Finding affordable stocking stuffers and small gifts can be a considerable challenge, but a few really wonderful items came across my desk that I think are worthy of mention.

Ingredients such as Aloe vera and cotton seed extract were selected because they possess natural anti-inflammatory properties that help soothe and calm redness. Schisandra berry de-stresses skin and adds moisture for plump glowing skin. Since this is a 4-pack, it can easily be divided between gift recipients.

They work wonders overnight, and they couldn't be easier to use. Simply wash your face and then apply a single patch to each pimple and leave it on for 6-8 hours while you sleep, but they can also be used during the day. Such a brilliant solution to an unwelcome breakout.

PT Runs Free (Hardback $38.00 and paperback $27.50 from Amazon and Barnes & Noble): This wonderful story, written by Jason Kraus and illustrated by Connor Dehaan, is a perfect gift for children ages 2-12. Based upon a true story, this beautifully illustrated picture book, "shares the uplifting tale of PT the rescue dog. PT faces many challenges in life, but never gives up! With the powers of positivity and determination, he overcomes a neglectful family, life as a shelter dog and even the loss of his leg!"

The true story about this incredible three-legged rescue dog, who regains his ability to run, will educate and inspire children of all ages, and touch their hearts.

I can think of no better stocking stuffer than comfy no-show socks, and Sheec Socks (starting at $9.00 from Sheec Socks) has a wide selection for women, men and youth. Sheec is a wonderful sock company based out of NYC, and rather than a single style of socks to be used for all types of shoes, they brilliantly conceived of no-show socks for every possible type of shoe style. They make socks for sneakers, dress shoes (flats and heels), heels and slingback, for mules and clogs and for boots.

They use a variety of materials from Merino Wool, Fleece, Modal and Nylon & Cotton. Additionally, they have a Sheec Socks Quiz to help you select the best socks to suit your needs (HERE). Their socks are very high quality, and this startup brand is absolutely worthy of your attention.

K’Lani ($18.99-$19.99 from K'Lani and their Amazon Store): makes functional and stylish hair tie bracelets that offer the perfect solution for people who often wear pony tails! They come in sets of stylish and high quality hair tie bracelets that are so attractive that they look great on the wrist! K’lani’s founders love to give back to the community and have donated proceeds and products to local charities.

Overall Assessment: These gifts are high quality and they are great contenders for people on your gift-giving list.

February 2023 Product Empties for the Face, Body and Hair

While February was a short month, I still managed to finish up 7 face, body and hair products. I would most happily use all of them again, but I won't likely be repurchasing anything until I have finished more products from each of these products. I am swimming in open bottles, tubes and jars and don't want them to spoil before I use them up. Here is what I finished in February:

Patchology Serve Chilled Bubbly Eye Gels: An effervescent eye gel to help refresh your skin. The eye gels are formulated with resveratrol from grapes along with orange extract to help protect from environmental stressors that can lead to early signs of aging. Niacinamide helps brighten dull under-eye skin. Purchase Again? I still have a couple of packs left, but I would definitely buy these when I finish them. ($15.00-$35.00 from Patchology, Ulta, Nordstrom, bluemercury and Macy's)

LilyAna Naturals Rose & Pomegranate Face Cream: is moisturizer that is very nourishing, gentle and calming. It has a lightweight consistency, and it immediately melts into the skin without leaving behind a greasy residue. It is formulated for all skin types, and it offers superior and sustained moisture. It is so gentle and calming that it is a perfect choice to help heal dry, chapped and peeling skin, and that is certainly appreciated during the cold months of the year. Skin is left comfortable, soft and luminous. It is my go-to choice after I have done an at-home peel and after exfoliation. This face cream does not contain sunscreen, and therefore I use a high SPF sunscreen in addition to this moisturizer. I do not detect any aroma, and therefore it should not bother people who are sensitive to scented skincare products. Purchase Again? I really like this a lot, but I have too many open tubes, bottles and jars of face cream to use before I consider purchasing more. ($29.99 for 1.7 oz from LilyAna Naturals, their Amazon Store, CVS and Walmart)

