My first encounter with TATCHA's Luminous Deep Hydrating Lifting Mask was during my extraordinary TATCHA facial at Barneys New York with legendary esthetician Kyoko Getz, and ever since I have coveted this amazing treatment. Dubbed the Red Carpet Mask for good reason, this miraculous product offers dramatic and instantaneous results that leave skin plumped, hydrated, luminous, and utterly gorgeous. Skin is left so transformed and luminous that you are not only Red Carpet ready, but people will also wonder what in-office procedure or peel was done in order to render such obvious results! This is a perfect gift for Mother's Day!

According to TATCHA,

This mask combines a proprietary red algae blend with our HADASEI-3™ Bioactive Complex. The silken serum infuses skin with powerful moisture-enriching actives resulting in smoother, more luminous skin in minutes.

The unique coconut-derived biocellulose mask, developed originally to speed healing for burn victims, forms an occlusive layer on the skin that enables 53% deeper penetration vs. paper masks. Ideal for dry and combination skin.

How to use:

Begin with clean, dry skin. Unfold mask and pull tab to peel away one layer of mesh backing.  Place mask gel-side down on face and adjust to fit comfortably around eyes, nose, and mouth. Peel away remaining backing so that only the gel layer is left, and smooth mask to skin.  Leave on for 15 minutes and enjoy the cooling and gentle tingling sensation of the mask at work. Peel mask off, massage remaining serum into the skin and follow immediately with TATCHA Moisture Rich Silk Cream to seal in the long-lasting moisture. Skin will feel lifted and cool from the intense hydration.

My experience: I dutifully followed the instructions provided by TATCHA and left the mask on for the recommended 15 minutes, and I fully expected that it was going to do extraordinary things to my skin since it had once before. However, when Kyoko used TATCHA's Luminous Deep Hydrating Lifting Mask on me it was done in conjunction with a full hour long facial (which included an exquisite massage). I, therefore, tempered my expectations of this mask when done at home without Kyoko's magical touch. While there is nothing that I could ever even aspire to do at home that would even mildly approximate the experience that I had at the hands of Kyoko, I have to say that giving myself the TATCHA Luminous Deep Hydrating Lifting Mask was nothing short of amazing.

Toward the end of the 15 minutes I massaged the remaining serum into my skin while the mask was still on. I then wrung out the last bits of serum from the mask, discarded the mask itself, and then massaged it into my neck and décolletage. Not only was my skin indescribably luminous, but it was likewise more even-toned, and all of my fine lines were literally eliminated. It plumped up my skin and left it so soft and supple that I could have easily been carded at the grocery store! I kid you not, the effects are that noticeable-- I know that there is no such thing as a real fountain of youth, but TATCHA has gotten about as close to it as one could ever hope to get! Use this mask before any special event, or whenever you want to see your skin at its very best. I am truly astounded by the results. That said, this product is not recommended for anyone who is either sensitive or allergic to coconut. I have one packet left, and am coveting it for my next special event, but I will definitely be buying a 4 pack soon!

TATCHA Facial by Celebrated Esthetician Kyoko Getz at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills

Following The Beauty Event at Barneys New York at The Grove, which featured TATCHA & Surratt, I was graciously invited to the Beverly Hills location by Tata and Kyoko in order to experience a full hour long TATCHA facial. When I arrived, I was greeted by these two beauties and then brought to the lovely facial room. I was treated as a royal guest before, during and following what was most assuredly a remarkable hour of extraordinary pampering.

The room itself is tranquil and boasts an elegant minimalist aesthetic, and one is immediately calmed by the surroundings.

 After I changed into the sleeveless spa-robe, the facial began.

Receiving a facial from Kyoko, a celebrated veteran and highly coveted industry-known esthetician, is one of those amazing experiences that simply does not occur very often. This was such an amazing treat that I am at a loss for words in my attempt to express my true excitement!

The first thing that Kyoko did was cleanse my face, neck and décolleté with the PURE One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil (reviewed here). I immediately relaxed and began to sink into the surface as I was lulled into a state of blissful relaxation from the timber of Kyoko's voice and from the magical ability of her hands.

