I am a big fan of body scrubs and exfoliating body washes that invigorate the skin and the senses. However, I like to have luxury and drugstore items from which to choose, and here are my top two picks that are definitely worthy of your consideration!

Malin+Goetz Peppermint Body Scrub ($35.00 for 7.5 oz. from Malin+Goetz, Space NK,  Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's): This is one of my all-time favorite body scrubs for so many reasons! Among them is the fact that it boasts a foaming gel formula that is gentle and non-stripping, and yet it effectively removes dead skin cells, and reveals silky soft and ultra smooth skin. It also has no greasy residue that requires additional washing, and the peppermint aroma is seriously exhilarating without being overdone. This is a truly amazing body scrub, and I highly recommend it! If you are willing to splurge, this should be at the top of your list!

The warm weather is here, and one of my favorite things to do is to exfoliate to remove dead skin cells and to reveal silky smooth skin. Here are my Top 5 Luxury Body Scrubs for the season.

SALT By Hendrix Magical Rose Sugar Soufflé ($35.00 for 7 oz. from SALT By Hendrix): is yet another reason to fall madly in love with this stupendous Australian brand. As you already know, I am thoroughly smitten with the SALT by Hendrix Coco-Salt Body Buff (Reviewed HERE), but I actually might just love their Magical Rose Sugar Soufflé even more. As the name rightly suggests, it really is a magical scrub. This sugar-based exfoliator has a light and fluffy soufflé texture that is neither too dry, nor too oily. It contains a lovely symphony of oils that hydrate and nourish the skin while the sugar particles exfoliate dead skin cells–revealing soft, smooth, supple and moisturized skin. It has a light rose aromatic veil that is very soft and feminine. This lovely scrub is cruelty-free and free of toxic ingredients, and the sugar melts completely, and therefore will not clog your drain (and is safe for the environment).

It effectively and gently removes dead skin cells to reveal soft, supple and hydrated skin. The sugar crystals dissolve while the Shea Butter melts into the skin providing superior moisture. Unlike many body scrubs that are suspended in oils or butters, this remarkable scrub washes clean leaving behind no greasy residue.

It never strips the skin, and it leaves it soft, smooth supple and radiant. The Passion Fruit aroma is utterly intoxicating, and is a wonderfully uplifting scent.

Fleur's Exfoliants for Perfect Summer Skin

French beauty brand, Fleur's, knows a thing about beautiful skincare that is a pleasure to use. Brigitte Gédouin created Fleur's because of her love of "flowers, paintings colors, scents…" and therefore her collection, "is filled with the artistic world of its creator." 

Fleur's makes a few really remarkable exfoliants for the face and body that I have had been rather obsessed with, and after using them for a while I thought that I would share my thoughts with you.

Fleur's Intense Exfoliating Cream ($44.00 for 1.6 oz. from LeSpa USA): This effective physical exfoliant gently, and immediately, removes dead skin cells, impurities and any remaining makeup. It leaves skin soft, smooth, supple and luminous without stripping the skin. It has a lovely light floral aroma that is incredibly pleasing to the senses without being in the least bit overpowering.

According to Fleur's,

Thanks to the combination of intensive exfoliants of natural origin and hibiscus oil, this creamy scrub provides the face with a sublime "new skin" effect. Day after day, the skin is smoothed, skin texture is visibly refined and the freshness of the complexion revealed. Fleur's Floraskin Blossom Renewing Serum ($89.00 for 1 oz. from LeSpa USA): This lightweight and fast absorbing serum, which can be used in the morning and evening, harnesses the exfoliating properties of floral acids to remove dead skin cells in order to reveal radiant, fresh skin. Furthermore, it lightly plumps fine lines and leaves skin remarkably smooth. It has a lovely light floral aroma, but it is neither long-lasting, nor overpowering.

