Biotherm Winter Hydration Skincare Picks

As you are no doubt noticing, as the weather gets colder, the more I have been featuring moisturizing and nourishing skincare products. In part, this is because many of you have requested it, but it is also because my skin has been unusually dry and dehydrated this winter, and that is rather unusual for my normal/combination skin. Therefore, I thought that I would share four nourishing Biotherm skincare products that have been working wonders on my skin this season.

About Biotherm,

A pioneer in skin biology since discovering the benefits of Life Plankton™ in 1952, Biotherm uses the incredible healing force of Life Plankton™ in advanced skincare solutions.

Through expertise in Biotechnology, the brand infuses the most powerful active ingredients in unparalleled pleasurable textures for a healthy and active beauty.
BIOTHERM Liquid Glow Skin Best ($54.00 for 1.01 oz. from Biotherm USA and $69.00 for 30ml. from Biotherm Canada): This is a lightweight dry oil that melts into the skin without leaving any greasy residue. It is very hydrating and makes skin feel soft and supple, and gives skin a dewy glow. It has a light, warm and creamy aroma that is neither in the least bit overpowering, nor is it long-lasting.

According to Biotherm,

Instant complexion reviving oil with algae extract a revolution in facial oils: the 1st dry oil ultra-concentrated in one of the most powerful antioxidant algae extract: Astaxanthin. Skin is instantly smoothed out and complexion is naturally enhanced.

An unexpected texture suitable for all skin types. Naturally tinted oil, with an absolutely non greasy texture leaving a dry & silky finish on skin.
Directions: Apply by pressing to add touches of glow. At night, massage into face. Mix a drop of oil with your skincare.
BIOTHERM Blue Therapy Cream in Oil ($72.00 for 1.69 oz. from Biotherm USA and $86.00 for 50ml. from Biotherm Canada): I have to preface this by stating that I am nearly irrationally obsessed with this cream-in-oil moisturizer. It has a luxurious gel-cream texture that is enriched by nourishing oils, and the way in which in melts into the skin is so luxurious. It is richly moisturizing and it leaves skin very soft, supple and luminous. It has a lovely warm and creamy aroma, but it subsides once it sinks into the skin.

According to Biotherm,

A texture uniting the nutritive capabilities of a naturally sourced oil with the lightness of a honey-like gel-cream. Made with a blend of "sea sugar", Algae of Youth extracts, and vegetal oils rich in omega 3 and 6. Day after day, skin is nurtured with hydration and looks smooth, luminous, and intensely plumped.

The highest concentration in nutritive natural oils, similar to that found in a butter, yet in the freshest possible gel texture, thanks to a high pressure micronizing process similar to that experienced 10,000 meters under the sea
Directions: Apply daily for optimal results on a cleansed face and neck. Using both hands, smooth over the face in an outward pattern starting from the centre. Finish by the neck. Avoid eye contour.
BIOTHERM Blue Therapy Serum-in-Oil Night ($71.00 for 1.01 oz. from Biotherm USA and $81.00 for 30ml. from Biotherm Canada): This nighttime algae-oil-based serum is non-greasy, richly hydrating and very nourishing. It has an unusual oil-gel texture that beautifully melts into the skin and leaves it soft, radiant, healthy, and it plumps fine lines. It has a lovely light aroma that might be described as a slightly spicy citrus, but it is not long-lasting.

According to Biotherm,

The formula contains the rare sea oil from Ulkenia, which is composed of similar membrane lipids found in the skin cells. Biotherm associates the Blue Therapy ingredient trio with this pure algae-oil.

Always striving to be at the cutting edge of texture formulation, Biotherm has, for its first time, succeeded in uniting a serum with an oil in one micro-dispersion formula that transforms under the fingers and fuses beautifully into the skin. This non-greasy and non-sticky night care is suitable for all skin types.

Night after night, skin is visibly re-plumped, velvet-smooth and luminous, as if transformed. After 4 weeks, Blue Therapy Serum-in-oil delivers benefits on the look of fine lines, bounce and radiance.

Directions: Use every evening on cleansed and toned skin. Apply alone or underneath your usual night treatment. Using both hands, smooth over the face in an outward pattern starting from the center. Finish by the neck. Avoid eye contour. Do not apply on breasts.
BIOTHERM Aquasource Gel ($44.00 for 1.69 oz. from Bioterm USA and $52.00 for 50ml. from Biotherm Canada): This ultra-luxe gel-based moisturizer is one of the most hydrating products that I have tried in recent memory. Its lightweight texture lends itself to melting into the skin immediately and drenching and quenching even the most dehydrated skin. It has been one of my greatest finds this winter because my skin has been assaulted by the constant disparity between the cold outdoors and the warm indoors. Biotherm's claim that it gives skin a visible glow and "intense regenerating hydration in one application" is absolutely consistent with my experience. This has a fresh green aroma that is uplifting and pleasant, but it does not linger.

According to Biotherm,

New Aquasource Gel Moisturizer is now infused with a legendary ingredient discovered in the French Pyrenees source: Aura Leaf, a medicinal plant with miraculous properties. Day after day, it replenishes skin’s natural moisture reserves, gorging skin with moisture to restore its natural ability to glow. Visibly glowing skin and 48H of intense regenerating hydration in one application. Even the most dehydrated skin and dullest complexions are visibly transformed.
Directions: Use every morning and / or evening on cleansed and toned skin. Place one dose into the palm. Using both hands, smooth over the face in an outward pattern starting from the center. Finish with the neck. Avoid eye contour.
Overall Assessment: These are effective and nourishing hydrators that really pamper the skin and leave it luminous. They are suitable for all types of skin and are effective for year round use, but I am particularly impressed by the extent to which they are hydrating my dry winter skin.

    1. Neither had I! I actually remember using some of their products many years ago, but nothing recently until trying these. I know how much you love gel-cream moisturizers, and I definitely think that you would like the cream-in-oil. It is innovative, and it feels amazing on the skin!

    1. I know what you mean, the last time that I used any of their products was even longer ago! I remember buying a few of their things with my mom, and I think that I still lived at home– so I was probably a late teen! Their products are definitely worth checking out, and I am quite impressed with these four products.
