Farmaesthetics Sustainable Beauty for Gorgeous Glowing Skin and Healthy Eco-Friendly Skincare Solutions

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

Farmaesthetics makes beautiful products that contain certified organic ingredients that are 100% natural and are cruelty-free. They are dermatologist tested, hypo-allergenic, non-irritating and a true joy to use.

About Farmaesthetics,

Farmaesthetics founder and formulator, Brenda Brock, is the daughter of a 7th generation farming family from Texas. She first made her handmade herbal skincare preparations available to customers in the summer of 1999 at an organic farmstand in rural Rhode Island. Today her full line of 100% natural luxury skincare products are offered in the finest spas and retailers in the world.

A noted trailblazer in "green" beauty, Ms. Brock successfully translated her traditional herbal recipes from "kitchen chemistry" to modern cosmetic manufacturing, resulting in pristine herbal products that retain their 100% natural status yet compare in effectiveness with leading dermatological brands. She was named to TIME MAGAZINE's "Green Style & Design 100: The People & Ideas Behind Today's Most Influential Green Design" and she was named one of "The Purists" in Luxury Spafinder's feature of the "Five Entrepreneurs at the Forefront of the Natural Beauty Revolution". Farmaesthetics was also recognized by WWD, making their "It List" of "The Green Brands Defining Organic Skincare".

With an enduring commitment to "Sustainable Beauty®", all Farmaesthetics skincare products are 100% natural, utilizing time-honored recipes for skin health, and certified organic herbs, flowers, oils and grains from American family farms.
Sweet Milk & Chamomile Flowers Exfoliate ($28.00 for 4 oz. from Farmaesthetics): This beautiful exfoliating cleanser begins its life as an ultra fine powder that achieves a creamy, aromatic lather when mixed with water. The light abrasion, coupled with the lactic acid, gently eliminates and dissolves dead skin cells, unclogs congested pores, and reveals soft, supple and luminous skin. Furthermore, it is neither stripping, nor too abrasive, and is gentle enough to be used every day. It also can be left on the skin as a deeper cleansing mask. The wonderful light Chamomile aroma is calming and very pleasant.

According to Farmaesthetics,

Milk has been used throughout the ages to enhance beauty. It is well known that even Cleopatra used sweet milk for beautifying and brightening her complexion. Traditional rural cultures have also used sweet milk in beauty treatments, making it as familiar on a dressing table as in the kitchen cupboard. When mixed with our Fine Herbal Cleanser, this pristine herbal exfoliate makes a creamy, freshly fragrant lather that is easily applied, to remove tired skin cells. Gentle enough to use in daily cleansing, or apply weekly as a mask to further the effects of the milk's natural lactic acid to soften, brighten and revive the complexion.
Benefits: Natural lactic acid in dried sweet milk, combined with fine cornmeal and ground flowers/orange peel, provides a gentle exfoliate for the face & décolleté.

Directions: Mix with our Fine Herbal Cleanser and apply in circular motion to face and neck; leave on for as little as 3 minutes to see immediate visible benefits. Use also while bathing &, when time to remove exfoliate from face, splash clean, & then gently slip shoulders beneath water, allowing the sweet milk mixture to become a skin-brightening milk bath.

Ingredients:  Dried Powdered Milk*, Fine Yellow Cornmeal & Chamomile Flowers (* indicates certified organic ingredients).
Farmaesthetics Cool Aloe Mist ($26.00 for 4 oz. from Farmaesthetics, Saks Fifth Avenue and Follain): This is a beautiful, multipurpose mist that sets makeup, refreshes the skin any time that you need a little pick-me-up, relieves sunburn, reduces inflammation, and conditions the skin. The wonderful aloe and lavender infusion calms the spirits and gives one a pronounced sense of well-being.

According to Farmaesthetics,

Featured on ABC's The View as a "Beach Bag Must-Have" and voted "Best Post-Workout Skin Freshener" by Fitness Magazine, this simple aloe preparation is a multi-purpose product to restore and protect the skin. Nothing heals or relieves inflamed tissue better than aloe vera and whether from sun-exposure, burns, or exposure to radiation (such as in medical treatments or laser surgery), our Cool Aloe Mist will offer instant relief as well as prevent further drying, peeling, flaking or toughening of skin tissue. Also a noted remedy for hot flashes, this herbal preparation provides immediate relief for the discomforts of hormones in flux.

