DERMA E remains one of my very favorite affordable cruelty-free natural skincare brands, and I use their products all of the time. They make so many amazing products that live up to their claims, that pamper the skin, and that don't break the budget. I also love that their products are sold at Whole Foods Market– therefore I can easily pick things up while I am grocery shopping!

DERMA-E Skin Restore Advanced Peptide & Collagen Moisturizer ($35.00 for 2 oz. from DERMA-E): I really like this cream a lot! First, it is rich and thick and yet it melts into the skin effortlessly and quickly. While it is formulated as a deep wrinkle moisturizer, and I don't have any deep wrinkles, I do find that it works well for my normal to combination skin with some fine lines.  The peptide-rich formula, in concert with the Matrixyl® synthe’6®, Argireline® and plant extract Pycnogenol®, makes this an effective cream that softens and smooths the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, the antioxidant-rich ingredients intensely hydrate, protect and nourish the skin and leaves it moisturized and supple. I would be very curious to hear from any of you who have deep wrinkles to see whether you have tried this cream, and whether it has softened their appearance. I definitely see that my fine lines look softer and smoother, and the extent to which it moisturizes my skin is very impressive. There is no real detectable scent, and therefore it shouldn't pose a problem for anyone who is sensitive to fragrant skincare products.

DERMA E Firming DMAE Eye Lift ($24.95 for 1/2 oz. from DERMA E): This is a very lightweight and fast-absorbing eye cream that is formulated to hydrate, lift, firm, smooth and tighten the delicate skin around the eyes while softening the appearance of fine lines. It is very concentrated, and therefore only a tiny amount is needed for both eyes. After using it for a couple of weeks I definitely noticed that the delicate skin under my eyes looked soft, supple, hydrated, luminous, lifted and my fine lines were softened. It's a really effective eye cream, and the price is quite a bargain. It has no detectable scent, and it doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes.

Overall Assessment: I like both the DERMA E Skin Restore Advanced Peptide & Collagen Moisturizer and Firming DMAE Eye Lift so much that I leave them out on my counter for easy access since I reach for them often.

Valentina’s Naturals Hydrating Body & Massage Oil in Pure Serenity ($14.00 for 4 oz. from Valentina's Naturals): This is a delectable body and massage oil that is described as "Deeply moisturizing blend with Sweet Orange, Lavender and Cedarwood"– but the Sweet Orange is the most prominent note, but its edges are softened by the Cedarwood, and I don't detect the Lavender. It is lightweight enough to absorb quickly on damp skin, but doesn't absorb so quickly on dry skin so as to be ineffective as a massage oil.

The sense of smell is inexorably linked with a habit and memory. OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream ($48.00 for 2 oz. from OSEA): This is a very lightweight and fast absorbing face cream with a luxurious, light and silky texture. The Shea Butter and Avocado Oil provide the skin with an abundance of moisture, but without any greasy residue. This nourishing cream has a silky finish with a slight natural glow, but without any shimmering particles. Not only does this do an exemplary job as a face cream, but its texture and consistency makes it a perfect base for foundations, tinted moisturizers and BB/CC creams. Furthermore, it has a really lovely light, clean scent that is very pleasant and soothing.

While the Camphor and Peppermint Oil are assertive, they are likewise pleasant and don't overwhelm the senses. I find the aroma invigorating and altogether refreshing.

I routinely receive lots of requests to review healthy skincare products sans all of the multisyllabic chemical compounds, and recently one of the most requested lines has, without question, been May Lindstrom. I must confess, it was the line at the top of my list to try since its launch, and I will say that I have become thoroughly obsessed with the entire collection.

May Lindstrom The Youth Dew Hydrating Serum is more of a magical golden elixir than a mere beauty oil. This gem of an ultra-luxe face oil is lightweight, fast absorbing and has a delectable aroma that is punctuated by the Rosa Damascena (Bulgarian Rose) Essential Oil. This antioxidant-rich potion provides the skin with immediate hydration, nourishment and a pronounced luminosity. After a few days of use, I noted that my face, neck and décolleté were unusually soft, supple, hydrated and luminous. This oil is so nourishing and hydrating that I am actually able to forgo an added moisturizer altogether. May Lindstrom suggests that The Youth Dew is very well suited for dry skin, but it is not too rich for normal/combination skin like mine. I simply warm a couple of drops between my hands and massage it into my warm, damp skin. The results are unmistakable and undeniable.

I am so impressed by PurErb Bulgarian Rose Soothing Toner that I am compelled to further investigate their other skincare products.

Kensington Apothecary Facial Oil #3 Pure Soothing | Review

Given the veritable flood of beauty oils on the market, one of the greatest challenges for the uninitiated is finding one that best suits the needs of their skin. This particular challenge might even seem insurmountable for people with sensitive skin and very sensitive skin. For them, finding skincare products that neither exacerbate known sensitivities, nor introduce unknown offending ingredients, from the plethora of botanical actives that can overstimulate and irritate particularly sensitive skin, can present a very daunting challenge. The importance of the peace-of-mind associated with selecting a beauty oil that is formulated with the specific needs of sensitive, and reactive skin,  cannot be sufficiently underscored. 

Kensington Apothecary Facial Oil #3 Pure Soothing is, as the name suggests, a soothing face oil that is formulated to soothe, calm, heal, nourish and hydrate even the most sensitive skin types. Carefully selected anti-inflammatory ingredients such as Schisandra Fruit Extract, heals irritated and inflamed skin, while Avocado oil deeply nourishes and hydrates the skin. 

While my skin isn't always sensitive, it can be very reactive to certain ingredients, and when something triggers a reaction, I definitely seek refuge for my skin by using particularly gentle products that contain potent anti-inflammatory ingredients to mitigate the effects of the offending products and their particularly offending ingredients.

Kensington Apothecary Facial Oil #3 Pure Soothing leaves my skin soft, supple, nourished, hydrated, and with a pronounced luminosity. My skin benefits from this oil whether or not it is in a sensitive and reactive state, but when I experience skin irritation, this oil immediately soothes and calms it. Therefore, whether your skin is reactive to particular ingredients, or it is sensitive, in general, then this mighty little oil is absolutely worth having. 

Furthermore, this is a brilliant choice if you have been using aggressive facial peels and exfoliants that leave skin red, inflamed and traumatized. It's hard to believe that such an effective healing beauty oil is available at such a reasonable price! It should be noted that it has a light and pleasant earthy herbal scent that disappears after it is absorbed, and it won't likely cause an issue for people sensitive to aromatic face oils.

May Lindstrom Skin Sneak Peek

In the last month, or so, I have quite literally received several dozen emails from readers asking me if I could please review the May Lindstrom skincare line, and it just so happened to be the one skincare line that I was the most intrigued by, and the most interested in trying. While this may seem like a complete coincidence, it actually is far from it. The people who were making this request are the very same people who are obsessed with the same skincare lines that I favor, and they use many of my favorites. In truth, it is only logical given that each one of us would gravitate toward May Lindstrom Skin– given our collective penchant for ultra-luxury skincare sans unhealthy ingredients.

Therefore, I am very pleased to let you know that I have just begun testing this gorgeous line, and very much look forward to reviewing these products for you. My first impression: I am blown away by this thoughtfully handcrafted line. The textures, aromas and presentation are outstanding, and this is definitely a highly nourishing line that is best savored.