This infinitely silky serum makes the skin blossom with new youth. Its innovative formula combines natural floral acids with the Plumping Floral Bouquet. Fleur's Delightful Body Exfoliating Mist ($53.50 for 3.3 oz. from LeSpa USA): I am thoroughly obsessed with this exfoliating body mist– it is unlike anything else that I have tried. It has the most gorgeous floral aroma, it hydrates and refreshes the skin, and it effectively exfoliates dead skin cells. Simply spray it on your body, gently massage the skin and let it do the rest.

According to Fleur's,

Fleur's Delightful Body Exfoliating Mist is an exfoliaitng application for a fast, fresh, hydrating boost for the body. After lightly misting the floral water onto the body, smooth hands over the skin until absorbed for an ultra-soft, quenching finish for all skin types.

Directions: Spray on the body then massage to gently exfoliate and moisturize the skin. Apply once a day, do not rinse.

Overall Assessment: If you are looking for effective exfoliants, that are gentle and effective, Fleur's exfoliants are definitely worthy of your consideration. I cannot sufficiently underscore the extent to which it is important to use sunscreen in general, but it is extra important to remember to use sunscreen liberally and very often when exfoliating your skin– which leaves it more vulnerable to the elements.

Earth Therapeutics Purifying Body Exfoliator and Triple Butter Body Butter for Soft, Lusciously Smooth Skin

I have been using several products from Earth Therapeutics over the last year, and their Triple Butter Organic Foot Balm ranks among my very favorite foot creams– therefore I was very happy to try their Purifying Body Exfoliator and their Organic Triple Butter Body Butter, and as I suspected, they do not disappoint. I am a huge proponent of exfoliation followed by rich creams, body butters and oils, and I find this practice particularly effective during the colder months of the year when I need added hydration. Thus, I am really enjoying these new additions to my body care routine this season.

Earth Therapeutics Purifying Body Exfoliator ($9.99 from Earth Therapeutics): This body exfoliator has a textured surface, that is infused with medicinal charcoal, to gently exfoliate dead skin cells, stimulate circulation and draw out impurities. I simply place a small amount of liquid body cleanser on the sponge, add water to create a lather, and then gently massage it into my skin. It leaves skin very soft and silky smooth– without feeling stripped or irritated.

According to Earth Therapeutics,

This purifying body exfoliator is textured to gently scrub away the outer layers of dead skin to unclog pores-while an embedded infusion of medicinal charcoal enhances the cleansing process by drawing out impurities. Specially designed to massage the skin, this body exfoliator also stimulates circulation, so skin can breathe freely. After regular periodic use, skin will benefit from the deep clean-feeling soft, smooth, and healthy.

Directions: Wet in warm water, apply your favorite cleanser, and gently massage the skin. The frequency of use really depends on the sensitivity of your skin, but we recommend exfoliating at least once a week. After using sponge, hang to dry. Keep in a dry area. Replace the sponge every 3 months or so, depending on frequency and intensity of use.

Earth Therapeutics Organic Triple Butter Body Butter Orange & Earth Therapeutics Organic Triple Butter Body Butter Mango ($9.99 for 6.7 oz. from Earth Therapeutics): Earth Therapeutics Body Butters boast a non-greasy formula that are mid-weight, fast absorbing and intensely hydrating. There is no greasy residue left behind, and skin is left soft, silky smooth and very moisturized.

Earth Therapeutics Organic Triple Butter Body Butter Orange has a refreshing, light aroma that is very pleasant, but it does fade soon upon application. Their Mango Body Butter has a light, and uplifting, aroma that lingers for a few minute after it is absorbed before fading away. Therefore, neither the orange, nor the mango will interfere with other fragrances that you may want to wear.

According to Earth Therapeutics,

This triple body butter features three natural plant butters: Cocoa butter, often used to soothe sunburns, rashes and insect bites; Mango butter, a natural source of vitamin A; and Shea butter, known to reduce skin inflammation and intense moisturizer.

Miracle Products for Silky Smooth Skin and Feet from Baby Foot, Mirakle Cream and Bella Schneider Beauty

As a huge proponent of head to toe exfoliation, I thought that I would share a couple of favorites, and a luscious multipurpose face and body moisturizer to hydrate and protect that freshly exfoliated skin. While I exfoliate all year long, I make sure to do it consistently during the colder months so that all of the face and body oils and moisturizers that I use can sink into the skin unobstructed by excessive dead skin cells.

