February 2025 Empties for the Face, Body & Hair

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliated Links)

I managed to finish up 9 products in the short month of February, and only one was a deluxe travel size. This is another month in which I can state that I would happily use each one of these products again, and in most cases I have already opened another one of these finished products.

Spongellé With Love | in Bulgarian Rose & French Lavender Heart Buffer (These scents are sold out, but they have other scents available. $14.00 from Spongellé): Perfect for travel, these heart-shaped body wash infused buffers will cleanse, exfoliate, massage and love your skin." Spongellé Body Buffers are brilliant body wash-infused sponges effectively and gently clean and exfoliate the skin, and they also leave the it deliciously baby soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. They really excel in their ability to clean and exfoliate the skin while delighting the senses with their delightful aromas. Purchase Again? I just opened another one!

Mrs. Meyer's Compassion Flower Hand Soap ($4.99 for 12.5 oz. and a 3-pack for $14.64 from AmazonWalmart and Target): I should state that I did not use up two full size bottles in February, but instead that I finished up what was left of them. These were used at two different sinks (bedroom bath and kitchen), and those are high traffic areas. This is not your typical floral scented hand soap, but instead the aroma is neither too sweet, nor too fragrant. It has a light and delicate floral aroma that is uplifting and understated. This is a very moisturizing hand soap that neither strips the skin, nor leaves behind an oily residue. Instead, it is utter hand soap perfection.  Purchase Again? I already opened another bottle!

TATCHA The Water Cream ($72.00 for 1.7 oz. from TATCHASephora): This is something that I simply could not resist purchasing. I have a serious penchant for gel-cream textured moisturizers that immediately melt into the skin, that deeply hydrate and that leave behind no greasy or sticky residue. This antioxidant-rich cream, with its oil-free formula, boasts an emollient lightweight gel texture that melts into the skin upon contact and immediately delivers deep hydration. Skin is left silky smooth, soft and supple with a gorgeous dewy glow. It balances excessive oil production, without drying or mattifying the skin. It is recommended for normal to oily skin types, as well as for people seeking anti-aging benefits. Everything about this moisturizer is luxurious from its packaging to its beautifully experiential application, to its undeniable results. Purchase Again? Yes!

Erno Laszlo Light Controlling Lotion ($75.00 for 6.8 oz. from Erno LaszloNordstrom): This is among their remaining iconic products that I began using at the age of 17. Throughout the years, it is among the products that I return to again and again. Originally intended for normal, combination and oily skin types, it is now marketed for all skin types. It does contain alcohol, and therefore if your skin is particularly dry, and you avoid alcohol-based toners, then this probably isn't the best choice for you. However, while it does contain alcohol, I do not find it drying for my normal skin. It is a gentle and effective toner that binds moisture to the skin, because of the glycerin, while it effectively exfoliates dead skin cells without stripping. It leaves skin glowing, balanced and smooth. It does contain a light fragrance, but I find it quite pleasant. Of course for me the scent is a familiar one that evokes many memories, and my visceral reaction to this product goes well beyond its efficacy. I will say that using them is like visiting a beloved friend that I have known since childhood, and that familiarity is very comforting. Bottom line, though, it is still a great toner. Purchase Again? I just opened a deluxe sized bottle that I bought during their sale. I will say, however, that Erno Laszlo has discontinued so many products, raised prices and reduced sizes a lot over the last few years. Much of the brand is no longer all that familiar to me, and with all of the times that the company has sold over the years a lot of what made their products excellent has changed as they have formed a new brand identity.
LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant in Pure Vanilla ($12.00 for 2 oz. LAVANILAAmazonTarget): This is a wonderful healthy deodorant formula that is effective, smells delicious and offers long-lasting protection. Available in a nice range of scents, their scrumptious smelling Healthy Deodorants offer odor protection all day long, and the healthy ingredients condition the skin. If you are seeking an antiperspirant, then be advised that this does not prevent sweating. This has been my favorite healthy deodorant for many years now, and I will use it as long as LAVANILA makes it. It applies to the skin effortlessly, without tugging, and it never leaves a residue or stain on the clothes. This is a cruelty-free brand and their deodorants are free of aluminum and parabens. The Pure Vanilla scent is warm and creamy perfection, and wearing the deodorant and fragrance together is delectable! Purchase Again? Without question! I just opened another scent from their collection! Pure Vanilla, however, remains my very favorite.
Verité Spa Organics Japanese Lemon, Vanilla & Jasmine Hand Cream ($28.00 for 2.36 oz. from Boxwalla) This is an absolutely otherworldly hand cream. It is mid-weight, intensely emollient, and the antioxidant-rich formula melts into the skin immediately. Skin is left soft, velvety, unmistakably nourished, moisturized and delectably scented. The aroma is indescribably beautiful! It is a sublime mixture of Japanese Lemon, Rose Damascena Flower Water, Vanilla and Jasmine. You really have to experience it for yourself to understand its true beauty. This is, without question, my very favorite hand cream. This is leaving my chapped hands soft, smooth, supply and richly moisturized, and the aroma brings me tremendous joy! Purchase Again? Without question, but I need to use up a few more hand creams before buying more.
OUAI Dry Shampoo (Discontinued): This is the only deluxe travel size that I used up this month. I have absolutely no idea why OUAI discontinued this dry shampoo because it was absolutely amazing! It not only was a perfect pick for the days that I don't wash my hair, but it also added volume and was a great styling aid! Purchase Again? I don't want to buy pre-owned bottles online, and therefore I will just move on to the next dry shampoo that I have open.

