxidant-rich formula helps to protect skin against free-radical damage, and the anti-inflammatory ingredients help to calm and soothe irritable skin. For this reason, I find it particularly effective when my skin is a bit sensitive, or when I use a peel or exfoliant (which I have done a lot of since March). It has a delectable warm aroma that is informed by the beautiful variety of oils used, but also from the Orange Blossom & Rose Gardenia natural fragrances. Purchase Again? I just opened my third bottle!

H is for Love Rapha Harmonizing Oil Cleanser ($58.00 for 1.69 oz. from H is for Love): This lovely cleansing oil is an ultra gentle and healing infusion of anti-inflammatory ingredients such as Calendula and Chamomile that soothe and calm irritated, sensitive and inflamed skin. This non-emulsifying formula effectively cleans the skin without ever stripping it, and in fact it offers the skin vital moisture without leaving behind a greasy residue. Simply massage a small amount into damp skin and then remove it with a warm, soft wash cloth. The biggest surprise is the extent to which this beautiful oil softens skin. The warm aroma of Chamomile is intoxicating, but without being in the least bit overpowering or cloying. Purchase Again? Once I finish up more cleansing oils!

Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator ($34.00 for 4.23 oz. from Vasanti, Amazon and Birchbox): is gentle, effective, non-stripping, and it has enough fine grit that it feels like an at-home microdermabrasion treatment. There is an abundance of fine, and uniform, exfoliating particles that do not leave my skin feeling irritated. Instead, my skin is left incredibly soft, silky-smooth and luminous. The results are immediate, and after a single use you will see a real difference.

You simply apply a pea-sized amount to damp skin and very gently use a circular motion to buff away dead skin cells. I also like to leave it on for a few minutes, either before or after manual exfoliation since it allows the enzymes to further break down the dead skin cells. My balanced to combination skin is left soft, smooth, supple and with a pronounced clarity. It is not, however, left dry, flaky or irritated. I should note that it has no discernible aroma, and therefore it should not bother people who avoid skincare products that are fragranced. Purchase Again? I will definitely think about when I use my other exfoliators!

Tossed out: I absolutely hate it when products go bad before I can finish them, but I was clearing through old makeup and I discovered that three Tom Ford Lip Color Lipsticks ($58.00 each from Nordstrom) and 2 Surratt Lipslicks ($34.00 each from Nordstrom) were rancid and the texture changed. Purchase Again? No. I have way too many lipsticks to use before buying any more.

Overall Assessment: I am pleased with what I was able to finish, but I wish that 5 lipsticks hadn't expired before I finished them. What did you use up, toss out, return or give away in April? Do tell!

I managed to use up a lot of full size products this month, and I learned that several of the products that I finished appear to have been discontinued! I am really trying to start off the new year by buying less, using more of what I already have, and wasting as little as possible! We will see if I am able to finish up a good number of open products next month as well. 

Mad Hippie MicroDermabrasion Facial ($31.99 for 2.1 oz. from Mad Hippie and Ulta): This is a seriously effective, and easy to use, exfoliant that utilizes a blend of physical exfoliants, from bamboo and volcanic ash, in concert with 6 different alpha-hydroxy acids and probiotics, to exfoliate dead skin cells. The physical exfoliating particles, which are gentle against the skin, dislodge dead skin cells while the AHAs help to dissolve them. The end result is clean, soft, smooth, glowing skin that is neither irritated, nor stripped. Purchase Again? Not anytime soon since I have too many exfoliators to use up first, but I would definitely use this again in the future.

Derma-E Essentials Nourishing Rose Cleansing Oil (This appears to have been discontinued): This cleansing oil has the most delectable rose aroma that smells good enough to wear as a perfume– it is utterly glorious, and it transforms the act of cleansing one's skin from the ordinary to the extraordinary. I simply apply a small amount to my dry face and neck, massage it in for a few seconds and then either rinse it off, or remove it with a warm, damp, plush wash cloth. Unlike many of my cleansing oils, this one does not emulsify when it comes into contact with water. What I find remarkable is the extent to which this cleansing oil thoroughly cleans the skin and leaves it incredibly soft, smooth, supple and hydrated. Purchase Again? I would in a second, and I hope that they bring it back!

