FOREO LUNA 2 for Combination Skin | Review

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

I love a great facial cleansing brush, and by far, my favorite has been the FOREO LUNA (Reviewed HERE). I actually didn't think that I could find something better than my LUNA for Sensitive/Normal Skin, but when FOREO launched their LUNA 2 line I was proven wrong. If you had told me a year ago that FOREO would be launching the LUNA 2, I would have said why mess with perfection, but they clearly knew what they were doing because the new design is even better than the original.
This time, I decided to try the LUNA 2 for Combination Skin, and I simply couldn't be happier. Given that my skin is normal/combination I had some wiggle room about which type to select, but since I already have the original LUNA for Sensitive/Normal Skin– I thought that I would try something different.
FOREO made numerous changes in the LUNA 2, and they created four specialized designs to more precisely meet the needs of combination skin, normal skin, oily skin and sensitive skin.

According to FOREO,

The revolutionary designed LUNA 2 is an enhanced T-Sonic™ face brush and anti-aging system that gives you a completely personalized cleansing. The LUNA 2 is now available with four specialized brush types for a tailor-made skin care experience.

The LUNA 2 goes beyond the standard facial cleansing brush by delivering real skin care results that you – and everyone else – will see. Indulge in a 2-minute daily gentle skin care routine and uncover a more luminous, refined and youthful look.

The next-generation LUNA 2 facial cleansing brush utilizes up to 2X the T-Sonic power to gently exfoliate dead skin cells, unclog pores of makeup residue, and remove up to 99.5% of dirt and oil. The LUNA 2 face brush also improves the absorption of your favorite skincare products.
Left to Right: FOREO LUNA 2 for Combination Skin and FOREO LUNA for Sensitive/Normal Skin

While the overall size of the LUNA and LUNA 2 are the same, FOREO has increased the surface area of the cleansing brush and the anti-aging massage surface by 50%. The bigger brush head, coupled with the longer touch-points make the new version far more effective and efficient. The silicone touch-points are plush and offer greater comfort and higher performance.
The efficacy of this cleaning device is possible because the LUNA 2 features 8,000 Transdermal Sonic (T-Sonic) pulsations per 2 minutes at 2X the power, and because it delivers the deepest cleaning possible while remaining very gentle on the skin. In fact, the touch points are even softer in the new generation LUNA 2 models making them more gentle on the skin that the original LUNA.

The LUNA 2 boasts 12 customizable intensities that allows you to alter the intensity depending on the needs of your skin at any given moment. Furthermore, when utilizing the anti-aging side of the LUNA 2, their lower-frequency pulsations specifically target the wrinkle prone areas of the face, and smooth and firm the appearance of the skin.

The nonporous silicone is ultra-hygienic, and is therefore resistant to bacterial buildup. While it is completely waterproof, and thus perfect in the shower, I do not store it in the shower because it is more sanitary to store it in a dry environment. Because of its innovative design, FOREO asserts that the LUNA 2 is 35% more hygienic than standard cleansing brushes. Unlike traditional traditional cleansing brushes, with removable heads, the LUNA 2 naturally harbors less bacteria.

The sealed charging port is, "waterproof to a depth of 1 meter allowing for easy cleaning and use in the bath or shower."
The LUNA 2 is 100% waterproof, and therefore can safely be used in the shower and bathtub.
Each full charge results in an astounding 450 uses!

Unlike cleaning devices with removable brush heads, that only clean the face, the LUNA is an ingenious two-sided sonic cleaner that offers added functionality. The brush cleaning surface effectively and efficiently cleans the face, but it also features a visionary Anti-Aging Surface that treats wrinkle-prone tension spots.

The pragmatic design, which altogether eliminates the need for a removable brush-head that has to be replaced every few months, eliminates the same level of cleaning to remove bacteria buildup from the device itself.

I also find that the LUNA'S cleaning surface, comprised of the rounded silicone touch points offer a more efficient means of cleaning the skin. For instance, the Clarisonic has longer bristles that keep the base of the cleaner at a greater distance from the skin, and its pulsations are more diffused by its brush. Conversely, the LUNA 2's T-Sonic Pulsations are transferred directly from the base unit to the face without this greater distance between the base and the tips of the bristles.