Aloe has been used since antiquity for its benefits to heal burns and wounds, and recent scientific research has also revealed that aloe has the ability to fight pollution-generating free radicals, as it serves as an effective barrier by activating the body's immune system, triggering detoxification that offsets deterioration of tissue caused by ultraviolet B (UVB) rays & other environmental pollutants.

Benefits:

Toner & Refreshing Skin Re-Hydration Mist for use all over the face & body, at any time to simply refresh & relax. Lavender settles the nerves as well as the skin, while the Bergamot is uplifting.

A Purifying Mist for the skin as well as the air around one's personal space. This herbal combination wards off travel related flu, colds, sinus infections & coughs. Aloe Vera & Lavender together provide moisturizing, anti-bacterial action for the skin & nasal passages, which is important in stale, re-circulated air.

Use:
  • Sets Makeup
  • A Skin Conditioning Complexion Spray, our Cool Aloe Mist relieves inflammation & discomfort inherent in sunburn, laser surgery, over exposure to the elements, acne, & skin flare-ups, & can even help to regulate oil & dry patchiness.
  • Sunburn Remedy - Lavender reduces inflammation, and Aloe Vera rehydrates, while Bergamot disinfects & all together provides a “cooling down” effect.
  • Gentle enough for use on the delicate skin of infants, elderly or ill
Ingredients: Aloe Vera Juice, Witch Hazel, Lavender Essential Oil, Bergamot Essential Oil & Lecithin.
Farmaesthetics Bug Bite Balm ($15.00 from Farmaesthetics): If ever you seek to scare off biting bugs, then this safe and effective formula is precisely what you are looking for. It is perfect for hikes, walking the dog, or going anywhere you are apt to encounter unwanted bug attention. While the Camphor and Peppermint Oil are assertive, they are likewise pleasant and don't overwhelm the senses. I find the aroma invigorating and altogether refreshing.

According to Farmaesthetics,

No matter how good the bugscreen, there will be the inevitable bite. So when the itch is on, we  adhere to the 1-2-3 rule: clean the skin, stop the itch and start the healing response. Our 1-2-3 herbal remedy for bug bites is our Bug Bite Balm, a handy roll-on application of camphor and peppermint essential oils blended with witch hazel to clean, cool and numb the area, increase blood flow which acts as a healing “counterirritant,” and reduce itching and swelling. A simple trifecta of herbal goodness for a quick fix to one of summer’s “inevitables”.

Directions: Apply directly to affected area with roller applicator. Allow to remain on area to cool, calm and numb the sting. And don’t scratch the bite! That will irritate it further.

Ingredients: Witch Hazel, Camphor & Peppermint Essential Oil.

Overall Assessment: Farmaesthetics is a lovely skincare line that deserves your attention. I am so impressed by the three products that I have tried that I most definitely want to further explore this line.

All Good Organic Coconut Oil Skin Food in Lavender ($14.99  for 7.5 oz. from All Good): Coconut Oil is one of the best multitasking natural and nourishing products in my skincare arsenal. I use a small amount on my hair and scalp, and on my whole body. You simple warm a small amount between the palms of your hands and it immediately– then simply massage it into your skin or hair. The lavender scent is delectable and calming, and it is neither cloying, nor overpowering. However, if you have an aversion to lavender, then they have it available in Lemongrass as well.

• Deep moisturizing for skin and hair
• Safe for babies
• Oil pulling to draw out toxins in the body
• So all-natural that it can be eaten

According to All Good,

Dig in, warm your palms together and rub All Good Skin Food all over for instant deep moisturizing organic skincare after a shower, during a massage, or just as a baby is out of the bath.

Coconut oil liquefies at 78º F, so expect variation in this product.  If you like it solid, stick it in the fridge. On warmer days, when it turns into a true “oil”, give it a shake (with the cap on TIGHTLY) before use. When it solidifies, you’ll see peaks and valleys on the surface. No matter the texture or consistency, it’s all good!

