Empties Post Volume LVIV: December 2017

Press Sample & Purchased (Affiliate Links)

As you can clearly see, I managed to finish up a significant pile of products in December. I attribute most of it to the fact that I had a large number of mostly used products hiding in the back of drawers and cabinets, but I also have to say since it is the end of the year that I wanted to clear out my cabinets before ringing in 2018.

neuRadiance Instant Cell Exfoliator: This is an anti-inflammatory cleanser which warms the skin once applied and cools it after it's rinsed off. Emollient and skin conditioning meadowfoam seed oil delivers superior skin softening benefits leaving the skin calm, relaxed and exfoliated. Would I use it again? It's good, but I have so many exfoliators to use up that I won't likely purchase another tube.

Aesop Parsley Seed Facial Cleanser: This is a gentle cleanser that was made for all skin types, but that is particularly effective for combination or troubled skin types. Aesop describes it as a, "clarifying gel thoroughly removes surface impurities and offers mild exfoliation from Lactic Acid. Ideal for maintaining immaculately clean skin in polluted urban environments." They further assert that it is, "gentle enough for all skin types and can be used throughout the year in all climates. The Lactic Acid in this formula has been included for its ability to gently remove dry and damaged layers of skin, improving the texture of the skin and making it feel softer and smoother."

I use Aesop Parsley Seed Cleanser either by itself, or with my FOREO LUNA, and the results are remarkable either way. It produces a creamy rich lather that has a delectable herbal scent. The Lactic Acid gently removes dead skin cells, and cleans pores, and leaves my skin soft and silky smooth. My skin, while thoroughly cleansed, is not left stripped or taut. Would I use it again? Yes, definitely!

Masque Bar Spa @Home Foaming Oxygen Bubble Cleanser: This foaming cleanser effectively exfoliates dead skin cells without stripping the skin, and leaves it feeling soft, smooth and luminous. The Spa @Home Foaming 02 Bubble Cleanser contains micro-bubbles that draw out dirt, impurities and makeup while the potent orange, lemon, and tea tree extracts exfoliate and brighten the skin. Once activated, the bubbles tickle the skin, but I find it quite pleasant. The aroma is quite faint, and should pose no problem for people who prefer no fragrance in their skincare products. Would I use it again? Maybe, but it will be quite a while before I need another cleanser.

Jeffrey James The Exfoliant Radiant Complexion Scrub: This remarkably effective exfoliant gently lifts dead skin cells, but the Bamboo and Raspberry draw out impurities, while that Tangerine and Oilive offer skin radiance and clarity. This antioxidant rich exfoliant leaves skin soft, supple and velvety smooth, but it also leaves it hydrated– rather than stripped. It has a delectable fruity aroma that delights the senses– especially when it is enhanced by warm water. Would I use it again? Yes, I really loved it!

AMOREPACIFIC Treatment Cleansing Foam: This foaming cream cleanser deeply cleans the skin, removes every trace of makeup and dirt and leaves skin very soft. Would I use it again? Probably not because I have so many cleansers in rotation.

AMOREPACIFIC Treatment Enzyme Peel: This cult-favorite enzyme peel is an exfoliating powder that is activated by adding water, and it removes every trace of dirt and makeup effortlessly. I find that I can only use it once a week, on my normal/combination skin– otherwise I find it a bit drying. Would I use it again? Probably not because I have several other powder exfoliators from Tatcha and Rodin Olio Lusso that I prefer.

Hapbee Face Bar: This is a wonderful face bar that has the light aroma of oatmeal and honey that is comforting and calming to the skin. It thoroughly cleans the skin without stripping it, and it calms irritable, sensitive skin. Would I use it again? At some point, perhaps, but I am currently swimming in more cleansers than I could use so many cleansers.
Aesop B & Tea Balancing Toner: I didn't use this long enough to decide whether or not I want to buy a replacement, but I really like it a lot. It smells a bit like Ylang Ylang, which I love, and it leaves my skin feeling very clean and refreshed. Would I use it again? Maybe.

EmerginC Pomegranate Cleanser: This is a luscious lathering cleanser that thoroughly cleans the skin, but that is remarkably gentle. emerginC Pomegranate Cleanser is one of those unicorn cleansers that lathers, but instead of stripping the skin and leaving it taut it leaves it quenched, soft, supple and hydrated. It works wonders when used alone, or in conjunction with a cleaning device like the FOREO LUNA or the Clarisonic. Would I use it again? Yes, I really loved it!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater: Mario Badescu's Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater is the perfect refreshing treat for the skin and the senses! It hydrates skin, feels great, and smells like roses! I use it any time of the day, but for an added treat I store it in the refrigerator for the most refreshing spritz of hydrating rose happiness during the warm weather! I have even set my makeup with this lovely and refreshing infusion, and it does an amazing job. Would I use it again? Yes, I am already on my third or fourth bottle!

