That I am rather fanatical about using face serums, should, at this point, come as no surprised to you. However, it is rare that I come across a serum that is so unlike the others that I have tried that it earns the distinction of breaking the mold. That is precisely the case with the StriVectin Anti-Wrinkle Wrinkle Recode Line Transforming Melting Serum.
In fact, most serums are light and watery, principally because most have water, or some other thin liquid as the first ingredient, but with this serum StriVectin sought an entirely different formulation. The first two ingredients, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride and Glycerin, give this serum a thick gel-like texture, and water does not appear until further down the list. The end result is an ultra thick, rich and highly concentrated light pink gel with a very emollient texture.
Its unusual, and very luxurious, texture requires a very specific mode of application: pump a very small amount into your palm, rub your hands together to warm and emulsify the serum, and then it will melt into the skin as you gently press and massage it into your face. While I do note that it melts into the skin, it also leaves behind a bit of a barrier, like occlusives do, that seems to seal in moisture. In this way, one might liken its texture to that of a thicker silicone-based primer or cream, but make no mistake about it, this is all serum.
What I have noticed is that this cocktail of ingredients deeply hydrates the skin, causes the skin to effectively retain moisture, and leaves it soft, smooth and supple. Furthermore, it softens the appearance of fine lines, presumably by plumping the skin, and makes the skin more luminous.
According to StriVectin,
StriVectin’s proprietary BioRecode Technology revitalizes skin’s own wrinkle defenses to reduce the look of lines, creases - and even deep, stubborn wrinkles - in just 7 days*. This super concentrated formula melts luxuriously into skin to visibly plump, smooth and restore youthful radiance. Most of the skincare products in your bathroom cabinet are the result of great chemistry. But Wrinkle Recode was inspired by the revolutionary science of epigenetics, which is the study of how lifestyle and the environment can affect how we age and presents an entirely new and efficacious way to target the root cause of wrinkles.
Claims:
◙ Super concentrated serum visibly diminishes all dimensions of deep wrinkles
◙ Breakthrough BioRecode Technology revitalizes skin’s own wrinkle fighting abilities to reduce the look of lines and creases
◙ Melts luxuriously into skin to restore youthful radiance and clarity
Directions: Thicker than a typical serum, this melting serum requires a slightly different application method. Pump 1 pearl sized drop. Warm in hands, then gently press into skin, all over a clean face AM and PM. This method helps the serum emulsify and melt to spreads and absorb easily.
Key Ingredients: Youth-renewing Oils (Dhatelo & Macadamia Oils): Mimic fatty acids found naturally in skin to replenish and retain moisture Tone Modulating Molecule: Technology to improve radiance and clarity NIA-114: StriVectin’s patented, optimized form of Niacin / Vitamin B3 that is clinically-proven to strengthen the skin barrier and supercharge the performance of other ingredients
I was so busy in August and September that I barely had time to think about my Empties post, and therefore combined the two months together. As you can clearly see from the products that I used, the majority of the products that I finished were the products that I used in the shower. Other than that, I finished up a couple of deodorants, a body oil and some perfume samples. However, the one thing that I endeavored to do was to throw away really old makeup that was no longer suitable for use. Here's what made it into the recycle bin:
Vermont Soap Sweet Orange Bar Soap ($6.98 for 3.25 oz. from Vermont Soap): This delectable natural soap leaves the skin soft, supple and hydrated. The creamy lather is non-stripping, and perfectly suited for shaving legs and underarms. The aroma is a sunny, sweet orange that invigorates and refreshes the skin and the senses. Would I purchase a replacement? Definitely, but I have a drawer filled with soaps– so I won't need to buy any for quite a while.
Dove White Beauty Bar ($2.99-$12.99 for 2-14 bar packs from Target, Walgreens and Bed, Bath & Beyond): This gentle, creamy cleansing bar contains ¼ moisturizing cream that leaves skin soft smooth and very clean. Would I purchase a replacement? Absolutely, but I have quite a few bars to finish first.
Dove Pink Beauty Bar ($2.99-$12.99 for 2-14 bar packs from Target, Walgreens and Bed, Bath & Beyond): This creamy soap contains ¼ moisturizing cream to help make skin soft, smooth and hydrated. It doesn't strip skin in the least, nor does it leave it taut. Would I purchase a replacement? Absolutely, but I have quite a few bars to finish first.
