HH Science Lip Stay Matte Liquid Lipstick is a lightweight and highly pigmented matte liquid lipstick formula that is comfortable to wear, and that I don't find drying on my lips. If you prefer glossy finishes, then this finish isn't for you, but I you love a good matte lipstick, then this is definitely worthy of your consideration. These lipsticks glide across the lips effortlessly, deposit color effortlessly, and they do not bleed or migrate. 

Nude is a warm peachy beige and Pure Pout is a warm peachy coral shade, and they are beautiful alone, or blended together. If you like the longevity of matte lipsticks, but want a bit of shine, then you can treat these as lip stains and top them with your favorite gloss. If you have dry lips, you can prep them with a lip balm and then use the liquid lipstick.

CLE Cosmetics Melting Lip Powder in Desert Rose Review & Swatches

CLE Cosmetics Melting Lip Powder in Desert Rose is a beautiful deep, dusty rose shade with a slight brown undertone. It comes out of the tube as a powder, but it immediately melts into a liquid. It has a matte finish, and can be used with a light hand for a wash of color, or layered for maximum pigmentation and intensity. While it has a matte finish, it isn't drying on the lips. Ingredients such as Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil and Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid ensure that it isn't a typical drying matte lipstick. In fact, CLE Cosmetics has formulated it for use on the lips, cheeks and eyelids. I have not tested it on my eyes or cheeks, but I am impressed by its longevity on my lips. If you like a long wearing lipstick, but don't like to wear mattes, then this can be layered under your favorite lip gloss as well.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Famous Red is what I would describe as a a vibrant pinkish coral kissed red that is perfect for the holiday season. The velvety texture is smooth and creamy, and it glides across the lips effortlessly and deposits color evenly. It is very long-wearing, and it neither migrates nor does it feather. I find many matte lipsticks and crayons quite drying, but do not find that this one dries and chaps my lips. If you have particularly dry lips, you might want to use a matte lip balm as a base. I love that this chubby pencil can either be used as a liner, or all over the lips. It does not twist up, and therefore it requires an appropriately sized sharpener.

Bodyography Lip Lava Liquid Lipstick ($19.00 for 0.08 fl oz / 2.4 ml. from Bodyography): These liquid lipsticks have a soft matte finish, highly saturated pigmentation and bold colors. They feature a doe-foot applicator that effectively glides across the lips. They dry down quickly, but thankfully they didn't dry out my lips. However, if you do have very dry lips, you might want to apply a thin layer of lip balm to prep your lips. They are very very long wearing, and when they do begin to fade, they do so evenly leaving a nice vibrant stain behind.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Mega Matte in Oblivion

Longtime readers will certainly tell you that I generally prefer glossy textured lipsticks to mattes, and I find that the majority of the mattes on the market are drying, dull, lifeless and inherently unflattering. However, there are always exceptions, and the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Mega Matte in Oblivion is one such exception, in my estimation. Urban Decay is 100% Cruelty-Free.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Mega Matte in Oblivion is a creamy, lightly emollient, and non-drying matte that glides across the lips effortlessly, deposits color evenly, and it neither feathers, nor pools. It delivers full opaque coverage in a single pass, it does not feel heavy on the lips, and while it is a matte it boasts a very light sheen that prevents it from being flat. I get 4+ hours of wear-time from a single application, and find that it fades evenly when it begins to wear off. Oblivion, which is described as a gray-taupe, is a really beautiful, and infinitely flattering, mauve-taupe that strikes me as more complex than a gray-taupe.

Overall Assessment: I am surprised by the extent to which I love this lipstick, and thought that I would tire of wearing a matte lipstick, but Oblivion is so beautiful and comfortable on the lips that I find myself reaching for it more often than I would ever have imagined.

Light all over the face:

La Maison du Chocolat Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte Lipstick ($31.00 for 3.4 g / 0.11 oz. from Shu Uemura USA and $36.00 from Shu Uemura Canada): I have never been a fan of matte lipsticks because I find most of them drying and unforgiving on the lips. They often feel heavy, thick and imposing and they are most often quite flat and lack dimension and visual interest. However, Shu Uemura has cracked the code on creating a gorgeous matte lipstick that isn't drying in the least and that has a feather-weight ultra-creamy consistency that feels very comfortable on the lips. Furthermore, it glides across the lips effortlessly, deposits color evenly, and it neither bleeds nor settles into lip lines. Additionally it doesn't look flat and dry and it lasts for many hours.  These lipsticks also smell and taste like high quality European chocolates, but that does fade after a few minutes. These gorgeous lipsticks are available in 6 luscious colors, and fortunately I have all of them to share with you.

These lipsticks have a luminous satin finish, a rich and creamy consistency that hydrates the lips and makes them soft and smooth. The lipsticks glide across the lips effortlessly, deposit color evenly and they neither bleed into lip lines, nor do they pool. They are long-wearing, boast the perfect amount of cushion for comfortable wear, and they are utterly gorgeous! Furthermore, they have the same delectable chocolate fragrance as the Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte Lipsticks.

Overall Assessment: The Shu Uemura La Maison du Chocolat Lipsticks and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palette are just perfect for the holidays, but you will be using them long after this season is over. A+
