I close out the year 2020 with my December Empties, and I made one last push to use up largely empty containers in an effort to live more sustainably, waste less, buy less and to use what I have. I also burned a lot of candles this month because I found that it helps reduce some of the stress that I have been experiencing in this very difficult time.

SALT By Hendrix Magical Rose Sugar Soufflé (This appears to have been discontinued): Of all of their body scrubs, this was by far my very favorite. As the name rightly suggests, it really was a magical scrub. This sugar-based exfoliator has a light and fluffy soufflé texture that is neither too dry, nor too oily. It contains a lovely symphony of oils that hydrate and nourish the skin while the sugar particles exfoliate dead skin cells–revealing soft, smooth, supple and moisturized skin. It has a light rose aromatic veil that is very soft and feminine. This lovely scrub is cruelty-free and free of toxic ingredients, and the sugar melts completely, and therefore will not clog your drain (and is safe for the environment). Purchase Again? I most certainly would if they still made it!

Nubian Heritage Goat's Milk & Chai Bar Soap ($4.00 for 5 oz. from Swanson Vitamins): This lovely bar soap gently exfoliates dead skin cells while hydrating, softening and conditioning the skin. It boasts a creamy light lather that neither strips the skin, nor does it leave behind a greasy residue. It has a faint warm aroma from which one detects rose, honey and chai. I keep this bar at my bathroom sink, and love how soft it makes my hands. Purchase Again? Eventually, but I have lots of soaps to use before purchasing more.

Nubian Heritage Honey & Black Seed Bar Soap ($4.00 for 5 oz. from Swanson Vitamins): I love the rich warm and creamy scent of this soap lathers so nicely, and it contains exfoliating particles, but it never strip the skin or leave it dry and uncomfortable. Purchase Again? Eventually I will.

LAVANILA Vanilla Bean Creamy Body Oil ($20.00 for 3.4 oz. from Beauty Encounter): This lightweight, super-hydrating creamy oil smells divine, and it delivers instant hydration without leaving behind a greasy residue. It leaves skin soft, smooth and supple and lightly fragranced. The consistency is thin, it melts into the skin immediately, and leaves behind an ethereal glow. The warm veil of vanilla bean aroma is comforting and rich, and it lingers for quite a while. Purchase Again? Yes! This is either my second or third bottle, and I really love this stuff so much!

Bodyography Lip Scrub and Mask ($25.00 from Bodyography): My lips have periodically been chapped throughout this winter season, and I have been using so many lip balms and oils to deal with this issue. Bodyography is a brand that I absolutely love, and this duo does not disappoint. This cruelty-free, vegan and gluten-free scrub and oil duo is very effective, easy to use and it is filled with antioxidant-rich and hydrating ingredients. The scrub gently and effectively removes dead skin without causing further damage, and the oil deeply nourishes, hydrates, smooths and restores dry lips. There is no detectable taste or fragrance, and therefore it should pose no problem for people sensitive to scented products. Purchase Again? Probably not, but I really liked this a lot.

3 Graces Radiant Lip Scrub ($18.00 from 3 Graces Beauty): This wondrous antioxidant-rich lip scrub has a delectable aroma that is best described as warm, creamy and comforting. Simply apply a tiny amount and gently massage it into clean lips and then remove with a damp cloth. The nourishing formula removes dead skin, heals chapped lips and it leaves them smooth and hydrated. It is the perfect way to prep your lips for your lipstick, lip gloss or lip balm. Purchase Again? Probably not, but I loved it!

Vichy Liftactiv Hyalu Mask ($40.00 for 1.69 oz. from Vichy, Dermstore, Amazon, Target and SkinStore): is an ultra effective Hyaluronic Acid-based hydrating mask that is a perfect pick for dehydrated, stressed and dry skin. This is every French Pharmacy fanatics dream-come-true hydrator, and its refreshing water-gel texture feels cooling and amazing against the skin. It plumps fine lines, deeply hydrates and leaves skin soft, smooth and supple. It is formulated for all types of skin, and it is paraben-free, oil-free and fragrance-free. Purchase Again? I already have a new jar!