Reverie Farms Citrus Lavender Natural Soap ( $6.00 for a 4 oz. bar from Reverie Farms): Reverie Farms, a small company that makes biodegradable, eco-friendly bar soaps that are crafted with natural and organically grown ingredients that are free of fillers, artificial ingredients or synthetic colors and fragrances. This soap smells absolutely heavenly! It has a rich lather, but it is non-stripping thanks to the saponified oils used. Furthermore, it leaves behind no greasy residue, whatsoever. Would I purchase a replacement? Absolutely, but I have quite a few bars to finish first.
The Body Shop Hemp Soap on a Rope (Regularly $12.00 from The Body Shop): This non-drying soap effectively removes dead skin cells without stripping the skin, and it leaves skin soft, supple and hydrated. It is enriched with Hemp Seed Oil and Shea Butter– making it a wonderful choice for dry skin in need of added moisture. It has a warm earthy scent that is neither overpowering, nor does the aroma linger on the skin for a long period of time. Would I purchase a replacement? Definitely.
ColorProof SuperRich Moisture Shampoo (Available in 2 oz., 10.1 oz. and 25.4 oz. from Salons): Finding a non-stripping and nourishing shampoo that is gentle and hydrating on color treated hair is always a challenge, but when you add natural curly hair into the mix– this becomes a real imperative. ColorProof SuperRich Moisture Shampoo adds lightweight moisture to the hair while effectively cleansing it, and it leaves hair soft and shiny. It has a light aroma that nearly resembles a warm, creamy coconut, but is is neither cloying, nor does it linger. Would I purchase a replacement? Yes, but I have a lot of shampoos to use up before purchasing another one.
StriVectin HAIR Shampoo for Color Treated Hair ($23.00 for 8.5 oz. from Nordstrom, Ulta, Sephora, and Macy's): This pleasantly scented shampoo boasts a sulfate-free and dye-free formula that is gentle enough to use daily without stripping the hair or causing color to fade. While I don't wash my hair daily, because it is naturally dry and curly, I could if I wanted to. This shampoo works very well for my hair because it gently removes all product build-up and leaves my hair soft and shiny. Would I purchase a replacement? I really liked this shampoo a lot, but am interested in trying one of their newest shampoos next time. That said, this was really great for my color-treated hair.
StriVectin HAIR UV Spray for Color Treated Hair ($29.00 for 5 oz. from Ulta, Sephora and Macy's): Not only does this spray offer UV protection, that helps preserve color and protect the hair, but it also smoothes and hydrates hair. It boasts an antioxidant-rich formula that protects against free-radical damage, and its emollience serves as an effective detangler. Would I purchase a replacement? Yes, definitely!
Dove Cucumber & Green Tea Foaming Body Wash ($5.99 for 13.5 oz. from Target, Walmart and Bed, Bath & Beyond): I love the texture of this creamy foam, and the aroma is absolutely delicious. If you love foaming body washes, then I highly recommend trying this refreshing treat. Would I purchase a replacement? Absolutely!
Vermont Soap Castile Liquid Soap with Aloe & Olive Oil in Country Lavender ($6.96 for 8 oz. from Vermont Soap): This has such a beautiful lavender aroma that lingers in the air, makes your house smell like Province, and it leaves you with a sense of wellbeing. This is a fantastic, eco-friendly multi-purpose liquid soap that can be used for the hands and body, but you can also use it for dishes, floors, walls, laundry, bathrooms, cars, or diluted in a spray bottle to clean up just about anything. Would I purchase a replacement? Definitely!
Dr. Canuso Daily Exfoliating Cleanser ($29.95 from Dr. Canuso): This is an amazing daily exfoliator that is specifically formulated for daily use on feet. Dr. Canuso makes the very important point that one should clean the shower floor with bleach in order to kill fungus that gets transferred to our feet, and this often neglected step with go a long way to eradicating foot fungus that one often associates with the gym, and not the home. With daily use, I quickly noted that my winter-worn calloused feet became soft and callous-free. While I do not have signs of foot fungus, I definitely noted a vast improvement in the condition of my feet. Would I purchase a replacement? Definitely, in fact I have already opened another tube!
