If your hands are dry and chapped this winter, then they are likely in need some extra TLC. Here are my super-easy, and ultra-relaxing at-home tips to restore their moisture. You really don't have to go out and buy any fancy and expensive products, instead use what you love and already have on hand.

Six Easy Steps:

Step 1: Wash your hands with warm soapy water.

Step 2: Fill your clean sink with warm water and soak your hands in the basin. After a few minutes, gently exfoliate dead skin cells with your favorite gentle body or face scrub. Tip: Exfoliate gently because the water softens up your skin, and therefore you don't need to use any force. Note: I always deep clean my sink before I do this since I don't want to soak my hands in a dirty sink.

Step 3: Thoroughly rinse hands and empty the basin. Pat your hands dry leaving them slightly moist.

Step 4: Massage a light body or face oil into your warm and slightly damp hands.

Step 5: Massage a rich cream, body butter or balm into your hands.

Step 6: Put on cotton gloves (if you want to further pamper your hands). This step can be skipped, but it is a nice way to seal in the moisture while using a breathable fabric.

Overall Assessment: Follow these 6 easy steps to pamper and moisturize your dry hands this winter, and you will see quite a difference. I try to do this at least once a week, and in addition to deeply moisturizing the skin, it is also very relaxing and pampering.

The extent to which my hands have been chapped and dry this winter cannot be overstated. In fact, for some reason all of my skin has been unusually impacted by the very dry and cold weather– leaving my skin dry and chapped. One of my go-to picks this season is Kiehl's Ultimate Strength Hand Salve, and not only does it work wonders on my dry hands, but it is likewise incredible for dry feet.

This salve is incredibly rich and emollient, and it has the most delectable whipped texture. It is lightweight and it melts into the skin without leaving behind a greasy residue. It is very moisturizing and it leaves skin soft, smooth and supple. This cream has a light Eucalyptus aroma that is neither overpowering, nor long-lasting, and it does have a slight cooling and uplifting effect.

I continue to be thoroughly enamored of Farmhouse Fresh creations, and their Sweet Tea Shea Butter Hand Cream is an utter delight to use. It is a thick and rich Shea Butter based cream, and yet it sinks into the skin without leaving behind a greasy residue. It has a delightful peachy-tea aroma, that smells edible, and it leaves the skin soft, smooth supple and exceedingly moisturized. Unsurprisingly, it's truly a delight to use, and I find myself reaching for it several times a day because it is such a treat to the skin and the senses.

Hands are among the most neglected parts of the body when it comes to skincare use, and for all that they do for us every single day we often forget to protect and moisturize them. In fact, like the neck, hands tend to become ravaged by the vicissitudes of time when neglected, and therefore a good hand cream and a high SPF sunscreen go a long way toward their pampering and protection.

Jan Marini Marini Luminate Hand Cream is an emollient, lightweight and ultra concentrated cream that delivers a surge of moisture to dry, parched skin. Furthermore, it eliminates dry patches and leaves skin soft, smooth, even in tone and luminous. The antioxidant-rich formula is made with an effective blend of hydrators, and brightening agents such as Azelaic Acid, Licorice Root Extract and Kojic Dipalmitate that fade hyperpigmentation, and retinol to soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. While the skin on my hands is not crepey from aging, I often note that they are dry from neglecting to use hand lotion after washing my hands throughout the day. This cream unquestionably leaves my skin remarkably soft, smooth, hydrated and luminous.