Overall Assessment: I am please that I was able to finish up so many products in the short month of February. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in February. Any great discoveries to report? Any over-hyped duds?

July Empties 2024 for the Face, Body & Hair

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

I only managed to finish up 6 products in the month of July, and 5 were full-size and one was a travel size. I somehow thought that I was going to finish more skincare products, but it is now clear that won't be until the end of August. I thoroughly enjoyed using the products that I did manage to finish this month, and wanted to share my thoughts about each of them.
Spongellé Apple Blossom Body Wash Infused Body Buffer ($18.00 from Spongellé): These buffers with built-in body wash are infused with extracts of yuzu, edelweiss and vetiver root to cleanse, exfoliate, massage, and hydrate the skin. The refreshing fragrance features top notes of citrus tonic, watery pear, red apple. While the middle noted are a lovely floral medley composed of freesia, muguet and peony petals. The base notes may seem intense, but the musk, amber crystal and soft patchouli become warm and creamy when offset by the fruit and florals from the top and middle notes. Purchase Again? This one is a must-have for me!

Spongellé For the Two of Us | Sugar Dahlia Heart Buffer ($14.00. Currently on sale for $10.00 from Spongellé): "Send a love letter with Spongelle’s For The Two Of Us Heart Buffer in Sugar Dahlia. Perfect for travel, these heart-shaped body wash infused buffers will cleanse, exfoliate, massage and love your skin." The smell of this buffer is delectable, the top notes are composed of Citrus Nuances, Solar Accord, the middle notes are a delightful amalgam of Midnight Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Freesia, Muguet, Neroli, and the base notes are a lovely musk. Purchase Again? I have another one that I will open before too long!

Spongellé Mini Buffer Bits in Chiffon Rose ($10.00 from Spongellé): These darling buffers are inspired by tiny donut holes, these Body Wash Infused Buffer  Bits are available in four delectable scents (Jasmine Brûlée, Burnt Sugar, Cocoa Bon and Chiffon Rose). The dual-sided mini buffers are the perfect size for precise deep-cleansing, softening cuticles, nails, heels or any other areas of the body with small dry patches. They feature a special soft cleansing surface on one side and a gentle textured exfoliation on the other. Each Buffer Bit is infused with skin-softening triple butter and exfoliating sugarcane extract. Spongellé always makes impressive, covet-worthy products, and these are really fantastic, and I love to use them after gardening! Purchase Again? Yes!
shu uemura art of hair muroto volume lightweight hair mask ($73.00 for 6 oz. from shu uemura art of hair and Sephora): This is a truly luscious luxe hair mask that is very nourishing and hydrating, and it fights frizz, enhances shine and leaves hair very manageable. It has a light and clean aroma that is quite pleasant, but it isn't long-lasting. This was a pure joy to use, which tends to be my experience whenever I use their haircare products. Purchase Again? I am using up more of their conditioners from other collections before I purchase this again, but I would happily use it again in the future!
Erno Laszlo Phelityl Pre-Cleansing Oil ($67.00 for 6.4 oz. from Erno Laszlo and Nordstrom): This is a nourishing cleansing oil, with a comforting light and warm aroma, that is supposed to be massaged into dry skin. It removes makeup and dirt and helps to dislodge debris from clogged pores. After a few minutes of massaging the oil into the skin you dip your chosen Erno Laszlo cleansing bar (my choice is their Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar reviewed HERE) into a basin of warm water, then rub the bar on your oily face. Water activates the creamy lather and it deeply cleans the skin without any stripping (the oil acts as a buffer). Laszlo purists, like me, use the old splashing method which involves 20 splashes in the filled basin and then 10 splashes with fresh running water (the water should not be too hot). The end result is extraordinarily clean, soft skin that isn't in the least bit stripped. This is an amazing cleansing oil, and I had forgotten how much I had loved it, and the extent to which it is extraordinarily effective. Purchase Again? Probably not because I have far too many cleansing oils.
LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant in Pure Vanilla ($12.00 for 2 oz. and $8.00 for the travel size from LAVANILAAmazon and Target): is a wonderful healthy deodorant formula that is effective, smells delicious and offers long-lasting protection.