Arbonne RE9 Lifting and Contouring Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen: This is a rich, hydrating cream that is remarkably lightweight and fast absorbing. It contains a mineral sunscreen with an SPF 15, and it leaves behind no white residue or film. I makes skin look and feel lifted, moisturized, smooth and supple. I still use a stand-alone sunscreen since my dermatologist told me to never leave the house wearing less than an SPF 30. Would I use it again? Probably not, I liked it but I prefer using creams with at least an SPF 30+.

LA PEAU Eye Contour: Soothing & Replenishing: That I am prone to milia has been well-documented in these virtual pages, and the triggers tend to be overly-rich eye creams that are filled with petrolatum and mineral oil at the top of the ingredients list. I can tell you that there wasn't even the slightest hint of the formation of an unwanted milia with the use of this eye cream. Instead, my delicate eye area was left soft, supple, smooth, ultra-hydrated and luminous. My skin appeared fresh and taut, while fine lines were softened to the point of being barely noticeable. LA PEAU Eye Contour is lightweight and fast absorbing, and the results are immediate. If your skin is prone to dehydration– you will be astounded by the efficacy and speed with which the results become visible. Would I use it again? Yes!

LA PEAU Night Cream-Gel Age Defying Complex: After cleansing my skin at night, I would apply a small amount of this cream to my face, neck and décolleté and watch as it mysteriously sunk into my skin immediately. While I noted that my skin immediately became ultra-hydrated and luminous– it wasn't until the following morning that I would really see the difference. I looked more rested, my skin looked more plump, and my fine lines were softened. Would I use it again? Definitely!

Radical Skincare Skin Perfecting Screen SPF 30: I have very a short list of favorite facial sunscreens, and Radical Skincare Skin Perfecting Screen SPF 30 remains among my all-time favorites! This non-chemical mineral sunscreen has a lightweight, nearly watery consistency that melts into the skin and leaves behind no white cast or greasy residue. It dries completely clear, and it gives skin a gorgeous luminosity. Furthermore, it serves as a phenomenal makeup primer, and it utilizes "diamond encapsulation to deflect light and blur wrinkles"– all of which makes this skin perfecter something of an Instagram filter in a bottle. In fact, I have noticed that I can forego a foundation or tinted moisturizer because this sunscreen makes my skin look so even in tone and luminous. Would I use it again? Definitely!
Farmhouse Fresh Blushing Agave Body Oil: Given my penchant for face oils and body oils, it should come as no surprise that I am particularly in love with this luxurious body oil. This mid-weight body oil is ultra-nourishing and fast absorbing, and its light aroma is a lovely mixture of coconut milk and red berries. It leaves my skin deeply moisturized, soft, smooth and supple. Would I use it again? Definitely, I love this body oil!

evanhealy Argan Intensive Facial Serum with Frankincense: evanhealy makes absolutely phenomenal clean and healthy skincare products, and her beauty oils rank among my favorite. evanhealy Argan Intensive Facial Serum with Frankincense is a deeply nourishing luxury beauty oil that leaves skin luminous, hydrated, soft and supple. Furthermore, it plumps fine lines and reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation. It is lightweight and fast absorbing, and the scent is utterly divine. Would I use it again? Definitely!

Kneipp Joint & Muscle Herbal Arnica Bath Oil: If you have sore muscles in need of relief, then this wonderful Arnica Bath Oil offers relief, and the added benefit is that skin is left soft and moisturized. The aromatic Rosemary, Pine and Arnica Oils are warming and uplifting. Would I use it again? Yes, in fact I already have a big bottle!

Kate Somerville Dilo Oil: This is a lightweight and fast absorbing face oil, but I didn't have enough time testing it to decide whether I want to get the full size. Would I use it again? Maybe.

Rodin Olio Lusso Geranium & Orange Blossom Face Oil: I used this sample and fell madly in love with this delectably fragrant Geranium & Orange Blossom. So much so, that I purchased a full size bottle. Would I use it again? I already purchased a full size bottle.

Rodin Olio Lusso Jasmine/Neroli Luxury Face Oil: This beautiful, and luxurious, face oil is ultra nourishing and hydrating, and it leaves skin remarkable soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. The aroma, which is a beautiful blend of Jasmine and Neroli, is utterly intoxicating and addictive. This has been one of my very favorite oils for several years, and I cannot imagine being without it! Would I use it again? I already repurchased another full size bottle.