Ingredients: Organic Unrefined Virgin Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Organic Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Essential Oil. *Certified Organic to USDA/NOP Standards.
All Good Organic Body Lotion in Lemongrass ($15.99 for 6 oz. from All Good): This thick lotion has the consistency of a body butter or body cream, but it is fast absorbing and leaves behind no greasy or sticky residue. It delivers serious long-lasting moisture, and leaves skin silky soft, supple and radiant. The Lemongrass scent is absolutely delectable, and it lingers for about an hour before fading away.

Benefits & Uses:
• Deep moisturizing
• Safe for babies and everyday use

All Good Lips Original Lip Balm SPF 15 ($3.50 for 4.25g from All Good): I am something of a lip balm fanatic, and tend to use them throughout the day when I need a little moisture, but also tend to use them as bases for lipstick and lip gloss as well. I really like using lip balms with some SPF since shiny lipsticks  and glosses tend to attract the sun, and therefore added protection is imperative. All Good Lips Original Lip Balm SPF 15 leaves lips super moisturized, soft and smooth, and the SPF gives added environmental protection. It has the lovely flavor and scent that is a fusion of the Lavender and the other organic Essential Oils, and it offers a refreshing light tingle when first applied.

According to All Good,

Whether you need a little hydration or a lot of protection, our lip balms is formulated to keep your lips soft and smooth with the most natural, safest ingredients. All SPF flavors are oxybenzone free.

All Good Goop Handcrafted Healing Balm is useful for so many skin conditions, and I tested it on dry irritated skin and chapped lips and was seriously impressed by the results. It quickly healed my chapped skin and lips, and left my traumatized skin soft and moisturized. It has a light lavender scent that is neither cloying, nor in the least bit overpowering.

Glam Up Your Makeup for Fall Naturally with Josie Maran

 Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

While there is no question that I have quite a few beloved chemical-laden beauty products, I also have been increasing the number of healthier options because I sometimes feel a bit squeamish slathering my face with so many chemicals. Gone are the days when natural makeup meant that it only came in boring colors and formulas that were too earthy for mainstream users. Companies like Josie Maran have  created beautiful Cruelty-Free products that don't make you feel as though you are sacrificing luxurious textures and finishes in favor of healthier skin-friendly formulas.
Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Wand ($28.00 for oz. from Josiemaran.comQVC and Sephora): This cream based luminizing wand can be used in the corners of the eyes, on the cheekbones, below the brow bone, or anywhere on the face or body where you want to highlight. The formula is creamy dreamy to work with, and it glides across the skin effortlessly while depositing product evenly. It neither emphasizes fine lines, nor does it accentuate pores. Instead, it offers the perfect luminous finish that captures the light beautifully and subtly. It creates more of a nature glow than anything too glittery.

According to Josie Maran,

The Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Wand brings your inner glow to the surface of your skin, diffusing and reflecting light to create a soft-focus, radiant effect. Argan Oil and Shea Butter bring ultimate nourishment to the skin, while the Enlightenment hue mimics the natural radiance of healthy skin. Madonna Lily and Poet’s Narcissus help to brighten, leaving skin looking radiant and refreshed. Its twist-up, propel/repel packaging is convenient and portable for quick, on-the-go use. Apply this illuminating formula to the inner corner of the eyes, under the brows, cheekbones, bridge of nose, cupid’s bow, and more to lift, define, and highlight.
Ingredients: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil**, Cera Alba (Beeswax)**, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter**, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil*, Narcissus Poeticus (Narcissus) Extract**, Lilium Candidum (Madonna Lily) Bulb Extract**, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract** (and) Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract** (and) Helianthus Anuus (Sunflower) Extract** (and) Tocopherols**, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol. May Contain: Mica (CI 77019)**, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891)**, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499)**, Carmine (CI 75470)**, Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090), Red 6 (CI 15850), Red 7 (CI 15850), Red 22 Lake (CI 45380), Red 27 (CI 45410), Red 28 Lake (CI 45410), Red 30 (CI 73360), Red 33 Lake (CI 17200), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Yellow 6 Lake (CI 15985). *ORGANIC **NATURAL
Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Eye Shadow in Rio de Rose Gold ($18.00 for  0.16 fl. oz. from Josiemaran.comSephora and QVC): Rio De Rose Gold is a stunning shimmering rose gold liquid eyeshadow that actually moisturizes your eyelids while providing a gorgeous luminescent finish. This formal offers buildable coverage, but can be also be sheered out for a faint wash of color. Unlike many liquid eyeshadows that can feel drying once they set, this one feels comfortable of the eyelids. I am able to get 6-8 hours of wear before there is any fading, but I do not have oily eyelids– therefore your wear-time may vary.

