April 2021 Empties Galore

Purchased and Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

If working from home during the pandemic has taught me one thing about my product use, it is that I prefer to use the things that I really love, and that I use them with abandon. It is an indulgence that helps mitigate all of the stress associated with this difficult time. I have also been making a greater effort to use up the things I really love before they go bad. Here is what I used up in April:

African Botanics Pure Marula Cleansing Oil ($60.00 for 3.4 oz. from African BotanicsNet-A-PorterRevolve and Credo Beauty): This lightweight oil is an antioxidant and omega-rich oil that was formulated to gently cleanse and purify even the most sensitive skin types while removing makeup, dead skin cells as well as pollution and other impurities. It is so gentle and effective that it neither dehydrates the skin, nor causes irritation. It is suitable for combination, sensitive and dry skin types. Repurchase? I already opened a deluxe travel size!

Suki Sensitive Cleansing Bar ($10.00 for 4 oz. from the Official Suki Amazon Store and Suki. Set for $37.00 from the Official Suki Amazon Store): This is a fantastic cleansing bar that is formulated for use on the face or the body, and it is vegan and filled with healthy high quality ingredients. Sensitive Cleansing Bar is an extraordinarily gentle French-milled soap that is both moisturizing and pleasant to use. It forms a rich and creamy-dreamy lather, it never strips the skin and it has luscious lemongrass aroma that is positively intoxicating.

You can apply it directly to the skin, or you can use a loofah, wash cloth or sponge to the body. For the face it can be used directly on the skin, or with your favorite cleansing device. It leaves skin clean, silky smooth and moisturized. I also found that it does an amazing job as a shaving cream for my underarms and legs, and the creamy and emollient lather feels amazing against the skin. Purchase Again? Absolutely!
Malin+Goetz Peppermint Body Scrub ($35.00 for 7.5 oz. from Malin+GoetzSpace NK, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's): This is one of my all-time favorite body scrubs for so many reasons! Among them is the fact that it boasts a foaming gel formula that is gentle and non-stripping, and yet it effectively removes dead skin cells, and reveals silky soft and ultra smooth skin. It also has no greasy residue that requires additional washing, and the peppermint aroma is seriously exhilarating without being overdone. This is a truly amazing body scrub, and I highly recommend it! Purchase Again? Definitely the next time I need another body scrub!

Kate Somerville Exfolikate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment ($85.00-$175.00 from NordstromSephora and Neiman Marcus): Kate Somerville's Exfolikate is a seriously powerful exfoliating treatment, it is so effective (and potent) that you only need to leave it on your face for 30 seconds and voilà your skin is smooth and bright, and your pores are deeply cleaned. It is like getting a super effective 30 second facial. I like to apply mine in the shower about 2 times a week to keep my skin in tip top shape. If you have very sensitive skin then this is likely to be too strong, if not irritating, for you. For those with sensitive skin try Exfolikate Gentle instead- you will find it far more gentle. I have tried both and prefer the strength of Exfolikate. This definitely tingles and you may find that your face becomes a bit red after use, but that usually subsides after a few minutes. However, if you find it unpleasant or uncomfortable that is a good indication that the formula is too active for your skin. Purchase Again? I will definitely make the splurge before too long!
LANCÔME Paris Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover ($15.00 for 1.7oz, $30.00 for 4.2 oz. and $40.00 for 6.7 oz. from LANCÔMENordstromSephoraUltaBloomingdale's and Macy's): This is an ultra-gentle and emollient bi-phase makeup remover that is formulated with the perfect balance between the water and the oils used. It effectively removes every single trace of makeup without tugging– including waterproof varieties– and it doesn't need to be rinsed off. It nourishes the delicate skin around the eyes as well as the lashes, and it is suitable for people with sensitive eyes and skin. It has no detectable aroma, and it can also be used to remove even the most tenacious matte lipsticks, and it does so with ease. This has been my favorites eye makeup remover for years, and I have yet to find one that comes close, by comparison. Purchase Again? I just opened a full-size bottle. I love this so much!