The A Method C Gel Facial Mask ($75.00 for a set of 6 from The A Method): These wonderful masks have a delighful light citrus aroma, and they are cooling and soothing on the skin. The Stabilized Vitamin C does a wonderful job brightening dull skin and softening the appearance of fine lines. After 20-30 minutes, my skin was richly hydrated, soft, smooth and luminous. If you love high quality sheet masks, then you will revel in the magnificence of this one! Purchase Again? I still have a couple left, but I like these a lot a will likely purchase more when I use up more of my sheet masks.

INNA Organic Frankincense Rich Revitalizing Eye Mask ($71.89 for 5 ey mans and 5 face masks from Amazon): Frankincense Rich Revitalizing Eye Masks do a tremendous job nourishing and hydrating the delicate area under the eyes. These serum soaked cotton masks plump fine lines, diminish the appearance of dark circles and leave the skin lifted, soft, smooth and supple. Purchase Again? After I finish up my collection of other eye masks, I will definitely consider buying these.

Ouai Scalp & Body Scrub ($38.00 for 8.8 oz. from Sephora): While I only had a deluxe sample, I used it long enough to know that I really liked this scrub, but not long enough to review it. Purchase Again? Maybe eventually, but I have several body scrubs to use up first.

Oribe Curl by Definition Crème ($48.52 for 5.9 oz. from Walmart): This is one of the most incredible styling products that I have ever used on my curly hair. If you have curly hair, you know just how challenging it can be to find products that are effective, that don't weigh down curls, that don't dry out the hair, or leave it greasy. While this styling crème is quite expensive, it has always been money well-spent for me. It has a rich, creamy and moisturizing formula that tames frizz, smoothes hair, defines and controls unruly curls, without weighing them down, and it offers hair a beautiful glossy shine. If you have wavy or curly hair, then the ultra-luxe Oribe Curl By Definition Crème is a phenomenal haircare option worthy of your serious consideration. Purchase Again? I will definitely consider it when I finish some of the other products that I am currently using.

Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream ($19.50-$52.00 for 1.7 oz. and 5 oz. from Nordstrom): I have a few samples of this Moisturizing Cream and I am quite happy with the results so far. It is described as, "a high-gloss, leave-in conditioner that restores even the driest hair, calming frizz and elevating shine for touchable softness." Purchase Again? I am seriously considering it!

Rituals Indian Rose Scented Candle (It looks as though this has been discontinued): The moment that I opened the box and smelled this gorgeous candle, it was true love. I love rose scented candles, and this one is really special. The aroma features the pairing of Indian Rose and Sweet Almond Oil, and it is warm, sweet, but not too sweet, and perhaps one of the most lovely roses imagined. Purchase Again? I would in a heartbeat!

Tiziana Terenzi White Fire White Glass Candles ($45.00 for 6 oz. from Amazon): Notes: fir, jasmine, bergamot, fresh ice, honey. I received these in a Barneys New York LOVE YOURSELF Gift Bag years ago, and I loved using them. Purchase Again? At some point I will consider purchasing more, but for now I am swimming in candles.

Alora Ambiance Bimbi Candle ($50.00 for 9 oz. from Alora Ambiance): is a study in refinement and elegance, and it would not be an overstatement to suggest that it is a candle with which I am thoroughly transfixed and obsessed. The lovely aroma, which is a delectable blend of Bimbi Lavender, Chamomile and Bergamot, is a luscious composite of the three scents, and together they yield the most extraordinary citrusy floral that is neither too sweet, nor too assertive. The ultra-high quality soy candle, with a cotton wick, burns for about 50 hours, and it fills the air with the most intoxicatingly beautiful and calming aroma. Furthermore, the glass vessel is so beautiful that you will want to save it to display your makeup brushes or eye pencils.

Diptyque Baies Candle ($36.00-$68.00 for 2.4 oz. and 6.5 oz. from Nordstrom, Diptyque and Space NK): I love Diptyque candles, and this one is really lovely. It is described as, "An irresistibly fresh and fruity scented candle that warms your heart and home." I used this on my nightstand, and it was calming and beautiful. Purchase Again? Very likely.