I already opened another full size one of these gems!
Overall Assessment: While I didn't finish up as many products as I had hoped, I am happy that I was able to recycle a few more containers this month, and finish open products before they went bad. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in July? Any great discoveries? Any huge disappointments?

May 2024 Empties for the Face, Body, Hair & Home

Press Sample & Purchased (Affiliate Links)

I am a little surprised that this month I mostly used up body and hair care products, and that there was a single skincare product and a candle to finish off the month of May. Of the 10 items used, 9 were full size, and one was a travel size (that I used at home, incidentally). Here is what I finished up:
Spongellé Mini Buffer Bits ($10.00 from Spongellé): Inspired by delectable tiny donut holes, these Mini Buffer Bits are a sweet extension of Spongellé’s skin-nourishing Confection Body Wash Infused Buffer Line. Available in four mood-enhancing scents (Jasmine Brûlée, Burnt Sugar, Cocoa Bon and Chiffon Rose), these adorable, dual-sided mini buffers are the perfect size for precise deep-cleansing, softening cuticles, nails, heels or any other areas of the body with small dry patches. They feature a special soft cleansing surface on one side and a gentle textured exfoliation on the other. Each Buffer Bit is infused with skin-softening triple butter and exfoliating sugarcane extract. These are especially effective after gardening since they really clear all of the dirt from under the nails! Purchase Again? I have another set in a different scent that I am just about to open!

Spongellé Love Always | Bulgarian Rose Heart Buffer ($14.00 from Spongellé): This delightful body buffer makes skin look and feel incredible, and the scent is heavenly. "Send a love letter with Spongelle’s Love Always Heart Buffer in Bulgarian Rose. Perfect for travel, these heart-shaped body wash infused buffers will cleanse, exfoliate, massage and love your skin." Fragrance Notes: Top: Cinnamon Sticks, Sliced Ginger, Sweet Clove, Juicy Orange, Middle: Tuberose, Base: Whipped Vanilla, Cozy Musk. Perfect for travel, this heart-shaped body wash infused buffers cleanses, exfoliates and pampers the skin. Purchase Again? I have another one that is ready to open!

Spongellé Private Reserve Body Wash Infused Buffer in Blood Orange: (Was $16.00 from Spongellé): "These buffers with built-in body wash are infused with extracts of yuzu, edelweiss and vetiver root to cleanse, exfoliate, massage, and hydrate the skin for a spa-like pampering experience at home." Fragrance Notes: Top: Orange, Mandarin, Peach. Middle: Jasmine, Rose, Lychee. Base: Patchouli, Vetiver, Vanilla, Musk. This body buffer smells heavenly, and it is so refreshing. Purchase Again? It appears that they no longer have this Private Reserve scent, but if they bring out back I am going to buy several!

Spongellé Florica Candle in Mystic Rose ($45.00 for 8 oz. from Spongellé): is an ultra-luxe cruelty-free soy candle with a flickering wooden wick. Like to diffuser, the aroma is beautiful amalgam of Rose (top note), Water Lily (middle note) and Sweet Musk (base note), and the result is a complex floral that is neither too sweet, nor too musky. The substantial glass housing is beautiful, and it perfect to use for makeup brushes, eye pencils or pens after the candle has been used. The stunning gift box is truly noteworthy, and a true show-stopper. Purchase Again? I have had many of their candles, but this is definitely my very favorite. I will definitely splurge and buy another one!

Abhati Suisse Mahakali Nourishing Conditioner ($58.00 value from a Boxwalla box): This nourishing and hydrating conditioner weightlessly treats the hair and gives it a glossy shine without leaving behind any buildup or residue. Hair is left manageable, frizz-free and utterly gorgeous. It has a wonderful herbal aroma that lingers in the most pleasant, rather than cloying, way. Purchase Again? I would love to get this again, but I need to use up a lot of conditioners before purchasing another. I am still using their shampoo, and I absolutely love it!

