Triumph & Disaster Dichotomy Eye Serum Review

Press Sample (Unaffiliated Links)

Triumph & Disaster, a New Zealand brand, creates "men’s grooming products designed with the best of nature, refined with the best science, and enhance the ritual of selfcare. The products are cruelty-free, designed with circularity at the forefront, and utilize indigenous and efficacious ingredients in formulations that meet EWG standards." While their products are conceived of for men, their Dichotomy Eye Serum is perfect for everyone!

According to Triumph & Disaster,

Triumph & Disaster's philosophy is to use the best of science combined with the best of nature to produce naturally derived but scientifically engineered products that work. We use local indigenous ingredients such as Horopito oil and Ponga fern extract blended with scientifically proven and natural ingredients from around the globe, such as clay from Australia, Jojoba extract from Mexico and Tamanu oil from Polynesia.

Finally we believe that the future of sustainable business is a path of integrity and honesty (great marketing and a rocking distribution system may also help) and that customers deserve at least this much from the brands they support.

We aim to respect nature, utilize science,  create products of ritual and tools for preparation - so we can treat Triumph & Disaster, those two imposters just the same.

Triumph & Disaster Dichotomy Eye Serum is a lightweight nourishing eye serum that effectively reduces puffiness, hydrates dehydrated skin and softens the appearance of fine lines. It is effective and gentle, and never bothers my sensitive eyes. It sinks into the skin immediately and leaves it soft, smooth supple and rejuvenated. Furthermore, this wonderful New Zealand beauty brand is cruelty-free, effective and they use wonderful healthy ingredients.

According to Triumph & Disaster,

Norwegian kelp and Persian silk help Dichotomy to reduce sagging skin and dark circles caused by dehydration, stress and not enough sleep.

Dichotomy optimizes hydrous flow and moderates water circulation, reducing unnecessary puffiness caused by modern lifestyle excesses.

Dichotomy supports collagen production, provides tensile support to blood vessels and improves skin elasticity. Crucial to maintaining healthy skin around the sensitive areas of the eyes.

Dichotomy promotes the synthesis of essential lipids and proteins essential to healthy, youthful looking skin.  Attacks crow's feet by boosting elasticity and improving firmness of the sensitive skin around the eyes.

Attacks crows feet by boosting elasticity and improving firmness of the sensitive skin around the eyes.

Dichotomy Eye Serum is our happy collision of two historic foes. In the blue corner: Nature. Wild, untethered nature stacked with the supernatural benefits of Norwegian Kelp, Swamp Maple, Horopito, St Paul’s Wort and Persian Silk Tree. The red corner: Science, brandishing clinical evidence and proven efficacy like a killer dance move. Apart, they are tremendous. Colliding together, they are the future.

Directions: Dot a small amount of serum around the orbital bone, working from the inner to the outer corners of the skin around your eye area.

Select Ingredients and Full Ingredients:

Kakadu Plum Fruit Extract (Terminalia Ferdinandiana): Used medicinally for thousands of years by indigenous Australians, Kakadu plum is believed to possess the most Vitamin C of any food on Earth; Being up to 100 times that found in an orange. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant and vital nutrient in slowing the aging process. It is crucial for the production of prolin, an amino acid essential to create collagen.

Norwegian Kelp (Ascophyllum Nodosum): Predominantly found in the North Atlantic Ocean (near Norway). Traditionally used for its nutritive and skin soothing properties. Being rich in minerals like Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium and Iodine, it's awesome for hydration and is anti inflammatory when applied on the skin as a firming, healing and strengthening agent.

Persian Silk Tree (Albizia Julibrissin): Persian Silk tree bark is an awesome and effective organic extract that is really expensive. Seriously it is one of the most expensive skincare ingredients doing the rounds due in a large part to its proven effect on soft skin, most noticeable on sagging eyelids. Persian Silk tree extract genuinely appears to slow the skins ageing process, like a veritable spring of eternal youth.

Swamp Maple Bark Extract (Acer Rubrum): Maple bark extract is a naturally occurring active ingredient with clinically proven pro-collagen and pro-elastin properties. Swamp Maple stimulates dermal regeneration by increasing collagen production while inhibiting collagenase enzyme synthesis that degrades collagen with age. Clinical studies reveal the complete and long-term efficacy of this polyphenolic extract with measured wrinkle amplitude reduction as well as visible effects expressed with before and after treatment documentation.

