I am often asked what my current favorite natural deodorants might be, and truthfully I have been using the same brands for quite a while. While I have been maintaining the stay-at-home mandate, and observing strict social distancing protocols, I still wear my favorite deodorants on a daily basis. Here are the deodorants that are tried and true for me.
LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant ($14.00 for 1.7 oz. from LAVANILA, Ulta, and Thrive Market): Though I have occasionally used mainstream deodorants, I do prefer to avoid the chemicals. LAVANILA makes wonderful healthy deodorants that are effective and smell wonderful (though they also make an unscented variant for sensitive skin). Their Vanilla Grapefruit scent is probably my favorite because it smells utterly scrumptious, and offers long-lasting protection.

If you want to switch to a healthy deodorant that is vegan, cruelty-free and affordable, then CRYSTAL has two recent additions scents to their CRYSTAL Mineral-Enriched Deodorantcollection($6.15 each from www.thecrystal.com): Mountain Fresh and Freshly Minted are unisex scents that can be used by the whole family for effective all-day odor protection, but these are not antiperspirants and therefore they will not prevent sweating. I find this formula particularly effective, fuss-free and pleasant to use, and of course the list of healthy ingredients instills confidence rather than concern.

It is sweet, but not too sweet, and it isn't imposing. It is filled with healthy plant and mineral-based ingredients, and it's vegan and cruelty-free.
I have sensitive underarm skin, and have often found many chemical-laden and natural deodorants alike irritate my skin and can cause redness, but this does not. It applies with ease, doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy, and doesn't stain my clothing. It is not an antiperspirant, and therefore it will not prevent you from sweating, but it does quell unwelcome odors. I apply it in the morning, and it lasts all day long without incident, but your experience may vary given the difference between my body chemistry and yours. For me this was a great purchase, and I am very happy with the results.

Vermont Soap Lemongrass Zen Organic Deodorant ($12.00 for 3.25 oz. from Vermont Soap): I always had a fear of using so many chemical compounds in such a sensitive area, and notwithstanding a few occasions in my adult life, I have exclusively used healthier deodorants. Not all are created equal, and some seem to promote, rather than eradicate odor, but Vermont Soap Lemongrass Zen Deodorant is both effective and gentle on sensitive skin. If you love the scent of Lemongrass, then you will be enchanted by this deodorant. I find that it gives me fantastic odor control without irritating my sensitive underarm skin.

Overall Assessment: If you have been reluctant to try healthy deodorants for fear of learning that they aren't effective, then this time of social distancing is the perfect time to test them out. These natural deodorants have proven to be very effective for me personally, and I haven enough confidence in their efficacy that I don't own any mainstream chemical-laden deodorants.
As you have noticed, this last week Lola's Secret Beauty Blog focussed on top pick face masks. This idea came to me because I noticed that I was pampering myself with regular facial masks since I am working from home, and therefore I have the time to do it. Additionally, slowing down to take care of myself has a calming effect during the stress of living in the time of a global pandemic, and all of the worry that such a crisis engenders, and therefore it is a worthwhile way to slow down and calm down. Therefore, I sought to review a different facial mask each day of the week, and for this feature I added a few favorites that I love and use all of the time.
African Botanics Le Masque Hydralift Intense (Full Review HERE): is a true revelation in face masks. It is formulated to lift, plump, soften the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles, maintain moisture levels, prevent Trans-Epidermal Water Loss, and scavenge free-radicals. Furthermore, it leaves skin baby soft, supple, unbelievably smooth, and with a pronounced radiance and clarity seldom achieved in a single product. It can be used as a rinse off mask with great results, but if you really want to see what it is capable of, then use it as an overnight sleeping mask. Trust me, you won't ever want to use another sleeping mask again!
This nourishing gel-like serum is emollient and lightweight, with a glorious velvety texture, and it melts into the skin in the most luxurious way imaginable. This is eco-luxe, and cruelty-free, beauty at its finest, and African Botanics is the gold standard against which all other green beauty brands should be measured. Additionally, it has the most sumptuous aroma informed by the Rosa Centifolia– therefore if you love the smell of roses you will be utterly enchanted by this aromatic delight.
TRIBEAUTY CBD Superfood Mask (Full Review HERE): is a white clay-based CBD mask that contains superfood ingredients such as spinach and kale extracts. It is formulated to exfoliate, hydrate, brighten, plump, brighten, calm, oxygenate and protect the skin. This multipurpose, and ultra-effective mask contains zero or less than 0.3% THC*, and therefore there are no psychoactive effects. The company notes that there may be a mild tingling effect from this mask, but my skin didn't tingle, but instead I experienced a refreshing cooling effect. I apply this mask with the silicone spatula shown, and then leave it on for about 15 minutes and then rinse off with warm water. Once I pat my skin dry my skin is luminous, hydrated, rejuvenated, fresh, calm and my fine lines are lightly plumped. I should note that the mask has a light and fresh fruity floral aroma, but it is neither imposing, nor long-lasting.