Arcona Brightening Gommage: is a wonderful facial exfoliator that is good for all skin types. This is, without question, a very good exfoliators. The exfoliating beads are small and in abundant supply, and they effectively remove dead skin cells revealing radiant skin with pronounced clarity and improved tone. It smells and feels amazing, and it lasts a long time. Purchase Again? I have a new tube that I am about to open! ($56.00 for 3.4 oz. from Nordstrom)

NUXE Huile Prodigieux Shower Oil: The aroma, which might be described as a warm nutty floral, is utterly delectable, and its rich and crazy aroma fills the bathroom and delights the senses. NUXE Prodigieux Shower Oil is a lightly lathering and richly moisturizing cleanser that fills the senses with the most delectable rich and warm blend of sweet almond oil, orange blossom, magnolia and vanilla. It has a gorgeous quasi-iridescent glow from the golden pearls that impart a slight golden sheen to the skin. Skin is left hydrated, soft, supple and delicately fragranced. Purchase Again? Without question! ($15.00 for 6.7 oz. from Amazon, and Look Fantastic)

Spongellé Courageous Sugar Crush Body Wash Infused Buffer: makes brilliant body wash-infused sponges that effectively and gently clean and exfoliate the skin, and they leave the it deliciously baby soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. They really excel in their ability to clean and exfoliate the skin while delighting the senses with their delightful aromas. Sugar Crush is a delectable and vibrant scent with the following notes: Top: Pomegranate Seed, Custard Apple, Red Berries. Middle: Star Jasmine, Muguet, Cherry Blossom and Base: Sugar Musk, Golden Amber, Vanilla Cream. Purchase Again? I love this scent, but I have other scents that I will use next. ($14.00 from Spongellé)

Typology Hydrating Cleansing Bar with Palmarosa: is a handcrafted face and body bar that is non-stripping, nourishing and thoroughly hydrating. It achieves a very satisfying lather, and it leaves skin remarkably soft, smooth and hydrated. Therefore, it is never drying, and it will not leave skin in the least bit taut or uncomfortable. Furthermore, it has a wonderful light and refreshing Lemongrass aroma that is truly delightful. Purchase Again? YES! ($16.90 for 3.53 oz. from Typology)

Philip B. Oud Royal Forever Shine Conditioner: is the embodiment of a luxe conditioner. The ultra emollient formula, coupled with the delectable scent, makes using this conditioner a supremely enjoyable sensory experience. Like its matching shampoo, Philip B. Oud Royal Forever Shine Conditioner boasts the highly innovative and cutting-edge time-released botanical delivery system that imparts hair with unprecedented moisture and shine over a sustained period of time. While one only needs to leave it on for a minute, I prefer to leave it on for 10-20 minutes for deeper hydration. It infuses hair with lasting moisture, glossiness, bounce, and the delectable scent of pure Oud. Purchase Again? If it ever goes on sale, I will. December 2021 Empties to Close Out 2021!

This is my final empties post of 2021, and I am pretty pleased that I finished up as many of my open products as I did. I have made a concerted effort to live as sustainably as possible, and one of the things that I really try to do is avoid wasting things that I have. Admittedly, sometimes it is difficult to achieve this goal because testing so many products means that there are a lot of open jars, bottles and tubes at a given time, and therefore it is inevitable that some go bad before I get back to them. However, I do really try.

Derma E Vitamin C Daily Brightening Cleanser ($15.50 for 6 oz. from Derma E, Amazon, LovelySkin, CVS and iHerb): is a non-stripping lathering cleanser that brightens dull skin and leaves it glowing. Derma E's Vitamin C Collection features many of my favorite products from this wonderful cruelty-free brand, and if you have discoloration from sun damage these products will help to fade the hyperpigmentation. The citrus aroma makes using this cleanser a particularly refreshing and pleasant experience, and it is one of my most reached-for products in the shower. Purchase Again? I just opened a new bottle! This is my favorite cleanser form this wonderful brand!