According to Josie Maran,

50% Coconut Water, 100% Hydration. Like a refreshing sip of coconut water for your eyes, this pigment-packed liquid shadow instantly makes eyes look and feel more hydrated. It has two layers: one layer of fresh Coconut Water, and one layer of Argan-infused pigments that instantly give eyes a more youthful appearance.

Directions: Shake it and then dab a little bit of shadow directly onto lids with applicator, and fingerpaint to blend. I often tend to dab it onto the back of my hand and then apply it with my finger.

*ORGANIC **NATURAL
Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Lip Stain + Shine in Pink Escape ($22.00 for Stain: 2.2g/0.08 oz Shine: 2.6 g/0.09 oz. from Josiemaran.comSephora and QVC): This double ended lip stain and lip gloss is absolutely stunning, and is just my kind of pink duo! The lip stain is exceedingly long wearing, and once it sets it doesn't budge all day. The softly pointed tip is a very pragmatic design choice since it allows for very precise lining and filling in of the lips. It can be worn alone, or you can layer it beneath the lip gloss for an even more lovely effect.

The lip gloss has slightly thickened consistency with just enough tackiness to be exceedingly long wearing, but without being uncomfortable or sticky. It offers a gorgeous shiny finish, and the color, while fairly pale, does not settle into lip lines.

According to Josie Maran,

Josie Maran’s Coconut Watercolor Lip Stain + Shine is a double-ended lip stain and gloss that work to hydrate lips. Packed with Coconut Water for 14-hour color and cooling hydration, the stain saturates lips with long-wear pigment while the color-matching, Argan-infused gloss creates a pop of shine and antioxidant-rich moisture. Lips are left soft, moisturized, and vibrant for hours—wear each one alone or together for a look that's uniquely you.

Directions: wear them together or alone. Always apply the Coconut Watercolor Lip Stain to clean dry lips. Once the stain has dried on the lips, apply the gloss for a beautiful patent finish.

Gloss Ingredients: Polybutene, Dicalcium Phosphate, Octyldodecanol, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride**, Silica Silylate, Glyceryl Behenate/Eicosadioate, Stearalkonium Bentonite, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-t-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Propylene Carbonate, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil*, Glycerin**, Magnesium Silicate**, Silica**, Phospholipids**, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Juice**. Stain Ingredients: Aqua (Water)**, Glycerin**, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Water*, Butylene Glycol, Sorbitol**, PEG-150, Polysorbate 80, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, PVP, Acacia Senegal Gum**, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Juice**, Ammonium Glycyrrhyizate**, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Saccharin, Sodium Hyaluronate**. Suki Renewal Bio-Resurfacing Facial Peel- Review

Source
One of my readers sent me an email asking me if I could recommend a good fruit peel type of mask that was more natural than so many on the market. She had been using REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask (which I love and reviewed here), but found that she wanted to try something different when she finished up her tube. While she loved the REN mask, she wanted something that could do the same thing, but that dried on your skin- rather than remaining tacky and looking as though you spread orange marmalade all over your face. I love REN's mask, but I also love the Suki Renewal Bio-Resurfacing Facial Peel, and I have been using it for the last 4-5 years- so this review is long overdue!

Suki Renewal Bio-Resurfacing Facial Peel is a highly active fruit enzyme type of facial peel that effectively exfoliates dead skin,  therefore treating "dullness, lines, blemishes and uneven texture and tone."