BIOTHERM Blue Therapy Cream in Oil: I have to preface this by stating that I was nearly irrationally obsessed with this cream-in-oil moisturizer. It has a luxurious gel-cream texture that is enriched by nourishing oils, and the way in which in melts into the skin is so luxurious. It is richly moisturizing and it leaves skin very soft, supple and luminous. It has a lovely warm and creamy aroma, but it subsides once it sinks into the skin. Purchase Again? I would, but I do no think that they make this gem anymore.

Babor Perfect Glow Hydration Ampoule Concentrates ($39.95 for 7 ampoules 2ml each from Babor, Macy's, Skincare RX, SkinStore and Walmart): If your skin is dull and in need of luminosity and hydration, then these wonderful ampoules are just what you have been looking for! One ampoule per use offers the skin a wonderful dose of sustained hydration, and the light-reflecting particles blur imperfections and leave skin with a beautiful luminosity. Purchase Again? Maybe at some point, but I am currently swimming in hydrating products and won't need any for quite a while.

Klorane Smoothing and Relaxing Patches ($24.00-$26.00 for 7 sets from Klorane, Bluemercury): These are fast-acting and effective eye treatment masks that smooth fine lines, de-puff the under eye area and they offer wonderful hydration to the delicate skin beneath the eyes. Furthermore, these wonderful patches leave the skin wonderfully luminous, and the cooling gel patches feel absolutely wonderful against the skin! Purchase Again? Yes, absolutely– these are amazing!

Spongellé Private Reserve Body Wash Infused Buffer in Coconut Blossom ($16.00 from Spongellé): This is such a wonderful scent, and such a pleasure to use. Fragrance Notes: Top: Bitter Orange. Middle: Orris, Jasmine, Orange Flower. Base: Rosewood, Vanilla Marshmallow. It smells like a vacation on the beach in the tropics, and it polishes the skin to perfection, effortlessly removing dead skin cells and leaving skin incredibly soft and silky smooth. Purchase Again? I have many of their other fragrances to use first, but I would definitely buy this one when I need another one!

Baylis & Harding White Tea & Neroli Luxury Hand Wash ($3.97 for 16.9 oz. from Walmart): "Mouth watering and refreshing notes of citrus and pear notes are combined with a delicate rose and freesia bouquet on a bed of ambery woods, musks and tonka. This luxurious hand wash will leave your hands feeling invigorated and beautifully fragranced." This is seriously one of the most delectable hand soaps that I have ever used, and everything about it is luxurious– except the price! Purchase Again? Without question!

African Botanics Kalahari Desert De-Tox Bath Salts ($100.00 for 17.7 oz. from African Botanics): This beautiful product removes toxins and boost circulation. Skin is left soft, smooth, supple, and hydrated– while the spirits are elevated and rejuvenated. The aroma is a refined fusion of The Cape Floristic Region botanicals, and while the scent is an amalgam of their scents, the top notes are subtly informed by the slightly tangy Juniper Berry with its edges softened by the Cape Rose Geranium Oil, the Lemongrass Oil and the Marula Oil. The aroma is, itself, a complex, delectable, earthy, uplifting and intoxicating mood elevator that delights the senses. Additionally, the caffeine acts as an effective diuretic that removes excess water-retention and softens the appearance of cellulite while the carefully selected blend of ingredients nourish the skin, relax the muscles and quiet the mind. Purchase Again? Most definitely! I love soaking in bath salts, and it really doesn't get better than this!

African Botanics Marula Firming Botanical Body Oil ($130.00 for 3.4 oz. from African Botanics): It is an antioxidant rich moisturizing and firming oil that makes my skin look and feel utterly amazing. This is essentially an incredibly luxurious, potent and ultra moisturizing antioxidant rich anti-aging oil serum for the body. The idea is to treat your body as you do your face to keep it moisturized, dewy, radiant and protected all year long. This is my very favorite body oil because it does so much more than simply moisturize the skin, but it also does an extraordinary job moisturizing. My skin is left deeply hydrated, luminous, lifted, firmed, toned, and more soft and supple than I could have imagined possible. Purchase Again? I need to use up a lot of open body oils before they go bad, but would definitely get this one again in the future.

Baylis & Harding Sweet Mandarin & Grapefruit Luxury Slipper Gift Set ($14.98 from Walmart): is a wonderful holiday gift set to pamper your feet. The ultra-affordable price tag makes this an especially worthwhile purchase! If you love citrus scented body products, then you will adore this refreshing and uplifting aroma. Purchase Again? Oh yes, and I wear the slippers all of the time too!

LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant ($14.00 for 1.7 oz. from LAVANILA and Ulta): LAVANILA makes wonderful healthy deodorants that are effective and smell wonderful (though they also make an unscented variant for sensitive skin). Vanilla + Earth for Balance is described as "A warm and woody combination of patchouli and sandalwood that enhances focus and concentration." While its description might summon thoughts of a heavy woody scent punctuated by a pungent patchouli, this is a light, sweet and creamy woodsy scent infused with warm florals, and without any detectable notes from the patchouli. It has a depth and yet it isn't in the least bit overpowering. Purchase Again? I have already opened another on of their amazing deodorants!

Tom Ford Black Orchid Eau de Parfum ($140.00 for 1.7 oz. and $195.00 for 3.4 oz. from Nordstrom, Sephora, Ulta and Bloomingdale's): This fragrance is described as the "essence of the black-orchid flower" that is "both modern and timeless." It is a spicy warm floral which, according to Tom Ford, is a "rich blend of spice and darkness to revolve around you, to be closer, and closer to you. Unleash its perfect power—both rare and extraordinary.” Notes: black truffle, bergamot, black orchid, black plum, noir gourmand accord, patchouli. It is a rich and sultry scent that I find particularly fetching during the cold months of the year. Purchase Again? YES!

Tom Ford Traceless Foundation Stick ($89.00 for 0.50 oz. from Nordstrom, Sephora, 

Saks Fifth Avenue and Tom Ford): Traceless Foundation Stick is a wonderful  foundation, and it makes a fantastic concealer. In fact, it offers buildable coverage with a flawless, semi-dewy natural finish, and it is lightly hydrating. As a concealer, it radically diminishes the appearance of imperfections, and it neither settles into fine lines, nor does it migrate. The soft and creamy texture lends itself to finger application for perfect coverage. Purchase Again? Probably not. I have plenty of other foundations and tinted moisturizers to use, and Tom Ford discontinued my favorite shade, Pale Dune.

Overall Assessment: Not too bad, and hopefully I am able to finish a few more of my open products next month before they spoil. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in January? Any amazing products to share? Any real disappointments?

July 2021 Empties Galore!

I am a little surprised that I was able to finish up so many largely used up products in July, and I am so satisfied knowing that I was able to recycle so many bottles and jars. I thoroughly enjoyed using each and every product, and feel satisfied knowing that they didn't turn before I had the chance to finish them. I used up products that I really liked a lot, rather than products that I found mediocre just to finish them, but since I have so many remaining products to use before I make any new purchases, it is unlikely that I will replace any of these items in the near future.

VENeffect Anti-Aging Intensive Moisturizer ($185.00 for 1.7 oz. from VENeffect): is an extremely hydrating, yet incredibly lightweight and fast absorbing facial cream. It has a silky-smooth ultra luxurious texture that is rich enough to impart high levels of moisture, but it is also non-comedogenic and works beautifully on my normal to combination skin without ever causing any breakouts. Purchase Again? I would definitely consider it, but I will not need to invest in another face cream for a very long time!

Herbivore Phoenix Facial Oil ($88.00 for 1.7 oz. from Nordstrom, Credo Beauty, Sephora, Dermstore and Revolve): Formulated for mature and sensitive skin, this delectable lightweight and fast absorbing skin effortlessly melts into the skin and immediately hydrates, calms and nourishes  the skin. Skin feels indescribably soft, smooth, moisturized and pampered. It is a wonderful soothing and calming elixir for irritable and inflamed skin, and is a wonderful post-peel choice to help heal the skin. This antioxidant-rich formula, which uses Jojoba Oil as its carrier oil, offers deep moisture without any residual greasiness, but instead leaves the skin with a distinct luminous glow. After prolonged use, it softens the appearance of fine lines and helps to heal and repair damaged tissue. It has a lovely light rose aroma that is a treat to the senses. Purchase Again? I will definitely consider it, but I have lots of open face oils that I need to use before they go bad.

Tata Harper Beautifying Facial Oil (This seems to have been discontinued): This is a very lightweight and fast absorbing nourishing oil that leaves skin very soft, smooth, supple, luminous and hydrated. I apply it to slightly damp, freshly washed skin, and I often add another drop or two to my foundation for a dewy finish, and the benefits are immediately seen. It has a warm aroma from the essential oils blend, but I find that it fades soon upon absorption. Purchase Again if I could? I would, but it appears to have been discontinued.