Darphin 8 Flower Nectar: This just wasn't a big enough sample to be able to determine what I think about this oil. It seems quite nice, but I will need to try a few more samples before I am able to formulate a more meaningful opinion. Would I use it again? I would like to try more samples.
Exuviance Performance Peel AP25: This two-part peel (activator and neutralizer pads) is highly effective at exfoliating dead skin, stimulating cell renewal and revealing soft, smooth and supple skin. Unlike some peels, that can be harsh, I found this one gentle enough to use a couple of times a week. Would I use it again? Yes, I would, but I have quite a few left.
LAVANILA The Healthy Fragrance Pure Vanilla: is such an amazing treat to the senses! Where traditional commercial fragrances are loaded with phthalates and harsher chemicals, LAVANILA makes theirs with all-natural and organic ingredients that are completely free of all harsh chemicals. Instead, they infuse organic sugar cane alcohol with a whole host of essential oils and botanicals, and the end result is delectably scented fragrances that are healthy and safe. Pure Vanilla is a warm and creamy fragrance that is absolutely delectable! Would I use it again? Without question, and it's definitely my favorite among their scents.

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30: This is a lovely lightweight oil-free formula that is very hydrating for my combination skin. I have been using it for a few years now, and love the way that it makes my skin look and feel. The finish is smooth and natural, and it imparts just enough coverage to maintain a healthy natural glow. Would I use it again? I already repurchased it.

TOM FORD Beauty Lip Color in Nude Vanille: Nude Vanille is nude peachy pink perfection, and while it leans warm in the tube, this gorgeous chameleon of a lipstick morphs once it warms up on the lips. On me, it becomes a touch more pink– which is preferable given my cool-toned complexion. Would I use it again? I have already purchased a replacement.

Leftover lipstick remnants: These are the last bits of lipstick that I scooped out of used up tubes before recycling them. Would I use it again? No. I can't remember what is in each of those little pots!
PediSpa Intensive Moisturizing Foot Mask: This is an ultra-hydrating foot mask that noticeably softens and moisturizes parched feet, and aids in the repair of cracked and calloused skin. Used in conjunction with the PediSpa Exfoliating Foot Mask, this mighty duo makes feet pedicure-ready in no-time. Would I use it again? Absolutely!

Kneipp Aromatherapy Bubble Bath Pure Bliss Red Poppy & Hemp: Kneipp makes the best bath products, and this bubble bath is utterly amazing. The scent is lovely, and the formula doesn't strip the skin or dry it out in the least bit. Would I use it again? Most definitely, I love this stuff!
Topganic Treat Hair Mask with Argan Oil From Morocco For Dry & Colored Hair: One of the best secret weapons to achieve healthy hair is regular deep conditioning, and this hair mask offers deep hydration in only 5 minutes! It is formulated for daily use, but I used it one to two times a week. It leaves hair nourished, soft, shiny, manageable and frizz-free. Would I use it again? Yes, but I don't think that they make it anymore.

Key West Aloe Aloethera Keratin Conditioner: If you need a conditioner that combats frizz, detangles, and moisturizes without weighing down your hair, then Key West Aloe Aloethera Keratin Conditioner is a definite must-try. It leaves my hair soft, silky and ultra manageable. Would I use it again? At some point, but I won't need to buy any conditioner for a very long time!

Kérastase Discipline Spray Fluidissime: This thermal anti-frizz protection spray provides shine and control, and I loved spraying it on my freshly washed damp hair after each wash, and it gave my hair an extra boost of shine and frizz protection. Would I use it again? Without question!

Davines Oi Oil Absolute Beautifying Potion: I have actually been using this hair oil for years, and Davines is one of my favorite brands that I have been using for the last 6-7 years. Would I use it again? I have a full size bottle in rotation, and continue to love it!
Trader Joe's Moisturizing Cream Shave Honey Mango: This remains an absolute staple in our household, and I buy them four at a time. The formula is ultra-moisturizing and creamy, but it does not clog up your razor. It smells delectable, and it leaves skin soft and silky-smooth. Would I use it again? I have already purchased more tubes!

Surya Brasil Sapien Women Shave Gel: This remains my holy grail shaving gel because it is ultra hydrating, it has a delectable tropical scent, and it gives me the closest shave imaginable. It is gentle and nourishing, and such an amazing addition to my shower product line-up. In fact, this is such a great shave gel that my husband uses it for shaving every single day. Would I use it again? Yes.

Dove White Beauty Bar: This gentle, creamy cleansing bar contains ¼ moisturizing cream that leaves skin soft smooth and very clean. I have used this for years, and will continue to for years to come. Would I use it again? Definitely!