Rebel & Mercury Botanical Candle in Cinnamon, Nutmeg and Clove ($8.00 value for a custom tin from Boxwalla and the full size candle is $42.00 for 8 oz. from Rebel & Mercury): This delectable candle has an otherworldly aroma that is punctuated by top notes of sweet orange that give way to a refined combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove with a subtle undercurrent of cardamom. It smells like the holiday season distilled into a perfect little candle. As Boxwalla has noted, one can dip their fingers into the tin and actually use this as a solid perfume, and I have tried this and find it utterly hypnotic! I am transfixed my its warm holiday scent, and look forward to purchasing more Rebel & Mercury's candles. Purchase Again? It is on my list!

Overall Assessment: It's hard to believe that 2020 is coming to a close. Let's hope for a much better 2021! Cheers to a Happy New Year, and a healthy one in which Covid-19 is no longer an issue.

November came and went so fast this year, and yet I managed to finish up a decent pile of products. Here is what I finished:

African Botanics Buchu Botanical Enzyme Polish ($75.00 for 3.38 oz./100 ml. from African Botanics, Credo Beauty and Cult Beauty £66.00): Buchu Botanical Enzyme Polish is a very deep-cleansing facial exfoliator that effectively and efficiently sweeps away impurities and cleans out clogged pores. It is formulated with a combination of Marula Oil, Baobab Oils and Buchu Plant extracts that are punctuated by Micro-Algae and ultra-fine granules of ancient volcanic minerals. The fine granules, which densely populate this exfoliator, efficiently and effectively unclog pores, and remove dead skin cells, excess oils and impurities. Papaya and Pineapple enzymes help to dissolve dead skin cells, aid in cleaning out the pores, and make them appear reduced in size. Skin is left brightened, deeply cleansed and utterly glowing. In fact, the first time that I used it I noticed that it left my skin feeling as soft and silky smooth as ultra-fine velvet. Only the smallest amount is needed to achieve the desired results for the face, neck and décolleté, and the exfoliating particles are so efficient that you do not need to apply any pressure as you massage it into the skin. Buchu Botanical Enzyme Polish Skin neither strips the skin, nor does it deplete vital moisture or hydration. Dull, congested skin gives way to youthful, radiant skin that feels amazing to the touch. Purchase Again? Definitely!

Bodyography AM/PM Moisturizer ($40.00 for 1.7 oz. from Bodyography): This delectable lightweight and fast absorbing moisturizer, which is formulated for day and night use, melts into the skin leaving it deeply moisturized, soft, smooth and supple. It lightly plumps fine lines, brightens dull skin and it has a delightful light fruity aroma. It can be used alone, or if you want extra hydration, it pairs perfectly with Bodyography Coconut Milk Serum. This moisturizer does not contain an SPF, therefore you will need to use a sunscreen as well. Purchase Again? Perhaps one day, but I have lots of open jars of cream to use up before I buy another!

Colbert MD Intensify Facial Disks ($70.00 for 20 discs from Dermstore, Olivela and the official Colbert MD Amazon Store): I have regularly used various types of facial exfoliating pads for many years, and have to confess that my experience with Colbert MD Intensify Facial Disks was a real game changer for me all of those years ago. While most of the solution soaked exfoliating pads that I have used are thin and double sided, Colbert MD has reimagined its form and instead has opted for a very plush and thick single sided pad. The generously saturated pre-moistened disks include a small tab on the back that makes holding the disk easy, and allows one to maintain effortless control.

The combination of the mild microdermabrasion action from the surface of the pad coupled with the enzyme action of the solution immediately and effectively encourages cell turnover that aids in the promotion of collagen production. Skin, unobstructed by a proliferation of dead skin cells, is then able to effortlessly and effectively absorb skincare products. The end result is unbelievably soft, smooth, supple and luminous skin. Purchase Again? YES! I am working on a brand new box already!

