The fruit enzymes break down and remove dead skin cells while the finely ground almonds offer physical exfoliation. Simply apply to the skin and add water to gently exfoliate the skin, and rinse thoroughly. Skin is left soft, smooth, hydrated and luminous. I only need to use this once a week, but your use may vary depending upon the needs of your skin.

For instance, I was looking through my stash to find a very effective exfoliant, oil and cream to perform a miracle on my hands and feet. After a summer of running around the house and yard barefoot, and 18+ months of using hand sanitizers and hand soaps all of the time, I needed some serious dry skin relief! Derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub ($32.50 for 2 oz. from derma e, Ulta, Birchbox): is a wonderfully effective facial scrub. This exfoliator features tiny, and densely populated, exfoliating particles suspended in a creamy base that has enough grit to sweep away dead skin cells effortlessly. The formula is gentle, effective and non-stripping. Skin is left soft, silky smooth, supple and refreshed. It is a very concentrated formula– so this 2 oz. jar should last a long time unless you are using it on your face and body. Derma e suggests that it can be used on your hands, elbows, feet, knees– or anywhere you need to exfoliate rough skin, and I definitely agree that it is quite effective on rough skin in those regions as well.
Directions: Use twice a week. Apply to wet skin. Gently scrub desired areas in circular motion for up to 1 minute. For sensitive skin, less pressure is recommended. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Pat dry.
Derma E Vitamin E Skin Oil 14,000 IU ($11.50 for 2 oz. from Derma E, Amazon and Walmart): This formula, which is suspended in Safflower Seed Oil is lightweight, fast absorbing, nourishing and richly moisturizing. It has absolutely no fragrance, whatsoever, and it is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten-free and GMO-free. It is quite affordable, and this 2 oz. bottle should last a very long time. You can use it all over your face, neck and décolleté, or you can simply use it to heal dry and flaky skin on your face and body.
Directions: Pour a small amount of Vitamin E Oil onto the fingertips and apply to the entire face, neck and dry flaky patches in light upward strokes. Use ad desired.

Recently I began using Clayton Shagal Bamboo and Honey Exfoliant, and I have been utterly delighted by the results. This cruelty-free exfoliator has the delectable light aroma of honey and sweet almond oil, and it is a calming treat to the senses. Formulated for normal, dry and mature skin types, this exfoliant pampers the skin while gently removing dead skin cells. The uniform scrubbing particles dislodge and remove dead skin cells effortlessly, and without irritating the skin. I use a light hand as I massage the moisturizing and nourishing scrub into my skin, and after a few seconds I let the scrub sit on my face undisturbed (for a few minutes). It has been a while since I have tried something new from Mad Hippie, and when I learned about their brand new MicroDERMABRASION Facial, I was quite excited to try it. Their products are effective, cruelty-free, a pleasure to use and affordable.
Mad Hippie MicroDERMABRASION Facial is a seriously effective, and easy to use, exfoliant that utilizes a blend of physical exfoliants, from bamboo and volcanic ash, in concert with 6 different alpha-hydroxy acids and probiotics, to exfoliate dead skin cells. The physical exfoliating particles, which are gentle against the skin, dislodge dead skin cells while the AHAs help to dissolve them. The end result is clean, soft, smooth, glowing skin that is neither irritated, nor stripped.