René Furterer KARITÉ HYDRA Hydrating Day Cream ($36.00 for 3.3 oz. Karité Hydra Hydrating Day Cream from René Furturer): is one of my most reached-for hair hydrators. It is a leave-in that has a wonderful lightweight creamy-gel texture and a delectable light aroma. It is very emollient, and it offers sustained hydration throughout the day, but it does so without ever weighing down the hair. It fights frizz and fly-aways, makes hair more manageable, and it gives hair a lustrous shine. It is suitable for normal to dry hair, and it is a real gem for my naturally curly hair. I use the entire Karité Hydra Hydrating haircare collection, and I highly recommend it to anyone with hair in need of hydration. It is a game-changer for me, and it makes my curly hair manageable, frizz-free and decidedly glossy. Purchase Again? I will continue to buy this as long as they make it!

Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray ($46.00 for 8.5 oz. and $24.00 for 2.1 oz. from Oribe, Amazon, Sephora, Nordstrom and bluemercury): I haven't met an Orbit haircare product that I didn't love, and this is, without question, the nicest Beach Wave spray that I have tried. This one actually imparts moisture, offers a light hold and a lovely shine. It doesn't leave hair crunchy, flaky or stiff and it has that wonderful Oribe aroma! Purchase Again? Without question, it is well worth the splurge!

Curél Deep Moisture Spray ($15.00 for 5 oz. from the Curél Amazon Store): is an amazing find, and it is just perfect for the warmer weather! This ultra-fine moisture mist can be used on the face and body and it sinks in immediately leaving skin nourished and hydrated. It is fragrance-free, easy to use and effective. It is especially satisfying on a hot day to refresh the skin with a spritz here and there. Additionally, because it is so light and hydrating it doesn't feel heavy on the skin. It does not, however, contain a sunscreen, so you will need to add your sunscreen after you apply this spray. Purchase Again? I just opened another one!

MyKirei by KAO Yuzu Flower Foam Hand Soap ($18.00 for 8.5 oz. from MyKirei and their Amazon Store): is, without question, the most charming hand soap that I have tried. Each pump of this fetching hand soap produces a floral shaped dense and creamy foam that is soft and creamy to the touch. It thoroughly cleans the hands, without ever stripping, and in fact leaves them moisturized. The lovely Yuzu aroma is uplifting and refreshing, but it doesn't linger for long after rinsing. Everything about this beautiful hand soap is wondrous. Purchase Again? I plan to buy the refill, and will continue to use this bottle.

Erno Laszlo Phormula 3-9 Repair Balm ($280.00 for 1.7 fl.oz. from Erno Laszlo and Nordstrom): is a great product to use when you have irritated skin. If you have a break out, a sunburn, or red and irritated skin that requires something gentle, nourishing and healing, then this mighty balm really helps. It makes this a perfect choice post-peel and post-exfoliation for that very reason. I recently had a bad allergic reaction to a product that I was testing, and it left an irritated patch of skin on my face that was dry, red and peeling, and nothing seemed to help it heal.

Thankfully, I already had this balm, and while I had little hope that it would help, I decided to try it anyway. Much to my surprise the flaking, peeling, itching, redness and irritation went away after a couple of days of use. It is very concentrated, and only requires a tinytiny bit. It is very easy to overdo it and use far more balm than necessary, and therefore I start out with very little and add more as needed. Not only is it calming, but it is also incredibly hydrating and it leaves the skin very soft, smooth and supple. It is definitely a luxury product with a luxury price tag, but it is so concentrated that it will last a very long time. It contains no fragrance, Phthalates, Parabens, Sulfates, Mineral Oil, Urea, or colorants. Purchase Again? While I really loved this balm, I have far too many open balms, creams, serums and lotions to justify purchasing it again.
Overall Assessment: Well, there you have it. While I thought that I would use up more skincare products this month, I did finish up 10 products. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return to sender in May? Did you discover any amazing products or any much-hyped products that fell short of your expectations? Do tell!

Empties Galore for March 2024

Purchased & Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

I managed to use up 11 full-size products in March 2024, and I am quite pleased by this since I was traveling for work so much of the month! I enjoyed everything that I used, and I would happily use these products again. Here is what I finished in March 2024:
PurelifeBiotics Burst of Brilliance Luxury Shower Steamers in Tangerine, Orange and Tea Tree ($20.00-$30.00 from PurelifeBiotics and Macy's): is a delectable and pleasant way in which to enhance your shower experience. The lovely citrus aroma, with a touch of tea tree and menthol, is such a beautifully aromatic way in which to start or end the day. I absolutely love using these, they really take my shower to the next level. Purchase Again? Without question!