Patchology Flashpatch Rejuvenating Eye Gels ($15.00 for 5 pack fromNordstrom, Space NK, Bloomingdale's, Ulta, Dermstore, Revolve, Skinstore and Bluemercury): These eye gels are biodegradable, cruelty-free and vegan, and they effectively cool and de-puff the delicate area below the eyes. They effectively moisturize, soothe and refresh, and each time I use them I notice that my dark circles are diminished, my fine lines are softened, and that my skin boasts a dewy luminosity. Purchase Again? Once I run out of my other eye gels, I will definitely consider purchasing these.

MALIN+GOETZ Lime Bar Soap ($16.00 for 5 oz. from MALIN+GOETZ and Bloomingdale's): While I have a generous size drawer filled with soaps and body washes, the intoxicatingly delicious, and refreshing aroma of this bar soap is just too good not to use regularly. In addition to its incredibly uplifting and exhilarating scent, this bar boasts a creamy dreamy lather that is non-stripping and residue-free. Additionally, it moisturizes the skin and leaves it silky soft and smooth. I love to build a creamy lather and use it to shave my legs and underarms, and can say without hesitation that I will be purchasing a replacement bar as soon as I finish this one. Purchase Again? Yes!

SENTEURS D’ORIENT Hammam Soap in Jasmine of Arabia ($36.00 for 7.2 oz/205 g. from SENTEURS D'ORIENT and Net-A-Porter): This is the most beautiful soap imaginable. From the gorgeous design of the soap itself to the otherworldly aroma of the creamy, delectable Jasmine used to make this ultra-luxe bar– this is the perfect Jasmine soap in which to luxuriate. The rich and creamy lather gently cleanses the skin without stripping it, while the beautiful aroma delights the senses. This gorgeous soap is suspended on a rope– which allows it to effectively dry out between uses. This is the perfect hostess gift, holiday gift or gift for yourself, and I assure you that the recipient will be thrilled by this gorgeous gem of a soap.  Purchase Again? Absolutely! 

SALT By Hendrix Coco-Salt Body Buff ($25.00 for 7.05 oz. from SALT By Hendrix): is a delectable ultra-luxe natural exfoliant, from Australia, that is vegan, cruelty-free and such a treat to use. It effectively exfoliates dead skin cells leaving the skin silky smooth, incredibly soft and supple. It has a very light milky lavender aroma that is calming, and not in the least bit pungent. Furthermore, it rinses clean and doesn't leave the skin, or the bottom of the shower, covered in an oily residue. Purchase Again? I definitely will buy another one of their body scrubs when I need to replace what I have.

L'Occitane Lavender Hand Cream ($22.00 for 2.6 oz.from L'Occitane, Sephora and Nordstrom): This light-medium weight hand cream is utterly luxurious in its smooth and creamy texture, and its delightful lavender scent. The formula is fast absorbing and fast-acting– it immediately renders hands soft, supple and ultra-hydrated. The lavender aroma is neither cloying, nor in the least bit pungent. Instead, it leaves a thin veil of scent close to the skin, and it fades away altogether after a couple of hours. I have a tube this in my work bag, and in my purse, and I delight in using it every single day! Purchase Again? I definitely will!

Trader Joe's Lemon Kitchen Hand Soap (I think that it is $3.99 for 17 oz. from Trader Joe's): If you love the refreshing scent of lemons, then this affordable hand soap from Trader Joe's is a must-have. Not only does it smell delicious, but it thoroughly cleans without stripping the skin. While called a kitchen soap, it can be used in the bathroom as well. Purchase again? I already purchased several more, and will continue to as long as they make this wonderful soap!

LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant ($14.00 for 1.7 oz. from LAVANILA, Ulta, and Thrive Market): Though I have occasionally used mainstream deodorants, I do prefer to avoid the chemicals. LAVANILA makes wonderful healthy deodorants that are effective and smell wonderful (though they also make an unscented variant for sensitive skin). Vanilla + Earth for Balance: "A warm and woody combination of patchouli and sandalwood that enhances focus and concentration." While its description might summon thoughts of a heavy woody scent punctuated by a pungent patchouli, this is a light, sweet and creamy woodsy scent infused with warm florals, and without any detectable notes from the patchouli. It has a depth and yet it isn't in the least bit overpowering. Purchase Again? As long as they make them, I will buy them!