While both types of devices clean the skin, the LUNA 2 offers a built-in massage because of its intimate proximity to the skin, and the direct transfer of the full intensity of the T-Sonic Pulsations–  even when using the Cleaning Surface instead of the Anti-Aging Surface.
Why is a Silicone Brush More Effective than a Bristle Brush-Based Cleaner?

In addition to being more hygienic, the added benefit of not having to buy replacement brushes makes the LUNA more economical over time.

It is not only the brush, in devices like the Clarisonic, that require cleaning, but also the area under the brush where it attaches to the base since it harbors tremendous bacterial build-up there as well. Given that there are no moving parts to attach and detach on the LUNA, it is much easier to clean, and its nonporous silicone body is far more resistant to bacteria than a detachable brush. I also always store my LUNA in a dry cabinet free from sunlight, moisture, or fluctuations in temperature.

What is the best way to use the LUNA?

1) Apply your favorite cleanser. Wet the LUNA 2 and activate its Cleansing Mode.

2) Cleanse: Gently glide the LUNA 2’s cleansing surface in circular motions over your face for 1-2 minutes.

3) Rinse and dry your face. Apply skincare products,.

4) Anti-Aging: Activate the LUNA 2’s Anti-Aging Mode. Press its anti-aging surface onto wrinkle-prone areas for a total of 1 minute.

I  use the LUNA 2 once a day, in the mornings, while I shower. I prefer this method to standing in front of the sink because it is less messy to use it on my face, neck and décolleté in the shower since rinsing is much easier than at the basin.
The Cleansing Mode:

The first thing that I do is dampen my face and then apply my cleanser directly to my skin, and then begin using the LUNA 2. If I use the LUNA 2 in the evening, rather than in my morning shower, then I first remove all of my makeup and then dampen my face and apply my cleanser. I have also used an alternative method by applying the cleanser directly to the LUNA and then activating the lather with my fingertips before using the LUNA. I prefer apply it to my skin because I am able to use less cleanser that way.

Follow by wetting the LUNA’s brush surface, then turn on the device by pressing the center button once– which activates the Cleansing Mode. I tend to use the LUNA 2 on my face for a full 2 minute cycle, and  use it for 30 seconds on each zone of my face (forehead, nose and chin, right side of my face, and left side of my face).

1. Start cleansing your chin,  move along your jaw to your ear using gentle upward strokes, then continue higher to cleanse the whole cheek.
2. Change to the other side of your face and repeat step 1.
3. Starting from the center of your forehead, cleanse the entire region with gentle outward strokes to both sides.
4. Cleanse one side of the nose by gently gliding the LUNA 2 up and down, then change to the other side of the nose.  Finally, delicately cleanse the under-eye region using outward strokes.

The Anti-Aging Mode:

While I have a few expression lines, as opposed to deep-set wrinkles, I have definitely noticed that they appear finer and softer since using LUNA 2 Anti-Aging Mode.

FOREO suggests spending around 12 seconds on each of the face’s wrinkle-prone tension points:

1. Region between the eyebrows
2. Right temple
3. Right nasolabial fold
4. Left nasolabial fold
5. Left temple
Tangible Results:

Not only does the LUNA 2 more efficiently clean my skin than the LUNA, but it also is more efficient in loosening and removing debris that clogs my pores. The brush itself is softer, more gentle with longer touch points. Like the original LUNA, you don't need to apply pressure to the LUNA 2 to enhance its ability to clean, all that is needed is a light touch and the LUNA 2 will do all of the work for you.

My skin is more luminous, radiant, even-toned, balanced and healthy since making the LUNA part of my daily ritual, and the LUNA 2 is even more effective and efficient.

The LUNA 2 thoroughly, and gently, cleans the skin and removes dead skin cells which allows serums, beauty oils and creams to absorb more deeply. Furthermore, clean and unclogged skin requires the use of less product, and therefore it is a far more economical approach to skincare in the long run.

The Anti-Aging Mode visibly softens fine lines and appears to tone the skin. Skin appears lifted and more taut, and continued use really sustains and enhances the results. It also feels amazingly relaxing, and is the perfect way to get centered.

