Geri G. Skin Reboot Moisturizer Primer Enhancer is a multipurpose product that moisturizes the skin night and day and it acts as a primer. It is formulated to hydrate, calm, stimulate and rejuvenate the skin. This humectant-rich formula retains hydration and it leaves skin soft, smooth and supple. It is lightweight and fast-absorbing and it leaves behind no greasy residue. Since it doubles as a primer, it effectively increases the longevity of foundations, tinted moisturizers, BB Creams and any of your finishing products. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil & Photo Finish Foundation Primer

I am currently smitten with two Smashbox Primers, and I often don't even bother with primers. One, Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil, is a delectable oil-based serum that looks and feels like a luxury face oil, and the other, Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, is a more traditional silicone-based primer. While I am impressed by both, it is really the former that has captured my attention because of my penchant for luxurious oils.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil ($42.00 for 1 oz. from Smashbox, Sephora, Sephora in JCP, Nordstrom, Ulta, Dillard's and Macy's): If you love facial oils, then this is a primer that you really must try, and it has quickly become my favorite primer for that very reason. It is silicone-free, and therefore uses its oils to prep the skin and serve as a base for makeup. It is, essentially, a lovely face oil that just so happens to function as a wonderful face primer. It is ultra-lightweight and fast-absorbing and it leaves skin soft, supple moisturized and luminous. It unquestionably nourishes and moisturizes the skin, and offers a luminous base to increase the longevity of foundations. It has a very light aroma from the natural oils, but there is neither an artificial, nor a cloying scent that lingers. This is a really great option for someone who wants to use a primer that is free of silicone.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer ($36.00 for 1 oz. from Smashbox, Sephora, Sephora in JCP, Nordstrom, Ulta, Dillard's and Macy's): If you are more of a primer traditionalist, and you desire that delectable velvety texture from silicone-based primers, then this primer gel is a really great choice. It is very lightweight, and oil-free, and it effortlessly glides across the skin leaving it so soft and smooth. It has no detectable scent, and it creates the perfect base for foundation. If, however, you either dislike, or are sensitive to, silicone-based primers– then this definitely is not the primer for you.

Directions: Smooth a layer over clean, moisturized skin. Let it set for 15 seconds. Wear alone or under makeup. Can also be used over makeup for touch-ups. Studio tip: Try it in your hair to tame frizzies.

Overall Assessment: I am impressed by both of these primers, but if I had to choose a favorite it would definitely be the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil.  Given my deep and abiding love of facial oils, this primer really resonates with me. I also can't use silicone-based primers for too many days in a row since my skin becomes reactive to silicones when I use them too often, but I love it nonetheless. If you are unsure about purchasing either, I would suggest asking for a sample from Sephora or Nordstrom to test them out before purchasing.

Bodyography Trifecta Perfecta for Summer

I was recently introduced to the makeup and skincare brand, Bodyography, and I thought that I would share my initial impressions about the products that I have tried from their range. Their cruelty-free products are quite pleasurable to use, they deliver on their promises, and they are affordable. Unsurprisingly, the three products that I received are perfect for the warm months of summer, and will definitely work well as the weather transitions into fall.

Bodyography Epic Lash Lengthening & Curling Mascara ($20.00 for 0.3 oz. from Bodyography): I don't tend to get very worked up about mascaras, and truth be told it is one makeup product that I often skip altogether. That said, I really like this one. It is jet-black, as Bodycology asserts, and it does a very respectable job lengthening and volumizing lashes. The unique shape of the wand is constructed to lift and curl, but it also enables one to easily separate lashes, to avoid clumping, and it lets you get into the lower lashes without any trouble!

Overall Assessment: I am quite impressed by these three gems from Bodyography, and am thoroughly obsessed with the Hydrating Mask. I am sufficiently impressed that I want to further investigate their skincare and makeup.

THE MAKEUP WARS TEAM PICKS THE BEST FACE PRIMER & FOUNDATION PAIRINGS

The Makeup Wars! Team is currently featuring our favorite face primers and foundation pairings, but I could only pick my favorite primer that I pair with all of my foundations and tinted moisturizers. It isn't that I don't love particular foundations– it's that I love so many of them, but their one unifying force is the primer that I pair with each of them– which is the HOURGLASS Veil Mineral Primer.