African Botanics Revitalizing Therapy Gel ($65.00 for 2 oz./60ml from African Botanics, Credo Beauty and Net-A-Porter): This is my go-to product whenever I need relief from muscular soreness. lower back pain, and when I desire an overall sense of wellbeing after heavy physical exertion. This miracle gel outranks every ointment that I have ever used post-workout, or for any other aches and pains, and it does so without any silicones, mineral oils, parabens, allergens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, PEGs or SLSs. Loaded with the highest quality organic ingredients, that are responsibly sourced, this revitalizing gel cools the skin, helps to promote circulation, has potent anti-inflammatory ingredients that reduce swelling, and it hydrates and conditions the skin. The lightweight gel sinks into the skin effortlessly and leaves the skin soft and supple. The ultra emollient formula, coupled with the delectable scent, makes using this conditioner a supremely enjoyable sensory experience. Like its matching shampoo, Philip B. Oud Royal Forever Shine Conditioner boasts the highly innovative and cutting-edge time-released botanical delivery system that imparts hair with unprecedented moisture and shine over a sustained period of time. While one only needs to leave it on for a minute, I prefer to leave it on for 10-20 minutes for deeper hydration. It infuses hair with lasting moisture, glossiness, bounce, and the delectable scent of pure Oud. Purchase Again? At some point, when I can justify this type of splurge!

KMS MOISTREPAIR Conditioner ($23.50 for 8.5 oz.) from KMS Salons nationwide, Look Fantastic, Beauty Expert, Mankind, Beauty Expert and HQ Hair): is a lightweight moisturizing conditioner that immediately softens, conditions, detangles, fights frizz, improves elasticity, and greatly enhances manageability. Furthermore, it leaves behind no greasy residue and does not weigh hair down. Purchase Again? I will consider it the next time I need to buy more conditioner (which will be quite a while!)

Alora Ambiance Rosa Reed Diffuser ($60.00 for 8 oz. Reed Diffuser and $90.00 for 16 oz. from the official Beautyhabit Amazon Store): Described as. "A classic floral in every sense of the word, Rosa’s blend of rose essence with a hint of musk makes this romantic fragrance a valuable addition to any room." If you love the scent of a complex rose, then this reed diffuser is made with you in mind. The aroma fills the room with its essence without ever imposing itself of people with sensitive noses! Purchase Again? Absolutely!

Alora Ambiance Isola Reed Diffuser ($60.00 for 8 oz. Reed Diffuser and $90.00 for 16 oz. from the official Beautyhabit Amazon Store): This is Alora's most popular fragrance for good reason, is a delectable floral mix of gardenia, tuberose and fig. It is a light and airy fragrance without being too sweet, and it isn't in the least bit pungent. The fragrance might be likened to the experience of walking through a fragrant garden during a warm summer breeze– it is at once ethereal and deeply pleasurable. Purchase Again? No question!

Overall Assessment: I somehow thought that I would use up a few more products in November, but I didn't get through a lot of my half empty products. What did you use up, toss out, give away or return in November? Any great, or awful, products to report?

Last Minute Beauty Gifts and Stocking Stuffers

If you are still scrambling to find last minute gifts to give, and if you have stockings to stuff, I thought that I would share some amazing finds with you. All of these products are loved, and used, in my household, and are definitely worthy of consideration. 

Alora Ambiance Isola Reed Diffuser (Shown below. $60.00 for 8 oz. Reed Diffuser and $90.00 for 16 oz. from Alora Ambiance and from the official Beautyhabit Amazon Store): which is their most popular fragrance for good reason, is a delectable floral mix of gardenia, tuberose and fig. It is a light and airy fragrance without being too sweet, and it isn't in the least bit pungent. The fragrance might be likened to the experience of walking through a fragrant garden during a warm summer breeze– it is at once ethereal and deeply pleasurable. I have mine in my master bathroom, and each time I open the door I am greeted by its delectable aroma. 

