Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Glowing Skin Palette | Review and Swatches

Purchased (Affiliate Links)

If you feel about Charlotte Tilbury as I do, then you are undoubtedly thrilled by the prospects of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Exclusive Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Glowing Skin Palette, and while I eagerly anticipated its arrival at my doorstep– I imagined its ultra-finely milled textures, perfect finishes and gorgeous natural colors. Did it live up to my musings? No, it exceeded them. In fact, this is one of the best makeup purchases that I have made this year.

I have included swatches comparing Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Glowing Skin Palette and with the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Blush Glow Light to Medium Palette (Reviewed HERE), and I also compared the blushes from the Pretty Glowing Palette with Tom Ford Beauty Frantic Pink (The original version) and Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusher in Love Glow (Reviewed HERE) and Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusher in Love is the Drug (Reviewed HERE) in order to help you determine whether or not you need this stunning new palette. The luminous finishes of the blushes, bronze & Contour and highlighters are ultra-flattering on the skin without being glittery and overdone. They create the perfect luminous finish.
Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Glowing Skin Palette $75.00 ($153.00 value from Nordstrom): This is a gorgeous face palette that is comprised of 6 ultra-finely milled powders. There is a face powder, a bronze and contour, two blushes and two highlighters. It features, "everything you need to look instantly healthy, glowing and pretty." Each powder glides across the skin effortlessly and deposits color evenly. None of the powders settle into lines, nor do they emphasize pore size. Of the six powders in this palette, the only one that isn't a good match for my complexion is the Airbrush Powder #2 which is too warm to wear as an all-over face powder.
Palette includes:
- Airbrush Powder #2 (a warm powder with golden undertones and a soft velvety texture)
- Bronze and Contour (a neutral cocoa to tone, slim, sculpt and define)
- Blush in Pretty (a youthful rosy flush to illuminate any skin type)
- Summer Blush (a bright coral with a soft sheen)
- Illuminating Glow (top left) (a soft champagne to highlight and illuminate)
- Highlighting Glow (bottom right) (opalescent with golden/pink undertone to layer and highlight)
How to use: Begin with the Powder to set your look. Then, use the Bronzer to contour and create a natural, tanned glow. Choose your perfect Blush shade and follow right below the cheekbones to brighten your look. Then, choose your perfect Glow shade and highlight along the cheekbones, cupid's bow, nose and chin to finish off a beautiful, glowing look.
Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Glowing Skin Palette and Filmstar Bronze & Blush Palette compared
The Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Glowing Skin Palette boasts the same extraordinary quality as the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Blush Glow Light to Medium Palette, and the colors are close enough that you might not "need" the Pretty Glowing Palette if you are only getting it for the bronzer and blushes. That said, the entire palette is quite impressive, and that has made this a very worthwhile purchase for me. Furthermore, I am such a fan of Charlotte Tilbury Beauty that I simply could not pass up the opportunity to own this beauty.
If you were obsessed with the original version of Tom Ford's Frantic Pink Cheek Color, then you undoubtedly can see that Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Blush is quite close in hue. However, while Pretty Blush and Summer Blush boast the same enviable textures as the Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blushers, you can clearly see that Love Glow and Love is the Drug are far more pink that the peachier hues found in the Pretty Glowing Skin Palette.
Overall Assessment: I cannot sufficiently underscore the extent to which I am obsessed with this gorgeous palette, and I highly recommend it. A+

FAVORITE BRONZERS: HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING BRONZERS & CHARLOTTE TILBURY FILMSTAR BRONZE & BLUSH GLOW

Press Sample & Purchased (Affiliate Links)

The Makeup Wars! Team is featuring our favorite sunless tanners and bronzers, and while I don't use self-tanners and bronzers for the body, there are two brands that I love so much that I actually really enjoy using their powder bronzers for the face. The first is HOURGLASS and the other is Charlotte Tilbury. Both are cruelty-free luxury brands that boast stupendous ultra finely milled textures, and they are a tremendous pleasure to use.
When HOURGLASS, which is 100% Cruelty-Free, launched the HOURGLASS Ambient Lighting Bronzers– I suspected that I would love them, despite the fact that I have never been that interested in bronzers.