Frownies Immune Shield Vitamin E Serum ($32,00 for 66ml. from Frownies, Walgreens and StrawberryNet): This multipurpose oil-based serum can be used on the face to nourish and moisturize, heal blemishes, and give skin a dewy radiance. Furthermore, it can be used on the body to nourish the skin, but its high concentration also helps to heal scars and stretch marks. It is a mid-weight oil that sinks into warm, damp skin quickly and it nourishes and hydrates the skin very effectively. It smells like Vitamin E, but its natural aroma fades after its absorbed not the skin. It is wonderful when used alone on the face and body, but my favored method is to mix it with Aroma Therapy Daily Body Lotion and to use it on my body. This combination is deeply nourishing, and it leaves skin unbelievably soft, silky smooth, moisturized and luminous. Would I purchase a replacement? I definitely liked it enough to use it again, but I have far too many body oils to use before purchasing another one.
LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant in Vanilla Grapefruit ($14.00 for 1.7 oz. from LAVANILA, Sephora and Dermstore): I am a longstanding proponent of healthier deodorants, and have been using them since I was a teenager. Though I have occasionally used mainstream deodorants, I do prefer to avoid the chemicals. LAVANILA makes wonderful healthy deodorants that are effective and smell wonderful (though they also make an unscented variant for sensitive skin). Their Vanilla Grapefruit scent is probably my favorite because it smells utterly scrumptious, and offers long-lasting protection. Would I purchase a replacement? Without question. This is one of my holy grail deodorants
LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant in Pure Vanilla ($14.00 for 1.7 oz. from LAVANILA, Sephora and Dermstore): I am thoroughly obsessed with the warm and creamy aroma of this deodorant, and think that it may just be my favorite scent among the LAVANILA Healthy Deodorants. Would I purchase a replacement? YES!
PediSpa Intensive Moisturizing Foot Mask ($9.99 for two pairs from Target): is an ultra-hydrating foot mask that noticeably softens and moisturizes parched feet, and aids in the repair of cracked and calloused skin. Used in conjunction with the PediSpa Exfoliating Foot Mask, this mighty duo makes feet pedicure and sandal-ready in no-time. Would I purchase a replacement? I still have a few masks left, and will likely purchase another box when I run out.
Global Beauty Care Green Tea Makeup Remover Wipes (Full Size. Retail $1.99): I can never have too many makeup remover wipes– both for normal use– and for the veritable swatch-fests in which I engage regularly! I haven't tried these, but they have a nice and clean green tea scent that I like. Would I purchase a replacement? I liked these a lot, and would definitely reuse them in the future, but right now I have a lot of makeup remover wipes to use up first.
YUNI Beauty Sweat, Refresh, Go Kit is the perfect kit to toss in your gym bag. It contains four of Yuni's best-selling natural products that are perfect for people on the go who don't have a chance to shower after a trip to the gym, yoga or pilates studio. The four portable products come in a small canvas cosmetic bag that is perfect for your gym or travel bag. I used up the two Shower Sheets while traveling, and think that they were absolutely great! You simply use them as you would a washcloth by gently wiping the Shower Sheet across skin to cleanse and refresh. They are great after a long flight or drive when you don't yet have access to a shower.
Lift Offz ($10.00 for 10 wipes from Savvy Travelers): These are individually wrapped nail polish removers.
Speak Eazy ($2.50-$10.00 from Savvy Travelers): These are breath freshening wipes that can also clean food from your teeth– what a clever idea!
Klean Upz ($10.00 for 10 wipes from Savvy Travelers and Nordstrom): These are very convenient hand wipes that keep your hands clean and moisturized. I always carry a couple packets in my purse! Would I purchase a replacement? I still have quite a few of each of their wipes, but I would definitely buy more for traveling.
Assorted Perfume Samples: While I love testing out perfume samples, in the hopes of discovering an amazing must-have fragrance, I didn't love the way that any of these smelled on me.