Vichy Mineral 89 ($29.50 for 1.69 oz. from Ulta, Amazon, Dermstore and Walgreens): is described as a "new generation face moisturizer." It features 89% of Vichy's iconic Mineralizing Thermal Water that is further enhanced by Hyaluronic Acid to deeply boost hydration and fortify the skin. The consistency is that of a lightweight gel-like serum that sinks into the skin immediately leaving it hydrated with a luminous, ethereal glow. Dehydrated and dull skin gives way to comfortable, refreshed and moisturized skin without any greasy residue or stickiness. Furthermore, this fragrance-free moisturizer plumps fine lines, nourishes the skin and leaves skin soft, smooth and supple. It offers my normal/combination skin enough moisture and hydration during the warmer months that I can forgo a regular moisturizer altogether, and it pairs beautifully with my favorite serums and face oils, but during the rest of the year I layer it with richer moisturizers. Purchase Again? More than likely, but I have lots of open products to use first.

Rodin Olio Lusso Facial Cleansing Powder (This product is no longer avalable, and Estee Lauder has discontinued the brand): is a wonderful cleansing powder that effectively, and thoroughly, cleans the skin without ever stripping it. It is formulated so that one can customize their cleansing routine based upon the needs of the skin and personal preference. For instance, if one seeks an exfoliating cleanser, then simply add less water to preserve the granular texture which lends itself to efficient exfoliation. If, instead, one prefers a creamier consistency, then simply add more water and mix for a smooth texture. Once water is introduced, a lovely creamy lather, punctuated by the aroma of jasmine oil, soothes the skin and the senses. Skin is left silky smooth, thoroughly cleansed and lightly hydrated. Purchase again, if I could? I definitely would, and I am very sad that Linda Rodin's beautiful products have all been discontinued, and the brand is no longer.

Purchase Again? Probably not because it will be a long time before I need a new exfoliant. I did, however, love using this exfoliant!

Tatcha Camellia Cleansing Oil ($48.00 for 5 oz. from Tatcha, Sephora and Violet Grey): This cleansing oil is a true thing of beauty. The consistency is very light in weight, and is closer to the fluidity of water than one expects from an oil. It isn't too runny, but remains more fluid than viscous. In fact, I would suggest that for a cleansing oil it has the perfect consistency that lends itself to emulsifying beautifully.

It is a colorless (clear) oil that has a remarkably pleasant scent that resides somewhere between an herbal and a floral, but it is light and unassuming. The texture itself is sublime- it is a smooth silky elixir that feels simply amazing on the skin.

It is quite concentrated- you simply apply a small amount to your face, massage it in and then add water. Once water is introduced, and it begins to emulsify, the oil turns into a milky white magical potion. Not only is it unbelievably gentle on the skin, but it is likewise unbelievably effective at removing every single trace of makeup- including the most stubborn waterproof makeup. In order to remove every trace of makeup, I tend to use a Q-Tip to remove the last bits of makeup from my lash line, but I have not found it necessary to use an additional eye makeup remover. Purchase Again? I have at least 6 full-sized cleansing oils to use, and several deluxe samples of this to use first, but I would definitely repurchase this once I need another cleansing oil.

Lumene Sisu Defend & Replenish Antioxidant Mist ($14.99 for 3.4 oz. from Amazon): This refreshing and hydrating antioxidant mist can be used any time of the day when your skin needs a little boost, but it can also be used to set your makeup. I prefer to store it in the refrigerator when I use it during the warmer weather because it gives the skin such relief during the summer. It leaves skin hydrated, soft, smooth and luminous. It has a light fruity aroma, but it is very pleasant and it isn't long-lasting. Purchase Again? At some point when I don't have so many like-products, but this one was definitely a joy to use.

Derma E UPLIFT Skin Beneficial Mist ($18.95 for 1 oz. from Derma E): is a gorgeous blend of citrus tempered by chamomile and lavender, and the end result is a slightly spicy citrus that is as uplifting and invigorating as the name suggests! It awakens the senses and it smells utterly delectable. Purchase Again? Maybe when I finish up my back up bottle of Create.

Derma E CALM Skin Beneficial Mist ($18.95 for 1 oz. from Derma E): is a very relaxing and calming blend of  Lemon, Eucalyptus, Sage and Rosemary, and a single deep breath of this essence slows a busy mind, calms a tense body and leaves the spirit soothed. Purchase Again? I will definitely consider purchasing this one again once I finish my last bottle of Create.