In fact, HOURGLASS Ambient® Lighting Bronzers are just truly spectacular! These lightweight ultra-finely milled bronzers are fused with the gorgeous illuminating effects that define the HOURGLASS cult-classic Ambient Lighting Powders, and the end result is spectacularly luminous bronzers that are, in my opinion, peerless.

They offer buildable coverage coupled with a natural glow that offers a radiant finish that is nothing short of perfection. Unlike traditional bronzers, which are often flat and have a tendency to oxidize, and turn orange on my skin, these beautiful powder bronzers utilize, "Photoluminescent Technology for seamless blending and color transitions."

These gorgeous in the pan, and on the skin, bronzers are handmade using an, "advanced miscelare technique" which mixes the powders to create the perfect balance of pigment and powder, and that is precisely why each one is unique.

Diffused Bronze Light is described as a, "cool bronze shade fused with Diffused Light, a soft, pale yellow powder, to mimic a ray of warm sunlight" that is ideal for light to medium complexions. It boasts the perfect amount of luminosity without being glittery. It is ultra-finely milled, and it glides across the skin effortlessly and deposits pigment evenly. It neither settles into fine lines, nor does it emphasizes pores. It is utterly gorgeous, and is, without question, my current favorite bronzer. It should be noted that it remains true to color, it never oxidizes, and it wears all day without fading.

Nude Bronze Light is described as a, "neutral bronze shade fused with Nude Light, a soft, translucent powder, to mimic a subtle warmth" that is ideal for light to medium complexions. It is finely milled, albeit a bit more stiff and slightly less luminous than Diffused Bronze Light, and it glides across the skin effortlessly and deposits pigment evenly. Like Diffused Bronze Light, it neither settles into fine lines, nor does it emphasize pores. It, too, remains true to color, it doesn't oxidize, and it lasts all day long without fading.
According to HOURGLASS,

Ambient® Lighting Bronzer fuses the illuminating effects of Ambient® Lighting Powder with bronze pigments to add depth and dimension for a natural, sun-kissed glow. The sheer, airy formula sweeps on softly for a healthy-looking, radiant finish.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
• The airy, lightweight bronzers fuse the illuminating effects of Ambient® Lighting Powder with bronze pigments to deliver buildable color and a radiant finish.
• While traditional bronzer tends to be flat, Ambient® Lighting Bronzer uses Photoluminescent Technology for seamless blending and color transitions.
• The hand-made powders are formulated using an advanced miscelare technique - which means "to mix" in Italian - creating the perfect balance of pigment and powder, and no two look alike.
• Ambient® Lighting Bronzer can be used alone for subtle warmth and contouring or paired with Ambient® Lighting Powder to create depth and dimension.

I am utterly smitten with my recent purchases of Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusher in Love Glow and Love is the Drug (Reviewed HERE), and therefore I just had to purchase the much raved about Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Blush Glow Light to Medium. I have cool-toned skin, and therefore I avoid orange-hued bronzers, and those with the tendency to oxidize, and therefore I felt reasonably certain that this one would work for my skin.
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Blush Glow Light to Medium two ultra-finely milled powders that feel silky-smooth, and creamy, to the touch. Both glide across the skin effortlessly, deposit color evenly, and they neither emphasize pores, nor do they settle into fine lines.

The neutral, and very flattering, bronzer is a skin-flattering light tan shade that is punctuated by luminous golden pearl that gives the complexion an ethereal glow. It offers sheer to buildable coverage, and can be used as a bronzer and a contour shade. I am pleased to say that it remains true-to-color, and never oxidized on my skin.