Horopito (Pseudowintera Colorata): Found only in Aoteoroa (New Zealand), Horopito is one of the worlds oldest flowering plants, surviving for over 65 million years thanks to its natural chemical defence system. Rich in antioxidants, Horopito has withstood the knocks, lasting ice ages and droughts that wiped out many less robust species. It's properties like these that make it a fantastic toning and conditioning agent.

Rosemary Extract (Rosmarinus Officinalis): A powerful natural antioxidant that provides protection against UV stress and glycation and reduces the accumulation of skin damage over time, for healthy looking skin. Stunning long-term oil preservation. Rosemary extract is a powerful oil stabiliser with anti-rancidity and natural anti-oxidation properties that help in the protection of skin collagen and elastin fibres. It also enhances elastin and hyaluronic acid production.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Squalane (Olive), Sodium Acrylates Copolymer, Xylitylglucoside, Terminalia Ferdinandiana (Kakadu Plum) Fruit Extract, Ascophyllum Nodosum (Norwegian Kelp) Extract, Asparagopsis Armata Extract, Albizia Julibrissin (Persian Silk Tree) Bark Extract, Saccharide Isomerate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Acer Rubrum (Swamp Maple) Bark Extract, Anhydroxylitol, Xylitol, Pseudowintera Colorata (Horopito) Leaf Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Sorbitol, Darutoside, Lecithin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate.

Overall Assessment: This is such an effective and refreshing eye serum, and it is perfect for the warmer months, and in fact I am using it in lieu of a heavier eye cream this summer.

City Beauty Eye Revive Firming Serum Review

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

Working from home during the pandemic has meant that I spend far more time working on the computer, for very long hours each day, and the Zoom sessions are seemingly never-ending. As a result, I find that my eyes are often tired and burning, and at the end of the day I definitely need a little pick-me-up. City Beauty Eye Revive Firming Serum provides me with wonderful relief, and my fatigue driven under-eye puffiness and dark circles are radically diminished by this incredible serum.

The ceramic applicator tip is a refreshing and uplifting way to apply the serum, and the perpetually cool surface soothes tired eyes, reduces swelling and it helps the serum absorb into the delicate skin under the eyes. Furthermore, this serum deeply hydrates, lifts, tightens, softens the appearance of fine lines, and skin is not left feeling taut or dry. I am so elated by the efficacy of this serum that I definitely plan to further investigate City Beauty in 2021.

According to City Beauty,

Eye Revive Firming Serum visibly hydrates, firms, & tightens the skin around the delicate eye area — effectively reducing the look of fine lines & wrinkles — while advanced polymers create a taut finish within minutes. The result is smoother, younger-looking skin around the eyes.

- Bi-Monthly Delivery

- Effective Plant-based Ingredients
- Always Cruelty-Free

The Boxwalla October Beauty Box is themed: The Logic of Finding Fine Things
There are two brands in this Box: Naturallogic Skincare and  Fine Cosmetics and three full-sized products.  Retail Value: $181.

Both the brands create absolutely beautiful, innovative products, with unique delightful textures. And they just melt and work with the skin.

1) Naturallogic UnMask Detox Hydration Mask (full size, $58)
2) Naturallogic Elemental Advanced Hydration Red Wine Essence (full size, $58)
3) Fine Cosmetics Daytime Radiance Eye Serum (full size, $66)

The first product in the box is Unmask Detox Hydration Mask (full size, $58). This a gorgeous mask that works hard to ‘unmask',  so to speak, your best skin! Made in a hydrating base of aloe vera juice and geranium distillate, the combination of activated charcoal, AHA complex, niacinamide, hemp seed oil, cranberry fruit extract, chamomile extract (and more!), both deeply cleanses & refines the skin, while also hydrating, healing & restoring the skin! A special kind of magic!

The Founder: Naturallogic was created by Toni Barandon, who is a trained nutritionist & herbalist, creating fresh, vibrant skincare that is wonderfully effective. Fans of Toni’s work will already know that Toni uses in-house biofermentations, extracts &oil infusions in the incredible products she formulates.

Toni describes the amazingness of Unmask perfectly when she says that Unmask has:

* The gentle, deep clean of a cleansing oil.