LUNA™ 2 NORMAL SKIN
LUNA™ 2 OILY SKIN
LUNA™ 2 SENSITIVE SKIN
Overall Assessment: I definitely think that the LUNA 2 is an improvement over the LUNA. I really love the LUNA 2, but if you already own the LUNA there is no need to spend the money on the LUNA 2. If, however, you have been wanting to buy a FOREO LUNA, I would definitely suggest buying the LUNA 2. A+++ cleaning devise. I use mine every single day, and thoroughly enjoy the ritual and the unmistakable results.

I love that a)it's so small (easy for traveling), b)no more brush replacement, c)450 minutes of use with a single 1 hour charge. While I did like my Clarisonic I didn't love it. 1. Hi Hyemi!

I completely understand! I reach for the normal/combination LUNA because the larger size touch points work so well on my T-zone area. It just seems to more effectively treat that region while also being perfect for the rest of my skin. My skin is definitely normal/combination with an active T-zone, and it sounds like our skin is similar. I don't think that you could go wrong with either version, but if your skin is like mine, then I think that you might prefer the LUNA for Combination skin! Keep me posted!

    1. Hi Crumbs N Crust,

Given that your skin is normal with an oily Tzone, and that you want to treat whiteheads and blackheads, I would think that you might benefit more from the FOREO LUNA for combination skin. The bigger silicone touch points will be more effective on your whiteheads and blackheads than the touch points of the one for sensitive skin. I would just use a light touch on the dry areas of your skin, like your cheeks, or would gently hand wash those areas instead. If you are having a rash, then I wouldn't use a device on those areas at all. If I was in your situation I would go see my dermatologist to see what the underlying cause is for the rash, and you might want to wait to use a FOREO LUNA until you are able to effectively treat that rash. A device such as this one could really exacerbate the issue, and that definitely wouldn't be worth it. While I am not a dermatologist, that rash could be an indication of an allergic reaction to products/ingredients, or could possibly be an indication of a skin condition that needs to be addressed by a doctor.

With respect to whiteheads and blackheads on the nose and between the brows, I definitely find the FOREO LUNA for combination skin to be very effective. Keep me posted! :-)

    1. Hi neenee1019,

I completely understand your frustration in finding unbiased online product reviews. I neither work for FOREO (or any other cosmetic/skincare company), nor do they pay me to review their products. I fully disclosed that this is a press sample, and that this post contains affiliate links, but I expressed my own unbiased views. I never permit any companies to edit my content, or to modify my views in any way. I run Lola Secret Beauty Blog because i love high quality skincare and makeup, and because my reviews can help people decide which products may or may not be worth trying. I do this because I love interacting with my readers, and helping people in any way that I can. I have a full-time career, as a college professor, and make time to maintain this blog because I care about it.

I receive piles of emails and comments from readers asking me for my honest assessment of products, and they most often ask whether I think that they need this or that product, and I am always completely honest with them. Furthermore, luxury products are very expensive, and if I can help readers save money– either by finding them great deals, or by stating that a particular product seems unnecessary for them– then I feel great that I helped out. It takes a tremendous amount of time to write in-depth reviews and articles, and after having owned this blog or 5 years I remain committed to bringing high quality content to my loyal readers.

If you are on the fence about the FOREO LUNA, and have any questions about it– then I would be happy to help in any way that I can. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and leave a comment! :-)

  15. Hi Lola.. Thank you for replying. I went ahead to get the Foreo Luna 2 combination one instead of the normal ( pink) one.

The rash I was talking about is not a serious rash.. It's like a red spot or two. Nothing serious.

I had a difficult time choosing cos my skin used to be very oily is it not so. I get a slight shine on my nose and forehead by afternoon if I'm out. Cheeks are dry and sometimes flaky.
As I've mentioned earlier.. I want to target white n black heads and hopefully milia oil seeds.

