I had the opportunity to try their Divine Brightening Mask, and was thrilled by the results. While it unquestionably left my skin with a gorgeous luminous glow and markedly brightened-- I was perhaps even more struck by the profound degree of hydration that my skin experienced after this 30 minute sheet mask. Not only is it loaded with Hyaluronic Acid and Aloe Vera, but it is also filled with all sorts of nourishing extracts that leave skin extraordinarily moisturized, soft and supple. The mask itself is generously filled with serum, and at the end of my 30 minute mask I extracted the remaining serum and massaged it into my face, neck and décolleté. Overall assessment: My first foray into Perfective Ceuticals line left me wanting to try more of the line! As for the Divine Brightening Mask-- it's divine, indeed!

Alaffia's Authentic African Black Soap Unscented is a fantastic multipurpose all natural Certified Fair Trade soap  that is so gentle and effective that it is even suitable for those among us with the most sensitive skin. While this is an unscented version, the black soap itself has a pleasant warm earthy scent that does not linger very long.

Empties Post Volume XXI: May 2014 Edition

May proved to be a productive month for the use of full size products, but in the spirit of full disclosure some of them had been nearly empty for a while, and I only needed to focus in on finishing up what small amounts remained.

Pantene Pro-V Overnight Miracle Serum ( reviewed here): This is an affordable and effective nighttime hair treatment that leaves hair soft, smooth, shiny, and frizz-free!

Perlier Italian Sorbet Limone Refreshing Crackling Ice Body Water (reviewed here): This is a seriously refreshing product. It's like Pop Rocks for the skin, but with a cooling effect. I used up what was left in this bottle (which was actually a fair amount) during the heat spell that we had in LA in May, and it definitely kept my skin refreshed and cool.

Dr. Loretta Rainforest Mist (reviewed here): This is an antioxidant rich moisturizing spray that was likewise used up during the hot days this month. It's very refreshing and it leaves the skin very comfortably hydrated.

Absolutely Natural Skincare Rose Hip Aloe Skin Conditioner & Rehydrator: This is a lovely all natural body lotion that leaves the skin soft, silky and very moisturized. The texture is light, and the smell is very pleasant.

Amlactin Ultra Hydrating Body Cream (reviewed here): Not only is this a rich and hydrating moisturizer, but the alpha-hydroxy based cream is one potent (yet gentle) exfoliant. This cream also works miracles on feet overnight!

Udderly Smooth Udder Cream (reviewed here): This is a greaseless moisturizing cream that is thick and rich- yet it sinks in very quickly and leaves skin very hydrated. It works wonders on very dry skin, and has a light clean scent that quickly fades upon application.

Eucerin Intensive Repair Extra-Enriched Foot Cream (reviewed here): Filled with alpha hydroxy acid, this foot cream makes quick work of repairing dry rough feet. It is very moisturizing, and leaves feet soft and smooth. I love to apply it at night and then wear socks to bed, and after several days of doing this one has sandal-ready feet!

Suki Facial Lift Ultimate Firming Cream (reviewed here and here): Not only is this an amazing anti-aging face cream, but it also serves as one of the best eye creams that I have ever used. It sinks in quickly, and moisturizes and lifts the skin with great efficacy.

Painted Earth Optimum 15% Vitamin C Face Lotion (reviewed here): This is a fantastic hydrating and brightening Vitamin C Face Lotion-- it sinks in quickly, evens out skin tone, and helps to fade sun spots. I love the formula.

TATCHA Luminous Hydrating Lifting Mask (reviewed here): This is a miracle mask! It leaves the skin deeply hydrated, plumps fine lines, and gives skin a noteworthy glow. There is a good reason why TATCHA calls this their red carpet ready mask!

Koh Gen Do Cleansing Water Cloths (reviewed here): These are the most amazing cleansing water cloths! They are gentle, refreshing, and very very effective. I am able to remove all of my eye makeup, remaining foundation, blush and lipstick gently and thoroughly. These are definitely best in class!

Caress Emerald Rush Beauty Bar (reviewed here): This is a very refreshing beauty bar, and is moisturizing enough to use for shaving.

I used a fair number of samples this month, but a good many of them were used on my husband's skin. He ended up overexposed after a few days filled with very long surfing sessions, and the result was a sunburn despite his repeated application of sunscreen. I therefore slathered lots of serums, lotions and creams on him-- among them many of the packets shown here. However, my personal favorites from this pile of samples are the Serge Normant Meta Silk Shampoo, the Oribe Masque for Beautiful Color and the REN Neroli and Grapefruit Body Cream. Of the many packets, the only one that I own in a full size is the Arcona Peptide Hydrating Complex-- and it is a fantastic product that I really do need to review at some point.

Overall I am quite pleased that I was able to toss all of these empties into my recycle been this month!

Overall assessment: By Terry Huile de Rose Nutri-Regenerating Firming-Lift Oil is such a joy to use, and the results exceeded my expectations. This beauty oil has quickly claimed pride of place as one of my all time favorite beauty oils. The scent is so scrumptious that it evokes a powerful visceral reaction in me-- so much so that I wish that I could wear it as a fragrance! Scent aside, it is a truly lovely beauty oil that is as effective as it is a distinct pleasure to use. I'm completely smitten. This was money very well spent!