Spongellé For the Two of Us | Sugar Dahlia Heart Buffer ($14.00 from Spongellé): This delightful body buffer makes skin look and feel incredible, and the scent is heavenly. Fragrance Notes: Top: Citrus Nuances, Solar Accord; Middle: Midnight Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Freesia, Muguet, Neroli; Base: Musk. "Send a love letter with Spongelle’s For The Two Of Us Heart Buffer in Sugar Dahlia. Perfect for travel, these heart-shaped body wash infused buffers will cleanse, exfoliate, massage and love your skin." Purchase Again? I have another one waiting in the wings!

Spongellé Bulgarian Rose Body Lotion ($22.00 for 11 oz. from Spongellé): is a gorgeous emollient lotion that deeply nourishes and moisturizes the skin, and the aroma is an absolute delight to the senses. Purchase Again? YES! I haven't loved a lotion this much in a really long time!

MyKirei by Kao Paw Print Foam Hand Wash ($18.00 for 8.5 oz. from MyKirei and their Amazon Store): This paw print is something your kids are going to absolutely love, and it will make them want to wash their hands frequently! It has a fresh and uplifting citrus fragrance from the Yuzu fruit, and it is a dense and creamy foam that feels wonderful against the skin. Purchase Again? I just opened another one of their amazing hand soaps! They make handwashing fun for kids of all ages!

Ethique Luxurious Face Cleansing Trio Discovery Pack ($12.99 from Ethique and their Amazon Store): from the sustainable and cruelty-free New Zealand brand Ethique, features two gentle soap-free face cleansers and an exfoliating face scrub. All three products are gentle and non-stripping on the skin, and they leave it soft, smooth and supple. The Bliss Bar is unscented, the Deep Green Bar has a light orange aroma and the Gingersnap Face Scrub smells of ginger and spice. All three are a pleasure to use, and Ethique's sustainability practices makes this a brand worth supporting. Purchase Again? Eventually, yes, but I have a lot of facial cleansers to use up first.

Pai Skincare Sea Aster & Wild Oat Instant Calm Redness Serum ($79.00 for oz. from Credo Beauty, Dermstore and Bloomingdale's): This serum has the texture of a lovely light and emollient water-based lotion, and it is formulated to calm and soothe skin and to reduce redness and irritation. Furthermore, it nourishes and hydrates, pampers sensitive skin without any irritation and it leaves it comfortable, soft, supple and luminous. It has a very very light herbal aroma, but it is so faint that it isn't detectable on the skin. Purchase Again? I would definitely use this again, but I don't need another serum right now because I am swimming in them!

Erno Laszlo AHA Resurfacing Sleep Serum ($115.00 for 1 oz. from Nordstrom): I am a big fan of overnight exfoliators that do the work while you sleep. This sleep serum uses a mixture of Lactic, Glycolic and Citric acids to exfoliate dead skin cells, and reveal smooth, refreshed and luminous skin in the morning. One of the remarkable features about this serum is that it is actually quite gentle on the skin, and I haven't experienced visible peeling, redness or any irritation. It boasts an antioxidant-rich formula that includes ingredients such as Goji Berry and Plum Extracts that help to protect skin from free-radicals, and they also hydrate the skin. The serum, itself, is lightweight, non-greasy and fast absorbing, and it leaves behind no residue. After several weeks of use, I have noted that my skin is soft, smooth, supple and brightened. Fine lines are softened, skin is more luminous and it looks thoroughly refreshed. As with any exfoliating product, you need to make sure to be vigilant in your use of a high SPF sunscreen to protect your exfoliated skin. Purchase Again? I am giving it serious consideration because this is a very effective serum!
Archipelago Botanicals Jar Candle in Hope ($32.50 from Archipelago Botanicals): is the embodiment of Christmas! It is such a thing of beauty, and the blend of Holiday Pine, Bayberry and Clove smells like a Christmas tree and a warm and cozy home. The aroma is green and aromatic with a hint of spice, and the scent fills the room in the most glorious way. Housed in a keepsake glass jar, this ultra-luxe candle is a great gift idea for people on your holiday list, but you may also want one to use since it will fill your home with warmth and holiday spirit. Purchase Again? This was a holiday candle, and it is no longer available, but I have several of their candles and absolutely LOVE them!