Derma E CREATE Skin Beneficial Mist ($18.95-$18.99 for 1 oz. from Derma E): is a wonderfully refreshing and stimulating blend of Rosemary, Ginger, Spearmint– an inspiring amalgam of essential oils that are a pleasure to the senses. A touch of Cardamom, which helps promote focus and clarity, comes through in the base notes, and it adds a touch of spice to this beautiful blend. Purchase Again? I just opened a new bottle! 

Baylis & Harding Oud, Cedar & Amber Natural Hand Soap ($5.99 for 16.9 oz. from Target): is a rich, creamy and warm blend that is so luxe that it is hard to believe that it could be as affordable as it actually is. It is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. Purchase Again? Without question! This is amazing hand soap from an extraordinary brand! A+

Spongellé Hand Defense Hand Wash Infused Buffer ($14.00 each or $56.00 for a 4-pack from Spongellé): This is a wonderful new addition to the Spongellé line, and this launch offers a perfect way to thoroughly wash hands during the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, you won't mind how often that you need to wash your hands given that these soap infused sponges thoroughly clean and exfoliate, plus they get into every hard to reach spot. Additionally, they don't strip the skin, but instead they leave it hydrated, soft and smooth. The four available scents are delicious, and the creamy lather is incredibly satisfying to the touch. Spongellé suggests that each sponge offers 40+ washes, but I always find that I get more washes out of all of their products than they suggest. Purchase Again? I still have one left!

Revitalash Thickening Shampoo ($36.00 for 8.5 oz. from Revitalash and Amazon): When I wash my hair with this shampoo, and after I massage it into my scalp and work it though the length of my hair, I allow it to sit for a few minutes to optimize its efficacy. When I rinse it out, I immediately note that my hair is clean, but not stripped. Purchase Again? I have lots of shampoo to use before buying any more.

Revitalash Thickening Conditioner ($37.00 for 8.5 oz. from Revitalash and Amazon): This wonderfully nourishing, and ultra-hydrating, conditioner leaves my scalp comfortable, my hair shiny and silky-smooth, and in conjunction with their shampoo there is decidedly less hair in the drain of my shower. My hair has more volume, it feels thicker and it is definitely more hydrated, manageable and healthy. Purchase Again? Not likely, simply because I have a ridiculous number of bottles of conditioner to use up first. However, this is really good conditioner, and I was sad when I finished the bottle!

Tom Ford Cheek Color in Frantic Pink ($67.00 from Nordstrom): Frantic Pink (discussed here and here) is a pinky peach shade with warm multicolor pearl, and it was my favorite go-to daily blush for a very long time. I think that the color and formula changed slightly, and it looks as though most places are sold out– therefore, I am not sure if they are out of stock or if something new is replacing it. I still have a couple of Tom Ford Cheek Color compacts left, in other colors, but I really did love this blush and used every last bit. Purchase Again? Probably not because I have lots of blushes to use, and I am gravitating toward other brands these days.This was one gorgeous blush!

Overall Assessment: There you have it! I am extremely happy that I was able to finish up this many products in July. I should say, however, that it is less impressive than it seems because they were all nearly empty to begin with. Nonetheless, I managed to finish them up and recycle or repurpose their containers. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in July? Do tell!

I somehow thought that I would use up a few more open products in June than I did, but I did manage to use up a few things before they started to turn. I have to preface this by stating that I have really shifted my attention to using up products that I love, and that I would happily use again. That said, I am swimming in skincare and body care products, and it will likely be a while before I need to repurchase anything.

Here is what I used up in June 2021:

Pai Rosehip BioRegenerating Oil ($44.00 for 1 oz. from Credo Beauty, Beauty Expert, Follain, The Detox Market, Free People, Pai's Amazon Store, Cult Beauty and Goop): This amber colored nourishing oil, which is suitable for all types of skin, is ultra-rich in Omegas that help regenerate skin without irritating even the most sensitive skin types. It is formulated to combat dullness, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, blemishes, flaky skin, scars, sun damage and dryness.

It is a lightweight, and fast absorbing oil, that neither leaves behind an oily residue, nor an amber stain on the skin. It has a warm and earthy natural aroma that fades soon upon absorption. I simply apply it to warm, and slightly damp, freshly cleansed skin, and immediately note that my skin feels soft, smooth, supple, deeply moisturized and luminous. Its antioxidant-rich anti-inflammatory ingredients calm and soothe irritated skin, and it effectively reduces inflammation when skin is irritated from breakouts or post-peel redness. Repurchase? At some point I definitely will!