What it's used for: Reveal a smoother, more refined complexion with Renewal Bio Resurfacing Facial Peel. 3% cranberry glycolic acid and 5% stabilized vitamin C polypeptide treats dullness and wrinkles by exfoliating, boosting collagen production and enhancing clarity. Clogged pores, toxic buildup, blemishes and inflammation are addressed with 6% apple and pumpkin enzymes with 15% white willow bark salicylic acid.

This powerhouse peel effectively exfoliates damaged cells, decongests clogged pores, helps reduce the appearance of blemishes by removing dead skin cells and drawing out the impurities, and "evens skin tone, boosts collagen synthesis, soothes inflammation."

This product was made to be ideal for all skin types, but should be avoided by people extremely sensitive skin including those with rosacea. It also SHOULD NOT be used on the delicate eye & lip areas.

How I use it: I use this peel about once a week, and I apply it to freshly cleansed skin that is still warm. I apply an even layer all over my face and décolletage, and leave it on for about 20 minutes. Suki recommends that it should be left on 10-20 minutes depending on your level of sensitivity and then to remove it with water or a moist wash cloth. It does tingle quite a bit upon application, but I would definitely recommend starting out slowly and not leaving it on for an excessive period of time. It might be a good idea to do a test run on a small area to see whether or not you can tolerate it. Since I have been using it for so many years now, I have built up a tolerance to leaving it on for a longer period of time. In fact when I use it as a spot treatment on pimples I actually leave it on overnight. Again, I would not recommend doing this when you first start out, at least not until you know that your skin can handle such an active peel.

My results (and yours may differ): After I remove this peel I immediately notice that my skin is a bit pink and flushed, but that subsides within a few minutes for me. What is startling is just how smooth, glowing and soft my skin is immediately after use. It also draws out whiteheads, blackheads and pimples with great efficacy, and those that are more stubborn are easier to remove (done properly, of course). My skin is radiant for days after I use this, and I notice that all of my treatment products apply and absorb much more effectively (and I can use less product as a result).

The Key Ingredients: cranberry glycolic alpha hydroxy acid, refined botanical enzyme complex, stabilized 5% vitamin c polypeptide & salicylic acid standardized for 15% potency from white willow bark.

Ingredients: water (aqua), alcohol, carica papaya (papain) extract, malus domestica/pyrus malus (apple) fruit extract, vaccinium (bilberry), cucurbita pepo (pumpkin) seed extract, salix alba (willow) bark extract, citrus medica limonum (lemon) peel powder, xanthan gum, lavendula angustifolia (lavender) oil, macrocarpon (cranberry) extract, citric acid, garcinia mangostana (mangosteen) extract, punica granatum (pomegranate) powder extract, citrus aurantifolia dulcis (orange) peel extract, cholesterol, hydrogenated phosphatidylcholine, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, calendula officinalis (calendula) flower extract, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, rosa canina (rosehip) fruit extract, glycerin (vegetable), *aroma/fragrance, limonene, linalool (*component of 100% pure essential oils).

This product is vegan.

Overall assessment:  This is a really lovely natural peel that is very effective. I have used it for years and will continue to because it really works well for my normal/combination skin. However, people with sensitive/very sensitive skin should be cautioned that this will likely be far too strong and active for your delicate skin.

Suki Facial Lift Ultimate Firming Cream- Review

After having received about a dozen emails from readers interested in finding a great luxury anti-aging cream that is natural, organic, and highly effective- I decided it was time to review one such product.

Suki Facial Lift Ultimate Firming Cream is a luxurious anti-aging cream that was created for combination to dry and maturing skin types. Suki suggests that this cream is a"ground-breaking, comprehensive formula" made with "the most advanced combination of clinically-proven ingredients" for the treatment of "wrinkles, elasticity loss, uneven tone and dryness." This cream is lightweight and absorbs very quickly. It has a wonderful natural smell from all of the steam distilled essential oils that make using this product a very lovely experience. Many Suki products are vegan, but this one is not since it does contain natural beeswax. I not only find that this cream does a remarkable job hydrating and moisturizing the skin, but when I use it as an eye cream I find that it diminishes fine lines, keeps my delicate eye area soft, supple and moisturized, and it never causes milia. I find that it also improves the texture of my skin and improves the clarity. While it is quite expensive- it is very potent and highly concentrated- so a little goes a very long way.