Fleur & Bee Prince Charcoal Detox Mask (Full Review HERE): is a wonderfully effective clay-based detox mask. However, unlike many clay masks that are inherently drying to the skin, this one is not! While it effectively draws out impurities and unclogs congested pores, Aloe Vera locks in moisture and lightly hydrates, and it prevents the Kaolin and Bentonite Clays from drying out the skin. Additionally, skin is lightly plumped and left silky smooth and luminous. Furthermore, once the mask does dry, it neither pulls on the skin, nor is it difficult to move. I like to apply it to freshly cleaned skin, let it dry down for anywhere between 10-15 minutes and then rinse it off in the shower.
While this is a wonderful choice for my normal/combination skin, I think that people with dry skin will also see the benefit of using this mask, albeit with less frequency than someone with oilier skin.
($18.00 for 2 oz. from Fleur & Bee) Glamglow Flashmud Brightening Treatment Mask (Full Review HERE): is a brightening and exfoliating clay-based face mask that includes gentle exfoliating particles to effectively sweep away dead skin cells and unclog congested pores. Simply apply it to clean dry skin, but you can also apply it to slightly damp skin, and gently massage it in a circular motion and then let it dry down. I leave it on my skin for 20-25 minutes, and once it dries I rinse it with warm water. The end result is soft, clean, clear, balanced, supple and luminous skin. This mask has a light fruity floral aroma, but it isn't imposing or long-lasting.
My most recent brand revelation is the Elina Organics Sahara Soufflé Hydrating Face Mask with Camel Milk (Full Review HERE): and I am so excited to share my findings with you! This creamy mask includes natural alpha hydroxy, from Camel Milk, among its ingredients, and it gently exfoliates dead skin cells without discomfort or burning, and over time it helps to fade hyperpigmentation. It nourishes and hydrates the skin, and gives it a luminous glow. Furthermore, skin appears more smooth and even in tone after using this wonderful mask for a short period of time.
Cosmedix Glow Bamboo Brightening Mask (Full Review HERE): is an effective multi-purpose exfoliating mask that is filled with physical exfoliating particles that actively and gently exfoliate dead skin cells. After gently massaging the mask into the skin, using circular motions, you leave it on for another 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. The Vitamin C and Bamboo Stem extracts brighten the complexion, and skin appears soft, smooth and luminous. This mask has a very appealing light citrus aroma, but it is neither long-lasting, nor is it in the least bit imposing.
Vichy Liftactiv Hyalu Mask (Full Review HERE): is an ultra effective Hyaluronic Acid-based hydrating mask that is a perfect pick for dehydrated, stressed and dry skin. This is every French Pharmacy fanatics dream-come-true hydrator, and its refreshing water-gel texture feels cooling and amazing against the skin. It plumps fine lines, deeply hydrates and leaves skin soft, smooth and supple. It is formulated for all types of skin, and it is paraben-free, oil-free and fragrance-free.
Bodyography Hydrating Mask (Full Review HERE): is an antioxidant-rich hydrating mask that deeply moisturizes and nourishes the skin. It is a perfect choice for dehydrated, stressed or dry skin, but is a wonderfully nourishing skin pick-me-up for all types of skin. It lightly plumps fine lines and leaves skin soft, smooth, and dewy. This delectable mask smells like watermelon and has a thick, silky-smooth consistency that feels amazing on the skin.
TATA HARPER Resurfacing Mask (Full Review HERE): This is one of those miraculous masks, in my estimation, that delivers real results for glowing skin. While you will note that it contains clay in its list of ingredients, it is not a clay mask, but instead it has a gorgeous fluffy gel texture that dries down in the manner of gel-type masks. It is a beta-hydroxy mask, from White Willow Bark and Pomegranate Enzymes, that is intended for all types of skin, and it gently exfoliates dead skin cells, unclogs congested pores, and it leaves skin luminous and hydrated.
I simply apply it to freshly cleansed skin, with the brush provided, and leave it on my skin for 20-30 minutes. There is a light tingling sensation, but it is neither uncomfortable, nor in the least bit irritating. It dries down, but doesn't pull the skin, and it is very easy to wash off unlike some masks that can be difficult to remove. Among my great discoveries was Tata Harper's tip to layer this mask over the the TATA HARPER Regenerating Cleanser (Reviewed HERE) and leave on for 5 minutes for a mid-week skincare treat. Because the Regenerating contains exfoliating particles it further enhances the removal of dead skin cells and the unclogging of pores. However, unlike many exfoliating masks, that are intended for healthy glowing skin, this one is not drying to the skin. Instead, the inclusion of Beet Root Extract and Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice leaves skin hydrated rather than taut and dry. The end result is very soft, smooth, hydrated and luminous skin, and it is one of my very favorite gentle exfoliating masks. I should note that the mask, and the cleanser, both have an earthy, rather fruity, aroma that is subtle and unobtrusive.
The high quality brush, with synthetic bristles, offers a far superior method of application than dipping my fingers into the jar. Not only is it far more sanitary, but it also applies the mask more evenly.
Goldfaden MD Facial Detox Clarify + Clear Mask (Full Review HERE): is a very effective face mask that clears blemishes, draws out impurities, soothes and calms the skin and leaves skin looking radiant, soft and smooth. Simply apply a thin layer to the entire face, avoiding the eye area, or use a a spot treatment on blemishes. Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes and then thoroughly rinse the skin. The combination of Camphor and Sulfur cause the skin to tingle, but I neither find it uncomfortable nor irritating, and it does not leave my skin taut or dry. If you have very sensitive skin you might want to patch test it first, but if you have a sensitivity to Camphor– or any of the other ingredients– then this mask should be avoided.
Overall Assessment: I plan to continue masking every week because it is not only a treat for my skin, but for my spirit as well. What have you been doing to pamper and take care of yourself during this stressful time?