I look forward to receiving my Foreo and would let you know what I think :)

    1. Hi Chris,

You are very, very welcome! I am so glad that I was able to be helpful to you! I suspect that you will be very happy with your choice, and definitely think that the FOREO LUNA for combination skin will better address the needs of your oily T-Zone. blackheads and whiteheads. If your milia is under your eyes, I definitely wouldn't recommend using a cleaning device on the ultra-delicate skin under the eye area. I am milia prone under my eyes, and the greatest offender for me tends to be really rich eye creams that contain a combination of Mineral Oil and Petrolatum. If you have milia there, I can tell you some of the things that I have done, and products that I have used to get rid of milia.

I am glad to hear that the rash isn't serious. I wonder if you are having an allergic reaction to certain ingredients? It might be worth not applying anything to that area to see if it clears up on its own.

I can't wait to hear what you think about your LUNA! :-) Helen

    2. Hi Helen

The Foreo SA saw my skin and advised me to get the normal ( pink) even though I have combination skin. I have a couple of red spot , dry patch and she said I have slight allergy therefore normal skin will be better for me.

What do you think ?! You have used both normal and combination skin.. Would there be a huge difference?!

I've just received my Foreo Luna 2 combination and wonder should I return it and exchange for a normal one ( pink )

Would love your advice and what would you do in my shoe ?!

      Thanks
      Chris

      Delete
    3. Hi Chris,

Well, the SA had the benefit of actually seeing your skin, and I did not– so there may be some merit to what she said. That said, neither she, nor I are dermatologists and are not qualified to diagnose the dry patch or rash on your skin. If I was in your shoes, I would definitely see my doctor to find out the cause of this rash/irritation/dry, and see if there is a simple solution to heal it.

I think that you would likely benefit from either the normal or the combination skin LUNA, but I think that the combination version is more effective on an oil T-Zone and with blackheads and whiteheads. I definitely wouldn't use either of them on the irritated area of your face where this rash persists. I am always very, very cautious when it comes to my skin, and I do everything in my power not to exacerbate sensitive and irritated areas.

Talk to you soon! Helen :-)

    1. Hi Chris,

At one point the milia under eyes was noticeable enough that I thought that I was going to have to have my dermatologist remove them, but I wanted to exhaust all other options before I incurred that expense In my research I learned that eye creams that are too rich can be the culprit and that the pool under the skin in the same way that excess sebum, but without the benefit of larger pores from which they can be purged.

My first step was to take stock of the eye creams that I was using at the time, and there were numerous offenders ranging from some that were simply too rich for my skin, and others that contained Petrolatum and Mineral Oil in high concentrations. The first thing that I did was stop using all of them, and instead began using lighter weight eye creams without those two ingredients. This worked well– in that it stopped the formation of milia. However, I needed to find some sort of effective, safe and gentle product that would slough off dead skin cells to help eliminate the remaining milia.

I found a product at Sephora years ago, called Truth is in the Eyes from Ole Henriksen, that lightly exfoliated dead skin cells and helped to eliminate the milia. My review was from back in 2011, and I am not sure if they still make this product:

      http://www.lolassecretbeautyblog.com/2011/12/ole-henricksen-truth-is-in-eyes-review.html

I think it may have been replaced by their Total Truth Eye Cream SPF 15. Rather than spending the money on it– you might want to see if you can get a sample from Sephora to try. They may even have a suggestion for another product that does the same thing. I seldom have the need to use it now because using lighter eye creams really has done the trick.

I have not tried the Bliss Radiance Revitalizing Serum that you mentioned. Have you? If so, do you like it?

Yes, of course! You can email me at lolassecretbeautyblog@gmail.com

  18. Hi Helen,
Similar to Crumbs N Crust, i have an oily t-zone and only recently started getting dry cheeks (possibly because it is winter in Australia) but i am also struggling with deciding whether to get the LUNA 2 in sensitive or combination. My skin is generally sensitive to skin care where rashes can appear if a cleanser or toner is too strong but i dont know whether that would mean my skin is "sensitive" per say with cleansing devices? So i guess my skin at the moment is combo - oily tzone with dry cheeks. I am thinking whether the sensitive brush will be too soft and wont be enough to treat problem areas such as t-zone and pores/blackheads around the nose but at the same time I am worried whether the bigger touch points on the combination one will be too hard on my "sensitive" skin. I would really appreciate it if you could give me further advice. Thanks!!!