A beautiful blend of camellia and rice bran oils. Melts away even waterproof makeup leaving skin fresh and pure. Does not contain mineral oil. No double cleansing required.

Kyoko then selected the Gentle POLISHED Rice Enzyme Powder in order to deeply cleanse my skin and prepare it for the following treatment products. While I own and use the Classic POLISHED Rice Enzyme Powder (reviewed here. There are three formulas available: Gentle, Classic and Deep), Kyoko selected Gentle POLISHED Rice Enzyme Powder based upon the needs of my skin for my facial. She carefully assesses the needs of her client's skin at the time of the facial, and then chooses the products used accordingly. Kyoko applied it to my face, neck and décolleté and then covered my skin with a warm and comforting towel. After a few minutes, Kyoko removed the rice enzyme powder with a warm towel.

A water-activated enzyme powder of rice bran, papaya + HADASEI-3 Bioactive Complex. Reveals skin's natural gleam. Exfoliates without harsh abrasives for effortless baby-soft skin.

Kyoko then applied the legendary LUMINOUS Deep Hydration Lifting Mask and left it on my skin for about 15 minutes. TATCHA calls it their Red Carpet mask because it makes the skin look so amazing that it is a Red Carpet favorite by those in the know. It leaves skin luminous, healthy, and it plumps fine lines.

While the mask worked its magic on me, Kyoko gave me an extraordinary hand and arm massage with the GOLD Camellia Beauty Oil. Using Akari Crystal Massager, Kyoko gave me an acupressure massage which promoted lymphatic drainage while the mask was still on my face. The expected result is a pronounced lifting and a deeply refreshed appearance, and it truly delivers on this promise. When Kyoko removed the mask my skin felt
unlike anything else that I have experienced-- it was softer, smoother and more refined than I have ever experienced, and the facial wasn't finished! Any built-up fluids were immediately drained revealing a more sculpted face!

Kyoko then massaged the RADIANT Deep Brightening Serum into my skin until it was absorbed.

My skin had an unbelievable healthy glow, and this cream made my skin look and feel gorgeous and silky smooth!

Kyoko then dabbed the GOLD Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm on my lips, and her touch is so skillful that even my lips felt different than before! I purchased this the other day, and my review is forthcoming. I will say, that this gold-leaf embellished lip balm is the most luxurious work of art ever to have graced my lips! This is already among my holy grail lip products!

As a final step, Kyoko sprayed my face, neck and décolleté with LUMINOUS Dewy Skin Mist, and this refreshing humectant-filled silky moisturizer felt delightful as its dewy goodness greeted my skin.

A silky liquid moisturizer of Squalane, Red Algae and our HADASEI-3 complex can be misted for a boost of soothing hydration, resulting in dewy, luminous skin anytime, anywhere. This milky emulsion contains moisturizers and humectants leaving skin rehydrated. Kyoko and I spoke at great length while I was still luxuriating and relaxing on the table, and when I finally stood up I had a pronounced sense of well being. My entire body was transported to a place of inner calm which left me feeling as amazingly uplifted as my skin was radiant and renewed. This experience was utterly transformational, because Kyoko imbues her facials with her adept skills and lots of love for what she does. Trust me when I tell you that her facials are as good as it gets! Overall assessment: An utterly amazing experience! Truly amazing products coupled with an extraordinary facial made for an unforgettable experience! My skin looked and felt extraordinary following my facial, but it was the following day that I noted the greatest difference. My skin looks better than it ever has following this amazing treatment! Barneys New York The Beauty Event at The Grove Featuring Troy Surratt & TATCHA!

The Beauty Event at Barneys New York at The Grove in Los Angeles was amazing fun. I strongly urge those of you who live anywhere near Barneys to attend at least one of these fabulous events-- there are so many wonderful people to meet, and so many noteworthy products in which to indulge! This particular event featured two amazing lines: Surratt and Tatcha. 

Attendees were treated to a Tatcha facial by renown esthetician Kyoko Getz, and Surratt Beauty makeovers by celebrated celebrity makeup artists Satya Linak, Maia Wagle & Sonia Marina. Furthermore, Troy Surratt, in all of his infinite charm, greeted guests and introduced them to his extraordinary makeup line (a Barneys New York exclusive).
