Joico recently launched a new collection to treat the scalp, and it is quite a nice addition to their stellar array of products.

It effectively cleans the hair and scalp, boasts a rich lather and it has a refreshing cool sensation. Joico asserts that it is clinically and dermatologist-tested and that it gives hair a full appearance.

Joico Scalp Vitality Exfoliating Foaming Scrub ($26.00 for 6 oz. from Ulta and Amazon): First, I have to say that I really love the utility of the fine tip applicator on this foaming scrub– it allows for efficient targeted application directly to the scalp. This exfoliant immediately transforms into a rich lather that gently removes product buildup, dead skin cells, sebum and dirt. It leaves the scalp feeling very clean and refreshed, but it is not stripping or drying! It is also color-safe!

LEE STAFFORD Grow Strong & Long Stimulating Scalp Serum is my latest discovery from this wonderful UK haircare brand, and if you want to give your hair and scalp a boost, it is a really helpful product to have in your haircare treasure trove of products. They suggest to apply two full pipettes to a wet or dry scalp, but I only use one and it is more than enough. Once applied, you simply come it through your hair and style as you normally would. It has a faint fruity-floral aroma, but it isn't cloying or long-lasting. My scalp and hair feel and look good after use. My scalp is more balanced between washes and it is conditioned and moisturized as well.

Vegamour GRO Revitalizing Shampoo, Conditioner & Scalp Detoxifying Serum

Vegamour makes high quality haircare products, or as they assert, "hair wellness products." They select ingredients that are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. They have a nice variety of collections, but I have tested the Vegamour GRO Collection which is formulated to accelerate growth and to treat thinning hair. While I had never experienced hair thinning before the pandemic, I did notice that there was more hair in my drain after shampooing and conditioning than I had experienced before Covid. This was during the beginning and middle of the pandemic and it was either attributed to stress, or possibly that I had Covid before we had tests to make that determination. I had read about some people shedding more hair after testing positive, and it is entirely possible that is what happened to me.

It is color safe and It boasts the same delectable citrusy aroma as the shampoo. Many conditioners leave my dry-leaning hair even more dry, but thankfully this does not.

This type of scalp detox enhances product efficacy and is intended to help balance the scalp's microbiome. It has a very watery consistency, and therefore you don't want to squeeze the tube forcefully. Scalp feels refreshed and clean after use, and it does not need to be used more than once a week.

This weekly scalp treatment is formulated with vegan silk protein that gently removes buildup while providing a semi-permeable moisture barrier, and protecting it from harmful environmental pollutants. It also removes excess oils and rebalances the scalp to promote healthy hair growth.

Product Claims:

• Gently removes buildup for healthy sebum production and reduces the appearance of flakes.
• Creates a healthy, balanced scalp microbiome.

Directions: Massage evenly onto dry or damp scalp. Leave in for three to five minutes. Rinse. Follow with GRO Revitalizing Shampoo and Conditioner. For best results, use weekly.

Overall Assessment: Using these three products together made my scalp feel clean and my hair was more full. While I did shed far less hair after the height of the pandemic, I suspect that it had more to do with the fact that I was far less stressed than I was when we were in lockdown.