If I had to select just one treatment to use at the end of this summer it would unquestionably be Baby Foot Exfoliant Foot Peel. My feet took a beating over the last 7 months while I have been working from home. I have some callouses and roughness from walking around on my back patio and through my backyard barefoot. I have used Baby Foot Exfoliant Foot Peel for several years now, and find it tremendously effective. This is the one treatment that I will definitely be doing in the next few weeks.
Baby Foot Exfoliant Foot Peel is an all-natural, foot exfoliant that removes dead skin and callouses unlike anything that I have experienced before. It leaves feet unbelievably soft and smooth without any rigorous effort on your part. The formula features 17 types of natural extracts that allow your feet to exfoliate natural and effectively.
Baby Foot is remarkably easy to use, but should obviously be avoided if you are sensitive to any of the ingredients. It is a very active and effective enzyme peel that makes your feet molt like nothing you have ever seen before. In fact, it is so effective, and the results are so shocking, that I found it too unsightly to post a picture of my feet after they began to peel in sheets!
It is a very easy three step process, but there is a highly effective trick to ramping up the efficacy and for speeding up the results. Before you begin, you need to wash your feet thoroughly, but if you soak your feet in warm water after washing, and before using Baby Foot, your feet will begin to peel sooner and even more thoroughly.
You simply cut along the dotted line and then slip each foot into the pre-moistened plastic lined socks and seal them with the tape that is provided. You may feel a slight tingling sensation at the beginning, but I found that it only lasted for about a minute. Leave Baby Foot on for an hour so that the exfoliant can have the requisite amount of time to work its magic. Then you simply remove the Baby Foot and wash your feet with soap and water to remove all traces of the exfoliating gel.
Dead skin cells generally begin peeling within 3-7 days following your initial application, but mine began to peel the next day, and continued for the following two weeks. Had I soaked my feet a bit longer before application, the duration of my peel time would have been significantly shortened.
Baby Foot asserts that one should not forcibly remove dead skin cells when the peeling process begins, but instead to let It exfoliate gently and naturally. Some people find that their feet become dry before peeling begins, and Baby Foot suggests that they "moisturize lightly and sparingly with an oil-free beauty care product." Peeling time may vary from person to person and can take up to 2 weeks to complete.

I absolutely love a high quality exfoliator, and one with great efficacy that mimics the effects of microdermabrasion– is a sure way to get my attention. My favorite exfoliator in this category, to date, is unquestionably GOLDFADEN MD Doctor's Scrub Ruby Crystal Microderm Exfoliator. I have used many of their products over the years, and I have yet to try anything that I didn't really like from this brand.
GOLDFADEN MD Doctor's Scrub Ruby Crystal Microderm Exfoliator is a very effective exfoliant formulated for all skin including: normal, combination, blemish-prone, dry, mature and sensitive types. The base is densely populated with tiny exfoliating particles that aren't jagged, and therefore they aren't harmful to the skin. However, it should be noted that there is considerable grit to its consistency, and therefore one should use a very light hand, rather than brute force when exfoliating with this scrub (or any scrub for that matter). That it does an exquisite job exfoliating dead skin cells is evident after a single use, and it leaves skin soft, smooth, supple and radiant. Furthermore, unlike many facial scrubs, this one is formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, which helps retain moisture and that helps to plump fine lines. It has no added fragrance, and only the most faint aroma can be detected from the ingredients themselves, but it is unlikely to register for even the most sensitive noses. It should be noted that it is highly concentrated, and therefore the 3.5 oz. jar should last a long time.

While the Menthol, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate is toward the middle of the list of ingredients, it only offers the faintest tingle to the skin, and serves to be refreshing rather than irritating. This scrub is very well-suited for combination to oily skin.

Derma E Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask ($19.50 Derma E, Ulta, Skin Care RX, Skin Store, Walgreens, Target, Beauty Encounter and Birchbox): This 2-in-1 charcoal and clay mask not only draws out impurities, debris and excess sebum as many clay masks do, but it also contains exfoliating particles that sweep away dead skin cells. Simply apply it as a traditional clay mask, let it dry after about 5 minutes, then wet fingers and gently massage mask in a circular motion in order to activate the exfoliant. Skin is left remarkably clean, decongested and radiant. I neither find it stripping, nor uncomfortable on the skin. However, the refreshing peppermint tingle from the Menthyl Lactate, which is an ester of menthol and lactic acid, may be too active for people with particularly sensitive skin. For my normal/combination skin it is refreshing and exhilarating, and not in the least bit drying or irritating.