Baby Foot Exfoliant Foot Peel ($25.00 from BabyFoot.com, Beauty Bridge and Amazon): Baby Foot Exfoliant is an all-natural, foot exfoliant that removes dead skin and callouses unlike anything that I have experienced before. It leaves feet unbelievably soft and smooth without any rigorous effort on your part. The formula features 17 types of natural extracts that allow your feet to exfoliate natural and effectively.

Baby Foot is remarkably easy to use, but should obviously be avoided if you are sensitive to any of the ingredients. It is a very active and effective enzyme peel that makes your feet molt like nothing you have ever seen before. In fact, it is so effective, and the results are so shocking, that I found it too unsightly to post a picture of my feet after they began to peel in sheets!

It is a very easy three step process, but there is a highly effective trick to ramping up the efficacy and for speeding up the results. Before you begin, you need to wash your feet thoroughly, but if you soak your feet in warm water after washing, and before using Baby Foot, your feet will begin to peel sooner and even more thoroughly.

You simply cut along the dotted line and then slip each foot into the pre-moistened plastic lined socks and seal them with the tape that is provided. You may feel a slight tingling sensation at the beginning, but I found that it only lasted for about a minute. Leave Baby Foot on for an hour so that the exfoliant can have the requisite amount of time to work its magic. Then you simply remove the Baby Foot and wash your feet with soap and water to remove all traces of the exfoliating gel.

Dead skin cells generally begin peeling within 3-7 days following your initial application, but mine began to peel the next day, and continued for the following two weeks. Had I soaked my feet a bit longer before application, the duration of my peel time would have been significantly shortened.

Baby Foot asserts that one should not forcibly remove dead skin cells when the peeling process begins, but instead to let It exfoliate gently and naturally. Some people find that their feet become dry before peeling begins, and Baby Foot suggests that they "moisturize lightly and sparingly with an oil-free beauty care product." Peeling time may vary from person to person and can take up to 2 weeks to complete.

Instead, it hydrates the skin, and leaves it velvety soft, silky smooth, supple and luminous.

According to Bella Schneider Beauty,

Gentle decadence. Smooth exfoliation. This luxury body polish is so sensual you’ll be all smiles once you’ve scrubbed with it. Rich in vitamins A, D, B and trace elements as well as amino acids. Mirakle Cream ($34.00 for 1.7 oz. from The Better Skin Co.): This is a rich and creamy, and yet lightweight and fast absorbing, multipurpose face and body cream. It is intensely moisturizing, and it feels wonderfully refreshing on the skin. It rapidly heals dry patches and quickly leaves skin soft, supple, hydrated and luminous. Additionally, I find it quite soothing during the colder months when skin is subject to temperature fluctuations between the heated interiors and cold exteriors. It is fragrance-free, gluten-free, Paraben-free and cruelty-free, but it does contains Lanolin and Beeswax– therefore it is not vegan.

I love high quality body exfoliators, and I really love using them. I enjoy the refreshing process of sloughing off dead skin cells, and revealing silky smooth skin. However, I like gentle formulas without jagged exfoliating particles that can tear and damage the skin. My most recent body scrub obsession is the lovely COWSHED Gorgeous Cow Blissful Shower Scrub, and not only is it gentle, but the delectable rose scent makes using it an unmitigated delight. It looks a bit like strawberry jam, and smells equally edible, and unlike many body scrubs that contain oils, this one does not make an oily and slippery mess of your shower. The Jojoba Beads and Coconut Fibre are simultaneously very gentle on the skin and extremely effective in their ability to exfoliate the skin. Therefore, this scrub is a great choice for all skin types– including sensitive skin. Skin is left soft, silky smooth, supple and ultra-luminous. I love everything about this scrub, and definitely plan to buy a replacement tube as soon as I finish this one up.