The blush, which is a very flattering neutral soft pink, has the perfect amount of golden pearl for a glowing, lit-from within, flush that is so beautiful on the skin. The color is a fairly close match for Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusher in Love is the Drug, and therefore if you are trying to select one or the other, then Filmstar Bronze & Blush Glow Light to Medium should be your choice if you want a bronzer too, otherwise save yourself some money and purchase Love is the Drug.

The palette, which includes its own brush, is the perfect size for travel, and the elegant Deco-inspired palette is pretty enough to leave out on your vanity. The small brush, which appears to have synthetic bristles, has a short handle and a full size head, and works perfectly with the palette.
According to Charlotte Tilbury,

The Mini Artistry Blush Brush comes with this bronzer & blusher palette to make application a breeze.

Blend the colors seamlessly together, using circular motions with your brush.

Kosås Color & Light Pressed and Color & Light Creme Blush and Highlighters | Review and Swatches #KOSAS

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

You likely recall that I waxed poetic about the wonderful Kosås Weightless Lip Colors (Reviewed HERE) some time ago, and I am now thrilled to share Kosås Color & Light Pressed and Kosås Color & Light Creme duos with you. Each duo includes a blush and a highlighter shade or a bronzer (that can be used as a blush or contour) and a highlighter, and as the names suggest they feature powder and cream formulas.
I have all of the shades, except for Velvet Melon, which is described as, "a juicy peach hue that brings youthful vitality and boundless energy everywhere it goes."

Of the five shades that I have, I noted that the powder shades unilaterally offered buildable coverage and greater intensity in pigmentation than the cream formulas. They can be sheered out or built-up and offered all-day wear on my normal/combination skin, without the need for a primer. The creme formulas were less buildable, because of their emollience, but they lasted most of the day on my skin, without a primer.
Kosås Color & Light Pressed in Contrachroma ($34.00 for 0.28oz/8g from Kosås, b-glowing,  Credo Beauty and Neiman Marcus): Described as "A golden bronzing duo for a radiant, sun-kissed glow or subtle, sophisticated definition," this ultra-finely milled pressed powder duo is silky-smooth to the touch and it glides across the skin effortlessly, depositing color evenly. It neither settles into pores, nor does it emphasize fine lines. The sun-kissed bronzer shade, which is a stunning carmelized burnt peach, can also be used as a contour or a blush, and it is neither orange, nor does it oxidize. Instead, it offers the skin warmth and depth without appearing too flat, or too luminous, and it has enough of a glow without being overdone in the least bit. The highlighting shade, which can be mixed with the bronzing shade, is a refined and glowing ivory that creates a beautiful lit-from-within glow that is very flattering on the skin.

According to Kosås,

The sun and the moon. The light and the dark. A golden bronzing duo for a radiant, sun-kissed glow or subtle, sophisticated definition.

Pressed powder blush for the perfect emphasis. Deceptively simple and beautifully complex, each color is designed to optically blend with a range of skin tones, for a universally flattering effect. Refined pigments and soft, finely milled powder are enhanced with nylon molecules for a silky, veil-like feel and controllable, buildable intensity. Matte-ifying without drying, jojoba and moringa oils, rice bran, and rosemary extract give a skin cushioning treatment with every application.

Directions: Using a brush, apply to apples of the cheeks for a warm, natural-looking blush, or to cheekbones for bronzed definition. For a warm monochromatic look, apply along upper lashline and blend. Sweep highlighter wherever illumination is desired.

Ingredients: Mica, Zinc Stearate, Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride, Nylon 12, Lauroyl Lysine, Silica, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Boron Nitride, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Moringa Oleifera (Moringa) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Tocopherol, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77499, CI 77491, CI 77492), Yellow 5 Lake, Carmine
Kosås Color & Light Creme in Tropic Equinox ($34.00 for 0.32oz/9g from Kosås, b-glowing,  Credo Beauty and Neiman Marcus): If you prefer cream bronzers, blushes and highlighters to their powder counterparts, then the Kosås Color & Light Cremes are sure to delight. Tropic Equinox features a warm caramel bronzer, which can be used as a blush or contour shade, that has a luscious creamy texture and a beautifully luminous finish. It neither settles into fine lines, nor does it emphasize pores, and it lightly moisturizes the skin. The highlighter shade, which can be mixed with the bronzer shade for added luminosity, is an infinitely flattering peachy golden beige with a gorgeous natural glow.