* The pore purge and refining of a clay mask.

* The quench of a hydrating serum.

* The bacterial protection + neutralization of a blemish treatment.

Unmask is a unique, ready to use mask that somehow manages to both clarify as well as hydrate the skin, leaving it supple, clear and glowing! As I mentioned above, Unmask contains some potent, thoughtfully chosen ingredients & I thought I’d tell you more about Niacinamide! Vitamin B3 or niacinamide is a water soluble vitamin that does sooo much for the skin! It improves the skin’s barrier function, reduces skin sensitivity as well as hyperpigmentation. It also promotes collagen synthesis and glycosaminoglycan production. According to some studies, it is thought that a lot of these skin benefits of niacinamide comes from its ability to increase the intracellular concentration of NADPH (cellular energy) which depletes with age.

The second product in the box is Fine Cosmetics' Daytime Radiance Eye Serum (full size, $66). This is an elegantly ingenious eye serum - a true serum that is water based with ingredients like Persian silk tree extract, beet root extract, protective & firming ashwagandha extract, grape leaf extract, niacinamide, elderberry fruit extract, high molecular hyaluronic acid & more. I love how it de-puffs & firms my under eye region while deeply hydrating it. It also reduces dark circles & crow’s feet.

The Founder: Fine was started by Judith Springer who is a lawyer, with a PhD in sociology (on the connection of art & urban architectural upgrading!) AND she is is an art curator and trained yoga teacher. Judith captured the essence of Fine, when she said to me: “I am always looking for that special point where all is in perfect balance, where nothing can be added or taken away, the point of zero, of complete stillness”

One of the main ingredients in this wonderful eye serum is Persian silk tree extract or Albizia Julibrissin, an antioxidant which has powerful anti-glycation properties. The process of glycation involves the adherence of sugar molecules to the collagen & elastin proteins leading to loss of elasticity & firmness. This potent extract both prevents glycation & also breaks the binding of sugars to proteins thus reducing glycation effects. In addition to this, the Persian silk tree extract is also anti-inflammatory, evens skin tone, reduces dark circles & improves the texture of skin.

The third product in this box is the Elemental Advanced Hydration Red Wine Essence (full size, $58). This is a beautiful lightweight essence but oh so much more than an essence!

Elemental Red Wine essence is made in a base of organic red wine that is crafted in-house. The wine takes half a year to produce & harvest and is rich in polyphenols, resvertrol and gluconic acid. In addition to the red wine, the essence also contains soothing, hydrating aloe juice as well as coconut water that helps mineralize the skin, aka restore its mineral balance. Vitamin B3 strengthens the barrier function, balances the level of moisture in the skin, increasing the skin’s natural hydration. And then there is the red algae - a rich source of polysaccharides that is instantly hydrating due to its ability to enhance the skin’s natural barrier function and increase its moisture retention capabilities. This is such a wonderful multitasking product that works beautifully as your first step after cleansing (after your eye serum) to balance the pH of the skin while also deeply hydrating, strengthening, plumping and brightening the skin.

Overall Assessment: My full review is forthcoming, but I can tell you right now that these three products are truly swoon-worthy!

*THIS IS A SUBSCRIPTION*  You will be charged immediately when you purchase. Automatic renewal occurs every two months until you cancel. Make sure to cancel before the 20th of the preceding month. The October Box will ship in August. The last date to subscribe is October 5.

Osmosis Pur Medical Skincare Refresh Eye Serum and Refresh Eye Serum PM | Review

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

I have tried numerous Osmosis skincare and makeup products, and I remain very impressed by the efficacy of each of the things that I have tested. Ever on the hunt for effective eye creams and eye serums, I was naturally quite interested in trying their Refresh Eye Serum and Refresh PM Eye Serum. Both are very effective moisturizers, they reduces the appearance of dark circles and puffiness and plump fine lines.
Osmosis Pur Medical Refresh Eye Serum ($60.00 from Osmosis and Skin Care RX): This is an intensely hydrating, anti-aging daytime eye serum that diminishes the appearance of dark circles, reduces the appearance of under-eye puffiness and softens the appearance of fine lines. It is exceedingly concentrated, therefore only a tiny amount is needed for the best results. I apply it to warm, slightly damp freshly cleansed skin and it sinks right in. Skin is left soft, supple, nourished and brightened.