    1. Hi Belinda,

Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out to me! Given that your skin appears to be reactive to strong toners and cleansers, I am left to wonder whether it might be better to err on the side of caution and purchase the FOREO LUNA for sensitive skin. Have normal/combination skin, and an active T-Zone, and my FOREO LUNA for Sensitive Skin works very well for me. The bigger touch points on the FOREO LUNA for Combination Skin definitely works well on the T-Zone, but I think that I would opt for the Sensitive Skin model given your description of your skin. Also, if you opt for the Sensitive Skin model, you will be getting the updated version that has a larger surface area of touch-points– unlike my older version of that model. My skin can be sensitive, and reactive, at times– and when it is I reach for the FOREO LUNA for sensitive skin. I would also suggest that you use a light touch, rather then pressing the LUNA into the face with a lot of pressure– since sensitive skin can become reactive to too much pressure from cleansing devices. I find the FOREO LUNA to be a gentle and effective method of cleansing the skin, and am thoroughly obsessed with their products. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions! :-) Helen

    2. Hi Helen,
Thank-you for your prompt reply! I was wondering whether the LUNA 2 in the blue for combination skin would be okay since the touch points are softer than the original pink LUNA? Does the luna 2 for sensitive skin touch points clean the pores (e.g. around the nose) as well as the LUNA 2 combination? Sorry for all the questions! Any further advice would be greatly appreciated :)

      Delete
    3. Hi Belinda :-)
You are very welcome! The touch points definitely are softer in the LUNA 2 over the first generation. I can't compare the efficacy of the LUNA 2 for Sensitive skin to the LUNA 2 for Combination skin because my LUNA for Sensitive skin is first generation, and not quite the same as the new generation of LUNAS. I suspect that you could choose either one, but if you opt for the combination skin variant I would use a very light hand since your skin can be sensitive and reactive. What I will say, to help contextualize this, is that I saw remarkable results when I only had the original LUNA for Sensitive Skin, and it had no difficulty dealing with my active T-Zone. I do find that the LUNA 2 for Combination skin is more assertive on my T-Zone, but as I said I think that you will see huge benefits with whichever one you choose. Go with your gut instinct on it. However, remember that the difference between not using a LUNA and using any of them will be very obvious and pronounced.

    1. Hi Belinda,
Oh good, I am so glad that this was helpful to you! I think that the LUNA 2 for sensitive skin is probably the way to go since your skin can be quite reactive. The larger surf area of touch points is far superior to the previous incarnation, and I think that it will be more than enough to address the needs of your skin. Please let me know what you think when you look at the two– I am curious to know which one you will decide to get! Be sure when you check them out that you are actually looking at the LUNA 2 rather than the original version!! Have a lovely time in Hawaii! :-)

  20. Hi Helen & Belinda

I ended up getting the Combination one ( blue) instead of the normal/sensitive ( pink). I find the blue one ok. And cleaned my nose pretty well. Helped in the white/black heads.
I think like what Helen said .. Either one would be ok.

  22. Hello :)

I've come across you post because I'm searching every single review on this device. I've red blogs and saw videos on youtube, but definitely your post is the most complete and enlightening one.
I'm kind of obcessed to get the Luna 2, but I want to be sure that it's really a good investment because it is sooooo expensive!
In the USA it costs $200 (€182). Here in Portugal it's also 200 but euros ($219).
Fortunately for us, every month, all the stores like Sephora send an SMS to registered clients with a 20% off discount during 2 weeks (more or less). It's great, especially if you want to buy something as expensive as the Foreo Luna. Here in Portugal this brand is not sold on Sephora, but on Douglas.

I will be buying the Luna 2 for Sensitive skin.
I've always been very oily but since I hit the 30's (I'm 36 now) my skin started to change and now is more on the dehidrated side but even more sensitive and reactive than it already was. For instance, when I cudle with my husband my face starts itching and it looks like I have a sun burn, the rash is really intense :( This happens everytime my skin touches something a bit more harsh (like stubble).
And that's the main reason why I'm reading everything about this device, because I want to be sure that it's not going to cause me redness.
I already went into a Douglas store and touch the silicone bristles on the Sensitive Luna 2 and I loved it, they are so soft that I believe it's going to be very gentle on my skin.