According to Kosås,

The prismatic bronzer duo. A shortcut to a warm and breezy, sun-kissed complexion. The building blocks for luminous, muse-worthy contours. Bask in the glow.

Creme blush for complexion with dimension. Optically blended colors designed and chosen to cultivate naturally radiant, lit-from-within luster on a range of skin tones for a universally flattering effect. Weightless, buildable formulas inspire intuitive application, with effortless blendable layering and soft, smooth finishes. Enhanced with nourishing face oils including marula, rosehip seed, grape seen, green tea, and myrrh, it’s beyond color.

Directions: Using fingertips, apply to apples of the cheeks and blend as a warm, neutral blush.
For a touch of sun, lightly dab on cheeks and across bridge of nose and blend to sheer.
For definition, apply to hairline, under cheekbones, and around jawline, and blend and build to desired opacity. Blend highlighter wherever illumination is desired.

Ingredients: Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Isononyl Isononanoate, Micocrystalline Wax (Cera Microcristallina), C10-18 Triglycerides, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula) Seed Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Commiphora Myrrha Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Extract, Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethyhexylglycerin, Silica, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, 77492, 77499), Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Red 30 Lake (CI 73360)
Kosås Color & Light Pressed in Papaya 1972 ($34.00 for 0.28oz/8g from Kosås, b-glowing,  Credo Beauty and Neiman Marcus): This ultra-finely milled powder duo, which is creamy to the touch, features such gorgeous shades. The blush, a stunning peachy orange, is neither too flat, nor too luminous. Instead, it features a refined finish punctuated by subtle luminosity. It glides across the skin effortlessly, depositing color without setting into fine lines or pores, and it flatters the skin with a natural glow. The highlighter shade is a gorgeous golden beige that imparts the perfect glow without being in the least bit overdone or glittery. When blended with the blush, the two transform into a stunning warm luminous peach.

According to Kosås,

The afterglow. A multidimensional peachy hue to create fresh faced youth and luminous beauty. A duo for all over brightening and instant refreshment any time of day or night.

Directions: Using a brush, apply to the apples of the cheeks for a healthy flush. Sweep highlighter wherever illumination is desired.

Ingredients: Mica, Zinc Stearate, Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride, Nylon 12, Lauroyl Lysine, Silica, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Boron Nitride, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Moringa Oleifera (Moringa) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Tocopherol, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77499, CI 77491, CI 77492), Yellow 5 Lake, Carmine

Kosås Color & Light Creme in 8th Muse ($34.00 for 0.32oz/9g from Kosås, b-glowing, Credo Beauty and Neiman Marcus): The blush, which is a mauve-kissed pink, has a juicy luminous finish that creates a natural flush. It neither settles into lines, nor does it emphasize pore size. The highlighter, which has a whisper of rose gold combined with the golden pink shade, has a beautiful luminous finish punctuated by subtle shimmer. It creates a gorgeous ethereal glow, and can be worn alone, or mixed with the blush shade for added impact and luminosity.

According to Kosås,

The floral flush. A true pink rouge and cosmic highlighter that brings romance to life and captures pure hearts. Modern love.

Creme blush for complexion with dimension. Optically blended colors designed and chosen to cultivate naturally radiant, lit-from-within luster on a range of skin tones for a universally flattering effect. It also glides across the skin effortlessly, deposits color evenly, and neither emphasizes fine lines, nor does it settle into pores. The highlighting powder, which can be used alone or mixed with the blush, is a glowing cool-leaning ivory with a gorgeous luminous finish.

According to Kosås,

The new rouge duo. An iconic pink rose through the lens of the cool, moody northern light. A modern wind-kissed flush.