Erno Laszlo Multi-Task Eye Serum Mask ($38.00 for 6 masks from Erno LaszloNordstromSkinStoreLOOKFANTASTICViolet Grey and Saks Fifth Avenue): I received mine as a gift with purchase, and I am so glad that I did because I wouldn't have likely tried them otherwise. Described as a multitasking eye mask infused in a serum of Vitamin B3, Algae Extract and Amino Acids, this mask promises to soften the appearance of dark circles, reduce under eye puffiness and soften the appearance of fine lines. In addition to those wonderful attributes, I also found that this eye mask refreshed my skin and left it soft, smooth, hydrated and radiant. I am very pleased with the results, and am thrilled that this wonderful gel mask made its way into my over-Zoomed life! Purchase Again? Oh yes, these are incredible!
VENeffect Anti-Aging Lip Treatment ($85.00 for 0.34 oz./10ml. from VENeffect and Space NK): When your lip balm obsession has reached a fever pitch, and you seek a powerhouse antioxidant rich anti-aging lip product that is less a balm and more of a cream-based treatment, then it is time to enter the fold of VENeffect Anti-Aging Lip Treatment. The consistency of this elegant treatment feels more like a lightweight eye cream than a balm, but it works faster and more effectively than a balm. It sinks into the lips and the surrounding skin quickly leaving behind a thin veil of moisture. It imparts immediate hydration while it gently plumps and smooths the skin. Additionally, if you have vertical lines around your lips, into which lipsticks bleed, it is worthy to note that VENeffect Anti-Aging Lip Treatment  is formulated to soften, reduce and plump them. Furthermore, this potent little pot serves as a wonderful lipstick base that enhances the longevity of of wear-time and prevents lipstick from bleeding. Purchase Again? This is my second little pot, and there is another one in my future at some point.

LEPAAR Velvet Sole Lip Balm ($15.00 for 0.17 oz. from Boxwalla and Credo Beauty): This lightweight, highly emollient, nourishing and hydrating lip and face balm is perfectly suited to the cold weather, and it is an absolute chapped lip savior. You really only need a tiny bit of this concentrated balm for great results. It boasts exfoliating properties because it is infused with ground pink Himalayan salt and papaya seed oil, but it isn't in the least bit gritty, drying or irritating. Calendula extract and olive oil help heal dry chapped skin– leaving them soft, supple and moisturized. This also makes a wonderful lipstick base– particularly when used in conjunction with drying matte formulas, but it must be used very sparingly so as not to change the finish of the lip product. Purchase Again? Yes!

Godai Soaps $8.95 for Single Godai Soaps (4 oz.): I am a huge fan of Godai Soaps, and will definitely purchase more once I use up some of my bar soaps.

GODAI SOAP FIRE 火 (REJUVENATING BAR SOAP): "Fire is known as the transformative element, and Godai’s 火 Fire Bar Soap & Shampoo provide rejuvenation with a mixture of rosemary oil, lemon oil, and avocado oil to energize tired and dull skin for more brightness and vitality." This soap has such a magical aroma the rosemary adds some depth while the lemon and a bright and cheerful zest, and it is at once uplifting and fresh. Ingredients: click here. Purchase Again? Yes!

GODAI SOAP EARTH 地 (CLEANSING BAR SOAP. UNSCENTED): "Earth acts as the base element upon which all rests, and Godai’s 地 Earth Bar Soap & Shampoo represent this element by combining ingredients such as French clay and organic sugar, gently yet deeply cleansing to provide a foundation for healthy, glowing skin." If aromatic infusions aren't for you, then this unscented soap will appeal to you. Ingredients: click herePurchase Again? Definitely!

