Fun Gift Activities for Mother's Day

If you want to give your mom a Mother's Day to remember, instead of buying her an object, consider any of these activities to be done together.

1) Do at-home facials together. This is a wonderful way to have fun with your mom, and you will both feel pampered!

2) Take your mom to a concert or play. This is such a great way to spend the day together, and it will surely create wonderful memories.

3) Take your mom to a museum to spend the day looking at art, and treat her to lunch at the museum restaurant. Check to see what exhibitions are on view that would interest her the most.

4) Make your mom brunch at home. It is more affordable and relaxed– not to mention a fun way to spend the day together. Go for a walk together, and then perhaps stream one of her favorite movies or tv shows.

5) Have a picnic at the beach or the park. If you live near the coast, consider a picnic at the beach. If not, then a picnic at a park is a great alternative. Don't forget your beach umbrella, water and sunscreen.

6) Give your mom an at-home mani and pedi. This is such a fun way to create memories, and a great way to pamper your mom.

7) Take your mom to a botanical garden. If you have a botanical garden nearby, then this is such a beautiful way to spend the day together.

8) Have a family BBQ to celebrate your mom. This is a wonderful way for the family to spend the day together pampering mom.

At-Home Spa Day and Brunch for Mother's Day

If you are trying to find the perfect way to pamper your mom this Mother's Day, then I highly recommend an at-home spa day and brunch. She will feel loved and pampered, and you can create a day filled with precious memories. Here are 10 easy steps, and you can use products that you already have. You can also buy a few special skincare treats for your mom that you can use on her that she can unwrap and take home after.

STEP I: To begin the facial, pump out enough of your favorite Cleansing Oil for your face, neck and décolleté. Massage it for about 1 minute in a circular motion concentrating on the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. After massaging, the skin add a few drops of warm water in order to emulsify the oil (if it is the type that emulsifies), and then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

STEP II: Use your favorite gentle cleanser to remove any excess cleansing oil, if you are a fan of double cleansing.

STEP III: Gently exfoliate your skin, using your favorite facial scrub. Gently massage into your wet face neck and décolleté in a light circular motion. When cleansers and exfoliants do their job properly, one can use far less of their favorite potions and lotions, and therefore can save a lot of money on wasted product. Nowhere is this more evident than when one has to replace an ultra-expensive serum all too soon. 

STEP IV: Now that all you have removed dead skin cells, apply your favorite serum to your face, neck, and décolleté, and massage it into skin in an upward motion. 

STEP V: Select your favorite luxury face oil and massage it into your skin in an upward motion. Be sure that you use enough to cover your face, neck and décolleté.

STEP VI: Warm a small amount of your favorite face lotion or cream between your fingertips and massage it in to your face, neck and décolleté. Massage upward and outward in order to boost circulation. 

STEP VII: If you use a separate eye cream, then warm a tiny amount between your ring fingers and then gently pat it into the delicate eye area.

STEP VIII: Apply your sunscreen.

STEP IX: Massage a rich hand cream into your freshly washed cuticles and hands.

STEP X: Make your mom her favorite breakfast or brunch.

Kneipp Actif Gel Joint and Muscle Arnica and Mountain Pine ($25.00 for 6.76 oz. from Kneipp): This refreshing lightweight gel, which is infused with healing Arnica, is the perfect post-workout gel that soothes sore muscles and gives you a sense of well-being. The light Mountain Pine aroma is uplifting, but it is neither cloying, nor in the least bit overpowering.

Directions: Apply on skin, preferably after showering or bathing 2. massage in until completely absorbed.

Kneipp Almond Blossom Body Wash Soft Skin ($14.00 for 6.76 oz. from Kneipp, Kneipp's Official Amazon Store and Dermstore): Almond Blossom is one of my favorite Kneipp fragrances, and I covet anything from their range of products that features this delectable fragrance. It is a subtle and warm floral that is a treat to the senses. Furthermore, this hydrating body wash thoroughly cleans the skin without stripping or drying it. The creamy, emollient lather is perfect for shaving your legs as well. This product is vegan and therefore does not contain any components of animal origin.

Kneipp Bath Oil Muscle Soothing Juniper ($20.00 for oz. from Kneipp and Skin Care RX): This wonderful soothing bath oil is the perfect post-workout soothing treatment for tired muscles. It has a lovely and exhilarating Juniper aroma, and it leaves skin soft, smooth and moisturized.

Ingredients: Polysorbate 20, Pinus Pinaster Oil, Aqua (Water), Parfum (Fragrance), Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Gaultheria Procumbens (Wintergreen) Leaf Oil, Limonene, Juniperus Communis Fruit Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Linalool, Tocopherol.

LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant in Pure Vanilla ($14.00 for oz. from Sephora, Ulta, Adore Beauty, Birchbox, Dermstore and Beauty Encounter): I am a longstanding proponent of healthy deodorants, and have been using them for many years. Though I have occasionally used mainstream deodorants, I do prefer to avoid the chemicals. LAVANILA makes wonderful healthy deodorants that are effective and smell wonderful (though they also make an unscented variant for sensitive skin). Their Pure Vanilla scent is one of my very favorites because it smells utterly scrumptious, and offers long-lasting protection.

Overall Assessment: I love each of these products, and use them regularly, and think that they are perfect picks for Mother's Day gifts.