According to Osmosis,

This powerful eye serum utilizes ingredients that work with the skin to effectively reduce puffiness, lines, and dark circles. It also contains proven actives that increase collagen and elastin as well as to firm and protect the delicate layers around the eye.

Balancing scientific ingredients with active botanical extracts including Canadian Willowherb and Sweet Almond Oil, the lightweight serum infuses the delicate eye area with moisture and vitamins, stimulating natural collagen and elastin levels for a visible plumping effect. Skin appears brighter and revitalised with a youthful looking vitality.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycosaminoglycans, Cetearyl Olivate, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Prunus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Phosphatidylcholine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Carboxymethyl Beta- Glucan, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalane, Sorbitan Olivate, Epilobium Angustifolium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Caprooyl-Tetrapeptide-3, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Chrysanthellum Indicum Extract, Angelica Polymorpha Sinensis Root Extract, Dextran, Pelargonium Graveolens Leaf Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil, Commiphora Myrrha (Myrrh) Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Cetyl Hydroxyethylcellulose, Potassium Sorbate, Butylene Glycol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol. Gluten Free. Oncology friendly.
Osmosis Pur Medical Skincare Refresh PM Eye Serum ($68.00 for oz. from Osmosis and Skin Care RX): This is a very thick and rich serum, with a texture more like a cream than a serum, and it is even more concentrated than the daytime eye serum, I use the tiniest amount, warm it between my fingers and then gently pat it into my warm, freshly cleansed under-eye area. It sinks in, but leaves behind a slight protective barrier. It is ultra-moisturizing and nourishing, and it leaves skin soft and silky smooth. Furthermore, it plumps the appearance of fine lines, diminishes the appearance of dark circles, and reduces the appearance of under-eye puffiness.

According to Osmosis,

Verso Super Facial Serum and Super Eye Serum | Review #VersoSkincare

Purchased (Affiliate Links)

I received an email from a longtime reader who remembered that I had purchased a couple of Verso products, and wondered if I might review them so that she could decide whether or not she wanted to purchase them. I have been meaning to review them for quite a while, and she gave me the proper motivation to reflect on the Verso Super Facial Serum and the Verso Super Eye Serum.

I have to preface this by stating that I am very cautious with my skin, and I generally consult my doctor or dermatologist before I begin using active, exfoliating products, and have them take a close look at moles to determine whether there are any that are suspicious looking. To state the obvious, sometimes the things that one might seek to treat with retinol-based products could actually be cancerous, or pre-cancerous, and therefore the worst possible thing to do is apply active products to try to make these skin conditions disappear. It is also incredibly important to be sure to be diligent about using high SPF sunscreens when you are using retinol, or other products that encourage rapid skin cell turnover.

According to Verso,

Verso products contain no dyes, mineral oils, or other harmful substances. In addition to its revolutionary anti-aging effect, Verso Skincare has been developed to minimize the risk of irritated skin, so it is suitable for those with sensitive skin.
According to Verso, here are their research results:

In a double-blind, placebo-controlled, split-face study under the supervision of Dr. Margareta Frohm Nilsson at the Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm (Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset, Stockholm):
  • Retinyl retinoate universally decreased the appearance of wrinkles
  • Retinyl retinoate was safe to use with no reported side-effects
  • 86% reported improvements in eye wrinkles
  • 100% reported overall improvement
  • 82% reporting more lustrous skin after 12 weeks of use
  • 77% reported overall improvement compared to the first 12 week period
Precautions:
-Do not use Verso Skincare during pregnancy, as it contains a vitamin A derivative.
-It it recommended to try a small amount on your forearm before applying it to your face.
-Even though retinol 8 is stable in sunshine, still be careful and protect your skin from overexposure to the sun.
Verso Super Facial Serum ($130.00 for 1.01 oz. from Verso, Barneys New YorkNet-A-Porter and Cult Beauty): This retinol serum is lightweight, fast absorbing and gentle enough that I didn't experience any redness, peeling, drying or irritation with my sometimes finicky skin. I cannot speak to Verso's claims that it is "eight times more effective than the standard retinol in the same dosage," but I can say that it effectively speeds up skin cell turnover, softens the appearance of fine lines, evens skin tone, and fades hyperpigmentation. My skin is left very soft, smooth and radiant. I should note that I have tried a wide variety of retinols– including those that require a prescription– and this was among the most gentle on my skin. I tend to use this serum at night rather than day and/or night because while one sleeps skin renewal is the most pronounced, and I tend to prefer to use products that accelerate skin cell turnover during this time of the day.

