I realize that what I am about to say will fall on deaf ears because many of you live in regions where there are actual seasons, unlike those of us who live in Southern California where it is comparatively season-less. So laugh at me if you must, but it's starting to get colder in Los Angeles. There, I said it. When it gets colder my lips really do take a beating- so I tend to generously apply lip balm to keep my lips in shape- rather than letting them look and feel like the Sahara. Lately I seem to be carrying an inordinate amount of lip products in my makeup bag, of which there are currently five lip balms.
Here's my justification for carrying this many lip treatment products:
1) Maybelline Baby Lips Pink Punch Lip Balm (25): It is very inexpensive, it makes your lips a very pretty pink, it's moisturizing, and it tastes good (though the taste and smell quickly fade).
2) Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine: I'm not entirely sure why I still haven't reviewed this yet, but it is definitely one of my favorite lip balms of all time. It feels buttery smooth, emollient, moisturizing, and comfortable on the lips. It also has the wonderful distinction of giving your lips a lovely light pink pout.
3) Bonne Bell Lip Smacker in Strawberry (reviewed here): Okay, this one is definitely nostalgic since I used it back in high school. However, it really does moisturize the lips, and tastes good too! It also give just enough shine to be detectable and pretty.
4) Reviva Labs Vitamin E Stick: This is an amazing product that nourishes and protects the delicate area around the eyes as well as the lips. It also contains an SPF 15- therefore it offers awesome protection all by itself, or on top of your other lip products.
5) Rodin Olio Lusso Lip Balm (reviewed here): Hands down the most amazing and moisturizing lip balm that I have used to date! I carry it with me everywhere that I go, and will unquestionably repurchase it. It is definitely my Holy Grail lip balm! I have tried to think of the downside, but there isn't one!

I recently just entered the world of makeup lol, and I like post like this because it gives me a variety to choose from. I'm in love with Baby Lips, but I want to try out that Vitamin E stick since it is inexpensive.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Thanks, Britany!! I love the Baby Lips too-- it's awesome! I think that I will have to pick up a few more flavors! The Vitamin E Stick is awesome- I think that you will like it. I haven't met a Reviva Labs product that I didn't love! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI couldn't pick 5 favorites but if I did the Reviva Labs would definitely be on my list. I have a tarte lip exfoliator that's more balm like than exfoliator like that I'd put on my list. I used to have some Crazy Rumor ones that I liked (finished up) and I have one from Elizabeth Grant that's very unusual and great. Is that 5?
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice list, Marcia!! I must try the ones from your list. The Reviva Labs Vitamin E Stick is truly amazing!!
DeleteI love the Rodin lip balm but wish the scent lingered x
ReplyDeleteI love it too, and agree with you-- I wish that the scent lingered as well. It really is DIVINE!!! Thanks for stopping by! xx
DeleteYay, fun! I love lip balm! You have some great picks too--I still really need to try the Rodin one. Ugh...so chic and pretty! I recently picked up the Pink Punch Baby Lips but decided I don't like it half as much as the clear one in the blue tube. That one feels more moisturizing, in my opinion--more balmy and less waxy. Also it contains SPF and the pink one doesn't. I would also have to add Jack Black's famous balm to my list (LOVE that stuff!) and good old Aquaphor in a tube (always handy and works a charm). :)
ReplyDeleteHi Becca!!! You will flip once you try the Rodin Olio Lusso Lip Balm-- SERIOUSLY!! I will have to grab the Baby Lips in the blue tube next time!! Jack Black Lip Balm is one of my very favorite balms-- I almost always a tube of the Mint one in my purse, but for some reason keep forgetting it in my desk drawer!! I will have to pick up a second one!! I don't know why I don't have Aquaphor in the tube-- I have one of the HUGE jars, and often transfer some into a small jar and carry it in my purse, but again-- it's nowhere in my makeup bag!!
DeleteI'm definitely a lip balm fan all year round - yes we do have seasons down here in Melbourne - and I always apply a lip balm before I go to sleep. I've tried the expensive versions but honestly it's the inexpensive ones I love the best - currently I use Lucas Papaw Ointment or (don't laugh will you) Vanilla Coke Lip Smacker!
ReplyDeleteMe too!! I have never heard of Lucas Papaw Ointment-- is that an Australian brand? Vanilla Coke Lip Smacker-- you are a woman after my own heart, Vita!!! Often the ones really are the best on the market. Though I will say that Olio Lusso is UNBELIEVABLE!! IT's definitely my biggest lip balm splurge! <3
DeleteLucas Papaw Ointment is an Australian product - made from fermented papaws! Sounds gross but it's really lovely and only very faintly fruit scented. It's a bit of a cult product actually. Google it and you'll see!
DeleteHi Vita, It actually doesn't sound gross- it sounds intriguing!! I am definitely going to Google it! Thanks!! <3
DeleteGreat review! You have shown us great lip balms here. If I were to pick the one I would like to try out, it would be the Reviva Labs Vit E stick. I am impressed with it because it has SPF and keeps the lips moisturized for long hours.
ReplyDeleteHi Emie, Thanks!! THe Reviva Labs Vitamin E Stick is definitely worth having for all of the reasons that you mentioned!! I love it!!!