Coastal Classic Creations Lipsticks & Blush Reviews & Swatches

Seascape Creme Blush
As I mentioned in my review of Coastal Evenings Eyeshadow/Liner, Coastal Classic Creations is an environmentally friendly company committed to making safe chemical-free and cruelty-free products that are very high quality. I was lucky enough to receive a nice selection of their products as a birthday gift from my mom who is devoted to their line (and I can see why). She also favors this line because they offer a wide range of gluten-free products.

Seascape Creme Blush is described as a "rich dark rose color with an underlying deep red. Rich in high oleic organic sunflower oil known for its moisturizing and conditioning properties, our creme blush is soft and light." To use, apply with latex-free cosmetic wedge (included) along cheek line, hair line, and on the chin. Blend well. Follow with loose powder if desired.

It is a lovely dark rose shade and looks just as lovely on the lips as it does on the cheeks. I find the color nearly indistinguishable from Ida's Rose Lipstick when applied to the lips or cheeks. The texture is very soft, emollient, and a pleasure to use. Seascape Creme blush is $24.00 .25 oz.

Ingredients: Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil; Elaeis Guineensis (Palm Kernel Stearin); Euphorbia Antisyphillitica and/or Pedilanthus Pavonis (Candelilla Wax); Red Iron Oxide (CI 77491).
Left to right: Ida's Rose & Balmy Breeze Lipsticks

Ida's Rose Lipstick is described as a Raspberry Rose shade. It applies rather sheer at first, but I have since learned that these products are quite buildable- so one really can achieve a dark sultry color. The shade has been compared to Clinique's Black Honey by devotees- which seems to be a very good description of the color. I use my finger when I want a sheer wash of color, but a brush when I really want a rich dark lip.

Balmy Breeze Lipstick is described as a Milk Chocolate Pink shade. This shade has a very nice rich depth to it- it is almost a deep mauve brown. I love this color!

Ida's Rose & Balmy Breeze Lipsticks are $22.00 .25 oz.
Ida's Rose Ingredients: Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil; Elaeis Guineensis (Palm Kernel Stearin); Euphorbia Antisyphillitica and/or Pedilanthus Pavonis (Candelilla Wax); Red Iron Oxide (CI 77491)

Balmy Breeze Ingredients: Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil; Elaeis Guineensis (Palm Kernel Stearin); Euphorbia Antisyphillitica and/or Pedilanthus Pavonis (Candelilla Wax); Ultramarine Pink (CI 77007); Brown Iron Oxide (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499)
EWG Rating: Both lipsticks and the blush have an astonishing score of 0! In terms of safety it simply doesn't get better than that!
Overall assessment: Lovely natural products that come in very nice shades that feel and look great. I am very pleased with what I have from Coastal Classic Creations and will definitely continue using their products!!

Coastal Classic Creations- Coastal Evenings Eyeshadow/Liner Review

Coastal Classic Creations is an environmentally friendly company that makes cruelty-free products that are as lovely as they are safe. Coastal Classic Creations "is committed to the development of cosmetics and personal care products made without any ingredient which is known or which is suspected of causing harm to all forms of life." This company has great integrity, and is very serious about their commitment to the health of the consumer and the environment. I came to know about this fantastic company because my mom, who no longer uses any chemical-laden beauty products,  gave me a lovely selection of their makeup for my birthday (thanks, mom!!).

Coastal Evenings Eyeshadow/Liner is a very deep dark matte black mineral powder shadow/liner that can be used wet or dry. Because it is a loose mineral powder there is a tendency toward fall out when applied dry- so I suggest either a wet or damp brush to avoid the potential mess. This is a tremendously pigmented loose powder- so only the smallest amount is needed to achieve the desired look, and once it sets it provides very long lasting wear.