Glow for a Cause Body Butter in Wish: Wish is a rich, thick and ultra-creamy body butter that is very moisturizing. It is, likewise, quite concentrated, and therefore a little goes a long way. I apply it to warm damp skin right after the shower, and it leaves my skin soft, supple and very moisturized. While the notes are light florals, white tea, Bergamot and light musks, I read it as a delectable musky coconut. I am smitten with this one in particular because it sits close to the skin and has a beautiful subtle scent as it dries down. Would I use it again? I would.

Moroccanoil Body Butter: This is a delectably scented, very concentrated body cream that is rich, fast absorbing and very moisturizing, The texture is divine and it leaves skin silky smooth and so soft. Would I use it again? Yes!
Savvy Traveler Wipes (listed below): Would I use it again? I still have quite a few left, but would definitely get more for traveling.

Speak Eazy: These are breath freshening wipes that can also clean food from your teeth– what a clever idea!

Take Offz: These wonderful wipes allow you to wash your face without water. If you are on a long flight, these are great to refresh your skin.

Klean Offz: These individually wrapped disinfecting surface cleaners are perfect to keep surfaces germ-free, wherever you are.

In the Klear: In the Klear wipes are lint-free, and therefore perfect for cleaning the lens on your phone, camera, screens and glasses.

No Sweat: These are antiperspirant/deodorant wipes.

EO Natural Deodorant Wipes Tea Tree Single: These are very effective deodorant wipes that I really great for traveling. Would I use it again? I would definitely get these again.

Yuni Shower Sheets: These inventive shower sheets can be used as a washcloth. Their Shower Sheets effectively cleanse and refresh skin, and they are so easy and pleasant to use. Would I use it again? I definitely would for long trips.
End of Month Add-Ons from the Shower and Bath:

Steam Bath & Bath Salts sample packets: Not enough product to judge whether I like them. Would I use it again? I would try them again, if I received samples in boxes, but I am not seeking them out.

JĀSÖN Calming Lavender Body Wash: The hydrating Vitamin E and Pro-Vitamin B5 formula pampers the skin without the use of harsh chemicals, and it neither strips the skin, nor leaves behind a greasy residue. In fact, the emollient lather works spectacularly well for shaving my legs– leaving them soft and smooth. The lavender aroma isn't in the least bit pungent, and has a delectable sweet scent that is both calming and undeniably pleasant. I can hardly wait to try the other scents. Would I use it again? Yes! I plan on purchasing it again!

Kneipp Lavender Shower Foam Relaxing: This delectably aromatic shower foam is creamy-dreamy, it fills the shower with the sweet scent of lavender, and it is wonderfully hydrating. Not only does it clean the skin thoroughly, and without any stripping, but it also works small miracles for shaving the legs. Would I use it again? Without question, it's amazing!

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Drink It Up Coconut Milk Shampoo: This shampoo is gentle, effective, hydrating and delectably scented. It never strips the hair, but instead leaves it soft and manageable.
Would I use it again? Without question, but I have a lot of shampoo to use before making another purchase.

Rodin + Fields REDEFINE Daily Cleansing Mask: is a non-foaming cleansing mask with gentle small polishing granules. I gently massage it into the skin and then allow it to dry. Not only does it clean the skin without stripping, but it also effortlessly removes dead skin, and it draws out impurities from clogged pores. L'ANZA Keratin Healing Oil Intensive Hair Masque: This deeply moisturizing hair mask was formulated to restore strength and resiliency, while boosting shine and moisture levels. It also fights frizz, and leaves my hair silky smooth and very manageable. Empties Post Volume LVIII: October and November 2017

 Press Sample/Purchased (Affiliate Links)

I was so busy at work during the month of October that I couldn't find the time to do my monthly empties post, therefore I combined it with my November feature. As is usually the case, it is the products in my shower that get used the most, but it is also the mostly-used products that I leave out in plain sight to ensure that I actually finish them up before moving on to the next like-product.

Malin + Goetz Grapefruit Face Cleanser: When I use this cleanser, I find that my skin and pores are cleaned thoroughly without being stripped of their natural oils. My skin neither feels squeaky clean, nor does it feel tight and uncomfortable after use. I neither find the smell of the grapefruit to be overwhelming, nor do I find it too harsh. My skin simply felt deliciously fresh and clean. I have decidedly normal/combination skin with an active T-zone, and while I think this is well suited for combination and oilier skin types I have serious questions as to whether people with drier  or sensitive skin types will find this product too astringent. I suspect that the exfoliating effects of the grapefruit extract may be too active for those with dry and/or sensitive skin (at least for use on a daily basis). Would I use this again? Yes, definitely. It is a wonderful cleanser for my normal/combination skin.