Just wanted to say thank you for your extensive and explanatory post :)

    1. Hi Verissima,

You are VERY welcome! I definitely wanted it to be an in-depth post so that people could really decide whether it seemed like a good fit for their skin. It is expensive, and it's really good to be able to weigh all of the information before spending the hard-earned money.

I have normal combination skin, and I have both the sensitive (original version) and the combination skin (new version) devices, and I have really seen results from both. The fact that your skin has become more reactive, sensitive and dehydrated makes me think that you definitely made the right choice in choosing the LUNA 2 for Sensitive skin. I definitely would opt for the LUNA 2 model over the original model since the new ones have more surface are devoted to the brush head touch points. Since you have sensitive, reactive skin, I would be very careful not to press hard and apply pressure– just let the sonic pulses do their thing and your skin will thank you!

Please keep me posted once you get it– I would love to hear what you think! It's fantastic that you can get a 20% discount! I would definitely use it!

  23. hi there thks so much for your review on the luna 2 for combination skin. im obsessed with foreo luna 2 but havent decided which one should i get though. i have combination to oily skin but sometimes sensitive. for example i was allergic to Vichy cleanser which is meant to be good even on sensitive skin; and once i was also allergic to neutrogena sunscreen. So which one do you recommend for me? I love love the blue one and i feel like it's meant for me, but sometimes our feeling is just not true, you know :v. Im looking forward to your answer <3

    1. Hi Ngoc Ahn Alessandra, You are very welcome! I am so glad that you found my review helpful! I have normal/combination skin, but it can be sensitive at times. I tend to be quite cautious with my skin, and quite often select products that will be more gentle on sensitive skin. I don't know whether your reactions to the Vichy cleanser and the Neutrogena sunscreen is an allergic reaction to certain ingredients, or whether the ingredients triggered your sensitivities, but I would probably err on the side of caution and get the FOREO for Sensitive skin if your skin tends to be more sensitive and reactive. It might not be a bad idea to see them in person to feel the surface of each. You could also consult with one of their sales associates who could see your skin, and answer your specific questions. It's a sizable investment, and you certainly want to choose the right one for your skin. I have the sensitive FOREO and the one for Normal/Combination skin, but the first one that I got was the one for sensitive skin because I wanted their most gentle version. I like both a lot, and my skin is left very clean when I use either of them. Keep me posted! Happy New Year.

  24. Hi Helen! Many thanks for your review it is very very useful. I already have decided that I would like to buy Foreo, but I am in dilemma which one Foreo to choose: Foreo 2 for combined skin or Foreo mini 2. I have never used any devices to clean my skinn. What is your recommendation? Did you see anti-aging size also effective and useful? I have 33 years. Thanks a lot! Edīte

    1. Hi Edite!

You are very welcome! I am so glad that you found my review useful! I don't have the the FOREO Mini, and have never tried that one. I have the regular sized LUNA and the tiny LUNA Play (which is the size of a macaron), but I would definitely say that it is important to assess how you are going to use it before making the purchase. If you travel a lot, and want a compact size– then the mini is probably going to be a better choice for you. If, however, you don't travel a lot and want to maximize the surface area that you clean– then I would probably get the full size model. If you have a physical retailer near you who sells FOREO, it might be worth going and holding these two models in your hand to see which one feels better to you. I like the anti-aging side a lot, and notice that the massage that it gives to my muscles really relaxes them, an in turn this seems to soften the appearance of fine lines. Please keep me posted! Have a lovely weekend! :-)

  25. Hi Helen, I just got the Luna 2 for combination skin, the device and the websites says it has 12 different speeds, but i only managed to noticed 6 speed change at most. Are the 6 speeds in cleansing mode different from the 6 speeds for anti-aging mode?

    1. Hi LuDavin,

I don't often change the settings on my LUNA 2 because I found a setting that I really like, however, I played with mine and I seem to have 12 different settings. I just pushed the plus sign and noted that there was a definite difference. Some of the difference are more subtle, some change the type of pulses etc.