African Botanics Résurrection Eye Crème ($180.00 for 0.50 oz. from African Botanics, Revolve and Credo Beauty): The consistency of Résurrection Eye Crème is lightweight and fast absorbing, and this silky smooth cream absolutely melts into the skin in the most luxurious way imaginable. It has a silky, ultra-refined texture without any of the granular particles typically found in many Shea Butter- based products. Unlike the original eye cream, that was housed in a glass pot, this new eye cream comes in an elegant air-tight glass bottle with a pump. 

This beautiful eye cream is healing, hydrating and restorative– leaving the delicate eye area looking and feeling refreshed and youthful. This beautiful, and effective formula, plumps fine lines, lifts and nourishes the delicate skin around the eyes, deeply hydrates the skin, and leaves skin with an pronounced clarity and luminosity. The potent healthy ingredients, serious efficacy and superior texture make this eye cream such a joy to use. This luxe eye cream can be used day and night, and because the results are so astounding it is doubtful that you will ever want to use another eye cream. It is remarkably concentrated– therefore, only the smallest amount delivers enviable results, and therefore this bottle will last much longer than expected. Repurchase? I opened another bottle already (it is now in a pump bottle rather than a jar).

Colbert MD Intensify Facial Disks ($70.00 for 20 discs from Dermstore, Olivela and the official Colbert MD Amazon Store): I have regularly used various types of facial exfoliating pads for many years, and have to confess that my experience with Colbert MD Intensify Facial Disks was a real game changer for me all of those years ago. While most of the solution soaked exfoliating pads that I have used are thin and double sided, Colbert MD has reimagined its form and instead has opted for a very plush and thick single sided pad. The generously saturated pre-moistened disks include a small tab on the back that makes holding the disk easy, and allows one to maintain effortless control.

The combination of the mild microdermabrasion action from the surface of the pad coupled with the enzyme action of the solution immediately and effectively encourages cell turnover that aids in the promotion of collagen production. Skin, unobstructed by a proliferation of dead skin cells, is then able to effortlessly and effectively absorb skincare products. The end result is unbelievably soft, smooth, supple and luminous skin. Repurchase? At some point I definitely will, but I have a few other similar products to use up first!

Spongellé Hand Defense Hand Wash Infused Buffer ($14.00 each or $56.00 for a 4-pack from Spongellé): Spongellé Hand Defense is a wonderful new addition to the Spongellé line, and this launch offers a perfect way to thoroughly wash hands during the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, you won't mind how often that you need to wash your hands given that these soap infused sponges thoroughly clean and exfoliate, plus they get into every hard to reach spot. Additionally, they don't strip the skin, but instead they leave it hydrated, soft and smooth. The four available scents are delicious, and the creamy lather is incredibly satisfying to the touch. Spongellé suggests that each sponge offers 40+ washes, but I always find that I get more washes out of all of their products than they suggest. Repurchase? I have two more to use before I will need to purchase more.

Fruits of the Islands Toasted Coconut Glycerin Loofah Bar: Several years ago, a very good friend of mine bought me several glycerin loofah bars while on vacation in Hawaii. These appear to have come from a candy company, and they do not appear to sell these anymore, but there are many other companies who produce glycerin soap infused loofahs. They offer such a wonderful way to clean and exfoliate at the same time, and they are great for hand washing as well as bathing. Repurchase? I have lots of soaps to use first, but I definitely liked this enough to use something like it again!

Rituals Shower Happy Buddha Sweet Orange & Cedar Foaming Shower Gel Sensation (Full size $15.00 for 6.7 oz. from Rituals): Longtime readers already know how much I love Rituals products, and their rich and creamy Shower Gels are among my very favorite body washes. Happy Buddha's delectable dense foam, coupled with its intoxicating sweet orange and cedar aroma, make this a shower-time treat that delights the senses. Furthermore, this is a very moisturizing body wash that thoroughly cleanses the skin without any stripping. I also love to use this to shave my legs and underarms! Repurchase? I have another can of this scent, and quite a few others to use first. However, I love their Foaming Shower Gels, and once I run out of them I will buy another one!