KORRES Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser: This is a luscious soap-free cleanser that starts as a cream, but transforms into a superbly luxurious foam.  It is very concentrated, therefore only a tiny bit is needed for exceptional results. Skin is neither stripped, nor left taut and uncomfortable, but instead it is rendered soft, supple and hydrated. It has a delicious warm, floral aroma that is delightful. It works well alone, or with your favorite cleansing device. Would I use this again? Absolutely!

Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel: This is a very gentle non-foaming gel cleanser that removes every trace of makeup. It has a light clean scent that reminds me of the smell of lots of aloe vera based products that I have used, but that is not among the listed ingredients. This hardworking cleanser lifts dead skin, oil, dirt, and makeup, but does so without stripping the skin.  After use my skin is left unbelievably clean, silky and soft. If you believe that your skin will only get truly clean from using a foaming or lathering cleanser- then be prepared for a paradigm shift! Would I use this again? Absolutely, I already have another bottle!

Arbonne RE9 Intensive Renewal Serum is a lightweight and fast-absorbing anti-aging serum that is formulated to hydrate, firm, lift, and soften the appearance of fine lines. It leaves my skin soft, supple, hydrated and fine lines are noticeably softened and plumped. It has the light orange aroma that, while delectable, fades as soon as it is absorbed. Would I use it again? I definitely would, but I am currently swimming in serums and am in too hurry to purchase more at this time.

emerginC Scientific Organics Peptide Booster Serum: This antioxidant-rich, active peptide-filled serum is truly obsession-worthy. It fights free radical damage, softens and plumps fine lines, brightens, firms and deeply moisturizes the skin.  Furthermore, skin is left soft, silky-smooth and luminous. I was actually sad when I finished the bottle, and that doesn't often happen because I have so many products in rotation! Would I use it again? YES! Once I need another serum, this one will be replaced!

Seabuck Wonders Himalayan Sea Buckthorn Facial Cream: What a truly glorious moisturizer this is! It is very moisturizing and nourishing, and yet very fast absorbing. It leaves skin soft, supple, hydrated and rejuvenated. Furthermore, it is has a delectable orange oil aroma that is uplifting, and yet it isn't in the least bit overpowering. This is an exceedingly affordable eco-skincare product that is definitely worthy of your consideration. Would I use it again? Yes, and I just opened another bottle, in fact!

Derma-E Essentials Microdermabrasion Scrub: This exfoliator suspends tiny, and densely populated, exfoliating particles in a creamy base that has enough grit to sweep away dead skin cells effortlessly. The formula is gentle, effective, and non-stripping. Skin is left soft, silky smooth, supple and refreshed. It is a very concentrated formula– therefore this 2 oz. jar should last a very long time unless you are using it on your face and body. It can also be used on your hands, elbows, heels knees– or anywhere you need to exfoliate rough skin. It has a very light aroma with a slight hint of citrus, but it isn't in the least bit cloying or long-lasting. Would I use it again? Yes, and I just opened another jar!

African Botanics Pure Marula Oil: This is a velvety smooth, fast absorbing lightweight oil that sinks into the skin quickly and effortlessly, and it leaves behind no greasy residue. It has a light, warm, sweet scent that is utterly intoxicating.

This antioxidant rich formula is not only a highly effective anti-aging serum, but also a great vitamin and amino acid rich formula that promotes healing and calming of the skin. It is a luxurious moisturizer that immediately plumps, hydrates and balances the skin. Skin is rendered velvety soft, supple, smooth, lifted and hydrated. Furthermore, skin is left with the highly sought after radiance that beauty oil enthusiasts seek out with such vigor!

Among its unique properties, African Botanics Pure Marula Oil is, "ideal as an anti-aging moisturizer or as a serum booster on all skin types all year round. Super fine in texture it stimulates healthy collagen production leaving supple, dewy and deeply nourished skin. Would I use it again? I will use this forever, and I have another full size and travel size in rotation.

Aroma M Camillia Cleansing Oil: If you are among the many who have become obsessed with cleansing oils, then you owe it to yourself to add aroma M Beauty Camellia Cleansing Oil to the top of your list. This luxurious handcrafted gem is the creation of world renown perfumer Maria McElroy, and therefore the delectable scent, alone, is enough to win you over. However, this ultra luxurious cleansing oil does an enviable job in its ability to deeply penetrate the skin to draw out more than just surface dirt and makeup, and it's suitable for all skin types. Would I use it again? No question.
Motives Facial Wipes: These were definitely effective wipes, but I have so many wipes to use that it will be quite a long time before I need to purchase more. Would I use it again? Probably, but I am in no rush.