Celestial Silk Sleep Mist with Lavender & Chamomile (Currently $7.99- $8.99 regularly $17.99 for 4 oz. from Celestial Silk and their Amazon Store): is a cruelty-free bed linen spray with a delectable lavender and chamomile aroma. It has a calming effect on the senses and the busy mind, and it is a bit like an aromatic lullaby. I mist it over my bedding and close my eyes and breathe deeply, and it is grounding, comforting and calming. It definitely helps me fall asleep faster, and gives me a pronounced sense of wellbeing. Purchase Again? Oh yes, this is so pleasant right before bedtime!
Bootleg Bath Hydrating Shampoo Bar ($16.95 for 2.2 oz. from Bootleg Bath and their Amazon Store): is such a delight to senses, and the grapefruit and bergamot aroma really lifts the spirits. This cruelty-free shampoo bar is formulated for dry hair in need of some hydration, and it works quite well. It forms a very creamy lather that releases its delectable citrus aroma, and it leaves hair soft, smooth, manageable and hydrated. Additionally, while it thoroughly cleans the hair, it neither leaves hair stripped, nor greasy. This eco-friendly soap is a winner, and it means fewer shampoo bottles end up in the recycle bin, or worse yet in the landfill. Purchase Again? I would definitely use this bar again, but I have far too many open bottles of shampoo waiting to be used, and I also have a few that I haven't even opened yet!
Lancôme Le Stylo Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner ($28.00 for 0.01 oz. fromLancôme and Neiman Marcus): in Bronze Riche, which has been reformulated, is a very long-wearing waterproof and transfer-proof formula that never tugs or pulls the skin, and it lasts all day on me without any smearing or fading. There is a smudger sponge on one end of the pencil that works beautifully in its ability to soften the line or enhance a smoky eye. I like to use it quickly because I have found that once the liner sets it really doesn't budge. The fine point offers precision foolproof application, and the creamy formula is very easy to work with. The gorgeous colors are exceedingly flattering, and can be built up to maximum opacity with a few passes. Purchase Again? Yes, this is a gorgeous eyeliner!
Overall Assessment: I hope that I can finish up a few more open products next month, but we will have to wait and see! What did you finish up, toss out, give away or return in March? Any spectacular products to report? Any complete duds?

November 2023 Empties Galore for the Face & Body

Purchased & Press Samples (Affiliate Links)

This month I managed to finish 12 products, and two of them were sample sizes. I liked everything that I used up, and thoroughly enjoyed them. I should note that while this pile of empties seems like a lot, in the spirit of transparency they were all quite used up, and I simply focused on finishing them before they spoiled. Here is what I finished up in the month of November:

Erno Laszlo Phelityl Night Cream ($146.00 for 1.7 oz. from Erno LaszloNordstrom and Amazon): is pH-balancing and formulated to repair, strengthen and hydrate your skin while you sleep. It is very thick, but miraculously lightweight, fast-absorbing and non-greasy. It quickly melts into the skin, leaves behind no residue whatsoever, and deeply moisturizes. When I wake up my skin is so soft, supple, moisturized and luminous. Additionally, it softens the appearance of fine lines and makes my skin look incredible. It can also be used during the day, but it contains no sunscreen, and therefore you need to use a separate sunscreen if you use this during the day. It has a very light and pleasant aroma that quickly dissipates, and it can be used for all types of skin. It is perfect for my normal/combination skin, but I think that people with dry skin might prefer a richer cream at night. Purchase Again? I will definitely purchase more at some point in the future, but for now I have far too many open jars of cream to use first.

Fleur & Bee Youth Fairy Retinol Moisturizer ($40.00 for 1.5 oz. from Fleur & Bee and Amazon): is a wonderfully effective and affordable cruelty-free brand. This rich and nourishing antioxidant cream, which is formulated for all types of skin, features 0.03% retinol to increase skin cell turnover and lighten hyperpigmentation, and plant stem cells to protect and rejuvenate the skin. To offset any of the drying and peeling effects, often associated with retinol-based skincare products, Evening Primrose was selected to moisturize and smooth the skin. Unlike many retinol-based skincare products, Youth Fairy is quite gentle, and I experienced no redness, irritation, itching or peeling. The thick and emollient cream melts into the skin immediately leaving it nourished and luminous. It does take up to 12 weeks to see the full effects of the retinol, but I noticed that my skin was brighter after just a couple of weeks. This cream is also gluten-free and it has no detectable aroma. If you are seeking a gentle retinol, then this is a really nice one to consider.