La Maison du Chocolate Ultim8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil ($43.00 for 5.07 oz and $91.00 for 15.22 oz. from Shu Uemura USA and $49.00 for 5.07 oz. and $99.00 for 15.22 oz. from Shu Uemura Canada): This ultra-luxe rich and emollient cleansing oil has a luscious lightweight consistency that leaves skin soft, smooth, supple and luxuriously hydrated. While it can be used by all skin types, I suspect that it will be coveted by people with normal to dry skin. When water is introduced, this cleansing oil also transforms into a rich and creamy milky emulsion that gently removes every trace of dirt and makeup without ever stripping the skin, and it leaves skin velvety soft and smooth without leaving behind a greasy residue. It has a warm and creamy aroma that I find intoxicatingly delicious, but it doesn't smell like chocolate as the collection name might lead you to believe. Purchase Again? I have another bottle! 

MyChelle Refining Sugar Cleanser ($19.00 for 2.3 oz from MyChelle): is a thick, dense and ultra-creamy exfoliating cleanser that leaves skin ultra clean, soft, smooth and hydrated. It is gentle, forms a creamy and satisfying lather, punctuated by small exfoliating particles, and it never strips the skin. Since it is dense and very thick, it takes a little bit of pressure to squeeze it out of the tube, but it is very concentrated– therefore you need only a tiny amount to clean your face, neck and décolleté. It has the most delectable warm and creamy vanilla aroma that makes using this lovely cleanser specially satisfying. Additionally, the Hyaluronic Acid keeps skin hydrated and soft. MyChelle products are cruelty-free and this exfoliating cleanser is made without GMOs, Gluten, Parabens, Petroleum, Phthalates, Silicones, Sulfates, Ureas, artificial fragrances or artificial colors, and it’s vegan. Purchase Again? Yes, eventually. This is currently my favorite exfoliating cleanser!

Farmaesthetics Vassar Rose Perfecting Polish: This is a wonderful exfoliating powder that simply needs to be mixed with an equal part of your favorite cleanser in order to transform into a customizable exfoliating cleanser. It is a very gentle alternative to traditional microdermabrasion, and only requires the lightest touch to deliver optimal results. I have tried it with several different cleansers and in each case it has left my skin baby soft, silky smooth and perfectly cleansed without stripping or irritating my face. Purchase Again? I really liked this a lot, but it looks as though they no longer make this particular exfoliating cleanser.

Sol De Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel ($25.00 for 13 oz. from Sephora): is a rich and creamy lathering shower gel that gently cleans the skin without stripping it, and it smells utterly delicious. The creamy coconut aroma is punctuated by slight notes of jasmine, heliotrope and vanilla, but it is neither overpowering, nor too sweet, but instead warm and rich. The coconut oil leaves skin soft, smooth and hydrated, and it boasts suitable emollience for shaving. In fact, I prefer using this to shaving cream for my legs and under arms. Purchase Again? Without question, this smells and feels amazing!

Spongellé's new Spiritual Detox Collection ($28.00 each from Spongellé): body wash infused buffers with ashwagandha root extract, and each one includes its own chakra stone for meditation and cleansing. Helping to wash away negativity, each crystal creates a new found sense of energy– based upon the 7 chakras. This collection is such a meditative way to enhance your bath and shower experience, and they also make fantastic gifts! Blue is Neroli Nights (Throat Chakra). Purchase Again? I just opened another treasure from them!

Baylis & Harding Sea Kelp & Peppermint Natural Hand Wash ($5.99 each for 16.9 oz. from Target): is an altogether uplifting and refreshing blend of peppermint that is softened by sea kelp. This is an affordable and sustainable luxury hand wash that is a joy to use and it smells utterly delectable. Furthermore, it leaves your hands soft and moisturized, rather than dry and stripped. Purchase Again? I already opened another bottle in a different scent!