Tossed out: As you may recall from my feature on When to Toss Your Old Makeup, I have been in the midst of throwing away old makeup that I deem no longer usable. I have been ruthlessly going through drawers and carefully checking for changes in smell, texture and consistency, and if things no longer seem right I throw away the contents and recycle the packaging. All of these things featured here either smelled weird, now had strange textures, or had hardened. Some of these things are very old, and I just didn't feel comfortable using them any longer. You will note, for instance, that there are five Bobbi Brown eye shadow singles from back when they made round screw-top lids, and among them are the originals that came without clear see-through lids!
What did you use up, giveaway, toss out or return in August and September? Were there any real hits or misses to report?
I was so incredibly busy at work in the month of January that I didn't have the time to post my January empties, so nearly three weeks later here is my reveal. As has been the case for the last 6 months or so, my success in using up mostly finished products is the result of gathering them up and putting them in the line of sight so that I am more apt to actually use them. My greatest success has become using all of the products that I store in, or near the shower. These things get used by me, and often by my husband as well.
Key West Aloe Bath & Shower Gel Frangipani (Reviewed HERE): is a lathering shower gel that is hydrating and refreshing. The light floral fills the shower with its lovely essence, and it lifts the spirits as it gently cleanses the skin. It is also so gentle on the skin that it works beautifully for shaving.
Neutrogena Rain Bath Shower Gel (Featured HERE): I hadn't used this shower and bath gel in many years, but I used to buy it all of the time! I thought that I would use it during my holiday travels, but instead used it right here at home. I remember why I used it for so long!
Terranova Tuberose Bath Gel (Reviewed HERE): This delicious shower gel has an intoxicatingly beautiful scent features Tuberose, Lemongrass, Ginko, Lotus and Green Tea. The lovely commingling of these notes results in a fresh floral that delights the senses. Skin is left soft and silky smooth, and never stripped. The foaming gel not only does an amazing job cleaning the skin, but it also does an exemplary job as a shaving gel.
Key West Aloe Oatmeal Facial Scrub (Reviewed HERE): This is a very gentle facial scrub that leaves skin ultra-soft, supple and silky-smooth. Skin is never left stripped or dry, and in fact the Aloe Vera hydrates the skin, while the Oatmeal soothes it. Exfoliating not only removed dead skin cells, but also allows for greater efficacy of all of your skincare products that follow, and enables you to use less of your favorite skin treatments. Furthermore, if you avoid excess sun exposure, and opt to use a self-tanner– then exfoliation will allow for more even self-tanning by removing dead skin cells.
Manuka Secrets Exfoliant (Reviewed HERE): This exfoliant is good for all types of skin, and it effectively and gently removes dead skin cells– leaving skin soft, velvety smooth and unbelievably hydrated. It contains two different sized exfoliant particles: bamboo plus jojoba pearl and white clay, and this combination eliminates dead skin cells gently, while the Shea Butter and Rice Bran and Coconut Oils leave skin hydrated. Furthermore, Cucumber Extract softens and soothes the skin. The end result is gorgeous glowing skin
Manuka Secrets Cleanse (Reviewed HERE): This is a non-lathering daily cream cleanser that leaves skin thoroughly cleansed and ultra moisturized. It contains nourishing ingredients like Almond Oil, Manuka Honey and Shea Butter that moisturize and protect the skin, and it removes every bit of makeup without stripping the skin. If you have dry skin, or if the colder weather is wreaking havoc on your skin, then this is a great cleanser to try. It has a warm and earthy scent that is delightful.
Strivectin Hair Color Care Conditioner (Reviewed HERE): Like their shampoo, this conditioner has the same pleasant scent, but it is neither cloying, not does the aroma linger all day. This nourishing formula leaves hair soft, moisturized and shiny. I am even able to get a comb through my hair without any tangles or knots! I love this conditioner, and definitely need to get another bottle as soon as I use up a few more conditioners.
Novex Hair Food (Featured HERE): As I have said many times before, I am a huge proponent deep conditioners, but as is often the case a single test packet doesn't provide enough product to form a meaningful opinion.
Briogeo Don't Despair Repair! Feel Conditioning Mask (Featured HERE): While I don't tend to have much to say about samples, because I can't use them long enough to form a meaningful opinion, I will say that I likes this deep conditioning mask enough to consider purchasing a full size tube. It did a good job conditioning my unruly, dry and curly hair!