Aroma Foundry Lavender Essential Oil: This is one of the most lovely lavender essential oils that I have ever tried. In fact, its silky smooth aroma retains all of the finest qualities associated with high quality lavender, while having none of the pungency that some of the lower quality oils feature. I feel as though I am standing in a lavender field each time I smell this lovely oil. Would I use it again? Absolutely!

Assorted Savvy Travelers Wipes:

In the Klear ($10.00 for 10 wipes from Savvy TravelersSavvy Travelers Amazon Store and Nordstrom): In the Klear wipes are lint-free, and therefore perfect for cleaning the lens on your phone, camera, screens and glasses.

Klean Upz ($10.00 for 10 wipes from Savvy Travelers and Nordstrom): These are very convenient hand wipes that keep your hands clean and moisturized. I always carry a couple packets in my purse! Would I use it again? I still have quite a few of each of their wipes, but I would definitely buy more for traveling.
Farmhouse Fresh Rosemary-Mint Gourmet Mineral Bath Soak: Who among us couldn't use a good soak during the stressful holiday season?! This invigorating soak, with its Rosemary and Mint oils, awakens and soothes the skin and senses, and it lets all of your tensions melt away. This is a perfect hostess gift! Would I use it again? YES! I need to purchase more!

Kneipp Pure Bliss Red Poppy & Hemp Bath Salts: These beautiful bath salts relax the mind and body allowing stress to melt away– creating a pronounced sense of well-being. The natural oils hydrate the skin, and the lovely earthy aroma smells heavenly. Would I use it again? Yes, absolutely.

Kai Body Wash: I love all things Kai, and this body wash is among my very favorite body washes of all time. The beautiful white floral aroma is intoxicatingly beautiful and ultra feminine, and this cleanser thoroughly cleans without stripping the skin. Would I use it again? Yes, yes, yes!
Dove Gentle Exfoliating Beauty Bar: I am a huge fan of exfoliating soaps that are gentle, effective and do not strip the skin. This bar effectively exfoliates dead skin cells, but leaves the skin soft, smooth and never in the least bit stripped. Would I use it again? Yes, I am already using another bar!

CeraVe Hydrating Cleanse Bar: If you love rich and creamy bar soaps that are hydrating, gentle and non-stripping, then this one is a real treat to use. This fragrance-free bar achieves an emollient lather that feels wonderful against the skin, and rinses clean without any sort of residue. Would I use it again? Yes.

Farmhouse Fresh Big Bare Whipped Shea Butter Body Polish: I am absolutely obsessed with high quality body exfoliators, and I am particularly captivated by this one! It has a delicious fruity floral scent that is punctuated by a touch of spicy licorice, and it is an absolute treat to the senses as it blossoms when exposed to warm water and skin. It effectively and gently removes dead skin cells to reveal soft, supple and hydrated skin. The sugar crystals dissolve while the Shea Butter melts into the skin providing superior moisture. Unlike many body scrubs that are suspended in oils or butters, this remarkable scrub washes clean leaving behind no greasy residue. Would I use it again? Yes, absolutely!

Dove Shower Foam Shea Butter and Warm Vanilla Foaming Body Wash: This creamy and delectably aromatic cleanser thoroughly cleans without stripping and it leaves skin soft and moisturized. I love this so much that I even use it to shave my legs and underarms. Would I use it again? Yes, it is on my shopping list.

Molton Brown Eucalyptus Body Wash: I am such a huge fan of Molton Brown Body Washes, lotions and creams that it is no surprised that I loved this sample for travel. It is such a treat to the senses, and skin is never stripped. Would I use it again? Yes, absolutely!

Vermont Soap Castile Liquid Soap with Aloe & Olive Oil in Lemongrass Zen: Castile soap is such a wonderful multi-purpose cleanser that can be used to clean your house, your dishes, your laundry, your vehicles and yourself! Lemongrass Zen is utterly delectable and leaves everything smelling fresh and clean. Would I use it again? Yes, without question!

Savon Passion Flower & Coconut Soap: I do not think that this glorious soap is made any longer, but I coveted it down to the very last use. It was moisturizing and smelled delectable. Would I use it again? Yes, and I would but every bar that I could find if it were still available somewhere!
Glow for a Cause Body Butter in Wish: This is a rich, thick and ultra-creamy body butter that is very moisturizing. It is quite concentrated, and therefore a little goes a long way. Yes, I would.