It feels luxurious on the skin, and it neither leaves behind a greasy film, nor a white residue. While MyChelle describes its finish as matte, I would add that it has a very natural finish, and no discernible scent.

I decided to focus primarily on the luxury skincare products that I get over and over again. However, in the midst of my selection I decided to add two lip products that I have repeatedly purchased that were worthy of mention.
The Organic Pharmacy has had pride of place at the top of my list of the most extraordinary natural skincare lines that I have ever used. The Organic Pharmacy Rose Plus Brightening Complex ($198.00 for 1.1 oz. / 35 ml. from Barneys New York, Selfridges (£97.00) and The Organic Pharmacy): This is an utterly superb serum, and this is a point that I simply cannot sufficiently underscore. It has a very light texture that sinks in immediately leaving behind no greasy film or residue. Since it has a lightweight fast absorbing texture I apply it directly after washing my face to warm slightly damp skin. I immediately follow with one of my favorite beauty oils, but I must say that it pairs exquisitely with The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Face Firming Serum (discussed below). It is an antioxidant rich anti-aging serum brightens and smooths the complexion, and it improves the texture of the skin. Furthermore, it hydrates the skin while it lifts and plumps the appearance of fine lines while offering the skin extraordinary luminosity.
This enzyme packed serum gently exfoliates dead skin cells revealing a significantly brightened complexion, and it not only evens out skin tone, but it also fades sun spots and hyperpigmentation. Additionally, the Nanka Fruit extract and Glucosamine fade existing sun spots while helping to reduce the formation of new sun spots. However, this does not contain a sunscreen, and most certainly should be used in conjunction with a sunscreen during the day. This brilliant concoction boasts a high concentration of the powerful Alpha Lipoic Acid, a known powerful antioxidant, that helps to prevent cell damage by scavenging free-radicals. The high concentration of Rose Hip Oil is rich in transretinoic acid and essential fatty acids, and is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and also helps to reduce scarring over time. Sweet orange helps prevent capillary fragility, and carrots are rich in Beta Carotene (part of the Vitamin A family), and are rich antioxidants that protects the skin against free-radicals. lemon (Citrus Limonum) lifts, tones and exfoliates the skin, and does so in an immediately visible way. This is also to say nothing of the fact that my skin is left soft, supple, and deeply moisturized and hydrated.

