I recently discovered a luxury sunscreen brand that I am thoroughly impressed by, and thought that it was worth extolling its virtues.

Soleil Toujours Sunscreen Mist SPF 50 ($34.00 for 6 oz. from Soleil Toujours, Dermstore, Bluemercury, Cult Beauty, Space NK, Revolve, Barneys New York and Net-A-Porter): This SPF 50 sprays on completely clear, it features broad spectrum protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays, and it contains a selection of organic ingredients that nourish the skin. Ingredients such as Green Tea Leaf, Vitamin E, Red Algae, Cucumber Extract and Hyaluronic Acid, to name a few, nurture, hydrate and protect the skin, and the formula is weightless and non-sticky.

According to Soleil Toujours, 

This clear broad spectrum formula is the only 70%+ organic sunscreen mist formulated without oxybenzone or octinoxate. These two chemicals are the most common sunscreen actives found in the marketplace and are known endocrine disruptors and highly allergenic. Soleil Toujours Aloe Antioxidant Calming Mist ($26.00 for 3.2 oz. from Soleil Toujours, Space NK, Dermstore, Bluemercury, Barneys New York, Net-A-Porter and Revolve): This mist feels a bit more like a serum that a traditional mist. It is a little thicker that a mist, and it is very pampering and calming to inflamed and irritated skin. It is formulated to calm dry and dehydrated skin- that is often associated with sunburn and windburn- but it does an enviable job calming red, inflamed and generally irritated skin. The antioxidant-rich formula, which contains Green Tea Leaf Extract, Grapeseed Oil and Grape Seed Extract, helps to protect the skin against free radicals and the Aloe Vera and Hyaluronic Acid effectively hydrate the skin and maintain hydration. It sprays on clear, sinks into the skin quickly, and leaves behind no greasy residue.

Soleil Toujours Hydra Volume Lip Masque in L' Orangerie ($18.00 for 0.34 fl oz from Soleil Toujours, Dermstore, Bluemercury and Net-A-Porter): This non-sticky mask is ultra nourishing and hydrating, and it contains a mineral (Zinc Oxide), broad-spectrum SPF 15. It is formulated with Soleil Toujour's proprietary "Hydra Volume" formula, which features their EcoSunComplex, and it effectively plumps, smoothes, hydrated and protects the lips. It is a tinted lip balm, and L'Orangerie is a gorgeous peachy nude shade that is perfect for anyone who loves this shade of nude, like me! It has a light, warm and creamy aroma that is punctuated by the tiniest bit of Peppermint Oil, but it is barely detectable since it is the penultimate ingredient on the list.

Overall Assessment: I am quite impressed by these three products from Soleil Toujours, but I am completely obsessed with their Hydra Volume Lip Masque! If you are seeking new sunscreens, then Soleil Toujours is definitely worth trying this season.

If one were to ask me which type of skincare product ranks as my favorite, and most essential, it would seem logical that my answer would be luxury face oils, but in truth my most essential pick is a very effective high SPF sunscreen. Since summer is upon us, the Makeup Wars team is sharing our favorite sunscreens that you will want to know about as the weather heats up.  Here are my most-reached for sunscreens for the face that are in my current rotation.

One seldom speaks in terms of elegance when discussing the anatomy of a sunscreen, but TATCHA has the innate ability to make exceedingly elegant products in even the most seemingly mundane categories such as sunscreens.

TATCHA Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35 is a thick cream housed in a beautiful blue squeeze tube. A light squeeze dispenses the perfect amount of sunscreen without any waste.

MyChelle Dermaceuticals Sun Shield Liquid SPF 50 Non-Tinted ($22.50 for 1 oz. from MyChelle Dermaceuticals and Dermstore): This non-tinted SPF 50 mineral sunscreen has a wonderful light and silky texture and consistency that not only offers the skin superb protection, but it also serves as a perfect makeup primer. It feels luxurious on the skin, and it neither leaves behind a greasy film, nor a white residue. While MyChelle describes its finish as matte, I would add that it has a very natural finish, and no discernible scent.

According to MyChelle Dermaceuticals,

Sun Shield Liquid Tint SPF 50 is a non-tinted, 100% mineral sun screen for maximum UVA/UVB broad-spectrum protection. This silky, colorless formula blends weightlessly and seamlessly. Wear alone or use as a sheer primer under foundation to create a smooth, matte finish. Formulated oil-free and recommended for all skin types.

It nourishes, hydrates and calms the skin while offering an SPF 30– therefore an additional sunscreen is not necessary. You will be pleased to know that it leaves behind no white residue whatsoever.

Goldfaden MD Sun Visor Ultralight Oil-Free SPF 30 Mist ($45.00 for 2.7 oz. from Goldfaden MD, Nordstrom, Space NK, Bloomingdale's, Net-A-Porter, b-glowing, AHA Beauty, Shen Beauty and Skin Care RX): is a wonderfully effective oil-free, PABA-free and fragrance-free SPF 30 sunscreen mist that offers effective UVA/UVB protection against the harmful rays of the sun. It is not merely a good sunscreen, but it is one of the easiest to use, and it makes reapplication altogether fuss-free. As we are all well aware, sunscreen is only effective for about 2 hours after application and therefore requires frequent reapplication to remain effective. This is where Goldfaden MD Sun Visor really excels because it can easily be carried with you wherever you go, and the refined mist does not disturb your makeup. The fine mist applies the sunscreen evenly and it only takes a moment to blend it in.

It applies evenly, it melts into the skin immediately, and it neither leaves behind a greasy film, nor does it leave an undesirable white cast. Furthermore, the antioxidant-rich formula protects the skin while its active botanicals, and other nourishing ingredients, leave skin soft, smooth, supple and luminous. It is the height of luxury given its glorious velvety texture, its impressive efficacy and its enviable ability to play well with makeup. In fact, I have found that it serves as a wonderfully effective primer for all of the foundations that I have paired it with. It has a delectable light and clean aroma, but it fades soon upon application.

That I never leave the house without wearing a high SPF sunscreen, has been well-established throughout these virtual pages, but I may not have emphasized the extent to which I seek out ultra-luxe sunscreens with divine textures and nourishing skincare ingredients. I have numerous favorites in my current rotation, but the latest to earn my love, for its ability to check all of those boxes, is unquestionably Kerstin Florian Multi-Vitamin Day Creme SPF 30. This day cream is richly emollient, seriously moisturizing, and fast absorbing. It applies evenly, it melts into the skin immediately, and it neither leaves behind a greasy film, nor does it leave an undesirable white cast.
