I have seldom used a face primer, and partly because I never really saw the need, but I must say that I really like the Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Face Primer quite a bit. I sometimes have trouble using with products containing silicones on my face, but I thought that I would try this anyway since I have always trusted Jane Iredale products. Coconut Alkanes are considered comedogenic (pore clogging) and therefore if you are prone to acne this is a likely a problematic ingredient for you. I am neither acne prone, nor did I find this primer to cause breakouts or clog my pores in the least, but I have normal/combination skin, and while it can be sensitive at times, I have no issues with this primer.
Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Face Primer has a velvety texture and it offers skin light moisture. It glides across effortlessly, it creates a perfect base for makeup and it blurs the appearance of fine lines and pores. Furthermore, it really enhances the longevity of finishing products, and it is so concentrated that you only need a tiny amount to cover the whole face. Over the holidays I received a gorgeous Jane Iredale HydroPure Hyaluronic Lip Gloss in a limited edition raspberry pink shade called Joy, and while it may be hard to locate that particular color it appears to be close to the color Candied Rose. I am so excited to share this lip gloss with you because it boasts a wonderful formula!
The Jane Iredale HydroPure Hyaluronic Lip Gloss formula is incredibly hydrating and plumping because of this Hyaluronic Acid, and this leaves lips incredibly soft and hydrated. Lactic Acid gently exfoliated dead skin cells, and that leaves lips very smooth. This gloss is non-sticky, comfortable on the lips and it offers a lovely tinted color, but is not opaque. It spreads across the lips effortlessly, deposits a veil of color effortlessly and it doesn't migrate or settle into lip lines. I have managed to collect a lot of brushes over the years, but more recently have migrated away from animal hair in favor of cruelty-free synthetic brushes. My recent brush obsession is the Jane Iredale Dome Brush, which comes in two versions: one with a rose gold ferrule and Naturon synthetic bristles (vegan) and the other with a graphite ferrule and goat hair bristles (not vegan). I have the rose gold ferrule with Naturon synthetic bristles, and think that tit is a really fantastic multipurpose brush.
It measures just shy of 6 3/4" from end to tip, and it is very nicely balanced. The handle is wood and the ferrule is metal, and neither are too heavy causing the brush to be cumbersome. The synthetic Naturon bristles are densely packed, and soft against the skin, but they are not so soft as to prove ineffective. Instead, they pick up and apply powder products with ease and blend them to perfection. The domed head is neither too pointy, nor too blunted– and the shape naturally lends itself to the application of blush and bronzer.

Jane Iredale PurePressed Eye Shadow Duo in Berries & Cream is a versatile eyeshadow duo that features two mineral shadows that can either be applied wet or dry. They can be worn together, separately, or blended to perfection. They are very finely-milled, and they glide across the skin effortlessly, deposit color evenly, and last on me all day with a primer. Furthermore, Jane Iredale formulates these lovely shadows with vitamins and botanical extracts to nourish the delicate skin around the eyes. The sleek and minimalist rose gold compact is a study in elegance, and it features a usable mirror for easy touch-ups. Berries & Cream consists of a deep, lightly shimmering, berry and and a pink-kissed beige with very light shimmer. The light color can be used as a base, placed in the corner of the eyes for brightening, or blended with the berry shade for a less intense lid shade. That these shadows can be used wet or dry means that their hues and saturation can be intensified when applied with a damp brush. The berry shade is perfect when smudged into the lash-line, but it is also a wonderful crease color. If you are more daring, it makes a statement as a lid color particularly if you want an intense smoky eye.

Plum and peachy-pink lipsticks are my favorite shades to wear during the colder months, and I thought that I would feature a high-end and an affordable version of two of my favorite plum lipsticks, and while I selected two that met that criteria I decided to throw in a sheer-leaning glossy peachy pink lipstick as well, since it can be such a nice topper for richer plum shades.

It is a moisturizing and glossy lipstick that is comfortable on the lips, and silky smooth in texture.

Overall Assessment: If you are looking for a luxury Plum lipstick, then Jane Iredale's Triple Luxe Long Lasting Naturally Moist Lipstick in Joanna is the way to go. If you are on a budget, then Nanacoco Magnumatte Lip Crayon in Roasted Chestnut is a great alternative. Pink Champagne is a stunning topper for Roasted Chestnut, but is a lovely peachy-pink on its own.

Ethique Bloom Hair Mask for Dry or Damaged Hair ($13.95 from their Amazon Store): Bloom is a hair mask anyone with very dry, damaged hair. It is ideal for hair weakened by overexposure to sun, swimming and color or heat styling treatments. It deeply nourishes and moisturizes the hair, and has the calming aroma of Ylang Ylang.
Directions: Drop one of the blocks into a cup, top with 1/2 mug boiling water and mix to smooth. Leave to cool for 10-15 mins until thick. Apply to dry hair and leave on for at least 20 minutes, then rinse.
The Mane Choice Split End Treatment Serum ($21.99 for 2 oz. from The Mane Choice, Sally Beauty, Amazon and Target): This hair serum is formulated to treat hair that is damaged from chemical/color treatments that is prone to breakage and that has split ends. While I do not have split ends, I do find that it leaves my hair nourished, frizz-free, hydrated and shiny. It also has a delectable fruity floral aroma.