According to the company, their "eye shadows are created with high purity cosmetic pigments. They are beautiful, unique, custom blended colors. These shadows are highly concentrated, therefore, only a small amount of the product should be used."
The top swatch was applied wet, and the bottom swatch was applied dry. As you can see this is a deeply saturated matte black which makes it perfect as a liner. I am very fond of a strong winged liner, and this little beauty is perfect for that application.

Coastal Classic Creations suggests to use this product in the following way:

To use as a dry shadow: Dip an eye shadow brush into the product, and apply a small amount of the shadow onto your brush. Tap off the excess back into the container and apply onto the eyelid area with eye closed blending around the eyelid area. Add more eye shadow to darken, if desired. Also, blending with a dark and light color, the lighter toward the eyebrow, the darker on the lid can give the eye shadow a more diverse look. To use as a dry eyeliner: Dip an angled eye liner brush into the shadow and bring the color underneath the lid. To use as a wet eyeliner: Do not mix water directly into your product, since you may wish to use your product dry. Place a few drops of water into a tiny bowl. Then, take a detailed liner brush and wet it thoroughly. Pick up one or two granules of the eye shadows from your container and a little more water from the bowl. Using more water than eye shadow, line the rim of the eye with the liner sweeping outward toward the temple for a more dramatic effect.

This product is vegan, gluten free, cruelty free & chemical free. It also has an EWG rating of only 1!

Ingredients: Black Iron Oxide (CI 77499) (Filtered synthetic iron oxide black).

Overall assessment: I really like this a great deal- it makes for one amazingly long wearing dark black matte eyeliner! It is also nice to know that I am using something that is safe and chemical free. Click here for my review of their lovely lipsticks and blushes.

The Wonders of Jojoba Oil as a Makeup Remover and Much Much More!

Jojoba Oil is one of my all time favorite natural products to keep on hand at all times. It has so many uses, and is so easy to use without being a huge mess. It's affordable and widely available making it a very convenient choice. When I run low I either buy Desert Essence brand Jojoba Oil at Whole Foods when I am grocery shopping, or the one at Trader Joe's, but you can find it all over the place these days. There are many uses, but here are the one's that I have actually tried:

1. Makeup Remover: Jojoba Oil makes a wonderful non-stinging eye makeup remover. Rather than using it undiluted I prefer to make a dual phase eye makeup remover by placing purified water and jojoba in a bottle (one to one ratio) and giving it a good shake. It removes every trace of makeup without any irritation, and it moisturizes the delicate area around the eyes. You can also use the oil undiluted as well- and it even breaks down stubborn waterproof formulas. I tend to apply it with soft cotton pads.

2. Pre-Cleansing Oil: Pre-cleansing oils have been such a popular part of beauty routines for a while now, and Jojoba Oil is simply amazing in this capacity. You simply apply it undiluted all of your face and it will effectively remove all traces of foundation, blush, even tough to remove lipstick. It softens and hydrates the skin, and even provides some cushion against more abrasive cleansers.

3. Pre-Shampoo Hair & Scalp Treatment: Jojoba Oil is a fantastic pre-shampoo treatment! Massage it into your hair and scalp and leave it in as long as you like- then shampoo and condition as you would normally. I have left it in overnight, and the results were amazing. Some people use it as a hot oil treatment- I keep meaning to do this, but keep forgetting!

4. Body Oil: Jojoba Oil is quite concentrated so you really only need to use a small amount. I find that using it first thing when I jump out of the shower is the best for me because the slip created from moist skin allows you to use less oil, and it absorbs quickly because your skin is still warm. The end result is silky smooth skin! Since it is also a great carrier oil you can add perfume oils or essential oils to it to create a customized scent.

5. Cuticle Oil: Just rub undiluted Jojoba Oil into your cuticles daily and see the difference in no time. It is so moisturizing that it can tame even the most stubborn cuticles!

6. Overnight Intensive Hand & Foot Moisturizer: Massage liberally into hands and feet before going to bed and put on moisture mitts and socks. You will wake up with petal soft hands and feet!

Do you have any fantastic beauty secrets using Jojoba Oil? Do tell!
