Crate & Barrel Kitchen Finds on Sale Including Emile Henry, Microplane & Bormioli Rocco

Purchased (Affiliate Links)

When I saw that Crate & Barrel was having a sale on their exclusive bakeware from Emile Henry, I was thrilled. I have slowly been collecting Emile Henry for years, and the quality of their bakeware, made from Burgundian clay, is nothing less than superb. Made in France, these heirloom quality pieces can be handed down from generation to generation. The pieces that I purchased can be purchased separately or as a set. I opted to purchase the Emile Henry x Crate & Barrel 4-Piece Bakeware Set in Black ($194.96. Regularly $240.00) though there is no additional savings, because I wanted it shipped in one box, rather than four. Below are the individual pieces in the set. These beautiful pieces are available in black, white and green, but the only pieces on sale are black. These pieces make perfect gifts for people who love to cook and bake, but they are also a wonderful indulgence for yourself.

About Emile Henry,

Founded in 1850 in France, Emile Henry ceramics embrace modern technology to deliver products that can withstand high oven cooking temperatures, absorbing, distributing and retaining heat evenly.

Each of these pieces are:

  • High-fired and glazed Burgundy clay
  • Functional handles
  • Chip-, crack- and shock-resistant
  • Surface can be cut on
  • Easy-to-clean
  • Oven- and broiler-safe to 500°F
  • Dishwasher-, freezer- and microwave-safe
  • Made in France

Emile Henry x Crate & Barrel 9"x9" Black Ceramic Baking Dish ($44.99 regularly $55.00): This is a very versatile dish that can be used to cook and bake so many things. It can also be used to make a lasagna for a small family.

According to Crate & Barrel,

This square baker's clean, rounded corners and minimalist—yet functional—handles go from oven to table for serving mac and cheese, dinner rolls and fruit cobblers. Crafted of Burgundy clay renowned for its superior heat retention, the baking dish is finished inside and out with an exclusive matte black glaze that resists chipping, cracking and thermal shock.

Emile Henry x Crate & Barrel 9"x13" Green Ceramic Baking Dish ($64.99 regularly $80.00): While this is the perfect lasagna and casserole dish, it is also a wonderful choice for roasted vegetables, baking chicken and fish, and just about anything else you can imagine.

According to Crate & Barrel,

This rectangular baker's clean, rounded corners and minimalist—yet functional—handles go from oven to table for serving breakfast casseroles, lasagna and bar cookies. Crafted of Burgundy clay renowned for its superior heat retention, the baking dish is finished inside and out with an exclusive matte black glaze that resists chipping, cracking and thermal shock.

Emile Henry x Crate & Barrel Black Ceramic Pie Dish ($44.99 regularly $55.00): This is yet another very versatile dish that can be used for so much more than baking pie. I will use this for a variety of potato dishes and other small serving single pot meals, but also for the occasional pie or cobbler.

According to Crate & Barrel,

This pie pan's clean geometry and minimalist—yet functional—handles go from oven to table for serving pot pie, cornbread and blackberry pie. Crafted of Burgundy clay renowned for its superior heat retention, the baking dish is finished inside and out with an exclusive matte black glaze that resists chipping, cracking and thermal shock.

Emile Henry x Crate & Barrel Black Ceramic Loaf Pan ($39.99 regularly $50.00): This is the piece that I initially wanted, but the more the I thought about it, the more I realized that I would regret not buying the whole set. I have ceramic, metal and pyrex loaf pans, and I prefer baking with ceramic. What I lacked was a ceramic loaf pan that boasts the quality of Emile Henry, and therefore this was the logical choice. I am actually contemplating buying one more since I like to bake multiples.

According to Crate & Barrel,

This loaf pan's clean, rounded corners and minimalist—yet functional—handles go from oven to table for serving quick breads, lasagna and loaf cakes. Crafted of Burgundy clay renowned for its superior heat retention, the pan is finished inside and out with an exclusive matte black glaze that resists chipping, cracking and thermal shock.

Each of the dishes from this collection have graciously curved lines and very practical handles for ease of use and comfort.

