From MAC:
Beth Ditto, passionate provocateur of music and style, collaborates with M∙A∙C on a colour collection with shades ranging from tender to tart. Candy-glossed pop mixes with polished punk sensibility. Limited Edition.
MAC Nightmoth Lip Pencil, while part of the permanent range, is currently being repromoted in the Beth Ditto Collection. MAC describes Nightmoth as a "Blackened plum," however I do see it as more of a burgundy red.Don't let the description scare you off- while this is a very saturated hue it does have a softer more approachable side. It is mind-blowing just how gorgeous this liner really is. It's creamy and easy to apply- no skipping or crumbling here. I have not found it to bleed, and I find that it gives me a good solid 4 hour wear-time while doing normal things like eating and drinking (provided that I'm not eating oily salad dressing).
I will be pairing it with shades like Susan Thompson Cosmetics Creamy Lipsticks in Cleo (review forthcoming) and her Pout Poppers in Evelyn's Journey (review forthcoming) as well as Rouge Bunny Rouge Succulence of Dew Sheer Lipsticks in Murmurings (review forthcoming), and Covergirl Lipslicks Lipgloss in Daring. As you can see from the swatches it can be smudged out lending itself to a more subtle effect than one might expect.
Overall assessment: What's not to love?! This is a gorgeous lip pencil!

I totally wish I could draw an eye ball on my hand lol seriously.. I want to re-enact this pic!
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY-- that's hilarious! You might really frighten your kids if you do that though- mommy having three eyes- one of which is on her hand might be cause for some disturbing nightmares!!

Thats very pretty, though I am sure I couldn't pull it off. I was thinking that colour might look nice as an eyeliner as long as you tightlined with a black, not that you could use that near the eyes though probably..I'll stop mumberling ;)
ReplyDeleteIt would be worth swatching next time you are near a MAC counter-- it really is THAT pretty. Interesting idea to wear it as an eyeliner. I wonder if it would be safe-- because that sounds gorgeous!
DeleteI don't know about those blue dots... LOL. I agree with Replica that it would be a really pretty eyeliner! But with fall collections looming, I'm sure there's something in that colour family coming out shortly.
ReplyDeleteI know, the blue dots might be a touch hard to pull off at work- LOL!!! I love Replica's idea of using this lip pencil as an eye liner as well. I wonder if RBR Delilah eye kohl is close enough. I ordered it, but am waiting for it to ship because of a backordered item in my order. You are definitely right, Liz-- the fall collections are definitely looming and there will likely be things in that color family for the eyes!
