November 2022 Face, Body & Hair Product Empties

Press Sample & Purchased (Affiliate Links)

During the month of November, I managed to finish 8 products– of which 7 were full-size and one a travel-size. Unlike last month, where I didn't finish a single face product, I managed to finish 4 of them in November. Here is what I managed to finish:

Spongellé Love Always | Bulgarian Rose Heart Buffer ($14.00 from Spongellé):  Spongelle’s Love Always Heart Buffer in Bulgarian Rose is utterly delectable. The size is perfect for home or travel, and it effectively cleanses and exfoliates the skin. Their body wash infused buffers are a treat to the skin and the senses, and their Bulgarian Rose is one of my all-time favorite scents! Purchase Again? Oh, definitely!

Fragrance Notes:

  • Top: Cinnamon Sticks, Sliced Ginger, Sweet Clove, Juicy Orange
  • Middle: Tuberose
  • Base: Whipped Vanilla, Cozy Musk

Walton Wood Farm Warm Cranberry Shea Butter Soap ($8.99 for 3.5 oz from Walton Wood Farm): This delicious cranberry scented soap smells like the holidays! It has a wonderful lather, and rather than drying out skin the shea butter moisturizes and pampers the skin. Purchase Again? Once I finish up a few more of my bar soaps, I will definitely!

RITUALS Yogi Flow Foaming Shower Gel (Discontinued scent): This is yet another masterpiece from Rituals, and this is not an exaggeration. Their Foaming Shower Gels are decadent things of beauty, and once you try them you will be hooked. The gel formula turns into a dense and rich foam upon contact with water. It is highly concentrated so a little goes a very long way, and it not only cleanses skin effectively, but it leaves skin soft, supple and moisturized. Furthermore, it doubles as one of the most effective and emollient shaving creams that effortlessly facilitates a very close shave. The scent is a gorgeous fusion of Indian Rose and Sweet Almond Oil, and this exotic blend not only leaves the skin with a sensual veil of fragrance, but it also leaves the bathroom smelling delectable. Purchase Again? I would in a heartbeat, but they seem to have discontinued this scent.

Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water Wipes ($62.00 for a 3-pack from Sephora, Dermstore, Macy's, Amazon, Violet Grey and Neiman Marcus): My eyes can be particularly sensitive when it comes to makeup and makeup removers, and I have even found many so-called gentle eye makeup removers to be very irritating to my eyes. When I was first introduced to Koh Gen Do's Cleansing Water and Cleansing Water Cloths I assumed that I would be disappointed as I had been so many times before. However, much to my surprise these products actually lived up to the claims made (in fact exceeded them). Not only did my eyes not sting, but it removes all traces of makeup, and the surrounding skin was left feeling soft and supple. Purchase Again? Without a doubt, I love these fabulous wipes, they are by far the best that I have ever used.

Tatcha Polished Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder ($68.00 for 2.1 oz from Tatcha, and Sephora): I'm just so incredibly impressed by Tatcha in general, and really believe that they make some of the very finest skincare products on the market. Tatcha Polished Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder is a very effective, yet a remarkably gentle, exfoliating cleanser. I really enjoy the metamorphosis from powder to paste, and the routine itself is immensely pleasurable. There is just enough grit to the texture of this refined and silky paste to loosen and remove all debris and dirt. Purchase Again? I have a full size jar that I recently opened. This is a refillable travel size, and I will refill it for my next out-of-town trip.

Derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub ($32.50 for 2 oz. from Ulta): This is a wonderfully effective facial scrub. This exfoliator features tiny, and densely populated, exfoliating particles suspended in a creamy base that has enough grit to sweep away dead skin cells effortlessly. The formula is gentle, effective and non-stripping. Skin is left soft, silky smooth, supple and refreshed. It is a very concentrated formula– so this 2 oz. jar should last a long time unless you are using it on your face and body. Derma e suggests that it can be used on your hands, elbows, feet, knees– or anywhere you need to exfoliate rough skin, and I definitely agree that it is quite effective on rough skin in those regions as well. Purchase Again? I just opened another new jar!