Alora Ambiance also makes equally amazing candles. European Wax Center Slow It Body Wash and Lotion ($20.00 each from European Wax Center): If someone on your gift list loves to wax, then the European Wax Center has a wonderful range of products to deter ingrown hairs, exfoliate the skin, and moisturize and pamper the skin. Their Slow It Body wash is filled with gentle exfoliating particles that leaves the skin soft, smooth and supple and it effectively deters ingrown hairs. Their Slow It Body Lotion is healing, nourishing, hydrating and very fast absorbing. These make great stocking stuffers or guest bathroom treats!

WEN by Chaz Dean ($15.00-$32.00 from WEN, QVC, and Walmart): Years ago, when I first discovered, and used, WEN by Chaz Dean– I was so thrilled to see the way in which his detergent-free non-lathering Cleansing Conditioners were so gentle and effective on my dry, curly hair.

My current favorite is the WEN® Cucumber Aloe Cleansing Conditioner which is described as, "a revolutionary step towards beautiful, healthy, shiny hair." You use it in lieu of your regular shampoo and conditioner, and it does an enviable job cleaning and conditioning the hair, and leaving it detangled, soft, hydrated, and it does not weigh it down or leave hair greasy. They also suggest that it can be used as a shaving cream, and I love using it in this capacity as well!

SUN BUM ($3.99-$19.99 from Sun Bum and Ulta): Sun Bum makes some of my family's very favorite sunscreens, but they also make some remarkable haircare products worthy of mention. 

My current favorite, which my husband loves too, is SUN BUM Texturizing Sea Spray, which smells like the ocean breeze and gives you tousled beach waves and extra body. It is lightweight, defines hair and prevents frizz. My husband loves it because it has a matte finish and enough hold to keep hair from getting too messy, but not so much as to prevent it from moving naturally.

OZNaturals ($15.48-$19.99 each from OZNaturals): I recently began using some products from OZNaturals, and I am impressed by the quality of their natural products, and their efficacy and inherent affordability make them very worth trying. They make perfect stocking stuffers, and would be wonderful to have in a guest bathroom over the holidays. 

I am currently rather obsessed with their Vitamin C Facial Cleanser ($15.49) because it is gentle, non-stripping and yet it thoroughly cleans the skin. Their Vitamin C + AHA Facial Serum ($19.95) exfoliates dead skin cells effectively, but instead of drying and irritating the skin, it brightens without leaving it dry red, or inflamed. They also have a wonderful Vitamin C + Sea Hydration Mask ($19.99) that banishes dry skin, and leaves it soft, deeply hydrated and brightened. I just started testing their Super Youth Retinol Facial Moisturizer ($19.99), and am excited to see whether their claim that it is gentle but effective, and that it "delivers visible results without the irritation, redness, dryness and flaking commonly associated with prescription and other retinol creams" turns out to be the case for my skin.

Passport to Beauty Sheet Masks ($18.50 each from Passport to Beauty): I am among the people who absolutely love sheet masks, and I am always so excited to try them out. Passport to Beauty sent me three to test, and I am pleased to report that they are wonderful.

Australian Beauty Secret Tea Tree Clarifying Face Mask has "natural antibacterial properties in the oil are great for clearing blemishes, while Centella Asiatica extract soothes the skin leaving it cool and refreshed."

Singapore Beauty Secret Bird's Nest And Pearl Lifting And Firming Face Mask is "a rich in Collagen and Vitamin C and is known to deeply nourish dry skin, while Pearl is rich in amino acids, antioxidants and signal proteins, protecting skin and boosting collagen regeneration. MyChelle Dermaceuticals Lip Hints Conditioning Lip Balm in Berry ($12.50 for 0.2 oz. from MyChelle, Amazon, and iHerb): This is a seriously delectable, nourishing and healthy, tinted lip balm that is ultra-moisturizing and healing. It has a light spearmint taste and tingle, but it is neither unpleasant, nor long lasting. It offers a beautiful shine and a very sheer wash of color, and it is completely non-sticky.