I am close to the end of my bottle, and once I finish up a few of my other retinol-based products, I will purchase another bottle of Verso Super Facial Serum.

According to Verso,

Formulated with a high dose of retinol 8—a stabilized vitamin A complex which is eight times more effective than standard retinol in the same dosage—Verso Super Face Serum supports skin’s natural collagen, reversing the visible signs of aging. Combined with other Verso creams or used on its own, this serum has profound effects on the skin, improving texture and reducing the appearance of wrinkles and discoloration. It has been developed to minimize the risk of irritated skin, so it is suitable for those with sensitive skin.

Directions: To be used morning and/or evening. Apply on cleansed skin all over the face and neck.
Select Ingredients and their attributes:
  • Retinol 8 with Retinyl Retinoate: Combines the highly effective antiaging properties of vitamin A acid and retinol; dramatically decreases the UV sensitivity usually associated with retinol.
  • Niacinamide: Beneficial for treating dry skin, wrinkles, fine lines, spider veins, hyperpigmentation, and blotchiness.
  • Curcuma Longa Root Extract (from Turmeric Root): Enhances antioxidant activity in skin, leading to a more even skintone, reduced appearance of wrinkles, and improved skin hydration.
  • Tetrahydropiperine (Pepper Extract): Improves absorption of active substances into the skin.
Ingredients: Water, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Pentylene Glycol, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Palmitic Acid, Glycerin, C12-16 Alcohols, Squalane, Palmitoyl Glycine, Glycine Soja Oil, Palmitoyl Proline, Magnesium Palmitoyl Glutamate, Sodium Palmitoyl Sarcosinate, Retinyl Retinoate,Tetrahydrodiferuloylmethane, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ceramide NP, Curcuma Longa Root Extract, Tetrahydropiperine, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Acrylates/C10 – 30 Alkyl Akrylate Crosspolymer, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hydroxide, Ascorbyl Palmitate, BHT, Fragrance.  Made without: Parabens, Sulfate or Phthalates.
Verso Super Eye Serum ($80.00 for 1.01 oz. from Verso, Barneys New York and Net-A-Porter): There are not very many retinol-based eye creams or serums on the market, and this is definitely an effective one. I have sensitive eyes, and am therefore very careful to avoid getting it in my eyes because I have found that it stings if I do. That said, this has only happened a couple of times when I was careless. When I initially began using this serum, I noted that it tingled the skin under my eyes, but once my skin acclimated to it, that subsided. It effectively increases skin cell turnover without peeling or irritating the skin, but the big surprise was the fact that it diminished the appearance of my dark circles, and it reduced the appearance of puffiness on the days that I don't get enough sleep. Furthermore, it leaves skin soft, smooth, supple and firm. I only tend to use it at night, and I have used it alone, and under an eye cream when added moisture is needed.

According to Verso,

Verso Super Eye Serum diminishes the look of eye puffiness, dark circles, and lines. This light and refreshing serum is formulated with retinol 8, a stabilized vitamin A complex, which is eight times more effective than standard retinol in the same dosage. It supports the skin’s natural collagen while reversing the visible signs of aging.