Whole Foods Market 365 Shampoos (Reviewed HERE): The Whole Foods Market's 365 Everyday Value line of shampoos and conditioners are really fantastic quality, and they were revamped earlier in the year making them even better than before. They are very affordable, and you can pick them up easily if you shop at Whole Foods. We had three nearly empty bottles in our guest bath that all got finished up in January!
Colbert MD Illumino Anti-Aging Brightening Mask (Reviewed HERE): This is unquestionably one of the very best sheet masks on the market! It is a concentrated Bio Cellulose mask that was conceived to brighten, smooth and hydrate the skin while plumping fine lines, reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation, and by encouraging skin cell turnover. I definitely noticed that my skin had an unprecedented luminosity, that my skin had a pronounced clarity and that fine lines were plumped. I don't have a lot of hyperpigmentation, but I can attest to the fact that this mask gently exfoliates dead skin cells to reveal beautifully glowing skin, and after repeated use it should have no problem reducing the appearance of dark spots.
It is important to note that Colbert MD is exceedingly generous with the amount of serum used in each mask, and that you want to be mindful not to throw away the packet before using all of the serum that pools at the bottom of each pouch.
Surya Brasil Sapien Women Facial Scrub (Reviewed HERE): is a gentle, all natural, exfoliator that effectively removes dead skin cells while nourishing the skin. Skin is left soft, smooth, hydrated, and without any irritation. The tropical scent is refreshing and utterly delightful.
Manuka Secrets Day Creme (Reviewed HERE): is a very lightweight and fast absorbing antioxidant-rich daytime moisturizer that provides long-lasting intensive hydration. Manuka Honey soothes and softens the skin, Hyaluronic Acid binds moisture and plumps fine lines, Shea Butter deeply moisturizes, and CoQ10 supports skin's natural regeneration. It leaves skin soft, supple, hydrated and luminous. The earthy scent only lingers for a few minutes before it fades away. I can't believe that I had two nearly empty bottles in rotation, but because they were readily visible, they both got finished up without much fuss.
MD Sun Super Hydration 8 Serum (Reviewed HERE): is a deeply hydrating and fast absorbing serum filled with nourishing, healing and hydrating ingredients such as Pro Vitamin B5 and Hyaluronic Acid. The formula works deeply to heal and hydrate, and the result is a significant improvement in the texture and hydration of the skin. I am repeatedly astonished by the efficacy of this product, and by the immediacy of the results. Upon application, it is rapidly absorbed and skin is left soft, plump, velvety smooth, nourished and unbelievably hydrated. Only a few drops are needed for the face, neck and décolleté, and it spreads effortlessly leaving behind no residue whatsoever. The results are immediate and long-lasting.
The Organic Pharmacy Rose Plus Anti-Aging Face Cream (Reviewed HERE): is a phenomenal, ultra-potent antioxidant-rich anti-aging face cream that is very effective, makes a visible difference, and does so without harmful chemicals. As you can see from the picture at the bottom of this post, I am a big fan of The Organic Pharmacy, and I always have several of their products in my weekly, if not daily, skincare product rotation.
Rose Plus Anti-Aging Face Cream is a light to mid-weight face cream that is concentrated and that sinks into the skin immediately. This nutrient-rich cream leaves behind no greasy film, but instead leaves skin with a healthy glow. It is deeply hydrating, it improves micro-circulation, it scavenges free-radicals, and it renders skin soft, supple and smooth. After sustained use, it softens the appearance of fine lines, gently exfoliates dead skin cells, and reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation. Skin appears lifted and rejuvenated, and this is honestly about as perfect as an anti-aging cream could be. It has a warm, earthy aroma that is natural rather than artificial smelling, and it calms the senses as it sinks into the skin. This amazing cream definitely warrants repurchasing!
Arbonne Intelligence Genius (Reviewed HERE): I didn't actually finish this entire bottle, but instead poured its contents over the exfoliating pads to saturate them, and make them ready for use. \These pads effectively remove dead skin cells, fade the appearance if sun spots (hyperpigmentation) and leave skin smooth and even in tone.