You only have to wear them for about 10 minutes, and la voilà– soft and moisturized feet and hands. Purchase Again? I definitely will once I have used a few more of my footcare products.

Rahua Color Full Shampoo ($38.00 for 9.3 oz. from Rahua, Cult Beauty, Free People and The Detox Market): Anyone who color-treats their hair knows how damaging it is, and how important it is to find products that not only mitigate the effects of the chemical treatments, but that also nourish and hydrate– while extending the life of the hair color. This remarkable shampoo thoroughly cleans the hair without drying or stripping it, and in fact it nourishes and hydrates both the hair and scalp. It effectively extends the life of color-treatment, and it has the most luscious fruity herbal aroma that is incredibly pleasant, soothing and delectable. Purchase Again? YES!

Rahua Color Full Conditioner ($40.00 for 9.3 oz. from Rahua, Cult Beauty, Follain and The Detox Market): This is a spectacular conditioner for dry color treated hair, and in fact it boasts levels of hydration suitable for dry and curly hair (like mine). This conditioner extends and preserves hair color, it deeply hydrates the hair and scalp, and it fights frizz and leaves hair manageable. Furthermore, it leaves hair very soft with a gorgeous glossy shine. Purchase Again? Yes, this is a delightful conditioner!

Overall Assessment: I wonder if I will use up this many full size products next month? I feel as though I won't, but we will have to see. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in December? Any duds or winners to share?

November came and went so fast this year, and yet I managed to finish up a decent pile of products. Here is what I finished:

African Botanics Buchu Botanical Enzyme Polish ($75.00 for 3.38 oz./100 ml. from African Botanics, Credo Beauty and Cult Beauty £66.00): Buchu Botanical Enzyme Polish is a very deep-cleansing facial exfoliator that effectively and efficiently sweeps away impurities and cleans out clogged pores. It is formulated with a combination of Marula Oil, Baobab Oils and Buchu Plant extracts that are punctuated by Micro-Algae and ultra-fine granules of ancient volcanic minerals. The fine granules, which densely populate this exfoliator, efficiently and effectively unclog pores, and remove dead skin cells, excess oils and impurities. Papaya and Pineapple enzymes help to dissolve dead skin cells, aid in cleaning out the pores, and make them appear reduced in size. Skin is left brightened, deeply cleansed and utterly glowing. In fact, the first time that I used it I noticed that it left my skin feeling as soft and silky smooth as ultra-fine velvet. Only the smallest amount is needed to achieve the desired results for the face, neck and décolleté, and the exfoliating particles are so efficient that you do not need to apply any pressure as you massage it into the skin. Bodyography AM/PM Moisturizer ($40.00 for 1.7 oz. from Bodyography): This delectable lightweight and fast absorbing moisturizer, which is formulated for day and night use, melts into the skin leaving it deeply moisturized, soft, smooth and supple. It lightly plumps fine lines, brightens dull skin and it has a delightful light fruity aroma. It can be used alone, or if you want extra hydration, it pairs perfectly with Bodyography Coconut Milk Serum. This moisturizer does not contain an SPF, therefore you will need to use a sunscreen as well. Purchase Again? Perhaps one day, but I have lots of open jars of cream to use up before I buy another!

Colbert MD Intensify Facial Disks ($70.00 for 20 discs from Dermstore, Olivela and the official Colbert MD Amazon Store): I have regularly used various types of facial exfoliating pads for many years, and have to confess that my experience with Colbert MD Intensify Facial Disks was a real game changer for me all of those years ago. While most of the solution soaked exfoliating pads that I have used are thin and double sided, Colbert MD has reimagined its form and instead has opted for a very plush and thick single sided pad. The generously saturated pre-moistened disks include a small tab on the back that makes holding the disk easy, and allows one to maintain effortless control.