Phytomer Rosée Visage Toning Cleansing Lotion ($40.00 for 8.4 oz. from Phytomer and SkinStore): This two-in-one gentle makeup remover and toner, with the lovely scent of rosewater, gently and effectively cleanses and removes makeup without drying or irritating the skin, and it doesn't leave behind an oily film. The alcohol-free formula effectively removes dirt, debris, oil and makeup without causing any skin irritation. When I use resilient waterproof makeup, however, I definitely prefer using a duo-phase eye makeup remover to breakdown and remove my makeup, but this definitely removes non-waterproof eye makeup formulas with ease. Purchase Again? At some point I will, but I already miss using it!

Royal Locks Curl Quench Conditioner ($19.50 for 12 oz. from Royal Locks): This lightweight, and ultra-emollient, conditioner is incredibly nourishing and hydrating, and it gives curly and wavy hair all of the pampering and moisture that it needs, but without ever weighing it down and leaving it feeling greasy. It fights frizz and fly-aways and leaves curls bouncy and supple. It has a light, and pleasant, aroma, but it is neither long-lasting, nor in the least bit cloying. Purchase Again? I have to go through quite a few bottles of conditioner before I need to buy another, but I will definitely consider purchasing this lovely conditioner in the future.

Overall Assessment: I am pleased with my progress toward using open products before they go bad! What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in November? Do you have any faves or duds to report?

Phytomer CITYLIFE Ultra-Cleansing Flash Peel | Review

 Press Sample (Unaffiliated Links)

Phytomer CITYLIFE Ultra-Cleansing Flash Peel is a foaming facial peel that bubbles as it exfoliates dead skin cells. It can be used day or night, and it only takes a mere 30 seconds to work. You simply apply two pumps to clean, dry skin and gently massage– then thoroughly rinse and dry skin. I have been using it every night for a couple of weeks, and it neither stings, nor is it in the least bit unpleasant. There is a light, and pleasant, tickling sensation as the bubbles dissolve, but that is the extent of it for me. It does have a light fruity-floral aroma, but it isn't overpowering, and it thoroughly rinses away without a trace.

Once I rinse, I immediately note how soft, smooth, supple and radiant it leaves my skin.  It is gentle enough for daily use, and my skin can be finicky and sensitive, and it is so easy to use. Furthermore, unlike many peels this one is fuss-free, easy to use, and it does not require a big time-commitment.
According to Phytomer,

CityLife Ultra-Cleansing Flash Peel is a new 30 second step that transforms daily cleansing into an exfoliating, detoxifying, facial treatment. After cleansing, pat skin dry and apply two pumps of Flash Peel foam and massage as the bubbles melt. Seconds later, rinse to reveal a smooth, soft, revitalized complexion totally free of toxins and pollutants thanks to exfoliating enzymes and our CitySafe Complex.

Directions: Use morning or evening after makeup removal. Apply two pumps to perfectly clean and dry skin, on the face and neck and gently massage into skin, avoiding the eye contour area. Leave on the skin for 30 seconds, then rinse well with water.

I have tested this cream on my arms and legs, and it really makes the skin look and feel wonderful. If you are sensitive to Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Iodine, or any of the listed ingredients, then this product should be strictly avoided. Empties Post Volume L: December 2016

 Press Sample/Purchased (Affiliate Links)

With very few exceptions, nearly everything that I finished up this month came out of my shower. While I am still rounding up my mostly used up products, and while I continue to make a concerted effort to use them up– in December it is clear that the products that were the easiest to finish up were the ones that were accumulating in my shower.

LUMENE Refreshing Cleansing Foam (Reviewed HERE): This is a refreshing, foaming cleanser that is best for use on normal to combination skin. It thoroughly cleanses, without stripping, and it leaves skin bright and clean.

