I love drinking coffee, tea and occasionally red wine, and these are three of the main culprits that stain the teeth. Therefore, I have to periodically use whitening strips to remove the stains they leave behind. It is minty fresh, makes my teeth feel very clean and it uses natural ingredients to help remove coffee, tea and red wine stains. Whitening toothpastes are often too harsh for my sensitive teeth, but thankfully this one isn't.

Lumineux Whitening Strips ($40.00 for 14-pack from Lumineux, Walmart, Amazon, Target and iHerb): My dentist charges a small fortune for in-office teeth whitening, and of course none of this type of treatment is covered by insurance. Therefore I tend to use whitening strips when my teeth need stain removal. Many commercial over-the-counter whitening strips are uncomfortable or painful for my sensitive teeth. Lumineux Whitening Strips do not irritate my sensitive teeth, and they effectively remove stains without harsh chemicals.

It is effective and it doesn't bother my sensitive teeth. Furthermore, the pen easily stows away in a purse or travel bag.

Lumineux Toothbrush ($24.00 for 4-pack from Amazon): This sustainable bamboo toothbrush has soft bristles that are effective and gentle. This toothbrush lives in my travel bag, and I can't say enough good things about it. When I am at home I use a sonic toothbrush, and therefore I am curious to try Lumineux's electric toothbrush.

Luster Pro Light Whitening System

If you are a coffee or tea drinker, then you probably have a notable yellowing of your teeth that could use the intervention of a teeth whitening system. I drink both coffee and tea, and therefore I definitely use teeth whiteners to help mitigate the effects of those teeth staining beverages.

Luster Pro Light Whitening System features the latest technology for very easy at-home teeth whitening. It includes their patented Dual Power Xenon Pro Light that accelerates the whitening process and that is fun to use!

How to use:

- The first thing that I do is brush my teeth with their Pro-Anticavity Toothpaste
- After I finish brushing, I then use Accelerince– which one uses much like a mouthwash. I just swish it around my mouth for about 10-15 seconds.
- Paint each tooth with the Stain Lifting Serum on teeth (it takes about 20 seconds to do)
- Turn on the battery operated Dual-Energy Xenon Whitening Light and place it in your mouth. It includes a 2- minute timer, and therefore there is no guesswork involved.

From start to finish it takes well under 10 minutes to go through this entire process, and it is fuss-free. Luster Premium White suggests that their Xenon device works three times faster than the typical LED devices on the market, and while I can't verify that (since I don't have an LED version), I can say that this one is quite effective. They include a color strip so that you can compare your before and after shots to establish the extent to which it has whitened your stained teeth. They say that your teeth will be whitened "up to 6 shades in 30 minutes"– which I interpret to mean 15 applications at 2 minutes per time.

I definitely noticed that my teeth became decidedly whitened after using it for a few weeks, and will definitely continue to use it to continue to remove my coffee and tea stains. I should note that I have sensitive teeth and that many whitening systems are too strong for me. Therefore, my results tend to be slower because I seldom use such systems at the suggested intervals, but this system definitely does work for me.

Luster Premium White AM/PM Toothpaste kit is an affordable over-the-counter whitening system that freshens breath and whitens teeth. The kit includes a toothpaste for the morning and a toothpaste for nighttime, and they are both gentle and effective. I have sensitive teeth and often find that whitening systems (from strips to toothpastes) can be too harsh for me, but I am pleased that this isn't the case with Luster's AM and PM toothpastes.

I drink coffee and tea, and while not in excess, I do consume enough to impact the color of my teeth. Using this kit has definitely made a difference, and my teeth do look more white after using this kit for a couple of weeks. Luster claims that you will notice a difference after just three days, but I was so busy at work that I wasn't paying a lot of attention to my teeth the first few days of use, and therefore I can't say whether there was a notable difference in the first three days that I used these toothpastes. The AM Toothpaste is a blue minty gel, and the PM Toothpaste is a white minty paste. The former is a bit more mild than the latter– which is definitely a stronger overnight toothpaste  formulated to really target pesky stains.

Crest 3D White Whitestrips Whitening + Therapy Dental Whitening Kit

There is no question that I make every effort to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and that I wear high SPF sunscreens whenever I go outdoors, but living in Southern California means that exposure to the sun is inevitable. While I avoid tanning, to protect my skin against skin cancer and accelerated aging, my skin does get darker during the summer months, and if my teeth are in the least bit coffee and tea stained it is very obvious. Therefore, when I notice them yellowing, I tend to reach for some sort of teeth whitening product. What complicates this for me is the fact that I have very sensitive teeth, and therefore heavy duty teeth whiteners tend to be far too aggressive for me, and will most often leave my teeth aching and sensitive for days to weeks. Thus, I often approach teeth whiteners with considerable trepidation, and I generally can neither use them for the prescribed period of time, nor for the number of consecutive days recommended to maximize their efficacy. That said, I have been testing Crest 3D White Whitestrips Whitening + Therapy Dental Whitening Kit, and have had good results.

Crest 3D White Whitestrips Whitening + Therapy Dental Whitening Kit contains 14 Crest 3D White Whitestrips that are formulated to remove stains from the teeth and the Crest 3D White Enamel Strengthening Serum Toothpaste that you use afterward to strengthen enamel. Crest suggests that these Whitestrips will remove six years worth of stains, and that the Crest 3D White Enamel Strengthening Serum Toothpaste will both, "nourish teeth and strengthen enamel." I cannot vouch as to whether or not they remove up to six years worth of stains because I don't have six years of stains on my teeth, but I am a daily coffee and tea drinker– therefore I drink two of the greatest causes of stained teeth. Crest suggests that for best results one should leave the Whitestrips on for 30 minutes and use them for 14 days in a row, and while I can do the former, I simply cannot do the latter. I do not find that these Whitestrips are too strong for me to use, but I can only use them for about 4-5 days in a row before needing to take a break for a day or two. That said, I used up this entire kit, and while it took me more than two weeks to do, I definitely noted that it significantly whitened my teeth, and it did so without making my teeth ache. In fact, I found this kit so effective that I plan to purchase another set as soon as I require more teeth whitening.

Directions: Crest Whitestrips: Use once a day for 30 minutes. After removing the strips, brush teeth with the Enamel Strengthening Serum Toothpaste.

If you have sensitive teeth, and have had trouble finding a peroxide-free whitener that actually works, then POPWHITE is a brand worthy of your consideration. It is a nice alternative to conventional whitening strips– which often are too aggressive for sensitive teeth. I have fairly sensitive teeth, but I can tolerate some conventional whitening strips, but I find that POPWHITE is far more gentle on my teeth, and it never triggers any sensitivity whatsoever. I have found that it takes a little longer to work than conventional whiteners, but it is definitely worth it of me since it is much kinder to my teeth.

About POPWHITE,

POPWHITE uses color correction, not peroxide. Due to the nature of color perception, complementary colors, such as purple and yellow, cancel each other out. POPWHITE features multi-benefit oral care products infused with a proven purple formula to reduce the visibility of yellow dental stains.

Conventional whitening products rely on peroxide, a type of bleach. In order to whiten teeth, peroxide breaks up stain molecules in dental enamel. However, in doing so peroxide wears down the enamel and causes tooth sensitivity.

It is important to note that it does not stain the teeth or gums.

Overall Assessment: I really appreciate this whitening system since it is effective and it is gentle on my sensitive teeth. It is peroxide-free, gluten-free, vegetarian and it is manufactured in the USA.

Pur-Lisse Blue Lotus Essential Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 (Deluxe Sample. Full Size $55.00):  I am always looking for high quality sunscreens, and am very pleased to have this to test out.