The combination of the mild microdermabrasion action from the surface of the pad coupled with the enzyme action of the solution immediately and effectively encourages cell turnover that aids in the promotion of collagen production. Skin, unobstructed by a proliferation of dead skin cells, is then able to effortlessly and effectively absorb skincare products. The end result is unbelievably soft, smooth, supple and luminous skin. Purchase Again? YES! I am working on a brand new box already!

Patchology Flashpatch Rejuvenating Eye Gels ($15.00 for 5 pack fromNordstrom, Space NK, Bloomingdale's, Ulta, Dermstore, Revolve, Skinstore and Bluemercury): These eye gels are biodegradable, cruelty-free and vegan, and they effectively cool and de-puff the delicate area below the eyes. They effectively moisturize, soothe and refresh, and each time I use them I notice that my dark circles are diminished, my fine lines are softened, and that my skin boasts a dewy luminosity. Purchase Again? Once I run out of my other eye gels, I will definitely consider purchasing these.

MALIN+GOETZ Lime Bar Soap ($16.00 for 5 oz. from MALIN+GOETZ and Bloomingdale's): While I have a generous size drawer filled with soaps and body washes, the intoxicatingly delicious, and refreshing aroma of this bar soap is just too good not to use regularly. In addition to its incredibly uplifting and exhilarating scent, this bar boasts a creamy dreamy lather that is non-stripping and residue-free. Additionally, it moisturizes the skin and leaves it silky soft and smooth. I love to build a creamy lather and use it to shave my legs and underarms, and can say without hesitation that I will be purchasing a replacement bar as soon as I finish this one. Purchase Again? SENTEURS D’ORIENT Hammam Soap in Jasmine of Arabia ($36.00 for 7.2 oz/205 g. from SENTEURS D'ORIENT and Net-A-Porter): This is the most beautiful soap imaginable. From the gorgeous design of the soap itself to the otherworldly aroma of the creamy, delectable Jasmine used to make this ultra-luxe bar– this is the perfect Jasmine soap in which to luxuriate. The rich and creamy lather gently cleanses the skin without stripping it, while the beautiful aroma delights the senses. This gorgeous soap is suspended on a rope– which allows it to effectively dry out between uses. This is the perfect hostess gift, holiday gift or gift for yourself, and I assure you that the recipient will be thrilled by this gorgeous gem of a soap.  Purchase Again? Absolutely! 

SALT By Hendrix Coco-Salt Body Buff ($25.00 for 7.05 oz. from SALT By Hendrix): is a delectable ultra-luxe natural exfoliant, from Australia, that is vegan, cruelty-free and such a treat to use. It effectively exfoliates dead skin cells leaving the skin silky smooth, incredibly soft and supple. It has a very light milky lavender aroma that is calming, and not in the least bit pungent. Furthermore, it rinses clean and doesn't leave the skin, or the bottom of the shower, covered in an oily residue. Purchase Again? I definitely will buy another one of their body scrubs when I need to replace what I have.

L'Occitane Lavender Hand Cream ($22.00 for 2.6 oz.from L'Occitane, Sephora and Nordstrom): This light-medium weight hand cream is utterly luxurious in its smooth and creamy texture, and its delightful lavender scent. The formula is fast absorbing and fast-acting– it immediately renders hands soft, supple and ultra-hydrated. The lavender aroma is neither cloying, nor in the least bit pungent. Instead, it leaves a thin veil of scent close to the skin, and it fades away altogether after a couple of hours. I have a tube this in my work bag, and in my purse, and I delight in using it every single day! Purchase Again? I definitely will!

Trader Joe's Lemon Kitchen Hand Soap (I think that it is $3.99 for 17 oz. from Trader Joe's): If you love the refreshing scent of lemons, then this affordable hand soap from Trader Joe's is a must-have. Not only does it smell delicious, but it thoroughly cleans without stripping the skin. While called a kitchen soap, it can be used in the bathroom as well. Purchase again? I already purchased several more, and will continue to as long as they make this wonderful soap!

LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant ($14.00 for 1.7 oz. from LAVANILA, Ulta, and Thrive Market): Though I have occasionally used mainstream deodorants, I do prefer to avoid the chemicals. LAVANILA makes wonderful healthy deodorants that are effective and smell wonderful (though they also make an unscented variant for sensitive skin). Vanilla + Earth for Balance: "A warm and woody combination of patchouli and sandalwood that enhances focus and concentration." While its description might summon thoughts of a heavy woody scent punctuated by a pungent patchouli, this is a light, sweet and creamy woodsy scent infused with warm florals, and without any detectable notes from the patchouli. It has a depth and yet it isn't in the least bit overpowering. Purchase Again? As long as they make them, I will buy them!

African Botanics Revitalizing Therapy Gel ($65.00 for 2 oz./60ml from African Botanics, Credo Beauty and Net-A-Porter): This is my go-to product whenever I need relief from muscular soreness. lower back pain, and when I desire an overall sense of wellbeing after heavy physical exertion. This miracle gel outranks every ointment that I have ever used post-workout, or for any other aches and pains, and it does so without any silicones, mineral oils, parabens, allergens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, PEGs or SLSs. Loaded with the highest quality organic ingredients, that are responsibly sourced, this revitalizing gel cools the skin, helps to promote circulation, has potent anti-inflammatory ingredients that reduce swelling, and it hydrates and conditions the skin. The lightweight gel sinks into the skin effortlessly and leaves the skin soft and supple. The ultra emollient formula, coupled with the delectable scent, makes using this conditioner a supremely enjoyable sensory experience. Like its matching shampoo, Philip B. Oud Royal Forever Shine Conditioner boasts the highly innovative and cutting-edge time-released botanical delivery system that imparts hair with unprecedented moisture and shine over a sustained period of time. While one only needs to leave it on for a minute, I prefer to leave it on for 10-20 minutes for deeper hydration. It infuses hair with lasting moisture, glossiness, bounce, and the delectable scent of pure Oud. Purchase Again? At some point, when I can justify this type of splurge!

KMS MOISTREPAIR Conditioner ($23.50 for 8.5 oz.) from KMS Salons nationwide, Look Fantastic, Beauty Expert, Mankind, Beauty Expert and HQ Hair): is a lightweight moisturizing conditioner that immediately softens, conditions, detangles, fights frizz, improves elasticity, and greatly enhances manageability. Furthermore, it leaves behind no greasy residue and does not weigh hair down. Purchase Again? I will consider it the next time I need to buy more conditioner (which will be quite a while!)

Alora Ambiance Rosa Reed Diffuser ($60.00 for 8 oz. Reed Diffuser and $90.00 for 16 oz. from the official Beautyhabit Amazon Store): Described as. "A classic floral in every sense of the word, Rosa’s blend of rose essence with a hint of musk makes this romantic fragrance a valuable addition to any room." If you love the scent of a complex rose, then this reed diffuser is made with you in mind. The aroma fills the room with its essence without ever imposing itself of people with sensitive noses! Purchase Again? Absolutely!

Alora Ambiance Isola Reed Diffuser ($60.00 for 8 oz. Reed Diffuser and $90.00 for 16 oz. from the official Beautyhabit Amazon Store): This is Alora's most popular fragrance for good reason, is a delectable floral mix of gardenia, tuberose and fig. It is a light and airy fragrance without being too sweet, and it isn't in the least bit pungent. The fragrance might be likened to the experience of walking through a fragrant garden during a warm summer breeze– it is at once ethereal and deeply pleasurable. Purchase Again? No question!

Overall Assessment: I somehow thought that I would use up a few more products in November, but I didn't get through a lot of my half empty products. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in November? Any great, or awful, products to report?
