The Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss formula is a thing of great beauty because the formula, texture, color saturation, opacity, shine, and wear-time are nothing short of extraordinary.

Application: Apply directly or use an Illamasqua Lip Brush. (I believe that Illamasqua has changed the lip gloss tube to one with a traditional doe foot wand applicator).

Bella Donna, described as a Deep Pink, is a very richly pigmented blue-based deepened pink with a hint of fuchsia. The combination of the deeply saturated color, thicker texture, and full opaque coverage makes Bella Donna more of a "liquid lipstick" with a gorgeous shine than a traditional lip gloss.

It applies evenly and flawlessly at every application, and it does so without any feathering or bleeding. It has a delectable rich and creamy finish with a beautiful shine that lasts much longer than any lip gloss that I have ever tried. I find the longevity of Bella Donna to rival even the best lipsticks, and I was astounded by its ability to deliver between 6-8 hours of wear-time. About midway through the shine abates, but one is left with a luminous full coverage highly pigmented color. When it does begin to fade, it does so evenly-- so there is no unsightly patchy appearance. Furthermore, this is a non-sticky lip gloss that while thicker than many remains very comfortable on the lips. I actually find it to be a hydrating formula-- which is always a huge bonus for me. I detected  the slightest pleasant scent/taste, that was faintly reminiscent of fruit or flowers, but it fades so quickly that I can never quite pinpoint what it reminds me of before vanishes altogether. Therefore, if you have an aversion to scented/flavored lip products this one should give you no trouble.

Here I have shown Bella Donna with Illamasqua Eye Colouring Pencil in Seize (reviewed here) because I was struck by the perfect pairing of bold and vibrant hues.

Overall assessment: Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Bella Donna is an intense lip gloss, indeed. This formula manages to offer the best of what lipsticks and lip glosses have to offer, but does so with greater intensity, longevity, and color-saturation than the many hybrid products and liquid lipsticks on the market. Bella Donna is a hauntingly beautiful color that is at once bold while remaining a timeless classic shade. Simply and utterly extraordinary.

Illamasqua Eye Colouring Pencil in Seize: Review & Swatches

I truly love everything about Illamasqua-- from founder and owner Julian Kynaston's egalitarian approach to beauty, and his belief in the enhancement of what makes each of us distinct and individual (rather than a homogenous version of some unattainable standard of beauty), to the breathtaking color palette upon which Illamasqua consistently embarks. There is something for everyone here-- from those bold expressive souls who comfortably wear teal lipstick to those for whom a demure nude lip is the ultimate in self-expression. I spent a great deal of time talking with Julian, something I will tell you more about very soon, and I was very taken by his wit, intelligence, and his visionary approach to his company. Illamasqua products are of the highest quality making them the obvious choice in the kits of so many of the leading professional makeup artists. The breadth and range of products, with colors from every spectrum of the rainbow, make this line the ultimate treat for artists (whether professional or aspiring).

Illamasqua's Eye Colouring Pencils are long-wearing, boast richly saturated color, and they glide on and blend effortlessly.  Seize, described as a Blue Violet, is an utterly stunning shade. It is one of those colors that is so beautiful and perfectly balanced-- it's not too blue, not too purple, and doesn't have  such a pronounced red undertone as to make eyes look tired. It is one of those shades that tends to be favored by people with green or hazel eyes because of its ability to highlight and accentuate those golden and green shades spectacularly well. That said, I think that Seize will appeal to just about anyone, and with a variety of eye colors. It works beautifully smudged into the lower lash line, or used on the top lid to create a strikingly articulated wing. Illamasqua Cream Pigment- Hollow Review & Swatches

If you are a cream eye shadow fan, as am I, it is worth taking a look at Illamasqua's Cream Pigments. Sephora currently offers only 4 shades, but you can see the other colors Illamasqua makes here. I chose Hollow, which is described as a Toffee color because I was looking for a lovely barely-there neutral eye shadow to use as a wash of color alone, or as a base.

According to Illamasqua, their Cream Pigments offer an ..."intensely colour-rich, matt and crease-resistant formula...designed for use on the face, eyes, lips and body. Apply with an Illamasqua brush or simply use your fingers for a buildable, water-resistant, highly pigmented finish."

 

Tips for use: "This advanced formulation provides additional adhesion and colour-intensification when applied before Powder Eye Shadow and Pure Pigment. The product can be used sheer or built to full coverage. Apply with a longer bristle brush to achieve a sheer colour and texture payoff whereas selecting a flat brush will deposit more colour density and texture payoff."

I find application easy with my finger or with a brush. The formula is super creamy, and easy to apply and doesn't budge on me once it sets. I find that it lasts all day without fading or creasing. However, I should note that I do not have oily eyelids- therefore I cannot speak to how long it will wear on those who do. I use it the same way that one would use the MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Creams or MAC Paint Pots, but I do feel as though Illamasqua Cream pigment is a bit more emollient with a bit more slip which makes application positively effortless. Don't get me wrong, I have a huge stash of Paint Pots and Aqua Creams, and I love and use them both all of the time. Because this is a multipurpose product you can easily use it on the face and body, and Hollow is a perfect shade to use for contouring.