GODAI SOAP WIND 風 (NOURISHING BAR SOAP): "Wind represents the breath of life, and Godai’s 風 Wind Bar Soap & Shampoo emulates this element by using a combination of nourishing and brightening ingredients such as rice bran oil, turmeric, and barley grass powder by removing impurities from your skin and hair while moisturizing." This nourishing bar has a delectable lightly spicy green aroma– the turmeric spices up the barley grass, which in turn tempers the spice with its fresh green sensibility. Ingredients: click herePurchase Again? I most certainly will.
Nubian Heritage Olive Oil & Green Tea Body Wash: This all-purpose cleanser is non-stripping, gentle and hydrating, and is suitable for all types of skin. It forms a creamy rich lather that releases the delightful scent of olive oil and green tea, and together they provide a wonderfully refreshing shower or bath experience. Purchase Again? I would, but I think that this product has been discontinued!

REN Moroccan Rose Otto Bath Oil ($48.00 for 4.08 oz. from RENSephora and Net-A-Porter): This beautifully fragranced bath oil hydrates and nourishes the skin while enveloping and enrapturing the senses. It leaves the skin soft, supple, luminous and exceedingly hydrated. This is one of the very best bath oils that I have ever used, and it offers the perfect way to unwind after a stressful day. Purchase Again? Another bottle is definitely in my future at some point.

Kneipp Almond Blossom Body Wash ($14.00 for 6.76 oz. from KneippKneipp's Official Amazon Store): As I was digging around in my cabinet I discovered that I had to open tubes of this miraculous body wash that somehow got forgotten. Between the two tubes I had enough left for almost two weeks worth of joyous showers! Almond Blossom is one of my favorite Kneipp fragrances, and I covet anything from their range of products that features this delectable fragrance. It is a subtle and warm floral that is a treat to the senses. Furthermore, this hydrating body wash thoroughly cleans the skin without stripping or drying it. The creamy, emollient lather is perfect for shaving your legs as well. Purchase Again? YES!

By Terry Baume de Rose Hand Cream ($50.00 for 75 grams or 2.62 oz. from By TerrySpace NKDermstoreBluemercuryAmazonSaks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale's): If you love high quality delectable rose scented body products, then be prepared to fall madly in love! This is an ultra-luxe, very moisturizing hand cream with the most refined and elegant rose aroma. It has done wonders for my over-washed and over-sanitized hands and cuticles, and it leaves my skin soft, smooth, supple and a little bit luminous. While it is thick and emollient, it is fast absorbing and leaves behind no greasy residue, whatsoever. However, the delectable veil of fragrance is so hypnotic and delightful that I simply can't stop using this treasure! Purchase Again? I love this hand cream madly, but I will have to wait to splurge. I have several tubes of hand cream to use first.
Shu Uemura Blow Dry Beautifier Thermo BB Serum ($39.00 for 5 oz. from Shu Uemura The Art of Hair): This BB Serum is formulated to moisturize the hair without leaving it feeling heavy or weighed down, while smoothing and softening the hair to make it more manageable. It also protects the hair from blow drying and works wonders on fine to medium coarse hair. Purchase Again? If I do not have another bottle, I will definitely buy another.
COCOFLOSS ($9.00 each. Available at SephoraCredo Beauty and goop): Cocofloss is a very effective dental floss that deeply cleans teeth and is gentle and soothing on the gums. It actually makes flossing something that I look forward to, and it is available in 4 coconut infused flavors: Delicious Mint, Pure Strawberries, Fresh Coconut and Cara Cara Orange. Purchase Again? I just opened another one, and I will definitely purchase more after I finish what I have.

Overall Assessment: As you can clearly see, I am definitely making a concerted effort to use up lots of mostly used products before they go bad. It not only makes me feel good not being wasteful, but it perfectly aligns with my interest in living more sustainably. What have you used up, tossed out, given away or returned in April. Any great finds, or total misses to report?

