Luxury and Budget-Friendly Plummy & Peachy Pink Lipsticks for Winter

Plum and peachy-pink lipsticks are my favorite shades to wear during the colder months, and I thought that I would feature a high-end and an affordable version of two of my favorite plum lipsticks, and while I selected two that met that criteria I decided to throw in a sheer-leaning glossy peachy pink lipstick as well, since it can be such a nice topper for richer plum shades.

Jane Iredale's Triple Luxe Long Lasting Naturally Moist Lipstick in Joanna ($35.00 from Jane Iredale, Amazon, Dermstore, Neiman Marcus and Soft Surroundings): Jane Iredale makes so many amazing eco-friendly luxurious products that I couldn't even begin to select a favorite. Their lipsticks are absolutely incredible, and they boast an ultra-luxe antioxidant-rich formula that is moisturizing and very comfortable to wear. The lipsticks glide across the lips effortlessly, deposit color evenly and they do not bleed or migrate. Joanna is a gorgeous and buildable cool-toned plum with pink undertones, and a beautifully sheen.

Nanacoco Liptastic Lipstick in Pink Champagne ($8.50 from BB Full): This lipstick is quite sheer, but it offers enough color to give lips a lovely flush, and it adds dimension and sheen to richly pigmented lipsticks like Nanacoco Magnumatte Lip Crayon in Roasted Chestnut. It is a moisturizing and glossy lipstick that is comfortable on the lips, and silky smooth in texture.

Nanacoco Magnumatte Lip Crayon in Roasted Chestnut ($7.50 from BB Full): This matte lip crayon can either be used as a liner or as a lipstick. It has a matte finish, but it is neither drying, nor is it particularly moisturizing. It is very long-wearing and the plummy shade is very flattering, and perfect for the holidays.

Overall Assessment: If you are looking for a luxury Plum lipstick, then Jane Iredale's Triple Luxe Long Lasting Naturally Moist Lipstick in Joanna is the way to go. If you are on a budget, then Nanacoco Magnumatte Lip Crayon in Roasted Chestnut is a great alternative. Pink Champagne is a stunning topper for Roasted Chestnut, but is a lovely peachy-pink on its own.

Beauty Box 5 July 2017 Unboxing

For some reason my July Beauty Box 5 arrived yesterday, at the end of August, and I haven't yet received my August box– therefore I am a little late to the party. I will say, however, that this July box was definitely worth the wait, and it is definitely one of the best BB5 boxes that I have seen. 

Each month BB5 curates a theme-based beauty box that features five products that range from full-size to samples, but the July box, with its Let's Get Lost theme, features six items– four of which are full-size.

The July Box Contents:

1) MANNA KADAR Cosmetics Glo Illuminator (Deluxe Sample. Full Size $29.00): This is a very pretty peachy highlighter that imparts a luminous, dewy finish. It can be used on the face and body, and I plan on testing it out today!

2) LUSETA BEAUTY Argan Oil Hair Masque (Deluxe Sample. Full Size $29.00): I always welcome trying new hair masks, and this one promises to revitalize damaged and color treated hair. In the shower it goes. It has a light and pleasant fragrance that is neither overpowering, nor is it cloying.

3) STYLI-STYLE Line & Seal Semi-Permanent Eye Liner (Full Size. $6.50): I am very excited about trying this eye liner, it claims to be very long-wearing, and gentle enough for sensitive eyes. The color that I received, 140 Black Pearl, is a very pretty black that is punctuated by silver shimmer. It is perfect for the fall, and I look forward to wearing it.

6) NANACOCO Rio II Nail Polish (Full Size. $3.95): The color that I received, #1 Fan, is a beautiful periwinkle blue that is Labor Day pedi perfect!

Overall Assessment: This box is a tremendous value for the $12.00 cost. Four out of the six products were full-size, and the remaining two were very generous deluxe samples.  This is definitely one of my favorite BB5 boxes to date!

Jersey Shore Cosmetics Mongongo Lip Conditioner (Full Size. Retail $10.00): This organic lip balm is great on its own, but also works well as a lipstick base to condition the lips. It smells like coconut! #jerseycosmetics

Mini Bonus Item: De La Cruz Arnica Salve (Deluxe Sample 0.12 oz.): This is a moisturizer that is intended for dry and cracked skin.

Overall Assessment: The May box is a great value, and it by far exceeds the $12.00 price tag! I will use everything in the box, and think that these picks will be great for the summer months.

Each month BB5 curates a theme-based beauty box that features five products that range from full-size to samples. In this feature I will unveil the contents of their January and February 2017 boxes. This is the first time that I have done this, and I will tell you why...I have a brand new mailman who generally delivers my mail to who knows where, and it is often days or weeks later that a neighbor will show up with a some of my mail. Accordingly, one of my neighbors seemed to have received my January box, and it appeared on my porch around the same time that my February box appeared. Overall Assessment: The January & February 2017 BB5 boxes were both a good value, and it's worth more than the $12.00 cost of admission. However, if you are obsessed with lip products, then the February box will make you especially happy!

Each month BB5 creates a theme-based box, and the theme for July 2015 is fuss-free hot-weather makeup featuring some good skincare products, a swipe of lip liner, some sparkling lip gloss, shimmering nails, and sparkling temporary metallic tattoos.

1) OFRA Lip Gloss in Apricot Dream (Full size $12.95): This is a really gorgeous, non-sticky twinkling and glossy lip gloss. While it is a lovely peach in the tube, it imparts less color and more shine and shimmer when swatched. It has a very faint nondescript scent that fades immediately.

A soft creamy formula for an ultra sheer finish enriched with anti-oxidants. Gloss contains natural sun filters (Titanium Dioxide) and may be used alone or over a lipstick to add brilliant shine. #OFRA

4) Love Life Skin Collection (Sample packets. Full size retail $25.00-$30.00): Love Life Skin is a skincare line that was first created for use by chemotherapy patients who were having issues with sensitive skin. The formulas are soothing, nourishing and hydrating, and a good choice for sensitive skin.

Overall Assessment: The OFRA Lip Gloss in Apricot Dream is the real star of the show! It's a gorgeous and non-sticky gloss that feels as good as it looks. I do wish that the skincare products were deluxe samples, that came in resealable tubes rather than packets, since they would be perfect for travel, and one could test them for a longer period of time.