PediSpa Intensive Moisturizing Foot Mask (Reviewed HERE): is an ultra-hydrating foot mask that noticeably softens and moisturizes parched feet, and aids in the repair of cracked and calloused skin. Used in conjunction with the PediSpa Exfoliating Foot Mask, this mighty duo makes feet pedicure and sandal-ready in no-time.
Assorted Perfume Samples: None of the perfume samples that I tried in January resulted in full-size purchases. Generally, I find that a single perfume vial doesn't provide enough exposure to the scent to result in a purchase, but will often result in testing a few more vials before deciding whether to make the purchase.
What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in January? Are their any winners or duds to report?
StriVectin has so many fantastic skincare and haircare collections that they truly have something for every skin and hair concern. Their mission is to, "deliver the most high-performance skincare and haircare solutions powered by the latest clinical advances to transform the look of your skin and hair. At the center of every formula is patented, proprietary NIA-114 technology that supercharges StriVectin's clinically proven, award winning products." Their cutting edge ingredients coupled with their NIA-114 advanced technology makes each of their formulations highly effective powerhouses that deliver real, tangible results.
Their anti-aging, anti-wrinkle creams and serums that I am discussing today, were created to effectively target the signs of aging on the face, and to restore a youthful, glowing appearance. In the spirit of full disclosure, I have to confess that I neither have wrinkled, nor lackluster dull skin. Instead, my skin has some expression lines at the outer edges of my eyes, and a faint "11" between my eyebrows. I have taken good care of my skin, but I do have an expressive face, and I tend to smile a lot– therefore there are fine lines in those regions. That said, I have to emphatically state that I definitely see a difference in my skin after having used these four products. My skin has greater clarity, fine lines are softened and plumped, and it is deeply hydrated and nourished.
I initially had planned to review each of these products individually, but I was so impressed by their efficacy when used together that I opted to feature them in a single review instead.
StriVectin Multi-Action Restorative Cream ($95.00 for 1.7 oz. from StriVectin, Macy's, Dillards, Ulta, Bloomingdale's and Saks Fifth Avenue): This mid-weight face cream sinks into the skin very quickly, and it leaves behind no residue or greasy film. It was specifically formulated to target the 12 primary visible signs of aging skin, enumerated below, and while I do not have all of those signs, I can state, without question, that my skin looks and feels better since I began using this anti-aging cream. Aside from the rather obvious benefit associated with moisturizing and hydrating my skin, I noted a lifting, plumping and softening of my fine lines, and an overall clarity and healthy glow. My skin feels very nourished, and even in tone, but I suspect that the latter has a lot to do with the increased dead skin cell turnover from the StriVectin Overnight Resurfacing Concentrate (a product that is truly amazing).
According to StriVectin,
When skin is young, naturally occurring "youth proteins" are at optimal levels, which then deplete over time. This restorative cream, with Pro-12 Youth Optimizing Complex, reinvigorates skin to initiate a cascade of revitalizing effects which target the 12 visible signs of aging: fine lines, wrinkles, density, firmness, sagging, texture, dehydration, dullness, discoloration, clarity, resilience and enlarged pores. Patented NIA-114 technology replenishes and strengthens skin's moisture barrier to impede water loss and preserve maximum hydration. Skin is more resilient to time, appearing renewed, healthier and more youthful.
Claims:
Addresses the 12 key signs of aging
Replenishes and strengthens the moisture barrier to diminish water loss
Optimizes skin performance to fortify against future aging
Directions: Apply all over clean face in the AM and PM.
StriVectin Repair & Protect Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($89.00 for 1.7 oz. from StriVectin, Nordstrom, Macy's, Ulta and Bloomingdale's): I love using effective moisturizers with a high enough sun protection factor to be taken seriously. I do not leave the house wearing anything below an SPF 30 on my face, neck, décolleté and hands, and this one not only provides me with adequate protection, but it is also deeply hydrating and leaves my skin so soft and silky smooth. The consistency is lightweight, and very fast absorbing, and there is no white residue left behind whatsoever. It has a velvety texture that effortlessly glides across the skin, and I have found that it does double-duty as a primer– though it is not advertised as such. I love the air-sealed pump jar because it dispenses the perfect amount of cream, and preserves its freshness.