I simply apply a few drops to my freshly washed skin, that is still warm and slightly damp, and gently press in and release the oil into my face, neck and décolletage, as recommended. Skin is immediately left with a gorgeous, pronounced luminosity and an ethereal glow. As previously noted, African Botanics Fleurs d’Afrique Intensive Recovery Oil sinks in immediately, but it neither leaves behind a greasy film, nor does it require a long wait before finishing up the skincare routine or applying makeup.
My skin is notably different in that the overall texture is more even in tone and the small areas of light hyperpigmentation have noticeably faded. My fine lines are softened and my skin appears more taut and lifted. Furthermore, it effectively encourages skin cell-turnover to eliminate dull and dry dead skin cells in order to reveal luminous fresh skin.
This oil balances skin, and has regulated my active T-Zone while simultaneously fighting redness and inflammation during my monthly hormonal cycle. There is something magical about Neroli Infused Marula Oil from the feather light texture to the sweet and understated smell of the Neroli. It is a thin and potent oil that immediately sinks in and gets right to work. However, the texture is silky smooth and ultra refined without any of the granular particles typically found in many Shea Butter based products. This lovely eye cream is healing, hydrating and restorative– leaving the delicate eye area looking refreshed, hydrated, lifted and youthful. If you are obsessed with luxury beauty oils, as am I, then you owe it to yourself to try this one.
I apply TATCHA GOLD Camellia Beauty Oil to slightly damp freshly washed skin after warming it in my hands, and then I massage it into my face, neck and décolleté rubbing any remaining oil into my hair. Periodically, while testing out new products, my skin becomes irritated and reactive, and one of the hallmarks of this type of skin eruption is the appearance of product related dermatitis. When this occurs I develop unsightly (at least to me) small patches of dry skin that peel and flake. While this is a good barometer for products, or ingredients, to avoid it is unpleasant and difficult to treat– particularly if you want to avoid pharmaceutical medicines, as do I.
When products do irritate my skin, I always turn to this amazing cream, and it always heals up irritation and redness in record time. However, this is also a very potent anti-aging cream that does far more than calm, soothe and heal irritated, inflamed skin. It is also a supremely potent anti-aging cream that lifts, smooths and hydrates the skin. Additionally, it is nourishing, comforting, and extremely pleasurable to use. This lipstick is creamy dreamy, highly pigmented, opaque in one pass (but buildable to maximum opacity and pigmentation), comfortable on the lips with the perfect amount of cushion, and it is just gorgeous. I find it moisturizing and very comfortable to wear, and the wear-time is quite good. If you love a great peachy-pink nude lipstick, then TOM FORD Lip Color in Nude Vanilla is an absolute must-have! While it is a splurge, it is really worth every cent!
Bite Beauty Lush Lip Tint in Lychee ($24.00 for 0.11 oz/ 3.2 g from Sephora): This is among my favorite go-to tinted lip products that reside somewhere between a lipstick and a hybrid tinted lip balm, and I essentially always have one on me because they look and feel amazing on the lips. Bite Beauty offers a wide array of beautiful lip products that are made with very high quality, food-grade ingredients that are safe to ingest without sacrificing beautiful colors and finishes. Lychee is a stunning peachy pink nude, and I love this shade so much that this is my second tube! I am, however, concerned that this formula may have been discontinued because they have all but disappeared from the Sephora website. If you see these in Sephora, be sure to grab one!
The Bite Beauty Lush Lip Tint formula is very emollient, moisturizing and exceedingly comfortable on the lips. It boasts the perfect amount of cushion, glides across the lips effortlessly, deposits color evenly, and it neither feathers, nor settles into lip lines. The "B" in the center is antioxidant-rich resveratrol that infuses each application with added protection. The outer layer offers lush, buildable pigmentation with a stunning satin finish. This formula leaves lips soft, silky smooth, supple and very hydrated.

Overall Assessment: Each of the beautiful products, that I have featured in this post, will be repurchased again as soon as they are close to empty. These really are among my most used and loved products!