I am nothing short of obsessed with Jane Iredale, the exquisite quality of their cruelty-free products coupled with their healthy ingredients makes this a particularly wonderful brand to use. Their high-performance mineral makeup, which is filled with skincare ingredients, is modern, infinitely wearable, natural looking and very flattering. Here are some of my top picks for the fall.

Jane Iredale Naturally Glam Eye Shadow Kit ($59.00 for .34 oz. from Jane Iredale, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Skin Store, Citrine Natural Beauty Bar and StrawberryNet): I have to state for the record that the second that I touched this palette, I was shocked by the extent to which I reveled it its exceptional quality. Unlike many mineral eyeshadows, these ultra-finely milled gems are each so creamy and velvety to the touch that it's hard to believe that these silken beauties are actually powders. Their luxe textures coupled with their extraordinary pigmentation has made this beautiful palette one of my favorites to use. Boasting buildable coverage, these shadows glide across the skin effortlessly, deposit color evenly and are very long-lasting. I am able to get all day wear with a primer, but I do not have oily eyelids.

Jane Iredale PurePressed Blush in Clearly Pink ($30.00 for .13 oz. from Jane Iredale, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Skin Store,  Dermstore, Citrine Natural Beauty Bar, Amazon, Adore Beauty, Soft Surroundings and StrawberryNet): Clearly Pink, a newer shade, is an ultra-finely milled mineral powder blush that boasts a creamy powder texture that is velvety smooth to the touch. It deposits color evenly, glides across the skin effortlessly, and it neither settles into fine lines, nor does it emphasize pores. Clearly Pink is a light to mid-tone pink with subtle shimmer that creates an ethereal lit-from-within-glow with a natural flushed finish. It is positively gorgeous in every way.

Jane Iredale In Touch Cream Blush in Candid ($28.00 for .14 oz from Jane Iredale, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Skin Store, Citrine Natural Beauty Bar, Soft Surroundings and StrawberryNet): This unique cream to powder blush formula is hydrating, it boasts a creamy texture and it offers the skin a natural luminous finish that creates a flattering lit-from-within flush. Candid, which is a warm rosy neutral, is a very flattering and elegant shade.

Glide on this moist, cream to powder blush stick for a radiant flush that's soft, dewy and completely natural looking. Hydrating and easy to apply.

Jane Iredale In Touch Cream Blush in Candid

Jane Iredale PureMoist Lipstick in Susan, Lisa and Karen ($25.00 for .1 oz. from Jane Iredale,  Neiman Marcus, Skin Store, Citrine Natural Beauty Bar, Soft Surroundings, Beauty Expert, Adore Beauty and StrawberryNet): The formula is smooth, creamy and it glides across the lips effortlessly while depositing color evenly. I have two colors, Abigail and Cindy, and both have the perfect amount of cushion for comfortable wear. I get about 3-4 hours of wear before needing to apply, and while there is some transfer to the glass or mug when I drink, it is minimal. They have the emollience of a tinted lip balm, but the staying power of a lipstick. Furthermore, neither shade migrates, nor do they settle into lip lines. They have a wonderful fruity smell and light taste, but I find that it very quickly.

Shades Shown:

• Susan is described as a soft cool pink.
• Lisa is described as a creamy rose beige.
• Karen is described as a creamy matte fig red, but I find it to have less of a matte finish and more of a low-sheen finish instead.

Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer and Brightener ($48.00 for 1.7 oz. from Jane Iredale, Nordstrom, Skin Store, Neiman Marcus, Birchbox, Adore Beauty and Soft Surroundings): This is a wonderfully hydrating primer that blurs the appearance of fine lines and pores while giving the skin an ethereal glow. While it smooths and brightens the appearance of the skin, it significantly extends the wear-time of foundations, tinted moisturizers and any other finishing products. It has a lovely light citrus aroma that is uplifting and pleasant, but it is neither cloying, nor long-lasting.

This skin-quenching primer prepares the skin so makeup goes on easier and lasts longer. It also helps maintain skin's youthful appearance and minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines while bringing out your natural radiance.