It should be noted that it is very important to use a high SPF sunscreen, and reapplying it frequently, when using retinol-based products since they remove dead skin cells and leave the skin more vulnerable to the elements. It is also very wise to have your doctor check your moles and any skin irregularities– including, but limited to hyperpigmentation– to make sure that you do not have pre-cancerous lesions or spots, or skin cancer. Since I am not a medical doctor, I would urge you to see your physician to discuss the safety of adding retinol to your routine, and to make sure that none of your skin irregularities need medical attention instead of a skincare product. My doctor is very accustomed to looking over the ingredients in products that I seek to use, and she always carefully checks my skin for anything that might be, or could become, problematic. Purchase Again? I have several open jars and tubes of retinol-based products to use first, but I would definitely use this again!

Vitabrid C¹² Wrinkle Cream is ($70.00 for 1.69 oz. from Vitabrid C¹²Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom) is a mid-weight rich cream that melts into the skin, and the Shea Butter delivers serious moisture. Stabilized Vitamin C helps to even skin tone and lighten hyperpigmentation, and the novel peptides help plump fine lines leaving the skin smoother looking in appearance. This ultra-luxe, and velvety-textured, cream is such a pleasure to use and it makes skin look and feel exquisite. While I do not have wrinkles, I do have some fine expression lines, and this cream has definitely softened their appearance. There is no fragrance, and therefore people who are sensitive to fragrant skincare products will not have any problems with this cream in that regard. Purchase Again? I think that I might have another jar stashed somewhere, and will definitely use it!

Annmarie Skin Care Anti-Aging Facial Oil ($118.00 for 30ml. from Annmarie Skin Care and their Official Amazing Store): is a seriously gorgeous luxury face oil. While this glorious face oil is formulated for dry and mature skin, it is one of the finest and most effective oils to have graced my normal to combination skin. This ultra-luxe antioxidant-rich facial oil, which is velvety-to-the-touch, is infused with herbs and a symphony of more than 13 nourishing oils. Ingredients such as chia, goji berry, and broccoli firm and tighten the skin, and therefore soften the appearance of fine lines. Deeply moisturizing, this beautiful oil is lightweight and it effortlessly melts into the skin. It is neither greasy, nor does it leave behind any residue. I prefer to apply it to moist and warm freshly washed skin, and it immediately leaves my skin soft, smooth, supple and luminous. It is quite concentrated, and therefore I find the a single pump offers plenty of oil to cover my face, neck and décolleté, but your use may vary. It has the most hypnotic herbal aroma, but is not long-lasting or overpowering. Purchase Again? I am using a full size bottle as we speak, and I love it!

Aesop Damascan Rose Facial Treatment ($85.00 for 0.8 oz. from Aesop, Nordstrom, Space NK, Bluemercury, Revolve and Saks Fifth Avenue): is undoubtedly a very deeply nourishing and moisturizing face oil that will do wonders for dry and/or distressed skin, but it has also done incredible things for my normal/combination skin as well. It is a very concentrated, vitamin infused treatment oil that serves as a potent remedy for skin that needs intense hydration, but is so gentle and nourishing that my skin happily drinks it up and is left soft, supple, glowing, balanced, and very moisturized. I only need a couple of drops that I warm between my hands before massaging it into my slightly damp and warm face, neck and décolleté. It sinks in immediately and effortlessly, and it has an intoxicatingly hypnotic warm earthy rose scent that simply delights the senses. It is neither too rich for my skin, nor has it caused me to break out in the least. It just makes my skin look and feel amazing. Purchase Again? I will definitely consider it once I have finished some of my many open face oils.

Goldfaden MD Fleuressence Native Botanical Cell Oil ($129.00 for 1 oz. from Goldfaden MDCredo BeautyBloomingdale's and Amazon): If you are looking to try a new-to-you luxury face oil that is lightweight, fast-absorbing and incredibly nourishing and hydrating, then Goldfaden MD Fleuressence Native Botanical Cell Oil is worthy of your consideration. This delicate and delectable golden elixir boasts a light floral aroma that is an utter delight to the senses. This silky smooth ultra-luxe oil melts into the skin immediately moisturizing the skin and leaving it soft, smooth, supple and luminous. It boasts a thoroughly non-greasy texture that makes it the perfect candidate to be added to your daily moisturizer for added hydration, and it can be added to your favorite foundation for added luminosity. Furthermore, the antioxidant-rich formula, which is rich in Omega fatty acids, helps protect the skin against free-radical damage. After repeated use for about 5 weeks, I noted that the appearance of my fine lines were softened and my overall skin tone appeared more even and brightened. Purchase Again? DEFINITELY!