Empties Post Volume XLV: June 2016

Press Sample, Purchased, Samples & GWP (Affiliate Links)

I am not entirely sure why June was such a slow month with respect to Empties, but for some reason I
really did not finish many products compared to previous months. I did, however, manage to finish up several full size products. Here is what I used up:

Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask ($5.99-$9.99 for 6 oz. from NeutrogenaDrugstore.comAmazonWalgreens and Target. Reviewed here): This mask offers dry or over-processed hair intense moisture without leaving it heavy or limp. Whether you have naturally curly hair, colored hair, or hair that you subject to flat irons, blow dryers or curling irons, then this is a great rescue mask to help those traumatized tresses recover.

Neutrogena recommends that  you use it weekly, or as often as needed, and you only need to leave it in for about 5 minutes. I will say, however, that I have left it in for up to an hour, and it leaves my hair silky soft, frizz-free, shiny and remarkably moisturized. It has a light, yet pleasant, scent that seems to fade very quickly. I am picking up another jar on my next trip to the drugstore!

PediSpa Intensive Moisturizing Foot Mask ($9.99 for two pairs from Target. Reviewed here): is an ultra-hydrating foot mask that noticeably softens and moisturizes parched feet, and aids in the repair of cracked and calloused skin. Used in conjunction with the PediSpa Exfoliating Foot Mask, this mighty duo makes feet pedicure and sandal-ready in no-time.

PediSpa Exfoliating Foot Mask ($9.99 for 1 pair from Target. Reviewed here): is a gentle foot exfoliant in the form of two treatment-filled booties that are worn like socks for the duration of the treatment cycle. This foot mask eliminates calluses and visibly removes dead skin cells within two weeks of use.

Within a few days of use, skin begins to peel away revealing soft and supple skin. This is a more gentle formula than some exfoliating foot masks, but you can amplify the results by soaking your clean feet in warm water for a few minutes to soften up the skin before applying the foot mask to your feet. Furthermore, using the PediSpa Intensive Moisturizing Foot Mask less than a week after the PediSpa Exfoliating Foot Mask helps to accelerate the peel by delivering serious hydration to your feet.

L'Occitane Peony Shower Gel ($20.00 for 8.4 oz. from L'OCCITANEReviewed here): The scent of the fresh Peonies is neither too sweet, nor is it overpowering, instead it is light, pleasant and refreshing. The Peony Shower Gel is delectably scented and uplifting lathering gel that delights the senses. The formula moisturizes the skin, while gently cleansing, and it leaves it soft and supple. The scent sits close to the skin, but fills that bathroom with an enchanting light floral scent.

TOM FORD Private Blend Café Rose Eau de Parfum ($220.00 for 1.7 oz., $300 for 3.4 oz. and $535.00 for 8.4 oz. from Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Sephora, Bergdorf Goodman, and Neiman Marcus): I loved this scent so much that I purchased a 3.4 oz. bottle that makes me deliriously happy. It is a warm and exotic rose that is so fetching that I basque in it every chance that I get!

TOM FORD asserts,

Convention is abandoned and unexpected ingredients converge with bewitching and intoxicating results. Iconic seasonal flowers open, dropping innocent façades to reveal the subversive beauty and fierce elegance normally kept hidden.

Enticing, exotic, seductive. Café Rose descends into a hidden labyrinth where the finely bred rose gives way to darker pleasures.

Lifetherapy Escape Hand & Body Wash ($24.00 for 12 oz. from Lifetherapy and Open Sky. Reviewed here): This non-stripping hand and body wash leaves skin moisturized, soft, and supple. The fragrance fills the shower and thankfully lingers in the air for a while so that the enjoyment doesn't end when you finish showering. This also works beautifully for shaving legs and underarms!
The scent is a delectable fresh scent that I cannot get enough of!

Frizz Keratin Conditioner sample packets: Not enough use to comment on one way or another.
Kate Somerville Exfolikate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment ($85.00-$175.00 from Nordstrom, Sephora, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. Reviewed here): Kate Somerville's Exfolikate is a seriously powerful exfoliating treatment, it is so effective (and potent) that you only need to leave it on your face for 30 seconds and voilà your skin is smooth and bright, and your pores are deeply cleaned. I already have a replacement tube, it's that good!