Kiss My Face Cucumber & Green Tea Active Life Deodorant: I have repurchased this deodorant so many times, and need to pick up another next time I go to Whole Foods. I love this stuff! Would I use it again? Yes, and I do repeatedly.

Arbonne RE9 Advanced Hydrating Body Lotion is an exceedingly moisturizing and ultra emollient antioxidant and vitamin-rich moisturizer that works wonders on dry skin and hands. Filled with ingredients like Sweet Almond Oil, Safflower Seed Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Sesame Seed Oil, Avocado Oil, Olive Oil, Orange Peel Oil, Wheat Germ Oil and Aloe Barbadensis Leaf– this lotion delivers deep and long-lasting hydration. While this is a rich lotion, it does sink in quickly, and the high concentration of oils leave the skin glowing, but not in the least bit greasy. It has the delectable scent of the Orange Peel Oil, but I find that it dissipates soon upon application. It's a very effective all-over body lotion that is nourishing and hydrating enough to tackle dry hands and feet. Would I use it again? Yes, in a heartbeat.

PediSpa Intensive Moisturizing Foot Mask ($9.99 for two pairs from Target): is an ultra-hydrating foot mask that noticeably softens and moisturizes parched feet, and aids in the repair of cracked and calloused skin. Used in conjunction with the PediSpa Exfoliating Foot Mask, this mighty duo makes feet pedicure and sandal-ready in no-time. Would I use it again? I still have a mask left, and will likely purchase another box when I run out.
Topganic Brazilian Nut Oil with Keratin Protein Intensive Repair Conditioner: This conditioner protects, nourishes and hydrates the hair and scalp, and leaves hair manageable and frizz-free. Like its companion shampoo, it is a perfect choice for color treated hair, and hair subjected to flat irons, blow dryers and curling irons, but it is also a great choice for people with dry hair. If your hair is feeling dry because of the cold weather, then this is a great conditioner to add into your haircare routine. Would I use it again? I really liked this a lot, and would definitely use it again, but I have a cabinet filled with conditioners that I need to use first.

LUSETA BEAUTY Argan Oil Hair Masque: I always welcome trying new hair masks, and this one promises to revitalize damaged and color treated hair. I found it hydrating and quite nice. It has a light and pleasant fragrance that is neither overpowering, nor is it cloying. Would I use it again? I liked it, but I have so many deep conditioners and masks to use that it will be quite some time before I think about buying any.

Empties Post Volume XLIV: May 2016

Press Samples & Purchased (Affiliate Links)

This month, more than anything, it would seem that the bulk of my empties were generated from things I used up in, or near, my shower. While I really enjoyed these products, it was a relief to recycle them since my shower seems to have become the lab of a mad scientist more than a place to wash up. It has become so overrun by products being tested that it's time to streamline the process in order not to be in a trip-zone. Here is what I used up in May:

Hair and Body Products:

1) Curél Itch Defense Body Wash (reviewed here): Itch Defense Body Wash has a creamy and emollient lather that leaves skin silky smooth, soft, calm and moisturized. I initially feared that the inclusion of Sodium Laurel Sulfate would have been a bit drying on my skin, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was not. In fact, it is emollient and moisturizing enough that I find it to be very suitable for shaving my legs and sensitive underarms. This body wash has no discernible scent.

$5.99-$7.99 10 oz. from WalgreensTargetDrugstore.com and Amazon.

2) emerginC Scientific Organics Citrus Kombucha Body Wash (reviewed here): is a very gentle and lightly lathering body wash that hydrates skin while it thoroughly cleans. Skin is never left taut or uncomfortably squeaky clean, but instead soft, supple and hydrated. It has an intoxicatingly delicious citrus scent that is uplifting and revitalizing. Additionally, the formula so gentle and hydrating that I use it for shaving as well.

$36.00 for 6.7 oz. from emerginC and SkinStore.

3) Everyday Shea Hand Soap in Lemon Verbena (reviewed here): One sniff of this delectably scented Lemon Verbena hand soap was all it took, and I bought 3 bottles. This is a cruelty-free, Certified Fair Trade company that makes high quality products that are filled with nourishing ingredients. Everyday Shea Hand Soap thoroughly cleanses without stripping the skin, and in fact leaves it soft smooth and supple. If you love Lemon Verbena, then you really owe it to yourself to try this lovely hand soap.

$4.99 for 12 oz. Available from Everyday Shea, Whole Foods Market, and other retailers.

This shampoo is Manna from Heaven for curly dry hair, and was specifically formulated to nourish this type of hair that tends to be very dry and in need of extra hydration. It works miraculously well on my curly hair, leaving it soft and nourished, but without any buildup. If you have dry hair, or dry and curly hair, then this is a must-have.