Fleur & Bee Just Dew It Hydrating Serum ($34.00 for 1 oz. from Fleur & Bee and the Fleur & Bee Amazon Store): This Hyaluronic Acid serum includes 14 nourishing actives that pamper and hydrate the skin with extraordinary efficacy. It is a lightweight and yet rich gel that leaves skin soft, smooth, hydrated and with a dewy glow. It is fast absorbing, it has a wonderful slightly floral aroma, and it softens the appearance of fine lines. This cruelty-free and vegan serum is as much a treat to the senses as it is to the skin, and it is remarkably affordable for such a luxurious serum. It is formulated for all skin types, and it is perfect all year long. Purchase Again? Definitely!

Elina Organics Vitamin C Elixir ($63.00 for 2 oz. from Elina Organics and their official Amazon Store): is a nourishing serum that contains Vitamin C, Rose Hips, Almond Oil, Green Tea and Sea Buckthorn to nourish and even skin complexions. This serum, which has the consistency and appearance of a lightweight moisturizer, melts into the skin and offers it immediate nourishment and hydration. If you have normal to combination skin, like me, then you can actually use this gem as your daily moisturizer, and if you have dry skin, then you will want to use it as a serum underneath your moisturizer. It also brightens the complexion, it fades hyperpigmentation and scars over time, and it soothes irritated skin. My skin is left soft, smooth, supple, brightened and with a pronounced clarity. It has a light herbal aroma, informed by its ingredients, not added fragrance, but it dissipates altogether once it is absorbed by the skin. Purchase Again? I just opened up a different Vitamin C serum, but I would love to get this one again in the future.

Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar ($44.00 for 3.4 oz. from Erno LaszloNordstrom and Look Fantastic): Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar does an exceptional job cleaning and exfoliating my skin, and it does so without drying, stripping or irritating. Skin is left soft, clear and luminous, and while it is now said to be formulated for all skin types, it used to be for normal, combination and oily skin types. I would say that dryer skin types would only use it periodically for its deep cleaning and exfoliating abilities, but not as a daily soap. I do like to use it with a cleansing oil, but sometimes I use it alone. My one grievance is that the bar used to be a hefty 6 oz., which was far more satisfying to use, and now it is nearly half the size. Purchase Again? Absolutely!
Spongellé Body Wash Infused Buffers ($12.00-$20.00 each from Spongellé): This particular buffer was limited edition from a while ago, but you really can't go wrong with any of their buffers. These sponges not only effectively remove dead skin cells, but they also leave the skin deliciously baby soft, smooth, supple and moisturized. Body wash infused body buffers are such a treat to use, and they really excel in their ability to clean and exfoliate the skin while delighting the senses with their delightful aromas. You simply dampen the body buffer with water to activate the lather to effortlessly clean and exfoliate the skin. Each sponge is filled with enough body wash for a minimum of 14 washes, and once you have used up all of the body wash, the sponge itself is still quite intact, and therefore all you need to do is use it in conjunction with your favorite liquid or bar soaps. The hanging ribbon allows the buffer to dry out easily, but I recommend hanging it outside of the moist environment of the shower to avoid bacterial growth. Purchase Again? I just opened up a new one!
Spongellé Botanica Candle in Tobacco Flower ($35.00 for 8 oz. from Spongellé): This is amazing candle has a rather hard to describe scent profile. The bottom notes, cedarwood and sandalwood, account for the tobacco flower sensibility, but it is mellowed by the top and middle notes to create a brilliantly conceived amalgam of these carefully selected aromas. If this were a perfume, it would be described as decidedly unisex in its composition and conception. Fragrance NotesTop: Bergamot, Green Fig. Middle: Rosemary, Juniper, Sheer Lavender. Bottom: Cedarwood, Sandalwood. Purchase Again? I just start burning another one of their delectable candles!

Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'n' Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Velvet Violet ($29.00 for 10g. from Charlotte TilburySephoraNordstromBloomingdale'sBeautylishSelfridgesCult Beauty and John Lewis): This wonderful formula is so creamy to the touch and easy to blend, and it glides across the skin without any tugging or pulling, and it deposits color evenly and effortlessly. It allows you to create a very clean crisp line, but gives you enough time before setting to make a smoky smudged line as well. Once it does set, it is completely budge-proof, and lasts on me all day long, and without a primer. I do not experience any transfer, smudging or fading, but I do not have very oily eyelids, and your wear-time may vary if you do. Purchase Again? I just opened another one!

Overall Assessment: I hope that I can do this well in December! What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in November? Any excellent or mediocre products to report?
