Elemis Spa at Home Frangipani Monoi Body Oil Review

Elemis Spa At Home Frangipani Monoi Body Oil (Formerly known as Elemis Exotic Frangipani Monoi Moisture Melt) is one of the most delightful body oils that I have tried in a very long time. Not only is it richly moisturizing and delectably and intoxicatingly aromatic, but it leaves skin indescribably soft, supple and smooth. The delicate scent of the Frangipani flower infused Coconut Oil transports the senses and evokes exotic tropical locales. The heavy concentration of Coconut Oil causes this lovely body oil to solidify at cooler temperatures, but this is immediately remedied by soaking the bottle in warm water. This feature makes this a great spill-proof travel companion when temperatures plunge, but the small opening in the bottle likewise prevents spillage when the temperatures soar.

Not only is this oil great for the whole body, but it is also a fantastic deep hair conditioner and a daily cuticle treatment. I love using it from head to toe, and have to say that I really love using it as a hand and cuticle treatment. It sinks in quickly and makes the skin feel and smell so great that I find myself reaching for it all of the time. It is also very concentrated-- so a little goes a long long way.

According to Elemis,

This truly exotic body oil is quickly absorbed to provide superior moisturization for dry, parched or mature skin. Monoi Oil is traditionally produced in harmony with nature on the beautiful coral shores of the Polynesian Islands by soaking Frangipani flowers in Coconut Oil.

The product solidifies at cooler temperatures. Place the bottle in a bowl of warm water to return it to a silky liquid. After bathing, apply oil to damp skin, massaging over the entire body. Concentrate on hands and feet for an intensive moisturizing manicure or pedicure. For a weekly treat, massage a small amount into hair. Cover with a warm towel and relax for 15 minutes, shampoo and rinse.

  1. Hi, I love reading your blog, but has the print size changed or am I suddenly just old?! I feel like it's harder to read than it used to be. Is it just me?

    1. Hi Cynthia,

That's super strange!! I am using the same size and font that I have been using for a while. I think if I bump it up to the next font size it will be too big. I tried a small adjustment on the font itself-- does it look better now? If you are on a MAC you can adjust the size of the whole screen pretty easily to make the fonts appear bigger. :-)

  3. Your review begs the question: What is in it that makes it inappropriate for use during pregnancy. That's a little red flag for me. And I love Elemis products.

    1. This point certainly wasn't lost on me either, Cindy! I suspect that it is based upon the allergies and immunotoxicity associated with the chemicals associated with the fragrance. I ran the Amyl Cinnamal through the EWG Skin Deep Database and it received a 7, and it is a synthetically produced scent ingredient that has been associated with allergies and contact dermatitis. I didn't check each of the ingredients out, but I suspect that the high score is because of this reason. These don't seem to be particularly unusual ingredients for body products, but it's interesting that Elemis published the warning. My guess is that the EU may have other laws governing their disclosures, and Elemis is an English company.
