Le Creuset Signature Enameled Cast Iron Cassadou 3.75 Quart Pan

I have been obsessed with the Le Creuset Signature Cassadou pot ever since I saw it at my friend's house. I have used it countless times when we cook together, and it is his most-used and most beloved Le Creuset pot. In fact, he uses it so often that it lives on his stovetop. The daunting price tag, which is $365.00, has been the reason that I haven't yet purchased it, but now it is on sale for $219.00 in honor of Le Creuset's 100th anniversary (Established in France in 1925). Now my only issue is trying to select a color!
According to Le Creuset,

A traditional design from Le Creuset’s archives, the Signature Round Cassadou was inspired by Provencal hunters and the stews they would prepare from the day’s catch. Now updated for the modern kitchen, the enameled cast iron Cassadou acts as a deep sauté pan or small Dutch oven with a convenient handle for easy maneuvering from stove to oven to table. With a wide surface area, it’s ideal for everything from searing and simmering to frying, stir-fries, one pot meals and more. Crafted from our legendary enameled cast iron, the Cassadou has exceptional heat distribution and retention qualities to lock in flavor and keep dishes warm or cold. The colorful enameled surface minimizes sticking and staining, requires no pre-seasoning and is easy to clean.

Features:

  • Enameled cast iron delivers superior heat distribution and retention
  • Ready to use, requires no seasoning
  • Easy-to-clean and durable enamel resists dulling, staining, chipping and cracking
  • Light colored smooth interior enamel allows easy monitoring of cooking progress
  • Tight-fitting lids are specially designed to circulate steam and return moisture back to the food
  • Ergonomic knobs and handles are designed for easy lifting
  • Lightest weight cast iron by quart on the market
  • Compatible with all cooktops and oven-safe up to 500°F
  • Safe for dishwasher

Care & Use:
  • Suitable for all stovetops, including induction
  • Oven-safe up to 500°F
  • Dishwasher-safe (hand washing recommended)

Le Creuset suggests that it is good for making: beef stew, no-knead bread, roast chicken, fried chicken, soups, stews and mashed potatoes. My friend also uses it for one-pot meals, pasta sauces, vegetables and just about anything else he cooks on the stove top, and the oven.
The 3.75 quart size is remarkably spacious and can easily feed 5 or more people.

Overall Assessment: I am leaning toward Flame (the variegated orange color) since it is a Le Creuset classic, but there are so many beautiful choices. I spoke to someone at Le Creuset and they told me that this sale price, in honor of their 100th anniversary, will last until the end of the year.

$219.99 sale price (Regularly $365.00) from Le Creuset and Amazon (Affiliate Links). All views expressed are categorically my own.