RADICAL Skincare Peptide Infused Antioxidant Serum ($190.00 for 1 oz. Available from Radical SkincareSpaceNK USSpaceNK UK (£125.00), Barneys New YorkSephoraDermstoreBeauty BarNet-a-PorterBloomingdale's & Harrod's £125.00. Reviewed here): It is a very potent antioxidant rich anti-aging serum that not only protects the skin, but also moisturizes and imparts an unmistakable ethereal glow. The richly packed peptides increase collagen production and the antioxidants work overtime protecting the skin against the damaging effects of free radicals. The Trylacel suspension technology maintains maximum potency of the antioxidants, and that makes Radical Skincare products exceedingly effective.

RADICAL Skincare Youth Infusion Serum ($170.00 for 1 oz. from Radical SkincareSephoraBarneys New YorkSpace NKBloomingdale's, Saks Fifth AvenueDermstoreHarrodsSkin StoreQVCBeauty Expert (UK) and Look Fantastic (US & CA). Reviewed here): This is, without question, one of my most reached for serums because it delivers noticeable results. Conceived to rejuvenate aging skin, this serum, which features plant based stem cells, promotes skin cell turnover without drying the skin, and it simultaneously reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, Algae extract, which boosts collagen production, helps to tighten and lift that has started to become slack. Hyaluronic Acid hydrates the skin and plumps fine lines, while Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice soothes irritated and inflamed skin. The result is ultra-hydrated skin with vastly improved moisture retention, with overall improved skin tone, noticeably lifted skin, and the diminishment in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Furthermore, I noted that my skin was far more radiant, soft and supple.

What did you finish up, give away, toss out or return in June? Were there any dud or praiseworthy products to report? Do tell!

Empties Post Volume XXVI: October 2014 Edition

Press Samples and Purchase by Me (Unaffiliated Links)

I had a truly wretched bug during the first half of October, and as a result I sought to use up samples and mostly empty products in an effort to avoid infecting anything else. Product testing came to a screeching halt, and I didn't wear any makeup for the duration of my flu. Therefore, what you see was either nearly gone to begin with, or that I wasn't likely to infect. When it came to washing my face I used samples in order to keep my germy fingers out of my regular sized products.

Red Flower Moisturizing Body Lotion Blood Orange: I love this lotion so much because it imparts the perfect amount of moisture to the skin and the Blood Orange scent is intoxicatingly delicious!

Rituals Magic Touch Cherry Blossom & Rice Milk Whipped Body Cream: This is an utterly amazing body cream! The whipped texture feels amazing to the touch, and this baby really nourishes the skin leaving it unbelievably soft, supple and silky. The scent is sweet and very pleasing.

Rituals Zensation Organic Rice Milk & Cherry Blossom Foaming Shower Gel (Reviewed here): Rituals makes truly amazing body products, and their Foaming Shower Gels are absolutely wonderful! Not only does this cleanse the skin beautiful, and leave it silky smooth and moisturized, but it also doubles as an amazing shaving cream!

Caress Aqua Sparkle Body Wash (Reviewed here): I really liked this body wash because it smells delicious and does a nice job cleaning the skin without stripping it. I already have a replacement!

Caress Aqua Emerald Rush Body Wash (Reviewed here): I loved the smell! Like the Sparkle Body Wash, I already have a replacement!

Udderly Smooth Body Cream (Reviewed here): This is a very rich moisturizing cream, and my husband used it up!

Udderly Smooth Shea Butter Foot Cream (Reviewed here): I love slathering this on my feet at night and wearing cozy socks, and when I wake up my feet are so soft!

Christine Reconstructive Conditioner (Reviewed here): This is such a nourishing conditioner! It leaves my hair silky smooth, detangled, and shiny!