According to StriVectin,
This lightweight, daily wrinkle-fighting moisturizer with broad spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen reduces visible signs of aging, neutralizes free radicals and helps prevent UV damage. The formula combines next generation antioxidant technology and patented NIA-114™ to enhance skin’s innate defenses and boost its age-fighting abilities.
Directions: Apply all over cleansed face in the morning. Follow with SD Advanced Intensive Concentrate nightly.
StriVectin Intensive Eye Concentrate for Wrinkles ($69.00 for 1 oz. from StriVectin, Nordstrom, Macy's, Ulta, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale's): This is a light-medium weight eye cream that immediately sinks into the skin of the delicate eye area. It deeply moisturizes the skin, softens the appearance of fine lines, and it has reduced the appearance of my dark circles when I don't get enough sleep. While I very seldom get under-eye puffiness, I didn't see a significant reduction on an occasion when I did. However, I had a mild cold at the time– so I will have to test it again the next time I have puffy eyes. The optical diffusers really brighten my under eye area, and my eyes always look so fresh and rested when I use this eye cream. Lately this has been one of my most reached for eye creams.
According to StriVectin,
This lightweight moisturizing formula is proven to visibly reduce the look of all types of lines around the eyes, including crow’s feet, squint lines and deep-set wrinkles – starting in just one week. Next generation ocular skin technology powerfully addresses the appearance of under-eye dark circles and puffiness to illuminate and awaken. Patented NIA-114™ technology helps strengthen delicate eye area skin and diminish dehydration. Optical diffusers reflect light to immediately brighten dark shadows and help alleviate visible signs of screen fatigue.
Claims:
Visibly reduces the look of all types of lines in the eye area
Alleviates the appearance of under-eye circles and puffiness
Brightens and diminishes visible signs of screen fatigue
StriVectin Overnight Resurfacing Concentrate ($72.00 for 1 oz. from StriVectin, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's and Ulta): I am such a proponent of exfoliation, and overnight serum-based exfoliants are among my favorite types. I am utterly obsessed with StriVectin Overnight Resurfacing Concentrate because it is so effective, and significant results can be seen overnight. It is a lightweight and fast absorbing serum that neither tingles, nor irritates my skin. I should note that my skin is quite accustomed to exfoliants and peels, and therefore I have something of a tolerance to them, but I find this one both ultra-effective and quite gentle.
I simply apply this at night followed by one of my favorite beauty oils, and a moisturizer if I need more hydration, and when I wake up my skin looks thoroughly refreshed. Skin appears soft, supple, hydrated and luminous. I have never experienced redness, peeling or flaking, but if you have sensitive skin you should patch test it first. If you are on any medications, you should consult with your physical to make sure that you won't experience increased photosensitivity, and as always use a high SPF sunscreen (and reapply it frequently) whenever using exfoliants.
According to StriVectin,
This potent, skin-renewing facial serum restores the visible qualities of healthy skin to unveil a perfected complexion. The ultra-lightweight exfoliating concentrate, with a complex of five powerful enzymes, gently removes dead surface cells and promotes skin renewal for improved texture and clarity. Patented NIA-114™ technology helps strengthen the skin barrier, while delivery of moisture throughout the night leaves skin soft, supple and hydrated. With continued use, the most micro of imperfections are re-fined for skin that is visibly transformed – even under a close-up lens.
Claims:
Restores the visible qualities of perfect skin overnight: smoothness, softness, hydration, nourishment and cushion
Complex of five powerful enzymes gently exfoliates to refine texture and imperfections
Delivers moisture throughout the night to leave skin soft, supple and hydrated
Directions: Apply all over clean face in the PM. For best results, use nightly. Follow with serum and/or moisturizer.
Best known for their exemplary anti-aging skincare products, StriVectin now has an equally impressive line of haircare products to add to their repertoire. As expected, their foray into haircare resulted in products that are exceedingly effective, a joy to use, and affordable. They offer three lines: StriVectin Hair Color Treated Hair, StriVectin HAIR Max Volume and StriVectin Hair Ultimate Restore. I selected the line for color treated hair, and despite the fact that I don't always color my hair, I do periodically. Furthermore, having curly hair means that I need a gentle haircare line that won't dry out my tresses.