Philip B Oud Royal Forever Shine Shampoo ($84.00 for 7.4 oz. from Philip B., Nordstrom, Space NK and Net-a-Porter.): is utterly unbelievable! This ultra-nourishing shampoo features time-released botanical moisturizers that make hair soft, supple, hydrated and give it a praiseworthy glossy shine. Oud Royal Forever Shine Shampoo is able to give my naturally curly hair unprecedented shine, and those among you with curly tresses know the extent to which it is difficult achieve shiny curly hair, but this miracle formula really delivers serious shine. Repurchase? Oh what decadent luxury! Perhaps one day, but I do have another Philip B shampoo to use first.

Philip B. Oud Royal Thermal Protection Spray ($32.00 for 4.23 oz. from Bloomingdale's, Dermstore, and Net-A-Porter): This is a weightless and lovely-scented spray that protects hair from from heated styling tools while imparting greater shine. Furthermore, it is loaded with a mixture of botanical hydrators that condition hair. Repurchase? I am searching to see if I have one more bottle of this magic potion, and if I don't I will; purchase another!

Tom Ford Lip Color Lipstick in Vanilla Suede and So So Vain ($56.00 from Nordstrom and Sephora): Tom Ford's creamy dreamy lipsticks are a true thing of beauty, and they are gorgeous on the lips with their impressive pigmentation and finish. I used up most of Vanilla Suede, but when I went to use it recently, I noticed that it had become rancid. So So Vain, which is an extraordinarily beautiful shade, also turned rancid. I am more upset about the latter, than the former– what a waste. Repurchase? I am trying to purchase cruelty-free products that are clean, and both of these shades appear to have been discontinued anyway.

Tom Ford Traceless Foundation SPF 15 in Pale Dune (Discontinued formula): I absolutely loved this foundation formula, and color, so much. It offered light and seamless coverage. I wanted to photograph it before I tried to pry the top off to get the last few drops at the bottom of the bottle. Would I repurchase it if it were still made? That is a tough question. I am really moving away from brands filled with chemicals, and that are not cruelty-free. 

COCOFLOSS ($9.00 each. Available at Credo Beauty and goop): Cocofloss is a very effective dental floss that deeply cleans teeth and is gentle and soothing on the gums. It actually makes flossing something that I look forward to, and it is available in 4 coconut infused flavors: Delicious Mint, Pure Strawberries, Fresh Coconut and Cara Cara Orange. Repurchase? Definitely, I love this stuff– especially the Delicious Mint. However, I need to use up the other floss that I have first.

Overall Assessment: I called it last month when I said that I wasn't going to be able to finish as many open products in June as I did in May, but I am glad that I finished up some of my favorite products before they became unusable! May Empties 2020

The months seem to be blurring together since we have been under a stay-at-home order, and it really seems as though I just did an empties post for April! As you can clearly see, I am using up a lot of bars of soap each month with all of the necessary hand-washing, and the other products just tend to be daily use items.

LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant ($14.00 for 1.7 oz. from LAVANILA, Amazon and Ulta): LAVANILA makes wonderful healthy deodorants that are effective and smell wonderful (though they also make an unscented variant for sensitive skin). Their Vanilla Grapefruit scent is probably my favorite because it smells utterly scrumptious, and offers long-lasting protection. Purchase Again? I already have a replacement!

Fleur's Delightful Body Exfoliating Mist ($53.50 for 3.3 oz. from LeSpa USA): I am thoroughly obsessed with this exfoliating body mist– it is unlike anything else that I have tried. It has the most gorgeous floral aroma, it hydrates and refreshes the skin, and it effectively exfoliates dead skin cells. Simply spray it on your body, gently massage the skin and let it do the rest. Purchase Again? Maybe eventually, but I already have a couple of foaming and gel body exfoliants that I need to use up first.

LAVANILA Vanilla Grapefruit Rollerball ($19.00 for 0.33 oz. from LAVANILA and Ulta): This combination of warm Madagascar Vanilla and tangy pink grapefruit is such an unexpected surprise. The vanilla warms up grapefruit and transforms it into a creamy, warm citrus. Purchase Again? I have a full size bottle that I am currently using!

Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge Perfume ($240.00 for 1.7 oz. from Sephora and Nordstrom): Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge Perfume (sample): I love this scent! According to Tom Ford, "Voluptuous, sensuous and audacious, TOM FORD Jasmin Rouge is a saturated, spiced floral. An unexpected blend of precious sambac jasmine sepals absolute—an ingredient never used before in perfumery—with dusky clary sage and rich spices." Purchase Again? I would definitely consider purchasing a small bottle, but I need to use up a few of my perfumes first.