Manuka Secrets Cleanse (Reviewed HERE): is a non-lathering daily cream cleanser that leaves skin thoroughly cleansed and ultra moisturized. It contains nourishing ingredients like Almond Oil, Manuka Honey and Shea Butter that moisturize and protect the skin, and it removes every bit of makeup without stripping the skin. If you have dry skin, or if the colder weather is wreaking havoc on your skin, then this is a great cleanser to try.  It has a warm and earthy scent that is delightful.

Manuka Secrets Day Creme (Reviewed HERE): is a very lightweight and fast absorbing antioxidant-rich daytime moisturizer that provides long-lasting intensive hydration. Manuka Honey soothes and softens the skin, Hyaluronic Acid binds moisture and plumps fine lines, Shea Butter deeply moisturizes, and CoQ10 supports skin's natural regeneration. It leaves skin soft, supple, hydrated and luminous. The earthy scent only lingers for a few minutes before it fades away.

Trader Joe's Moisturizing Cream Shave in Honey Mango: This remains an absolute staple in our household, and I buy them four at a time. The formula is ultra-moisturizing and creamy, but it does not clog up your razor. It smells delectable, and it leaves skin soft and silky-smooth. Already purchased several more tubes!

J.R. Watkins Coconut Scented Room Refresher (Reviewed HERE): This is the perfect pick-me up to give your house a fresh scent. Coconut Scented Room Spray eliminates odors in any room of the house, and is great if you have pets. In addition to using this throughout my house, I love to spritz it near my kitty litter box, and it really does the trick.

TOM FORD Tobacco Vanille Eau de Parfum: This is an utterly intoxicating, rich and sensual fragrance. The warm, smoky tobacco is warmed up by the vanilla, and it is one of my most coveted fragrances. I bought a large bottle, and am savoring every drop.

Inspired by an English gentlemen’s club, redolent with spice, this reinvention of a classic fragrance genre fuses creamy tonka bean, vanilla, cocoa, dry fruit accords, and sweet wood sap for a modern, opulent, and almost heady impression.

Mirai Clinical Formula Body Spritzer (Reviewed HERE): This body spritzer is intended to keep you dry and to provide superior levels of deodorant protection. It works quite well under the arms, and on the on the feet, and the light grapefruit scent is neither cloying, nor overpowering. It comes in a  small and portable pen-sized spray tube that makes it ultra convenient to use.
Whole Foods Market 365 Fragrance Free Conditioner (Reviewed HERE): The Whole Foods Market's 365 Everyday Value line of shampoos and conditioners are really fantastic quality, and they were revamped earlier in the year making them even better than before. They are very affordable, and you can pick them up easily if you shop at Whole Foods.

Hask Kalahari Oil Color Protection Conditioner (Reviewed HERE): This is a very nourishing conditioner that not only protects and preserves color-treated tresses, but it also leaves hair nourished, manageable, shiny, detangled and frizz-free!

Surya Brasil Sapien Women Leave-In Conditioner (Reviewed HERE): This leave-in deeply conditions the hair, and leaves it shiny and silky. Additionally, it effectively fights frizz and fly-aways.

Honor Haircare Mask: This is a very, very rich deep conditioner, and only the tiniest amount is needed. I mistakenly used a large amount the first time that I tried it, and it was way too much. I had to rewash my hair to remove it, and once I used the right amount I really loved how it deeply moisturized my hair.

Giovanni 2 Chic Blackberry & Coconut Mix Leave-In Conditioning & Styling Elixir (Reviewed HERE): High quality leave-In conditioners are a remarkably effective way to nourish the hair, to make it manageable, and to fight frizz and fly-aways. It is an essential step for my often unruly hair, and I have had great success with this formula. It effectively detangles, fights frizz, and leaves my hair soft and silky-smooth.  The delicious coconut oil and blackberry aroma lingers for about an hour before fading away.