$8.95- $12.49 for 8 oz. from Alaffia and Amazon.

5) Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask (reviewed here): This mask offers dry or over-processed hair intense moisture without leaving it heavy or limp. Whether you have naturally curly hair, colored hair, or hair that you subject to flat irons, blow dryers or curling irons, then this is a great rescue mask to help those traumatized tresses recover.

Neutrogena recommends that  you use it weekly, or as often as needed, and you only need to leave it in for about 5 minutes. I will say, however, that I have left it in for up to an hour, and it leaves my hair silky soft, frizz-free, shiny and remarkably moisturized. It has a light, yet pleasant, scent that seems to fade very quickly.

$5.99-$9.99 for 6 oz. from NeutrogenaDrugstore.comAmazonWalgreens and Target.

6) Kai Eau de Perfum Spray (reviewed here): I remain utterly enchanted by the Eau de Parfum! The scent itself is a slightly lighter version of their perfume oil (reviewed here) and it is lovely all by itself, but I often layer them together in order to add depth to the scent, and to increase the longevity of the wear time.

The exotic scent of Kai’s signature perfume oil, delicately blended into an Eau de Parfum spray. The Kai aroma is a fresh and intoxicating blend of gardenias and white exotic flowers.

$76.00 for 1.7 oz. from Nordstrom and Barneys New York.

7) Little Twig Baby Lotion in Calming Lavender (reviewed here): is a delightfully scented mild lavender lotion that is gentle and moisturizing. It leaves my skin silky smooth and soft, and moisturized for hours. While it was created for the delicate skin of babies, it is such a lovely lotion that it will be enjoyed by people of all ages.

$12.50 for 8.5oz bottle from Little TwigDrugstore.com and Amazon.
Skincare Products:

8) When Travelmate Sheet Mask (reviewed here): WHEN Travelmate is a mask that was conceived to refresh your skin while traveling. It refreshes and deeply hydrates skin in order to protect it against hours of exposure to the elements. It is not a sunscreen, and should not be used instead of a sunscreen, but it does give the skin a tremendous dose of hydration that plumps and nourishes. I was not traveling when I tested this mask, but I noticed the toy skin was ultra-hydrated, luminous and dewy all day long.

This mask is described as a "soft, jelly-like" sheet mask that is generously filled with serum, however there is a lot of serum that falls to the bottom of the pouch that should be used on the neck, décolleté and hands for maximum effect.

$7.00 each and $35.00 for a set of 5. Serum net weight: 23 g (0.8 fl oz) per mask. Available from SephoraUltaAnthropologieBirchbox and Selfridges.

9) When Glamour Base Face Mask (reviewed here): When Glamour Base is a really wonderful mask that was created in order to essentially function like a mega face primer and mask in one. It plumps and smooths skin to perfection– creating the perfect base for makeup. Skin is left soft, supple, hydrated and luminous– not to mention that your makeup stays put all day and looks sensational.

$7.00 eacb and $35.00 for a set of 5. Serum net weight: 23 g (0.8 fl oz) per mask. Available from SephoraUltaAnthropologieBirchbox and Selfridges.

10) Small sample of toner: The label fell off and I can't remember what brand of toner was in this little bottle. Clearly it wasn't terribly memorable!

11) Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion (reviewed here): Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion is a remarkably gentle and soothing non-drying alcohol-free toner, and while it is formulated with the needs of dry and sensitive skin in mind, I will say that it works wonders on my combination skin as well. It feels refreshing on the skin, and leaves it thoroughly clean, soft, balanced, and I have even noted that my skin feels hydrated after use. Additionally, it feels so refreshing on the skin that I find myself reaching for it twice a day for that reason alone! It has a fresh clean scent that quickly fades upon application- therefore the scent does not linger.

8 oz. $15.00 from Mario Badescu and Nordstrom. Also available in 16 oz. and 32 oz.

12) NUANCE Dual Phase Makeup Remover (reviewed here): This makeup remover is formulated to soften and condition the skin while lifting away impurities, and it even tackles waterproof makeup. My eyes have become pretty sensitive so if an eye makeup remover causes even the slightest burning or stinging I won't use it, period. I was really surprised by how easily and effortlessly Nuance Dual Phase Makeup Remover removed all of my makeup, and did so without any pulling or tugging. I just wish that it had fewer chemicals in it, and I see no reason why it needs to contain Red 40 (CI 16035), Blue 1 (CI 42090). It makes no sense to me why this type of product needs any color added-- I would have by far preferred a clear formula!

What did you use up, give away, toss out or return in May? Were there any noteworthy raves? Any total misses?
