Cetaphil Gentle Makeup Remover ($8.99-$10.99 for 6 fl oz. from Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Amazon, Walmart and other mass retailers): This is a wonderful ultra-gentle oil-free bi-phase liquid eye makeup remover that even removes waterproof formulas! Overall Assessment: Great drugstore picks worthy of a place in your medicine cabinet year round, but they are also very capable of dealing with all of your Halloween makeup removal needs as well.

I don't often use it in lieu of a cleanser, but on the occasions when I am too tired to do my full nighttime skincare routine, it does a great job thoroughly cleansing my skin.

Overall Assessment: If you love using micellar water, then you definitely need to try Bioderma. It is nice to have different formulas to address the needs of many skin concerns, rather than taking a one size fits all approach. I tend to reach for the Hydrabio and Sensible formulas the most, but on the occasions that my skin breaks out, or my t-zone is more active, then I reach for Bioderma's Sébium Micellar Water. Bioderma is a runaway cult-favorite for a reason, and their micellar waters most definitely live up to the hype! A+

The following morning I wash my face and definitely note that my skin appears soft, glowing and rejuvenated. I should also note that it has no detectable scent, and I didn't experience any tingling or burning, but I would definitely suggest patch-testing it if you have reactive skin.

It is a very lightweight and fast absorbing serum that is loaded with anti-aging antioxidants, but it also includes a combination of minerals and "natural toxin fighters" that draw out impurities while delivering much-needed hydration. This works very well on my normal/combination skin, but I use it as needed– rather than on a daily basis. This probably isn't something that you would use very often if you have dry skin, but you could use it periodically if you live in an urban environment and want to lift some of the impurities and pollution to which you are exposed routinely.

If you have sensitive eyes, as I do, or if you wear contact lenses, then you know the importance of an ultra-gentle eye makeup remover. I have tried so many eye makeup removers that purported to be gentle only to be dismayed when they made my eyes burn, sting and water– all of which often resulted in irritated, red eyes. Lancôme Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover is an ultra-gentle dual-phase eye makeup remover that removes every trace of makeup– including the most resilient waterproof formulas– and it does so without the need to tug or pull the delicate eye area. The other day when I was strolling the aisles at CVS trying to find one last Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter, I decided to look for a drugstore brand eye makeup remover that was very gentle, could tackle waterproof makeup, and wasn't tested on animals-- those three things clearly limited the scope of choices available- so after some looking I decided to try Salma Hayek's Nuance Dual Phase Makeup Remover.
Key Ingredients: Cucumber,
rosewater, chamomile & lavender extracts nurture and soothe the
delicate eye area. Mimosa, blue agave, camapu & prickly pear
extracts soothe, hydrate and firm skin. Glycerin, a lightweight
moisturizer, softens and hydrates skin and lips.
This makeup remover is formulated to softens and condition the skin while lifting away impurities, and it even tackles waterproof makeup. My eyes have become pretty sensitive so if an eye makeup remover causes even the slightest burning or stinging I won't use it, period. I decided to wear a few of my hardest to remove waterproof formulas- MAKE UP FOR EVERAqua Creams & Aqua Eyes to really put this product to the test. These formulas have tremendous staying power, and not all makeup removers are capable of removing these products without lots of tugging and pulling. I was really surprised by how easily and effortlessly Nuance Dual Phase Makeup Remover removed all of my makeup, and did so without any pulling or tugging. I waited and waited for my eyes to start burning or stinging, but they didn't! SCORE!! I just wish that it had fewer chemicals in it, and I see no reason why it needs to contain Red 40 (CI 16035), Blue 1 (CI 42090). It makes no sense to me why this type of product needs any color added-- I would have by far preferred a clear formula!

Overall assessment: I really like this makeup remover. It doesn't burn my sensitive eyes, it leaves my skin soft and supple, and it even removes waterproof formulas with ease. However, I would prefer fewer chemicals in it, and definitely see no reason to add color to this product. It is a really good and economical alternative to expensive department store makeup removers.