Novex Bamboo Sprout Extra Deep Hair Care Treatment Cream Mask (Featured HERE): I am a huge proponent deep conditioners, and was looking forward to trying this one out, but as is often the case a single test packet doesn't provide enough product to form a meaningful opinion.
ECO Body Wash Grapefruit + Rosehip Oil (Reviewed HERE): If you love refreshing grapefruit scented body products, then this is a great choice. The scent is uplifting and delicious, but not overpowering, and the formula is non-drying on the skin. Furthermore, this product is free of sulphates and parabens– which I tend to seek out. I definitely intend to purchase a bottle when I finish this one up.

Trader Joe's Hand Soap in Lavender & Chamomile: This is a staple in our house, and I tend to buy them 3 or 4 at a time. It has a very light scent that is a pleasant fusion of the lavender and chamomile that I find quite soothing. It is ultra gentle, non-stripping and thoroughly cleansing. Absolute unmitigated A+

KORRES Chamomile Softening Soap (Reviewed HERE): is a mild, and very gentle,  glycerin-based cleansing soap that was developed for use on the face and body. It has a lovely light floral scent that isn't in the least bit cloying, and it forms a nice lather that leaves skin thoroughly cleansed and almost squeaky clean without feeling in the least bit stripped. I have tried it on my face, body and hands, but tend to prefer using multipurpose soaps on my body and hands. It did, however, do a lovely job thoroughly cleaning my face without leaving it taut or uncomfortable. This bar also works very well for shaving legs and armpits!

Phytomer Seaweed Soap (Reviewed HERE): I have fallen madly in love with this Seaweed Soap, and I definitely need to buy another bar because I miss it already! It does a remarkably efficient job of sweeping away dead skin cells, but it is so gentle that I can use it every single day. I was initially astonished by the extent to which it leaves my skin velvety soft and silky smooth, but now that I have become accustomed to its exemplary performance I cannot imagine myself without it. I don't store it in the shower because I like to allow it to dry out thoroughly between uses.

Cetaphil Eczema Calming Body Wash (Reviewed HERE): I absolutely love this body wash! It is an ultra-gentle soap-free cleanser that has a satisfying lather. It neither strips the skin, nor does it leave behind a residue, but instead it gently and thoroughly cleanses the skin. My skin is left soft, supple and moisturized.
Baby Foot Exfoliant Foot Peel (Reviewed HERE): This is my second time using the Baby Foot Exfoliant Foot Peel, and it is by far the most effective foot feel that I have tried. Baby Foot Exfoliant is an all-natural, foot exfoliant that removes dead skin and callouses unlike anything that I have experienced before. It leaves feet unbelievably soft and smooth without any rigorous effort on your part. The formula features 17 types of natural extracts that allow your feet to exfoliate natural and effectively.

Baby Foot is remarkably easy to use, but should obviously be avoided if you are sensitive to any of the ingredients. It is a very active and effective enzyme peel that makes your feet molt like nothing you have ever seen before. In fact, it is so effective, and the results are so shocking, that I found it too unsightly to post a picture of my feet after they began to peel in sheets!

Youngblood Minerals in the Mist in Relax (Reviewed HERE): Gives skin a moisture boost with these facial mists. Infused with pure essential oils and vitamins to protect and hydrate skin. Use after cleansing to lock in moisture and after makeup application to set foundation. This fantastic spray contains "vital minerals such as Hematite, Rodalite, and Zincite that provide protection for skin cells, rejuvenate skin tissue, and acts as pure cell energizers." Relax feels unbelievably great on the skin, and it truly has a calming aromatherapeutic quality that leaves you with a sense of well-being, and it does so while making your skin look and feel great!

Spongellé Ginger Bergamot Body Wash Infused Buffer (Reviewed HERE): is dual-sided body wash-infused sponge with the delightful scent that is best described as a warm citrus. Unlike their You Have My Heart on a String body buffer, this one has the same non-abrasive texture on both sides. While it lacks the exfoliator on one side, it still offers enough friction to exfoliate dead skin cells.