DermOrganic Texture Taffy (Reviewed here): DermOrganic makes amazing haircare products, and their Texture Taffy holds hair in place beautifully!

Philip B. Forever Shine Shampoo: I love Philip B. haircare products, and have used many of them. This definitely seems like a very nice shampoo. My favorite shampoo from the line is their White Truffle Ultra-Rich Moisturizing Shampoo-- it is so luxurious and decadent, and works wonders on my naturally curly hair!

Kiss My Face Cucumber Green Tea Natural Active Life Deodorant: I have repurchased this deodorant so many times, and need to pick up another next time I go to Whole Foods. I love this stuff!

Natural Style Moisture Shine Deep Conditioner & Co-wash packets: This seems nice, but sample packets don't tend to give me enough time with a product to be able to tell whether or not it will work for me.

Molton Brown Orange and Bergamot Body Wash: Simply delectable. I need a big bottle of this in my life!

Moroccanoil Hand Cream and Body Souffle Samples: Very nice products, but the samples didn't allow me to use them long enough to really see their effects. I definitely want to investigate their new line of body products further.
Sponge Krema Triantafillo (Rose and Sage Cream) (Reviewed here): This is a nourishing and healing cream that feels amazing on the skin-- I whimpered when I finished this bottle, and will eventually replace it!

Sponge Ladi Avokanto (Reviewed here): This is a gorgeous olive oil and avocado based beauty oil that feels amazing on the skin, and it leaves it nourished, hydrated and glowing!

The Organic Pharmacy Virgin Cold Pressed Rose Hip Oil (Reviewed here): The Organic Pharmacy remains one of my very favorite lines, and their beauty oils are amazing! If you are looking for a great cold pressed Rose Hip oil-- this is definitely one to consider!

Caudalie Makeup Remover Cleansing Water: This is a nice cleansing water, but I do wish that it contained less fragrance.

Radical Skincare Anti-Aging Replenishing Extreme Moisture (Reviewed here): This is definitely one of my favorite face creams, and it will definitely be getting plenty of use now that the weather is cooling down!

Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask: This is a really nice exfoliating mask, but the sample only allowed for a single use, and therefore I didn't use it long enough to say more than that.

Arcona Overnight Cellular Repair Complex: I didn't use this long enough to review it, since it is a deluxe sample, but I used it long enough to see that it is an excellent overnight repair cream! I want a full sized jar now!

Kate Somerville Exfolikate (Reviewed here): Seriously amazing scrub, and I can't imagine ever being without a tube!

Lab Sample from Painted Earth Cosmetics: Absolutely amazing beauty oil, and I can't wait to try the finalized version!

TATCHA POLISHED Classic Rice Enzyme Powder (14 packets!) (Reviewed here): A Classic, indeed. This amazing powder leaves skin baby's bottom soft, and effectively whisks away dead skin cells! I will buy this over and over again! This is one of the only things that made me feel semi-human when I had the flu, and I used up my travel packets to keep my germy hands off of my full-size jar!

Reviva Labs Microdermabrasion Pomegranate Scrub (Reviewed here): This is a highly effective, and also very affordable, scrub that really transforms the skin from dull to luminescent in no time at all. It is also wonderful when used on the body!
Shu Uemura Lip Pencil: This lip liner appears to have been discontinued long ago, but it was wonderful down to the last bit. Thankfully I have a full unused backup that I just opened, and will savor to that last use!

Tweezerman Eyenhance Brow Definer and Highlighter Duo (Reviewed here): This was a really nice definer and highlighter, and once I run out of what I have I will likely seek this one out again!

What did you finish up, throw away, give away, or return in September? Did you make any new skincare or makeup discoveries that have you smitten? Any duds never again to be repurchased?

The Beauty Spotlight Team Sends Helen from Lola's Secret Beauty Blog to Their Desert Island- What Were My Must-Have Beauty Picks?