Kiwi Glow Daily Skin Oil Moisturizers in Amaya, Earth and Verde Review & Pictures

Lately I have been obsessed with body oils more than usual. I'm not really sure why what was already an obsession has somehow reached a fever pitch, but it has. Perhaps this need to luxuriate in body oils has something to do with the warm weather, or perhaps it's just that I have more body oils that I just can't keep my hands off of because they are so spectacular, and because their tantalizing scents and lovely textures beckon me.

The newest body oils to make it to my top daily picks are the Kiwi Glow Daily Skin Oil Moisturizers in Amaya, Earth and Verde. These lightweight organic oils are such an amazing find-- they are utterly delectable smelling, they sink in quickly and leave the skin lusciously hydrated, and are reasonably priced. Furthermore, my skin has never glowed so beautifully and felt so good. The generously sized 4 oz. bottles have a pump dispenser that keeps the contents protected against contamination while making them spill proof, fuss proof, and easy to carry.

According to Kiwi Glow,

We only use simple, natural ingredients to create our daily skin oil. Honestly! Pure, organic, cold-pressed sesame–known for its healing properties and skin benefits–is the foundation of this luxurious, lightweight oil. According to Kiwi Glow,

Daily Skin Oil in Amaya is a splendid warm floral with flashes of lily of the valley. Kiwi Glow describes it as having "hints of dandelion and lily of the valley" and conjures images of "lovely subtle petals on your body." It is a delightful light floral that only leaves behind the slightest traces of scent once it sinks in. It is so light that it will in no way interfere with any other scents that you may choose to wear.

Daily Skin Oil in Earth is a deep woodsy earthy scent smells more of frankincense and less of patchouli, and while the scent is stronger and more pungent than Amaya or Verde, it quickly softens and fades once it sinks into the skin. Kiwi Glow describes it as having "hints of frankincense, patchouli and vanilla" that together become a "lovely subtle musk on your body." I was concerned that Earth would be too earthy for my taste, but it turns out to be perfectly balanced and utterly delectable once it sinks into my skin.

Daily Skin Oil in Verde is gorgeous fresh green scent offset by citrus, and it is so refreshing and uplifting that it puts a smile on my face each time that I use it. Kiwi Glow describes it as a fresh scent with a "sweet citrus aroma that is not overbearing." I agree that it isn't in the least bit overbearing, and in fact once it sinks into the skin it becomes a subtle and barely perceptible fresh scent.

Ingredients: Organic unrefined cold-pressed sesame oil, an abundance of vitamin E and natural plant-derived fragrance oils. Fully cured to ensure purity.

I love great shaving products and I love oils-- so a shaving oil is just the type of product to pique my interest. I must also note that I love the fact that both products have a short list of healthy ingredients that I feel good about putting on my skin.

My experience: Used alone, Hydrate H20 Mineral Rich Mountain Spring Water Spray is a very refreshing and hydrating spray. It emits a very fine mist that delivers the perfect amount of product. Used in conjunction with the Mattifying Red Clay Mask, Hydrate H20 Mineral Rich Mountain Spring Water Spray moistens clean skin just enough to serve as the perfect base for the mask. I spray a very thin veil of the water on my freshly cleaned skin and then apply the Mattifying Red Clay Masque to my moistened skin and allow it to dry completely. Once I remove it my skin is left balanced, radiant and it draws out impurities and unclogs the pores beautifully! Not only is it a highly effective clay mask, but the air tight container assures that it stays fresh, uncontaminated, and that it never dries out and hardens.

The Christine Shampoo: is a sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoo that has been meticulously formulated with the highest quality ingredients available. Together these ingredients  gently cleanse the scalp without the use of harsh chemicals that often irritate the scalp, strip essential oils, and have a drying effect on the hair and scalp. According to Van Thomas Concepts, this nourishing and cleansing formula uses "a micro lather technology combined with the Life Complex, grape seed and apricot oils" that lend themselves to a thorough cleansing while providing hair with added shine. The Christine Shampoo employs the use of black current oil and essential Omega-6 fatty acids "to promote healthy hair growth and to add a revitalizing quality. The Christine Shampoo is designed for all hair types, no matter the cut, color, or style."

My naturally curly hair really does very well with this non-stripping gentle formula. After shampooing my hair, it is left nourished, hydrated, and manageable. Furthermore, neither my hair nor my scalp are left in the least bit dried out.

The Christine Reconstructive Conditioner: is an innovative reconstructive conditioner that "is the most potent of the Christine line of products. Formulated with the highest amount of the Life Complex, the deeply penetrating conditioner also includes hemp seed oil, aloe vera extract, grape seed oil and nourishing olive fruit oil, designed to hydrate, restore and repair hair. Gentle yet luxurious, the enriching conditioner replenishes nutrients, proteins and oils vital to healthy, shiny hair. This leaves a subtle scent of citrus and primrose. It is the answer to preventing split ends, breakage and maintaining healthy hair."

The Christine Reconstructive Conditioner is just amazing! This unsuspecting bottle of pure hair goodness works miracles on my dry curly hair, and has quickly become one of my favorite conditioners. My hair is left soft, shiny, nourished and infinitely manageable. The citrus and primrose scent is delectable, but does not tend to linger for very long. I experimented with The Christine Reconstructive Conditioner by leaving it on for 30 minutes (under a towel) to see whether it could approximate the experience of a deep conditioning treatment, and it really delivered! The results were indistinguishable from the best deep conditioning products that I have used before, and I was thrilled to see how and feel how soft and manageable it left my hair.