Directions: Gently pat around the eyes morning and evening. For superior results combine with Verso Super Facial Serum and Verso Day and Night Cream.
Select Ingredients and their attributes:
  • Retinol 8 with Retinyl Retinoate: Combines the highly effective antiaging properties of vitamin A acid and retinol; dramatically decreases the UV sensitivity usually associated with retinol.
  • Niacinamide: Reduces the appearance of dry skin, wrinkles, fine lines, spider veins, hyperpigmentation, and blotchiness.
  • Curcuma Longa Root Extract (from Turmeric Root): Provides antioxidant protection for a more even skintone, reduced appearance of wrinkles, and improved skin hydration.
  • Tetrahydropiperine (Pepper Extract): Improves absorption of active substances into the skin.
Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Heptyl Undecylenate, Squalane, Caprylyl Methicone, Diethylhexyl Carbonate, Dimethicone, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Retinyl Retinoate, Tetrahydrodiferuloylmethane, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone, Glycine Soja Oil, Curcuma Longa Root Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tetrahydropiperine, Steareth-20, Dipeptide-2, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, BHT, Fragrance. Made without: Parabens, Sulfate or Phthalates.
Descriptions and Ingredients:
Overall Assessment: I have had great success with Verso's Super Facial Serum and Super Eye Serum, but I would not recommend that you start using a retinol-based product until your doctor says that you have no pre-cancerous or cancerous moles or spots to be concerned about. What might look normal or benign to us, may tell an entirely different story to a doctor. Furthermore, I would never walk outside wearing less than an SPF 30+ when using a retinol-based product. It doesn't matter if the retinol is itself stable, but instead the issue is that one's skin is more vulnerable to the elements when skin-cell turnover is intensified through the use of retinoids, or physical exfoliants for that matter. Therefore, one needs to make sure that their skin is adequately protected. I also think that it is an exercise in good judgment to spot test any retinol-based products before adding them into your skincare routine. Even if your doctor clears you to use them, there is no way to know how your skin will react until you have begun trying it. I realize that I may seem overly cautious, but my doctor is quite accustomed to me coming in with these sorts of inquiries, including lists of ingredients for her perusal. I am simply unwilling to take chances when it comes to topically treating my skin, it is, after all, our largest organ– and it is incumbent upon us to protect it.

Rodial Dragon's Blood Eye Masks | Review

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

RODIAL Dragon's Blood Eye Masks, which are among the newest launches from Rodial, are super hydrating treatment masks saturated with Rodial's iconic Dragon's Blood Complex. This eye treatment mask formula is a life-saver if you have chronically dry or dehydrated skin under your eyes, or are prone to under-eye puffiness. While my skin isn't dry, I have seen the wondrous benefits of using these eye masks. After as little as 20-30 minutes of use, I immediately noted that my skin was dewy, luminous and unmistakably hydrated. Furthermore, the Arnica Extract works wonders on under-eye puffiness– which I was able to put to the test when I was sleep deprived during Maximus's post-surgical recovery– and I noted a radical reduction in the unsightly puffiness after a single 30 minute masking session! As is the case with the Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Face Mask (Reviewed HERE), you simply separate the plastic sheet from the bio-cellulose mask and apply the latter to a freshly cleansed face. Rodial generously drenches each eye mask with an abundance of serum, and there is enough left at the bottom of the packet after I mask that I like to use what remains as a traditional eye serum for several days following my mask treatment.

After my first treatment, I noted that my fine lines were softened, and that my skin was lusciously hydrated and luminous. Furthermore, my fine lines were plumped, my skin appeared lifted and toned, and when I had under-eye puffiness it was radically diminished. Rodial Dragon's Blood Eye Masks are also very refreshing and cooling, and feel so good against the skin.

According to Rodial,

A recent addition to the cult Dragon's Blood range, these innovative eye masks combine the expertise in bio-cellulose technology with the unique dragon's blood complex to intensely hydrate and moisturise the eye area.

Combining expertise in bio-cellulose technology to intensely hydrate and moisturise the delicate eye area with Rodial’s unique dragon’s blood complex. Skin is comforted and refreshed whilst arnica extract helps reduce the look of under-eye puffiness for an instant, brighter-eyed appearance.

Directions: "Remove each eye mask from the plastic sheet and apply bio-cellulose masks directly to the under eye areas on cleansed skin, narrow side towards the nose, wider side to outer corner of eye. Remove protective fabric sheet. Leave for 20 – 30 minutes and peel-away. Gently massage any residue into skin. Discard masks after use." The picture below illustrates what it looks like before you remove the plastic sheet.
Ingredients: Aqua (Water/Eau), Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Propanediol, Croton Lechleri Resin Extract, Olive Oil Glycereth-8 Esters, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Carbomer, Arginine, Glyceryl Caprylate, Xanthan Gum, Panthenol, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Sodium Citrate, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Allantoin, Disodium Edta, Parfum(Fragrance), Hydrolyzed Collagen, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Pentylene Glycol.

About Rodial: "Highly efficacious anti-ageing skincare for all complexions and ages designed to bridge the gap between scientific intervention and natural, plant-based products."
Overall Assessment: If you have dry skin under your eyes, or are prone to under-eye puffiness, then Rodial Dragon's Blood Eye Masks are definitely worth trying. For less than $5.00 a treatment, this is affordable luxury– the likes of which is hard to find!