What did you use up, toss out, giveaway or return in December? Any real winners or duds to report?

Phytomer Souffle Marin Cleansing Foaming Cream and Rosée Visage Toning Cleansing Lotion for Gorgeous Skin | Review

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)
Phytomer, a quintessential French skincare line that has been making high quality skincare for 40 years, uses the most active marine ingredients that deliver real results, and their products are a true joy to use. If you love French skincare and makeup, then you really need to try their products. Understated, utilitarian packaging houses extraordinary formulas– for which the French are known. My latest discovery from Phytomer is one of their wonderful cleansers and toners, and neither disappoint!
Souffle Marin Cleansing Foaming Cream ($44.50 for 5 oz. from Phytomer and SkinStore): This is a scrumptiously creamy, and lightly foaming cleanser, that thoroughly cleanses the skin without ever stripping it. It works well alone, or with a cleansing brush (such as a FOREO LUNA or a Clarisonic), and it leaves skin soft and radiant. According to Phytomer,

On contact with water, SOUFFLE MARIN Cleansing Foaming Cream transforms into an airy foam to offer the skin all the benefits of the seaside. The skin breathes freely and is perfectly cleansed.

This silky cleansing cream envelops the skin in a wave of freshness, offering all the beneficial properties of the sea. When combined with water, it transforms into a light foam that reveals a perfectly cleansed skin and a radiant complexion.

According to Phytomer,

Cleanse, tone and prep your skin with Phytomer Rosee Visage Toning Cleansing Lotion. Phytomer Seaweed Soap and Oléocrème Ultra-Moisturizing Body Milk for Sumptuous Summer Skin

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

During the springtime I tend to become even more obsessed with skincare than usual. There is something about the renewal associated with the season, coupled with the warmer weather, that makes me want to exfoliate and hydrate to achieve warm-weather silky-smooth skin. My latest discoveries in body care are from the wonderful French line, Phyomer, that is carried in day spas, resort spas and medical spas all over the world. It is a wonderful line that definitely should be firmly fixed on your radar.

Phytomer Seaweed Soap ($23.50 for 5.2 oz. from PhytomerSkinStore and Beauty.com): I have fallen madly in love with this Seaweed Soap.

Phytomer's Seaweed Soap is a 100% natural cleanser that acts as a massage glove, gently exfoliating built up debris while relaxing the skin and body. Formulated with natural marine extracts that fill the bath with an invigorating aroma, it gently removes dead cells and helps make the skin supple. Can be used on a daily basis.

Ingredients: Sodium Palmate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Water, Chondrus Scrispus (Carrageenan), Fragrance, Glycerin, Palm Acid, Sodium Thiosulfate, Sodium Chloride, Palm Kernel Acid, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Benzyl Benzoate, Geraniol, Limonene, Citronellol, Citral, Linalool, Benzyl Salicylate, Hexyl Cinnamal, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77007 (Ultramarine), CI 77289 (Chromium Hydroxide Green).
Phytomer Oléocrème Ultra-Moisturizing Body Milk ($54.00 for 8.4 oz. from Phytomer and SkinStore): This has one of those scrumptious light citrusy-floral scents that is neither cloying, nor long lasting– therefore it will not interfere with any fragrances that you might like to wear. It has a lightweight and thin consistency, but this is one seriously nourishing and fast absorbing hydrator. Thanks to the nourishing oils and Shea Butter, this body milk leaves skin deeply nourished, soft, supple and hydrated. It pairs perfectly with their Seaweed Soap, and I definitely plan to purchase both as soon as I use them up.

Phytomer Oléocrème Ultra-Moisturizing Body Milk combines the comfort of a cream with the lightness of a body milk to bring you a deeply hydrating lotion. Infused with moisturizing and lipid-replenishing ingredients, the luxurious formula visibly plumps skin with lasting, morning-to-night hydration for softer, smoother skin. Citrus notes mingle with a floral bouquet of iris, rose and jasmine for an aromatic experience.