I found their manual online for further information:

I hope that this helps! Best,
      Helen

  26. Hi Helen!

So I really wanna get the Foreo Luna 2.
I got some blackheads around my nose and mouth so I thought about getting the one for combination skin, but I occasionally get some dry spots too, but nothing to worry about. In general my skin isn't really sensitive or super oily and I've never experienced any problems with a product or suffered from an allergic reaction because of one.
I would like to use my Foreo at least once and if possible twice a day, but I'm worried that the one for combination skin will therefore be too harsh for my skin. Should I get the one for normal skin (pink) then or even the one for sensitive skin (purple)?

    Thanks a lot!

    Serena

    1. Hi Serena,

Thank you for reaching out to me! Do you have a lot of blackheads on your nose and chin area, or what you consider to be a normal amount like most people have? I would get the FOREO that corresponds to the needs of all of your skin, rather than just a particular area (if it is small and more isolated). In other words, if you don't really have combination skin, then I probably wouldn't get that one. If you would characterize your skin as normal with periodic dry patches and some blackheads around the nose and chin, then I would probably opt for the FOREO for normal skin. If you have sensitive skin, then I wold get that one. I only use mine once a day, and I am very careful to neither press it into the skin, nor apply much pressure– instead I just let the sonic waved and touch points to all of the work for me.

The biggest difference between them is the size of the touch points, and in the case of the oily skin version the actual shape of the touch-points. From what you have described about your skin, it seems as though the normal skin version would be a great choice, and my guess is that the variation in the sizes of the touch-points will really help in loosening up the blackheads that you are trying to get rid of. However, if sensitivity is an issue, it seems like that version would be a better choice.

I have normal/combination skin, and I have been reaching for my FOREO for normal skin the most lately. I do get some blackheads on the side of my nose, and it definitely helps with them.

I would recommend using it several times a week when starting out until your skin acclimates to this cleansing device, and then gradually use it more, if need be. While I find the FOREO LUNA very effective, I am really careful not to overuse it since I feel as though I need to give my skin a break from overworking it.

Keep me posted, I would love to know what you think of the FOREO LUNA!

I hope hat this is helpful to you!

    2. Thank you so much for your quick response!

I would say I have a normal amount of blackheads around my nose and chin and I got some whiteheads too. I would use it mainly for that area because I recently got more pimples/acne than before. I saw that the combination one has three kinds of touch points. Ones from the sensitive and the normal one and the normal one only has two kinds of touch points so I really don't know which one to get since I wanna use it on a daily basis and improve my skin which hasn't been very good lately, but I worry that the combination one would be too harsh for daily use.

    3. Hi Serena,

You are so very welcome! If you are talking about the normal amount of blackheads and whiteheads that many people tend to get in those areas, then I would probably get the one for normal skin since that what you seem to have. I find that the touch-points on the FOREO for normal skin work quite well on my nose and chin, which is where i tend to get whiteheads and blackheads as well. If that was the only FOREO that I had I would be perfectly happy with it, and would see no need for the other. If your skin was oiler, or more combination, then it would make more sense, but it seems as though the rest of your skin doesn't really need those larger touch points. If you have access to seeing the various versions in person, I would recommend going and looking at them, and rather than buying one on the spot, I would go home and think about which one seems like the best fit for your skin. This is a sizable investment, and you should be happy with what you buy.

I hope that this is helpful! Helen

  27. Also not sure if I should go for normal or combination. I don’t have oily skin really so the normal foreo would be the obvious option however I think I would like the feeling of the slightly thicker bristles. Is there a noticeable different between them? In terms of the texture and feeling of using it?

    1. Hi Felix, Thank you so much for reaching out to me. I think that you would probably be okay with either model, but I tend to think that getting the one more well-suited to one's particular skin type generally is a good idea. It is definitely worth taking a look the newest version, the LUNA 3, to see the surface area differences between the ones for normal and combination skin. I have normal/combination skin, and I have found that I get good results with each of the models that I have tried. If you think that you would really prefer the feeling of more of the large touch points, found on the model for combination skin, then it might be your best bet. Since we are in the midst of a pandemic, it might be a bit harder to go view them in-store, but before spending this much money– you want to be reasonably certain that you are buying the one that you really want. Let me know if I can answer any other questions.