Source
When it was my time to be dropped off on The Beauty Spotlight Team Desert Island I found myself enchanted by the idea of getting away from the stress of work and peacefully sitting on the beach and sipping a Mojito. That I was only allowed to take 12 items on this adventure meant that I really had to think through what I absolutely needed to have under those circumstances. The choices that I did make needed to be pragmatic, and the products needed to rank among my favorites, whenever possible. I also decided to take a more literal approach to being abandoned on a desert island. Realizing that I would have little need for makeup- I opted to make it all about skincare (both face and body). The nearby residing mermen provide the island guests with sunscreen and lip balm- therefore I was not required to bring those two items with me since they were available in limitless supply.

I didn't bring tweezers or a razor in order to eliminate unwanted hair- because I assumed that the mermen were adept at using found objects on the island to take care of such matters (these mermen are sea spa certified aestheticians, and are both inventive and highly skilled at their craft). I am, therefore, embracing the idea that my island getaway is ostensibly a beauty retreat. I also didn't bring shampoo, conditioner, or a brush- because it is my hope that my ingenious mermen will have a solution, or that one of my Beauty Spotlight Team friends left some of these items behind. However, in a pinch I can always use a few of my beauty products to keep my hair clean and conditioned.

I decided that since I was going to be exposed to the elements that I needed to bring lots of serums and potions that would fight free-radicals, and offer plenty of added anti-aging protection. My rationale was that anti-aging products coupled with a high SPF sunscreen would combat the aging effects of my exposure to the elements, and by the time that I was rescued my skin would be healthy, glowing, and gorgeous.
For the Face:
For the Body:
The individual products:

1) FutureDerm Time Release Retinol 0.5 (reviewed here): I swear by high quality retinol based products- they keep skin clear and lines at bay. I use it at night only, and then load up on sunscreen the following day to keep my skin ultra-protected after treatment (retinol can cause photosensitivity- therefore it is imperative to use a sunscreen everyday). My exposure to the elements on the desert island requires that I take extra good care of my skin- therefore I knew that I had to bring this retinol with me!
2) vbeauté It Kit (reviewed here): The It Kit includes large travel sizes of Undercover Agent Anti-Wrinkle Protecting Serum (reviewed here), Rub Off Gentle Facial Exfoliator (reviewed here), Evidence Eraser Gentle Foaming Cleanser (reviewed here), Buying Time Everyday Crème (reviewed here) and Eye Never Nourishing Repair Eye Crème (reviewed here). The It Kit is the perfect skincare travel companion because it really does include everything that you need for a getaway. I will use these products day and night, and the result will be gorgeous, clean, glowing skin. The carrying case is so chic, and it includes a nice big mirror that I will surely use daily on the island.
3) Koh Gen Do Cleansing Water (reviewed here): This amazing cleansing water will be the perfect must-have beauty treat while I am a resident on the Beauty Spotlight Team Desert Island. Not only is it a refreshing tonic for the skin, that I can use whenever my skin feels a little dirty, but it can also be used it lieu of a cleanser whenever I'm too tired to wash my face.

4) The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Face Firming Serum (review forthcoming).
5) The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Face Gel (review forthcoming).
6) The Organic Pharmacy Rose Plus Marine Collagen Complex (review forthcoming).

These three serums can be used individually or in concert, and when combined they are a triple threat in the realm of anti-aging products. The Antioxidant Face Firming Serum is a lovely face oil that has the fresh bouquet of oranges and orange blossom. It effortlessly melts into the skin leaving behind an amazing glow and exquisite hydration. When used with the Antioxidant Face Gel and Rose Plus Marine Collagen Complex, the skin is not only protected against free radicals, but the texture and clarity of the skin are markedly improved. My skin looks bright, clear, hydrated, and utterly amazing because of these three little bottles! They definitely rank among my greatest recent skincare discoveries, and will serve me well on the Desert Island (and when I return to civilization).