MegRhythm Gentle Steam Eye Mask ($10.99-$17.77 for 7 masks from Yes Style Global and Amazon): If you are looking for serious stress relief, MegRhythm Steam Eye Mask, which stays at a comfortable temperature for 10 minutes, bathes "eyes and the delicate eye area in warm steam. This 'steam bath for the eyes' helps with deep release of the tension of the day and soothes the mind. Purchase Again? I have two full boxes, and I will definitely repurchase when they are nearly empty!

Flowerspice Modern Apothecary Soothe and Repair Daily Moisturiser Rose & Coriander with Prickly Pear and Aloe Vera ($82.00 value from Boxwalla): This ultra-creamy moisturizer is rich, and yet luxuriously light and fast absorbing– it melts into the skin immediately, and it leaves behind no greasy residue whatsoever. It leaves skin remarkably soft, supple, lightly plumped, hydrated and luminous. It has a wonderful scent that is informed by the Rose and Coriander– thus it has a lightly spicy floral aroma that is utterly beautiful. Purchase Again? I definitely will once I finish up a couple of my open face creams, this stuff is sensational!

Artnaturals Hair Argan Oil Conditioner ($26.00 for 16 oz. each from Target): This conditioner, which is enriched with Argan Oil, is formulated to condition and protect hair while moisturizing, strengthening and enhancing manageability. This formula is safe for color-treated hair, gentle enough for curly dry hair, and it doesn't weigh down fine hair. Furthermore, it leaves hair soft, shiny, manageable and adds volume to lifeless tresses. It has a light scent that is clean and not long-lasting. Purchase Again? I already have a replacement bottle!

Mario Badescu A.H.A. Botanical Body Soap ($8.00 for 8 oz. and $14.00 for 16 oz. from Ulta and Nordstrom): This Alpha Hydroxy Acid body wash effectively exfoliates dead skin cells without any exfoliating particles, and it does so without stripping the skin in the least bit. It has a nice lather and a pleasant subtle aroma and it leaves skin soft and supple. I only use it where I seek exfoliation, and then use a non-exfoliating body wash elsewhere. Purchase Again? Just as soon as I finish up a few more body washes.

June Jacobs Fresh Squeezed Lemon Cleanser ($44.00 for 6.7 oz. from June Jacobs and Walmart): This wonderfully uplifting aromatic lemon cleanser is lightly lathering, non-stripping, and gentle enough for daily use. It effectively sweeps away dirt and makeup without ever drying or over-working the skin. The nourishing formula leaves skin feeling fresh, clean, soft and supple. Purchase Again? While I would definitely use this again, I am currently swimming in facial cleansers, so I won't need another for quite a while.

Dove Pink Beauty Bar ($2.99-$12.99 for 2-14 bar packs from Target and Walgreens): This creamy cleanser contains ¼ moisturizing cream to help make skin soft, smooth and hydrated. It doesn't strip skin in the least, nor does it leave it taut. Purchase Again? Most definitely! I already have more bars!

Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar ($3.19-$12.99 for 2-14 bar packs from Target, Walgreens and Bed, Bath & Beyond): If you have sensitive skin, then you likely seek a gentle cleansing bar that will neither strip, nor dry out your skin, and this bar definitely delivers. Furthermore, this bar leaves skin soft, smooth and not in the least bit taut. Purchase Again? Most definitely! I already have more bars!

Nubian Heritage Olive Oil & Green Tea Bar Soap ($4.99 for 5 oz. from Nubian Heritage, iHerb, The Vitamin Shoppe and Swanson Vitamins): This wonderful bar soap has a rich and emollient lather that is neither stripping, nor is it in the least bit drying. In fact, it hydrates and nourishes the skin while the green tea leaves offer gentle exfoliation for the removal of dead skin cells. The aroma is intoxicating and exhilarating, and it fills the shower with its fresh green essence. Purchase Again? Oh yes!

L'Occitane Extra Gentle Soaps ($14.00 for 8.8 oz. from Sephora and Skin Store): You simply can't go wrong with any of L'Occitane's beautiful, and moisturizing soaps. I prefer to buy the large bars since they last for such a long time. Purchase Again? YES!

Overall Assessment: Well, there you have it. As you can see, I used lots of soaps and a little bit of this and that. What did you use up or toss out in March? Any real duds or winners to report?