Stainless Steel Microplane Zester by Molly Baz ($9.97 regularly $17.95): Microplane makes very high quality testers, and this is the second one that I have owned. However, our original zester went missing, and we have repeatedly searched high and low for it, and have absolutely no idea where it went. Therefore, when I found this zester on clearance I immediately added it to my cart. If you are in the market for a zester, this one is excellent, but be advised that it is on clearance and cannot be returned or exchanged. I am considering purchasing a second one since the price is so affordable. I use mine to zest citrus and hard cheeses, but as noted below one can also use it to grate chocolate, garlic and nutmeg. This is very sharp, therefore you should use it carefully to avoid grating fingers!

According to Crate & Barrel,

Molly Baz brings her signature style to the Microplane zester with a bright blue handle. This handy tool not only zests citrus fruits, it also grates chocolate, garlic, nutmeg, Parmesan cheese and a host of other ingredients. Partner the blue-handled zester with other colorful utensils in Molly's cooking collection for a coordinated kitchen. We've partnered with cookbook author and food celeb Molly Baz for a new kitchen and home collection full of cool curves, bold color and cleverly considered details that say casual, unfussy and fun.
Stainless Steel Fish Spatula by Molly Baz ($4.97 regularly $14.95): What a find this is, and at such a dramatic savings. This very thin spatula makes it so easy to turn and plate delicate fish filets. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a versatile spatula that can effectively and carefully move, adjust, lift or turn delicate dishes. Like the Microplane, this is on clearance and can't be returned or exchanged, therefore make sure that you really want it before making the purchase.

According to Crate & Barrel,

Inspired by simple geometry and modern design, this fish spatula charms with natural wood and a pop of bright color. The flexible stainless steel head is genius at getting under and moving delicate fish, and generous slots drain off oil and grease. Capped with a bit of bright blue at the base, the solid wood handle provides a good grasp.
I have been collecting Bormioli Rocco Fido Jars for many years, and use them to store dry goods in my pantry. I have a variety of sizes and always purchase more when I find them on sale. While Crate & Barrel isn't offering a deep discount, their sale made this a better deal than everywhere else I looked.

Features:
  • Clear glass with metal clamps
  • Vulcanized rubber 2.75" gaskets
  • Dishwasher-safe
  • Made in Italy
Fido 1-Liter Jar with Clamp Lid ($7.99 regularly $9.95): This jar measures 4"Wx4"Dx6.25"H and is perfect for storing things like nuts and grains. I keep things like almonds, walnuts, pine nuts and loose teas in this size. It is airtight and keeps everything fresh for longer than their original packaging.
Fido 2-Liter Jar with Clamp Lid ($11.99 regularly $13.95): This jar measures 4.75"Wx4.75"Dx8.5"H and it is perfect for my ground or whole bean coffee, specialty flours, oatmeal and so many other things in my pantry.
Fido 5-Liter Jar with Clamp Lid ($14.99 regularly &17.95): This jar measures 6.75" dia. x 11"H, and it is so large that it easily stores a whole bag of flour. I purchased two of them so that I could store flour in one and sugar in the other. Between feeding the hummingbirds and baking, I needed a large jar for sugar.
Overall Assessment: I am so happy with my purchases, and highly recommend checking out Crate & Barrel's current sales since there are some excellent deals just in time for holiday cooking and gift-giving!

  1. Excellent purchases! I have some of the Bormioli jars, and I use a tall thin one for my sourdough starter. I love it! The Emile Henry baking set is very handsome. I have some of the pie dishes. Although I have one already, I think I may pick up the fish spatula because mine lacks the curve that makes it easier to pick up the item. Thank you for letting me know about the sale and for your description of your items

    1. Thank you, Allison! I just couldn't resist! I am not at all surprised that you have Emile Henry bakeware and Bormioli jars! At this pace, the fish spatula is definitely worth getting. It is thin enough to get under the fish without damaging even very delicate filets. Keep an eye on their clearance section, they have some outstanding deals for holiday shopping, or shopping for yourself!