7) vbeauté Lip Spread (reviewed here): Lip Spread was chosen for this trip not only because it is filled with anti-aging properties, but also because it is a gorgeous pink-tinted lip gloss that I can also use lightly on my cheeks if I want an added pop of color. This is one of those Holy Grail products that I won't leave  home without, and it was an obvious choice for my Desert Island retreat.

8) My Prime Skin Recovery Formula (reviewed here): This is an amazing serum that is a very lightweight skin-brightening treatment that gives skin an unmistakable dewy glow while simultaneously targeting skin damage. I wouldn't even consider braving the elements of the Desert Island retreat without having this little beauty warrior in my arsenal. This corrective serum will offset any inadvertent damage that the island weather conditions may cause, and the more prepared that I am- the better are my chances of maintaining beautiful and healthy skin! No desert island destination would be complete without the inclusion of this Holy Grail skincare magician!

9) Kate Somerville Exfolikate (reviewed here): While I do have a lovely exfoliator in my It Kit, I still had to include Exfolikate. Exfolikate is no normal exfoliator, instead it resides somewhere between a peel and a physical exfoliant. Exfolikate literally melts away dead skin because of all of the fruit enzymes and Salicylic Acid, and the effects are truly remarkable. It is a very powerful treatment that reduces the appearance of fine lines, gives the skin an unbelievable glow, and unclogs pores. On the evenings that I use this, I will skip my retinol, and just use a serum and moisturizer. I will continually repurchase this unbelievably effective product.

10) Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Body Oil (reviewed here): This is definitely my very favorite body oil of all time. It is luxurious and delightfully moisturizing- making it an obvious choice. I can also use it in my hair for added moisture and conditioning.

11) Sponge Galaktoma Somatos Body Lotion (reviewed here): This gorgeous body lotion is filled with all sorts of anti-aging ingredients, and it was for this reason that I decided to bring it to use in conjunction with Olio Lusso. I will need to treat the rest of my body with the same care and respect that I would my face, and this lotion will offer ample protection.

12) kai deodorant (reviewed here): This is definitely my very favorite deodorant, and the lovely floral scent evokes an island paradise- therefore it is befitting that it would be one of my twelve choices.

The gracious mermen told me that they would bring me any lip balm and sunscreen that I would like to use during my stay- even if my choices were extravagant. I needed no time to decide what I wanted- so I submitted my order, and then waited on the beach for the merman to arrive.

Poor Sebastian the merman was swimming as fast as he could to make the delivery! And once he arrived, he handed me these three magical Holy Grail products and made me a Mojito. We chatted and he told me about some of the beauty treatments that I would be enjoying while getting some much needed R&R!
Since the sunscreens and lip balms were being provided to me in a limitless supply, I decided to use my beloved Clarins UV PLUS HP Ecran Multi-Protection SPF 40 (reviewed here) from head to toe! I also decided that I would choose two lip balms instead of just one because Sebastian suggested that some variation would be good. He asserted that I should use one with sunscreen for day use, and another without for use during the evenings. I chose my beloved Rodin Olio Lusso Lip Balm for the evenings (enthusiastically reviewed here), and the glorious By Terry Baume de Rose (reviewed here) for the days that I frolic in the sun since it contains an SPF. Between these two lip balms and my Lip Spread Anti-Age Tinting Lip Gloss- I will be set!

After Sebastian swam away, I crawled into my hammock and took the most peaceful nap without a worry or a care. Later I will take a nice long walk on the beach, and a dip in the ocean to hang out with the school of mermen. My stay on this lovely island is so peaceful that I might just hide when the Beauty Spotlight Team comes to retrieve me after my two week stay comes to an end!

While I am decidedly a city girl, and my idea of the perfect island looks more like this- I have to admit the peace and quiet of the Beauty Spotlight Team Desert Island offered me a level of relaxation that is seldom found in the midst of a busy bustling city.