Exuviance DePuffing Eye Serum | Review

Press Sample Powered by Brandbacker (Affiliate Links)

If you need relief from puffy under eye bags, or desire to tone your eyelids or mitigate the effects of under eye droopiness, then Exuviance has created an eye serum that targets these specific concerns. Periodically I experience mild to moderate puffy under eye bags when I don't get enough sleep, and when that occurs, I definitely need products that reduce puffiness and return that delicate skin to its normal state.

Exuviance DePuffing Eye Serum is a lightweight, and fast absorbing, serum that requires a single click of the plunger at the bottom to activate the flow of serum. The potent serum coats the metal triple micro-roller balls, and it immediately cools the skin and begins reducing the puffiness. Simply roll the applicator across the skin, using a very light touch, and the peptide and antioxidant-rich formula targets microcirculation, reduces the appearance of puffiness and dark circles, and soothes and refreshes the skin. It has a lifting effect that improves the appearance of the texture of the skin, and it hydrates and nourishes the skin leaving it soft, supple and luminous.

While I do not have droopy eyelids, and therefore cannot speak to this serums efficacy in that regard, I can tell you that it unequivocally reduces under eye puffiness. Furthermore, it reduces the appearance of the dark circles that I periodically get when I don't get enough sleep.

According to Exuviance,

Exuviance's special triple micro-roller applicator gently massages to stimulate circulation and drainage while delivering a weightless, high potency depuffing complex of multiple active science and proven botanical ingredients. Together, the massage applicator and customized formula help decongest the eye area and attack puffiness with four different approaches for maximum benefit.

Actiflow and Eyeliss, a unique blend of peptides plus a natural citrus antioxidant, work together to target microcirculation and help strengthen the fragile capillary network, reducing the leaking and pooling that can lead to puffiness and bags. Patented NeoGlucosamine picks up the slack, providing a supportive cushion for collagen and elastin, firming and toning both eyelid and under eye droopiness over time. Caffeine stimulates and invigorates while chamomile, green tea and cucumber soothe and refresh. For an immediate de-aging boost, special micro-fillers soften and smooth the look of fine lines and crow's feet. Roll away puffy bags and restore a fresher, younger, well rested appearance.

Claims:
  • 90% saw eye puffiness reduced within 4 hours of using this eye serum that targets four sources of puffiness.
  • Eyeliss™ and Actiflow® target microcirculation and helps strengthen fragile skin, reducing the pooling that can lead to puffiness and bags.
  • NeoGlucosamine® helps firm and tone both eyelid and under-eye droopiness over time
  • Triple micro-roller applicator massages to stimulate circulation, while delivering serum to the eye area.
  • Caffeine helps stimulate and invigorate the skin.
  • Chamomile, Green Tea and Cucumber refresh the eye area.
Directions: Depress plunger once. Using gentle pressure, roll under each eye from inner corner to outer corner for up to 10 seconds. Repeat under brow bone. Gently smooth in any excess until absorbed. Use twice daily. Can be applied under eye cream or makeup. Initial use: Holding pen with roller ball up, depress plunger several times to start the flow of serum.

Precautions: For external use only. Avoid getting into eyes. If contact occurs, rinse well with water. If rash or irritation develops, discontinue use. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, seek medical assistance.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Isododecane, Dimethicone, Acetyl Glucosamine, Glycerin, Polysilicone-11, Polysorbate 80, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Dipeptide-2, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Butylene Glycol, Caffeine, PEG-14M, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Extract, Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone, Citric Acid, Steareth-20, Propylene Glycol, Sorbitan Isostearate, Polysorbate 60, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol, CI 42090 (Blue 1), CI 15985 (Yellow 6).
Overall Assessment: I am very impressed by the extent to which this serum is able to eradicate under eye puffiness and dark circles, and I love how soothing and refreshing it feels against the skin.  It works beautifully alone, if you only seek light hydration, but pairs well with your favorite eye cream if you require added moisture. This is a very nice serum, and definitely one worth consideration if you are prone to puffy under eye bags or dark circles, but it's also nice to have on hand for those days that you don't get as much sleep as you need.
